How to design a complicated and attractive jsf pages in jdeveloper

Hi All,
I have tried to deisgn jsf pages to looking attractive. But i cannot able to achieve that and it took me more time to design little complicated.
Can anyone refer me any link or tell me how to design more complicated page.
what is the layout procedure for that.
My jdev version - 11.1.2.0.0

what is the layout procedure for that.Well… there's a lot to this. First, you'll have to have an idea of what should be on your page; how it is presented is ultimately a design decision, not one of layout. Once you have a design (paper sketches?), then you can proceed to start 'cutting up' your designs into larger components. Perhaps your applicaiton will have a larger page template that holds 'content' of other pages/page fragments.
(If you're coming from OAF, for example, this is a pretty big difference - in ADF page design is very flexible, and how information is presented is largely up to developers/designers. There's no single method for laying out a page.)

According to the book "Core JavaServer Faces" p213 (fifth edition), if I add the following line to messages.properties file, and specifiy it in the faces-config.xml and .jsp file, then the displayed conversion error message should be my tailored one instead of the default. I didn't choose any special in JDeveloper IDE. I just selected "new" to create a file called "message.properties" and put the line there. I didn't specify converters excepts declaring the type in the Jave Beans. I guess the converting is done by the JSF framework automatically. It must be a JSF converter since I created the page as a JSF page.

How to use Apache MyFaces components in JSF pages + Eclipse?

I've managed to write my JSF web app. in Eclipse jee, and test it on JBoss 4.2 GA, within Eclipse, but how to import Apache MyFaces components into Eclipse JSF plug-in?
If I can't import it nicely, how to use those components directly in JSF pages?

The Tomahawk component library provides MyFaces components. Install it as you would any other component library.

In otherwords,
If I create the Button dynamically with particular ID being set to that component, then how can I call button action event when the button is clicked??

You can create left and right single quotes with option + }, and shift + option + }, respectively.
Double quotes work the same way using the { character substituted above.
Menu > Format > Font > Baseline:
Superscript is control + command and +
Subscript is control + command and -

Any Idea how to get DB connection for JSP Pages.
Our Java guys developed one JSP page for Login page.
After Log in instead of standard responsibilites page we calling custom jsp page, For getting DB connection they defined one properties file and hard coded DB details on that file and calling, but client is not accepting hard coding.
Pls give any idea for getting DB connection directly in JSP pages.

Could you please help me on how to design sequence and sub sequence number in DMEE structure.

How to Design User Accounts and Groups for Human Task

Hi All,
I have a requirement wherein we have a group of people to whom tasks get assigned. Details are below
Assume
PO- Purchase Order
IN- Invoice
CL1 - Client 1
CL2 - Client 2
CL3 - Client 3
REP1 - User 1
REP2 - User 2
REP3 - User 3
APP1 - Approver 1
APP2 - Approver 2
APP3 - Approver 3
1. There are two groups of people say PO_Team and IN_Team.
2. REPx are the folks who are in the IN_Team. They handle monitor invoices and run reports on them (READ - Only)
3. APPx are the folks who are in the PO_team. They approve order and sometimes modify them (READ-WRITE)
4. CLIx are the clients each of whom send PO and expect IN in return
5. CLI1 - APP1- REP1 together handle one client.
Now the requirement is something like this
1. APP1 must be able to see the PO and IN only from CLI1
2. APP1 must be able to see editable view of PO from CLI1
3. APP1 must be able to see red only view of IN from CLI1
4. REP1 must be able to see the PO and IN only from CLI1
5. REP1 must be able to see read only view of IN from CLI1
6. REP1 must be able to see read only view of PO from CLI1
7. In exception cases APP1 can assign a PO from CLI1 to APP2
Can someone help me in the design of groups and permissions for this?

Groups are the way to go. Every Human Task can be assigned to either a user or a group or a user and a group. Select the last option so that it goes to a particular user but also to a group. That way anyone in the group can approve these tasks though it is sent to one particular users list. Anyone from that group can pick that task up and approve it

Is it possible to export and import jsf page and application module?

Hi,
I want to export a application module and then import it to another application,so deos jsf pages.If I can do this ,then my team could do the diffent work at the same time.one group response for data model then commit as application module,one group for page create and edit and so on .Who has any good idea?

You know a page include a .jspx file,a page definition file and depend faces-config.xml,faces-config.oxd_faces and other I don't know information,so if i only put the first two file into cvs,but how can i get other information in the last two file?When I get the first two file and needed information in the other file,how can i merge these into new project and let jdeveloper "reconize it"?Applicaion is more complex,it not only depend its self java class,xml and many entity object and view object,how to handle the "export" and "import" process?Just like oracle form,only a fmb is enough,database object only need to "put into database","export" and "import" are very simple,so i need jdeveloper to supply these "import" and "export" function.I'm not familar with cvs,does it can know object dependency like application module?if it can,how to let jdev "reconize" imported in object?

Move and rename JSF page

How can I rename a JSF page? and how can I move a JSF page from one viewController project to another?

I am using JDev 10 and there is no refactor menu for refactoring a *.jsp page. You can create a new page and copy the content out of the old page into the newer. But dont forget to customize the faces-config.xml and your corresponding backing bean before you delete the old page.

How to set content type for a JSF page

Hi,
I want to know is there any way we can specify the content type of a JSF page, like in JSPs we have the page attribute <%@ page contentType="application/vnd.ms-excel" %>
In JSP we can create a html table with values and if we specify the contenType as application/vnd.ms-excel, we would get an excel file generated.
But do we have something similar to this is JSF, as I am using Facelets I cannot use page directive in the xhtml file.
I tried setting the content type in MangedBean's action as follows
((HttpServletResponse)FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getResponse()).setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel"); but it did'nt work.

I'm building my JSF pages based on a template that has a navigation pane which contains command navigation items , every one of them (command navigation items) appears as a link at runtime and calls a JSF page , I wish to get the initial state for any page when leaving it then entering such page again , and I would like to know what is the suitable place to write the code to do this task.

How to align the components in a jsf page?

In my use case I need to use three UI components like push down menu
a textbox and a button. when I dragged all the things on to my jsf page
I am getting one by one.( I mean to say that I am getting button beneath pushdown
and pushdown beneath the text box)
I want all these components adjacent to each other.Kindly come up with the suggestions.

These three components surround with af:panelGroupLayout and set af:panelGroupLayout layout property to horizontal (you can find layout property in common section of Property Inspector).

Blank index.jsp and some jsf pages within WebContent folder

I have a problem with a blank index.jsp forwarding to a jsf file i.e. <jsp:forward page="/pages/xxx.jsf" />
I have tested with index.html (is showing with right contents), index.jsp (page loaded but blank), index.jsf (page loaded but blank).
Web Server details : Tomcat 6.0.18 running on Linux.
Folder structure is

You can't expect Mail to support all the objects of Pages which can include anything up to charts generated from spreadsheet tables.
Even if Mail was a superset of Pages, what would the recipients who don't have either Mail or Pages, make of it?
