How to delete a row in target when corresponding row in source is deleted

Environment:
Repository - OWB 10.1.0.4 - going to 10gR2 very soon
- IBM RS6000 running AIX 5.3
I have a target table being updated with an INSERT/UPDATE. The user deleted a row in the source table and I want to delete the corresponding row in the target table.
How do I do this in the map?

Thanks very much for the responses. Now that I have thought it through more carefully I see I can still have a single instance of the source table and send it through the MINUS operator with the target table followed by a DELETE into the target table and still have the existing logic for the INSERT/UPDATE into a second occurrence of the target table.
It won't matter what order OWB puts together the two operations on the target table:
- if it does the DELETE first the new rows that haven't been added to the target table will come out of the MINUS operator but not be found yet in the target table so not deleted.
- if it does the INSERT/UPDATE first the newly added rows will not come out of the MINUS operator and hence not deleted from the target.
Must have been a brain fart.

How to return 0 on max function when no rows found

Hi everyone!
I am using a max fuction, but I want that the function return 0 if there are not rows that match with the conditions.
I was thinking in something like this
SELECT nvl(max(salary),0)
But it doesn't work, it doesn't show the value 0
Please someone can give and idea

Welcome to the forum!
NVL (salary, 0) returns either salary or 0 on each row. It does not change number of rows.
To make sure that rows exist, you can do an outer join, like this:
SELECT NVL ( MAX (t.salary)
            , 0
            )    AS max_salary
FROM             dual
LEFT OUTER JOIN table_x t ON 1 = 1

If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all the tables involved, and the results you want from that data.
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
Always say what version of Oracle you're using (e.g. 11.2.0.2.0).

How to keep email on AOL server when mirror email on Mail is deleted?

I linked my AOL account to Mail.app (on my MacBook) via IMAP protocol using the AOL Service Assistant. I understand that under this protocol, the emails on my IMAP is a mirror image of what is on the AOL server and vice versa. Hence if I delete any messages in Mail, it is also deleted on the AOL server. Is there any way that I can delete the message in Mail but have it remain on the AOL server?

I don't use Apple Mail, so I can't directly answer your question, but even if there is a procedure to do what you want, after a certain amount of time, I think it may be about seven days, AOL will still remove the Emails from the server,
If you want to retain all of your AOL mail, you can do it with the AOL software, if it is installed.
Open AOL Preferences > Mail.
Select Save the mail I read & Save the mail I send.
Then still in AOL Preferences, use the scroll bar to navigate to Filing Cabinet, and click on that.
Checkmark Automatically delete items in my filing cabinet, and in the contextual menus, below Delete after, select Never.
Click on OK.

How to update the value of a column when a row is deleted

Hi,
My requirement is basically i have a table .Below is a sample data along with sample data
Column A Column B ColumnC
1 SAM 0
2 RAM 0
Now if i run a delete statement saying
delete from Table where ColumnA =1 then i want to see the value of ColumnC to be updated as 1.The row shouldnt be deleted however the value of ColumnC should be changed to 1.
Can someone please help me with any suggestions? I can create a trigger but i havent worked with triggers so not sure on how to use it.
Please let me know if i am unclear or if you need any details.

As I understand what you need is an INSTEAD OF DELETE trigger like below
CREATE TRIGGER Trg_TableName
ON TableName
INSTEAD OF DELETE
AS
BEGIN
UPDATE t
SET ColumnC = 1
FROM TableName t
WHERE EXISTS (SELECT 1
FROM DELETED
WHERE ColumnA = t.ColumnA
END
this will set ColumnC to 1 and will not do an actual delete of the row.

Unable to delete rows from Target.

Hello everyone,
I am unable to delete rows from target data store. Here is what I have done.
Source Oracle 10g - staging 11g - Target Oracle 11g
I have implemented consistent set CDC on data model in staging and added 2 tables to CDC and turned on the journals . Both tables A and B are joined together via Column E (primary key of table A). Table A is the master table(has foreign key). Table B is child table. Target column consists of all the columns of both table A and B.
Following is what I am able to do and not to do
ABLE TO DO. If data is inserted into both or any of journalized tables I can successfully load the same in target by performing following steps. 1. Extend the consistency window at model level. Lock subscriber. Run the interface with any source table marked as Journalized data only. Unlock subscriber and purge journal.
ABLE TO DO. If data is updated in any of the journalized table, along with the steps mentioned above I can execute two interfaces. In one Interface table A marked as journalized data only Joined with table B and in second interface table B marked as Journalized data only joined to table a.
NOT ABLE TO DO If data is deleted from one or both tables it shows up as journalized data in JV$D<tablename> marked as D with date and subscriber name but when i run the interface by extending the window , locking subscriber executing both interfaces, unlock subscriber purge journals. no change takes place is Target. After unlocking subscriber step, journalized data gets removed from JV$D view. Please let me know what I am doing wrong here. How can rows delted from source can also be deleted from TARGET?
NOTE : In the flow table SYNC_JRNL_DELETES is YES
In moel under jounalized table tab Table have following order Table A folloed by Table B

