How to default zoom Safari pages with consistency?

I can't read most default page designs in Safari with my 1920x1080. Everything is too small, not to mention the current obsession with creating vertical pages wasting enough room on both sides of a horizontal monitor to show two pages side by side. The best solution to this problem is a global zoom for all things rendered by Safari, but the mechanism that enables this doesn't seem to work. The reason I want this to work is because I have to manually zoom every page I visit, two to four times. I'm guessing each zoom command activated is about 10% change, but there's nothing to indicate absolute view size. Question has been previously asked in several forms but proposals work inconsistently.
I created a default CSS file that made things a rmore easonable start:
body {
  zoom:140%;
But, this treatment doesn't scale all elements reliably as in the same manner that manually zooming inside Safari does. I presumed all rendering related to the body is affected by this, but the evidence is otherwise. Note that I'm not interested in scaling only text using prefs or the zoom text only mechanism; that leads to similar problems with how elements are designed and interact. My goal is to scale the entire view as designed without using a different screen resolution.
Most recently, Gizmodo serves as an excellent fail example. If you load the page unaltered, command++/- it will zoom faithfully, but if you use the default style sheet above you end up with mismatched elements like frames and advertisements overlapping each other, or inability to scroll. Sometimes these elements will mate with their frames if you zoom to one extent or the other and return to the desired scale, but not always. This basic zoom fail behaviour happens on other sites depending on how elements relate to each other. The bad behaviour is augmented in V8 because embedded youtube videos seem to be more messed up, scaling the controls but not the embedding window, with perceived mouse lag that makes any interaction worse.
The default style sheet seems like exactly what is required, so in a Safari rendered world, why doesn't it work as compared to the zoom command? What does the zoom command do that the zoom style doesn't? I can't seem to whittle it down to other than presuming Safari itself is rendering badly, independent of CSS interpretation. I installed FireFox as an experiment but failed to find an equivalent of Safari's default style sheet, although it does perform successfully when using menu commands, the same as Safari.

Yeah, that's the ticket.
I haven't seen anything zoomed radically bad like how the CCS option behavespanacea, so AllPagesZoom seems to be executing like a scripted command of the original menu item. Oddly, this editor window has teeny weeny text so it's not a panacea. In just a few new tabs I'm already enjoying not pounding the +key, so I hope the extension is effective in the long run. I'll call this solved, although I think the way Safari behaves is hardly a success.
Thanks for the advice.

  • Warning when closing Safari page with multiple open tabs

I have just upgradred to Mountain Lion, and Safari 6.0.  In Snow Leopard, and the version of Safari it used (I don't remember the version), there was a handy little warning dialog box which has now disappeared:
Previously, when I clicked the Close button on a Safari page with more than one tab open, I got a warning asking whether I really wanted to do that, and giving me the option to cancel or proceed.  Since I regularly clicked the Page Close button by mistake instead of the Tab Close button, this warning was a life-saver.
I no longer get this dialog in ML and Safari 6.0, and I cannot find a preference or option to get it back.  Does anybody know how to do it, or is it no longer possible?
    Thanks.

  • How link my Facebook's page with my web site?

    Hi!
How link my Facebook's page with my web site and have a preview of facebook's page on my website builted with iweb?
    Regards
    Thanks a lot.

I think it's the other way around. Sharing a webpage on Facebook.
    Here's how : http://myipad.atspace.com/size/Share.html
But if you want your FB page embedded in an iWeb page then paste the <iframe> code in a HTML Snippet.
    <iframe src="http://url.to.file.html" frameborder="0" width="500" height="500" scrolling="no" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>
Where SRC="" is the URL of your Facebook page. Change the numbers for witdh and height to make the FB page fit your webpage.

  • How do I make safari open with blank page but keep resume?

Since Lion, Safari always opens with the last opened website.
I don't want that! How can I make sure that Safari opens
with a full and BLANK screen ???
Specifically I do NOT want to uncheck resume function for ALL

    Here you go:
Go to terminal and type in the following:

You can also do the same for Preview:

  • When moving from page to page in Safari, is there a way to keep each page zoomed without zooming each page with a separate zoom gesture?

When I zoom a page in Safari and then move to a new page, the new page reverts to unzoomed status and I have to zoom again.  Is there a way to make the zoom persist as I move between pages?

