  • Issues deploying a cloud service with two endpoints (HTTP and HTTPS)

    I ran into an issue this week in the azure portal when I tried to deploy a cloud service with two endpoints.  (I am using the azure sdk 2.2).  I deployed the cloud service to production with the following endpoints in the ServiceDefinition.csdef:
    <WebRole name="NameChanged.Web" vmsize="Small">
    <Sites>
    <Site name="Web">
    <Bindings>
    <Binding name="HttpsIn" endpointName="HttpsIn" />
    <Binding name="HttpIn" endpointName="HttpIn" />
    </Bindings>
    </Site>
    </Sites>
    <Endpoints>
    <InputEndpoint name="HttpIn" protocol="http" port="80" />
    <InputEndpoint name="HttpsIn" protocol="https" port="443" certificate="NameChangedCertificate" />
    </Endpoints>
    <Imports>
    <Import moduleName="Diagnostics" />
    </Imports>
    <Certificates>
    <Certificate name="NameChangedCertificate" storeLocation="LocalMachine" storeName="My" />
    </Certificates>
    </WebRole>
    I followed the directions here (http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/cloud-services-configure-ssl-certificate/)
    in Step 3 for deploying the cloud service to the azure portal.  And HTTP worked just fine, but the HTTPS endpoint didn't work, we would get a 502 error whenever we tried to access the service via HTTPS.
    We spent a lot of time to debug and see why HTTPS wasn't working, but everything we tried resulted in the same result:  502 error code when accessing the site
    via HTTPS.
    The only way that we were able to get HTTPS working for the cloud service in azure, was to completely delete our instance in the azure portal, and then do a two step deployment:
    Step 1 - Remove the HTTP endpoint from our ServiceDefinition.csdef, like so:
    <Site name="Web">
    <Bindings>
    <Binding name="HttpsIn"
    </Bindings>
    </Site>
    </Sites>
    <Endpoints>
    <InputEndpoint name="HttpsIn" protocol="https" port="443" certificate="staging" />
    </Endpoints>
    </WebRole>
    We then deployed the service to the azure portal.  AND THE SERVICE WORKED WITH HTTPS!!!
    Step 2 - We added the HTTP endpoint back into the ServiceDefinition.csdef, redeployed and both HTTP and HTTPS worked on the site.
    I wanted to post this to help others that may have the same issue, and to see if anyone else has experienced this same thing?  Is this an issue in the azure 2.2 SDK?  This seems like a work around for getting both HTTP and HTTPS endpoints for a
    cloud service, and it seems "wrong".  Does anyone have a better way to do this?

    Hi Tim;
    This seems to be an very useful workaround thanks for sharing it. Hopefully this will come in handy for many of us.

  • How to deploy a Desktop Access 2010 app via Azure and RemoteApp?

    I currently sell an Access 2010 app that uses the 2010 Access Runtime for deployment on desktop PCs. I very much would like to make it available over the internet on PC/Mac/iPad using the Azure RemoteApp, if possible. The Access app has a number of supporting
    files- it’s not just an Access accdb or accde file. For it to work correctly all the supporting files need to be in folders related to the main accde/accdb fie. Those files are a few other accde files, csv, pdf, and some folders.
    Each of my clients (a company) may have 1-15 simultaneous users. On the Desktop Access version, I have a Front End accde installed on each workstation and a single Back End accdb data file installed on a shared drive. Each FE workstation is linked to the
    single BE data file. I would need to replicate this somehow on an Azure VM (like perhaps have a designated folder for the BE data file that each user account’s FE is linked to?).
    I created an Azure VM (server 2012 R2) and installed the Access Desktop App on it. I can access that full VM with RDP (and see the whole desktop, not just my Access app). What I’m trying to figure out is a way to do this with RemoteApp- can RemoteApp use
    my Access 2010 app as an available ‘app’ or does the user need to see the whole VM desktop?
    As well, in my Azure portal the ‘RemoteApp’ option is grayed out ‘pending approval’ so I can’t test it.
    Any help figuring this out would be great. Thanks-

    I ended up a great solution for this. I'm using 3 Windows Server 2012 R2 VMs to run it as a RemoteApp program. It's set up sort of like this:
    VM 1: RD Broker
    VM 2: Active Directory (where Users/Groups are created)
    VM 3: AppServer (where the Access app is actually located and run on- the VM2/Active Directory 'talks' to the AppServer to create/validate users but all the action happens on VM3).
    RemoteApp requires Windows Server 2012 so I don't think it'll work with Server 2008. The great thing about RemoteApp is it opens the Access 2010 Front End in a unique window, all on its own. The user doesn't need to see the Desktop of the server- they just
    see the Access Navigation Form(s).
    In brief, on the VM3/AppServer I have a  unique folder for the backend Access data file and a User Account (created in the VM2 Active Directory) for each user with the frontend Access file in C/Users/Username/AppData.
    RemoteApp- when the user logs in via the RemoteApp app- points to that specific user profile's frontend Access db in that location and opens it in its own window on their host computer. And since each FE is linked to a common BE data file everyone uses the
    same data, just like in a regular LAN Server FE/BE setup.
    It required some changes in the Access app to deal with it- uploading images and files, emailing straight from the app, etc but it was worth it. I also had to pay a development company to set up the 2012 R2 Servers, as I didn't know the details of how to
    do that myself. But I'm managing the setup, ongoing, and it's not so hard to do.
    So now my customers can run the Access app on a PC, Mac, or iPad pretty much anywhere. Excellent way to extend an Access application..

