How to declare a custome AS-class that extend a Flex componenet

Hello there, would you please help. I have the following mxml tag
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"xmlns:custom="com.myComponents.*" layout="absolute" />
<custom:ReturnData id="dataR" fault="Alert.show(event.fault.faultString + '\n' + event.fault.faultDetail)" showBusyCursor="true" />
<fx:Declarations>
<s:CallResponder id="getAllResult"/>
</fx:Declarations>
When I change this into AS and try to use the result in a dataGrid, no info will be populated in datagrid, any idea??? It works when use the xmlns tag.
2) as actionscript object
<fx:Script>

import com.myComponents.*;
public var dataR:ReturnData;
getAllResult.token = dataR.getAll();

</fx:Script>
<mx:DataGrid x="10" y="21" id="dataGrid" creationComplete="dataGrid_creationCompleteHandler(event)" dataProvider="{getAllResult.lastResult}">
<mx:columns>
<mx:DataGridColumn headerText="TreatmentareaID" dataField="TreatmentareaID"/>
<mx:DataGridColumn headerText="ProductName" dataField="ProductName"/>
</mx:columns></mx:DataGrid>I

Thanks for your feedback, my original code is as here below. DataGrid2 populate the data since the component has been initialized in the xmlns. DataGrid does not populate the data and has been initialized by ActionScript???
Any idea where do I do wrong?
Thanks

• How to do validation with a class that extends DispatchAction?

I'm trying to mess around with some validation with struts for a .jsp form and I've read a tutorial that says I need to extend ValidatorForm instead of ActionForm...however, I'm using DispatchAction instead of ActionForm. What is the best way to do validation if I'm using a DispatchAction?
Thanks a lot.

Hey evnafets,
I do have the struts validator configured in the struts config file, and I do get the following message:
Jun 21, 2005 10:06:55 AM org.apache.struts.validator.ValidatorPlugIn initResources
INFO: Loading validation rules file from '/WEB-INF/validator-rules.xml'
Jun 21, 2005 10:06:55 AM org.apache.struts.validator.ValidatorPlugIn initResources
INFO: Loading validation rules file from '/WEB-INF/validation.xml'
I added the <form-set> tags but am still getting nothing, I'm now wondering if it may have something to do with the following, which I just noticed...
In my .jsp file, I have something like this:
<html:form action="/modifyBook">
<html:errors />
Name: <html:text property="fname" value="${entry.fname}"/> <html:text property="lname" value="${entry.lname}" />
<html:hidden property="method" value="edit"/>
<html:submit property="submitValue">Edit</html:submit>
<html:cancel property="cancelValue">Cancel</html:cancel>And in the "edit" method of the ModifyBookAction class, I cast the form into a DynaValidatorForm and just have my code to perform the edit. Now, what I'm wondering is, is the form getting properly associated with a "ModifyBookForm" which is what the rules are written for? The only tie I see is in the struts config where there is this:
<action
name="ModifyBookForm"
parameter="method"
path="/modifyBook"
scope="request"
type="com.yourcompany.struts.action.ModifyBookAction"
validate="true">
<forward
name="failure"
path="/form/error.jsp"
redirect="true"/>
<forward
name="success"
path="/loadBook.do"
redirect="true" />
</action>Is this enough? I'm thinking that the validation may be set up correctly, I'm just not implementing it in the right way?
Thanks again

• How do you invoke custom java classes???

Could someone post a detailed method of invoking custom java classes that works including what files go where, settings and the way it is invoked etc.
I have tried various ways from this forum and in the documentation without success. I am using IDM 8. I found these instructions regarding how you would do it if you were writing custom resource adaptors in the deployment tools guide:
To install a resource adapter you’ve customized:
1. Load the NewResourceAdapter.class file in the Identity Manager installation
directory under
idm/WEB-INF/classes/com/waveset/adapter/sample
(You might have to create this directory.)
2. Copy the .gif file to idm/applet/images.
This .gif file is the image that displays next to the resource name on the List
Resources page, and it should contain an image for your resource that is
18x18 pixels and 72 DPI in size.
3. Add the class to the resource.adapter property in
config/waveset.properties.
4. Stop and restart the application server. (For information about working with
application servers, see Identity Manager Installation.)
I tried the instructions here but placed my custom class in a folder entitled custom instead of /adapter/sample. Not sure about instruction 3 or whether it is relevent. Anyway nothings working.

Hi,
The way to add custom class is the same as you followed , put them in the WEB-INF/classes.
To use the custom adapter ,
Go To Resources - > Configure Types -> Add Custom Resource .
Type in the fully qualified class name of the custom adapter you added.and Save.
Now the new adapter you added should showup in the list of available adapters when you try to
configure a new adapter.
(Make sure that the prototype XML of your custom adapter is correct so that it displays the correct name / type for the adapter in the adapter list.
Thanks,
Balu

You can use Jakarta's net-package to connect to a FTP server.
Download it here:
http://jakarta.apache.org/site/downloads/downloads_commons-net.cgi
Here's a small demo:
import org.apache.commons.net.ftp.*;
public class FTPTest {
private boolean isConnected;
private FTPClient client;
public FTPTest() {
isConnected = false;
connect();
private void connect() {
String server = "server.org";
String username = "user";
String password = "password";
client = new FTPClient();
try {
client.connect(server);
client.login(username, password);
String[] files = client.listNames();
for(int i = 0; i < files.length; i++) {

• How to call a class that extends a frame from a panel ?