Sorry I still do not get it. when you say "Its a legacy app", are you talking about the VB.NET app ?
If so then I repeat my self :-) Why not to connecting to the SQL server directly?
* even if you need information from several databases (for example ACCESS + SQL Server), in most cases, it is much better to connect directly and get each information to the app. Then in your app you can combine the information and analyse it

Songs can be removed from your iPhone by tapping 'Songs,' then swiping the song, then tapping Delete.

Try this...
have a text convo with the person you want to delete. Go to the top contact in the text convo, hit edit contact, and delete that contact.
That resolution came from another thread on this issue, and this did solve to poster's issue.

Need to Set Current Row when Using Built-in Data Control Delete Operation?

I have an af:table bound to a ViewObject (VO) collection (no Entity Object) - within each row, I include a column that contains a 'Remove' command button so the user can remove the row. I add the command button by dragging/dropping the built-in delete operation from the VO on the Data Control Palette. When I use this as is (no changes), the Remove button always deletes the first row in the collection, not the selected row. Do I need to add code to set the current row, and if so can someone please provide an example and specify where I need to add? thanks.

I just want to delete (or remove) it from the VO. Data for this VO is not on the database.
The function is doing what I want it to do (delete from the VO), its just always deleting the first row, versus the selected row. I select the command button next on a column next to an item further down in the list and it deletes the first row. The problem is setting the selected row to be removed - I thought setting the current row would be taken care of by the SelectListener?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion. Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If you have failed to bakup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

Just to change a bit of terminology in the reply, within the mapping, click on operator properties and choose TRUNCATE/INSERT.
Note that truncate is dependent on constraints, so you probably must disable those before doing this. You can of course do DELETE/INSERT...

How to dynamically load an Image into a TableView when its row/cell becomes visible?

Hi,
I am building an application that shows tables with large amounts of data containing columns that should display a thumbnail. However, this thumbnail is supposed to be loaded in the background lazily, when a row becomes visible because it is computationally too expensive to to this when the model data is loaded and typically not necessary to retrieve the thumbnail for all data that is in the table.
I have done the exact same thing in the past in a Swing application by doing this:
Whenever the model has changed or the vertical scrollbar has moved:
- Render a placeholder image in the custom cell renderer for this JTable if no image is available in the model object representing the corresponding row
- Compute the visible rows by using getVisibleRect and rowAtPoint methods in JTable
- Start a background thread that retrieves the image for the given rows and sets the resulting BufferedImage in a custom Model Object that was used in the TableModel (if not already there because of an earlier run)
- Fire a corresponding model change event in the EDT whenever an image has been retrieved in the background thread so the row is rendered again
Btw. the field in the model class holding the BufferedImage was a weak reference in this case so the memory can be reclaimed as needed by the application.
What is the best way to achieve this behaviour using a JFX TableView? I have so far failed to find anything in the API to retrieve the visible items/rows. Is there a completely different approach available/required that uses the Cell API? I fail to see it so far.

Here’s what I have tried so far:
I have defined a property in my model object that contains a weak reference to the image that is expensive to load. I have modeled that reference as an inner class to the object so I have a reference to its enclosing object. That is necessary because my cell factory otherwise has no access to the enclosing model object, which it needs to trigger loading the image in the background.
The remaining problems I have is, that I don’t have sufficient control over the loading process, i.e. I need to delay the loading process until scrolling has stopped and abort it as soon as the user starts scrolling again and the visible content changes. Imagine that loading an image for a table row (e.g. a thumbnail for a video) takes 200ms to load and a user quickly scrolls through a few hundred records and then stops. With my current set-up, the user has to wait for all loading processes that were triggered in the cell factories to finish until the thumbnails of the records they are looking at will appear (imagine an application like finder to be implemented like that, it would simply suck UX-wise). In my swing application a background thread that loads images for the visible records is triggered with a delay and stopped as soon as the visible content changes. This works well enough for a good user experience. I don’t see how I can do this based on the cell API. It is nice to have all this abstracted away but in this case I do not see how I can achieve the same user experience as in my swing application.
I also tried registering a change listener to the TreeCell’s visible property to make that control the image loading but I don’t seem to get any change events at all when I do that.
I must be missing something.