  • How do I give a custom tag to an email and how do I then see it on the inbox display

    If this is not possible, how can I reassign the tag colors (which do display where I want them) to give them my own meaning?
    This is for thunderbird on windows 7.

    OK, those are Microsoft Word files. If you need to actually 'sign' them, you can scan your signature (or get a friend to do it for you) and insert it where it needs to be signed.
    You may want to ask whomever is sending you the documents to save them in PDF format - that will make the document simpler to sign and won't be 'changed' because of font conflicts, etc.

  • How to deploy an Azure server to host Dynamics GP and CRM

    I am looking for a step by step guide to Azure and how to setup Dynamics GP and CRM. We are looking to move our GP clients to Azure and I want to perform a test migration. So I need to know how to start. I need to create the Azure site, create a server
    with a domain, install SQL and then finally GP and CRM. If anyone can point to the appropriate links or training videos that would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Florent,
    I strongly recommend you follow the sap solution manager  E2E RCA setup guide.
    I registered the system on solution manager as abap system.
    Keep in mind that you have to perform some additional steps for java instances and also check sap prereq. for PI. I had two apply some notes...
    Cheers

  • Best way to deploy ODI artifacts across Dev,UAT and Prod

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement wherein we have to deploy the ODI artifacts from one repository to the other across various instances.
    From what I learned from the export and import operations in Oracle Data Integrator documents provided by Oracle, we need to have Internal Identifiers (IDs) for each and every export and import. And while importing the work repository, we have to delete the old one and then import the new one.Is there a way where we can use the existing identifier and just append the changes?
    Do we have any better way of deploying the ODI artifacts across Dev,UAT,Prod instances that would import the artifacts and also import the changes to the existing artifacts?
    Any kind of information related to deployement is higly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

    For ODI specific questions please post to ODI Forum at Data Integrator
    Hope this helps
    Thanks & Regards !

  • How to set up DEV, TEST and PROD environment?

    We have used BI publisher Enterprise (standalone), Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1. Our admin set up DEV, TEST and PROD environment based on the folder. For example, there is DEV folder, TEST folder and PROD folder. Developer is developing reports under DEV folder. Under TEST and PROD folder, there are many sub-folder based on the login user role. Sometimes a report has to be assigned to a multiple sub-folder under PROD. So our admin create symbolic links in the Linux box which BI server is located. That way, if a report is updated, there is no need to update the report in all sub-folder.
    The issue I have is we are not allowed to touch any files under TEST/PROD folder. Only admin will move the report from DEV folder to TEST/PROD folder because those links admin created might be broken. However, as a developer, we still have permission to delete/rename/copy report under those restricted folders. Yesterday one report under PROD has been renamed by a developer. And admin complains because the links he has created not working anymore. Just wonder if admin doesn't allow developers to touch the reports under those folders, is there a way to remove the write permission on those folders? Also do you think this is a good practice to set up DEV, TESDT and PROD environment? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

  • OIM 10g - custom connector - modify user

    Hi
    I am writing a custom connector for OIM 10g and looking out for modify request format. My application has roles which are managed by OIM. When I call 'modify user' to update user's role in the application, I want to have the information of old role and new role in the connector. Please let me know how can I get the information of old role for the provisioned resource. I want to log the information that at the time of 'modify user' which role was newly added and which role was deleted.
    Does anybody has information about how this can be implemented.
    Thanks

    Well , When you write a process task for adding/ removing the child table , you specify in the task configuration the child table name and trigger type (insert OR delete)..
    So when you add or remove operation from child process form in OIM, OIM know which task it has to trigger and you can put the logic to add /remove the role in the adapter attached to the task .
    Thanks

  • Need help to develop a custom connector

    I need some help on developing the custom connector to Homegrown application and the version i am using is OIM9.0.3
    First of all what are the steps do we need to care while developing a custom connector.
    I can't able to find the process in google to develop the custom connector.
    If you have any data regarding the development of custom connector, plz share to me....
    What are the thing do we need to take care while developing the connector.
    I referred in OIM9.1 version there was an option to develop the Custom connector by using Genric technology, can we create the custom connector by using the GTC feature in OIM 9.1
    early response will be appreciated

    The docs for the new GTC framework are here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10391_01/doc.910/e10360/about.htm#Toc153968019. GTC is useful if you target application exposes standards-based SPML (Service Provisioning Markup Language) user management interfaces, although it sounds like this isn't the case for you.
    You will most likely need to go the traditional route in terms of connector development, which involves building OIM Process Task Adapters to invoke the application API's (I assume they're Java?) and invoking those adapters from within an OIM Provisioning Process.

  • How to deploy worker role to Azure cloud via portal

    Hi
    I have two worker roles in my VS Project and I need them to be running on Azure cloud. I have created the storage accounts, the worker roles are using Queues, that I created using c# code.
    I looked up some articles and they say I have to create a hosted services from top left corner, but I don't see any hosted service link on my portal. (I am thinking the new version of Azure Portal does not have hosted service link, probably been replaced
    with something else but I don't know what it is)
    Can someone please help me what to do after I create a package and have the config and package files in app.publish folder. How to deploy the  worker roles in cloud using the Portal
    Thanks
    -Sarah

    Hi,
    >>I looked up some articles and they say I have to create a hosted services from top left corner
    As far as I know, cloud service was called hosted service in old azure platform, see below old platform screenshot.
    About deploy your application to cloud service, please refer to
    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/cloud-services-how-to-create-deploy/ for more detail information.