How to call a class that extends a frame from a panel ?
I am trying to create an application say "Videoshow"
Videoshow has a panel which in turn consists of 2 components : 1]a textarea( to show the contents of a page) and 2] a mediaclip(to show the video).
Now I have an application "MediaApplication"(to show the videoclip) which extends Frame (Code from Java 2 Unleashed, Chap 21). I want to show this MediaApplication in Component 2 of the above panel. But when I do this, I only see the MediaApplication frame instead of the whole SlideShow.
I want to do something likethis.
VideoShow :
|---------------------------------|-------------------|
| |
| (Comp 1) | (Comp 2)
| TEXTAREA | Video Clip
| |(MediaApp entends Frame)
|---------------------------------|-------------------|
What is the best way to achieve this ? Also which component can I use to show the videoclip ?

im not familiar with the code you mention from Java 2 Unleashed, but your best bet is to read up on Swing a bit - so you get an idea of how Swing containers and components work - then im sure you'll find a solution to your problems. Then if you encounter any difficulties whilst your attempting to do that, post your code in the Swing forum and im sure someone will help you.

thank you sir for your advice.
Its not like that I without any attempt, just past code here & asked for its conversion. I spent about 5 hours on it, can say spoil whole day but to no avail. You then just guide me, give some hint so that I do it. I will most probably wanted to do it by myself but asked for help when was just disappointed.
I try to put all init() in default constructor of identical copy of this applet that extends JPanel. Problem.....ball tend to fell but pad not moving. Also out out was not getting ant color input. That was like my best effort.....other tried that I found by search like just do nothing only extend panel OR frame in spite of applet, start applet from within main of another class.... these are few I remember what I tried.
I will be very very thankful to you if you can help/guide me how can I do it. Behavior of the Applet is like a normal PONG game with on pad controlled by arrow keys, & one ball colliding with walls of boundary & falling down.
Thanks a lot again for your attention & time.

• Using the UI editor for a class that extends an abstract class

Hi,
At the moment it's unfortunately impossible to use the UI editor to edit a class that extends a certain abstract class. There is a way to circumvent this problem, by using a proxy class. Does anyone know how to create a proxy class for this purpose and how to register it?
Hopefully a future JDeveloper release will solve this problem. Is this a planned feature?
Regards,
Peter

I hope it works for you now (why using , but not indentation?).

• Can I invoke a class that extends JAppl from another class extends JAppl

Can I invoke a class that extends JApplet from another class that extends JApplet. I need to invoke an applet then select an action which opens another applet. Thanks in advance.

Nobody is able to solve this problem, i cant even
think this things. i have hope so plz try and get
result and help.Did you understand what Sharad has said???
Yep, you can forward to specific error page from servlet when even error occured in JSP. In order to achieve you have to open jsp file from servlet say example by using reqdisp.forward.
handle exception in the part where you are forwarding. And forward to the specific error page inside catch block.

• Portlets development: When to use the class that extends PortletBridge...

When I create some Portlet (.jspx based) JDeveloper generate some resources. One of those is a class (with the name that I´ve configured) that extends PortletBridge...
Ok. So, I want to know if I use JSF standards should I put my actions into this class or should I create another Managed bean to handle that? What to do with this generated class?
Thank you.

So you want to create a portlet that uses JSF instead of JSP?
You can JDev do that for you. When you create a new portlet there is a step where you can specify the default page for the portlet mode (view, edit).
On the right hand side you can select ADF JSF (or something like that).
JDev will then create a class that extends the PortletBridge class and you don't have to do anything more. Just edit the jspx like it's a normal page.

Don't really understand what the posted code does and I can't execute the code so I don't have much to offer.
But I did notice that you don't invoke super.paintComponent(...) which means you may have garbage being painted on the panels.
If you need further help then you need to create a "Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE)", that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour.

• How to call a custom action class present in one DC from a different DC

Hi Experts,
I have to implement one email functionality in my project.This functionality works fine if I use the Standard EmailAction class present in com.sap.isa.cic.customer package,but we need to change the email IDs in some cases so,we need to create a custom class.But if I create a custom Action class in Another DC(shext) and try to call this class from the config file present in the other DC(From where the Standard class was called),I am getting no Action Instance found for the declared Action(This Happens when the class is not present ).
From the error I interpreted that the presence of the Custom Action class is not recognised by the The DC.
Please confirm If my understanding is correct.
I also tried adding a a new public part in shrext and tried adding the same in the used dc for the DC from where I am trying to call the class.But the activity fails and it gives me the error that the DCs are Broken.Do I need to build the DCs after adding a public part or a used DC?
Please answer If anybody has faced the same issue or has a solution to it.
Thanks

Hi All,
I was able to resolve this issue myself.
I had to include the DC crm/isa/lwc and the DC mail in the used DCs of SHREXT .
So,all the jars got included automatically and I was able to create a new custom class for the required functionality.
Its working fine now.

Classes and interfaces are types.
What is the advantage of declaring a type within another one?
Do you know what is the advantage of declaring a class within another class?

• How do I write a Java Class that Loads a RPT and exports to PDF All Automatically?

Hi,

If you wanted to achieve this in a JSP page then I would suggest using the JSP Page Wizard as it allows you to select PDF as an output type. You can run the wizard and choose the PDF output and it will automatically generate the required code for you.

However, as you want to use a Java class then I would suggest downloading the following package of sample code:

http://support.businessobjects.com/communityCS/FilesAndUpdates/crxi_r2_jrc_desktop_samples.zip

This package includes a number of sample Java classes that demonstrate how to use the engine. The one that you will be interested in is titled "JRCExportReport"

To make life easier I would suggest trying the class in a Crystal Reports Web Project as the runtime libraries will automatically be in the classpath.

Anyway, give this a shot and let me know how you make out.

Regards,
Sean Johnson (CR4E Product Manager)

Rate this plugin @ Eclipse Plugin Central
