I have a report of version r10g . I want to run this report in oracle reports 6i version.
Could any body help me out.

I have a report of version r10g . I want to run this report in oracle reports 6i version.BTW what is the reason to run report in report builder? If you want to see the report preview in report builder as you normally see in report 6i you can use Ctrl+Shift+R to run report in report builder 10g.

There are Parameters DESTTYPE, DESFORMAT and DESNAME. You can set these parameters to get as you want.
1) Output in Excel File
     ADD_PARAMETER(PL_ID, 'DESTYPE', TEXT_PARAMETER, 'FILE');
     ADD_PARAMETER(PL_ID, 'DESFORMAT', TEXT_PARAMETER, 'DELIMITED');
     ADD_PARAMETER(PL_ID, 'DESNAME', TEXT_PARAMETER, '<file_name>.XLS');2) output to printer
     ADD_PARAMETER(PL_ID, 'DESTYPE', TEXT_PARAMETER, 'PRINTER');
     ADD_PARAMETER(PL_ID, 'DESNAME', TEXT_PARAMETER, '<printer_name>');3) Email - Have to configure SMTP and all. ( i didn't checked it)

Hi Ramesh,
You can use SM36 and use the "Job Wizard" to define a background job in simple step by step procedure
Or
Goto SM37 and specify a job name.
Next specify the ABAP Program Name of the report you want to execute under Job Step.
Then click on "Extended Job Selection" and goto the Period Tab.
There select "Only Periodic Jobs" and then specify the frequency of execution based on Months, Weeks, Days, Hours or Minutes.

There are two ways for you to handle,
one manually setting up the job through SM36 which is better and convinient,
secondly through program using FM's JOB_OPEN, SUBMIT, JOB_CLOSE.
Find below steps in doing both:
Procedure 1:
1. Goto Trans -> SM36
2. Define a job with the program and variant if any
3. Click on start condition in application tool bar
4. In the pop-up window, click on Date/Time
5. Below you can see a check box "Periodic Job"
6. Next click on Period Values
7. Select "Other Period"
8. Now give '15' for Minutes
9. Save the job
Procedure 2 via Program:
Below is a sample code for the same. Note the ZTEMP2 is the program i am scheduling with 15mins frequency.

From this Function u can determine
how many rows in DIM u have.
After this u can determine size of DIM table:
ROWS * (How many Bytes are in one row) = Size of table.
In order to determine how many Bytes are in one row,
u can see transaction se11 -> Database table -> Tabkle name of DIM -> Display -> Fields -> just add the length*Bytes for all fields in this table.

If your question is about the format spreadsheet, it is not possible from Reports Builder :

Restrictions
It is not possible to generate spreadsheet output directly from Reports Builder. Instead, on the command line, you can run the report using rwrun or Reports Server clients (rwservlet, rwclient, rwcgi), with DESFORMAT=SPREADSHEET. You cannot store DESFORMAT=SPREADSHEET as a system parameter value in the report definition (.rdf file).

Query not running in report builder 3.0

hi, i can run my query in mgmt studio (version 2008R2) and within the query designer of report builder 3.0 but it will not run from report builder. i get a generic error message of "an error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)".
the query uses report parameters and is written with dynamic sql (using a pass-through to oracle). any ideas why the query doesn't execute in report builder ? thanks a bunch,

According to your description, it seems that you are using linked server to pass value to oracle. Seeing that the query is worked well in Management Studio, you may have the permission to connect to oracle (In this scenario, make sure the users to run the
query in SSMS and Report Builder are the same user). So this issue can be caused by the user’s permission to connect to report server, the credential of data source and the dynamic query.
We can add the current user as a Login, then click Properties and navigate to User Mappings page, enable ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB options.
We can try to type user name and password, and enable “Use as Windows credentials” as the credential used to connect to data source.
Try with dynamic query:
="Select column1, column2 From tableName where ID IN (" + JOIN(Parameters!param1.value, ",") + ")"

We have an application in form an report 6i and we are going to translate it in 10G dev suite.
We have a problem with any forms modules which run report to file ascii with particular format.
After these files are send to printer o machine with host comand (we use the webutil for the host comand).
How can we run tese reports to file ascii ?

if you print a Reports to the file system then this happens on the server. Your options are
a) Run the Reports with destype=cache and have the user printing it from the Browser
b) Print the Reports to the file system as before and make the directory accessible on the Web so that you can call the file using web.show_document()
c) You use Run_Report_Object() and print the reports to a network printer next to the user
d) check otn.oracle.com/products/forms for orarrp (an unsupported utility but working)

How to run Net Configuration Assistant on 10g Forms and Reports server

I have a Windows 2000 server with Forms and Reports Services installed from AS 10g v. 9.0.4 (just the Forms and Reports install). According to the OUI, Net Configuration Assistant 9.0.4 is also installed. However I cannot figure out how to run the Net CA. There is no shorcut that I can find. Can anyone help?

I assume it's because I only installed the Forms and Reports option, so I only have Forms Services, Reports Services, and the Universal Installer. No big deal - I've already setup tnsnames manually. You can use rwrun. Since 9.0.2 , it is no more possible to DISPLAY the output on the screen , but you can generate a file (HTML , PDF , RTF , ..) and then open the file generated.
EX: rwrun report=c:\temp\myrep.rdf destype=file desname=c:\temp\myrep.pdf desformat=pdf userid=scott/tiger@mydb P_1=param1_value ...