Try the All Pages Zoom extension.
The select Productivity on the left.
You can install the extension from there.
After it's installed, you can access the settings from Safari / Preferences - Extensions.

  • My Safari page (with Lion) suddenly doubles in size?

With Lion, my Safari pages suddenly double in size with a slight movement of my mouse. Any ideas on how to fix this?  Also, with Lion, when I leave my iMac for some period of time, the pages freezes and the cursor point pixilates when I move the mouse. I have to turn off the computer and put in my password to restore functions. Any clues?

I'm not sure what you mean by the page doubling in size. Do you mean the contents enlarge as if you zoomed in? (The window remains the same size.) If so, check the "Smart zoom" option in the Mouse pane of System Preferences. There is a Smart Zoom option in the Trackpad pane also.

  • Mac - how do I assign safari pages to a space

I work on several projects in Google AdWords. I would like to assign each project to a specific space so that when I reboot (I like to shutdown every night) I will find my mac in roughly the same arrangement as the night before. I know how to assign apps to spaces , although I find this doesn't always work, so that is not purely the solution. When I work on a specific Google AdWords project, I might have several Safari pages open along with specific Word and Excel docs, and Adwords Editor. When I reboot in the am, I find that all Safari pages have opened the night before  are now in the space assigned to Safari and I have to go through the cumbersome time-consuming business or reassigning docs or Safari pages to a vacant space in order to better see and concentrate on just the project on which I want to work. There must be an App for That! Please help me find it.
    Thanks ahead,
    gerry

Wonder if there are any project management, window management apps that might address this issue. I think I've seen some but don't recall names.

  • How do I create photo page with blow up images on click?

I need some help trying to create a web page of photo thumbnails with blow-up larger images:
    1) I want to create a contact sheet type of web page of multiple photo thumbnails.
    2) When you click the photo it opens into a small window or "blow-up" version of the thumbnail. (Clicking the thumbnail does NOT take you to a new page with the full size image).
    3) The blow-up photo has a circle and X that will close the blow-up window.
I've already figured out how create pages of thumbnails that will take you to a new page with the full size image. I'm trying to create the effect where you never leave the main page, the thumbnails just blow-up into small windows that can be closed again.
Apple uses this effect a lot with photos and movie clips on their page. An example of what I am trying to do can be found on the iLife/iPhoto/MobileMeGallery info page at Apple.
If you look to the right just under the main large banner images, there is a grey box titled "iPhoto Showcase." If you click one of the thumbnails there, the picture blows out to a larger size of the image, but doesn't take you to another page. The blow-up image has a little circle and X at the top left to close the window. Main page is still visible behind the blow-up window.
I'm using a fairly new MacBook with OS 10.5, iPhoto and iWeb '08. I also have Aperture 2.0. I don't have a .Mac or MobileMe account yet. I'm a recent convert from the Darkside, so right now I use google's Picasa Web Albums and google's website creator for my site. If I can get this to work, I'll make the switch MobileMe once the early .Mac conversion kinks get worked out.
    Thanks,

That's the effect that I'm looking for. I've read through the instructions on Cabel's website (thanks for the great links!) But I'm afraid I'm still a bit of a novice with website creation and editing. I liked your iWeb examples, so I have a few follow-up questions about how to integrate this with iWeb.
    1) Do you use iWeb and .Mac/MobileMe to publish your site? I already own a domain and have been using google's online page creator tools to create some very basic pages. For picture pages, I just put up links to my Picasa web albums. But the google user interface and options (no FTP upload) are even more limited than iWeb and .Mac. With 20GB of storage, plus the other features and ability for integration, MobileMe sounds enticing for the price.
    2) At what point do you add the code to the pages in the edit and publish process? What are the exact steps you use to publish? (Create and edit in iWeb, add html code, publish to folder or publish straight to .Mac/MobileMe, etc.)
    3) If you make changes to pages in iWeb, do you have to keep adding the code to the pages and repeat the steps from above question?
    4) What app do you use to edit the html code? No html edit function in iWeb, so I tried opening the "page.html" files in TextEdit but the page just looked like a web page. No code. How do I get the text of the html code to open in TextEdit or another app?
    5) Do the lines of code (2 lines in "head" and 1 line in "body") need to be added to every page that I want to use the effect?
    6) How do you upload the two FancyZoom folders to a .Mac/MobileMe account site? And where exactly do they need to be placed?
