How to determine underlying tables?

Hi All
Is there any way to determine underlying tables where data is going when we open and save any transactions?
For example : When we open transaction /va01 and create any orders and save.
The data go into VBAK /VBAP tables.
Thanks
Yogesh

Hi
Please use transaction<b> ST05</b> - SQL Trace to know the underlying tables
1. Goto ST05 - Activate Trace
2. Perform your transaction.
3. Go back to ST05 - Deactivate Trace
4. Display Trace.
it will give the tables being used and if you look carefully the syntaxes with INSERT or UPDATe are the tables being updated. You could also see the values that you have used in the Transaction

  • How to determine Default Table Logging (log data changes )

Does anyone know how to view exactly what tables and related data fields have change logging enabled by default? I know that some of the standard reports will produce "edit reports" show who changed what field, when ,old and new values, etc, but I don't know how to determine where the data is retrieved from.
For example: If I look in the ABAP Dictionary at table LFA1, technical settings, it shows that log data changes is not "checked" or enabled. But if I run the standard AR Master Data Change Report, I get output showing valid field changes.
I have seen other threads that refer to SCU3 but I can't determine the above this from report.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Arthur,
As far as I am aware, these are 2 different things.
There is table logging which is at the table level & if activated (i.e. it's listed in table DD0LV, PROTOKOLL=X and the table logging parameter is set in the system profile/s).
The second one is programatical logging for change documents when data is maintained though a program that has been written to include a log.  I'm not sure how to identify a complete lit of these though unfortunately.
Hope that is of some assistance.

  • How to determine actual table control line

    Hi experts,
How can I determine the table control line in case of scrollable table control.
I tried this one, but did not worked correctly:
        GET CURSOR LINE l_line_fc2.
        l_line = l_line_fc2 + ctrl_mod-top_line - 1.
Everytime I try to catch the top_line of the table control its value is always 1. Is it possible?

    Hi,
Current table control line will be found in SY-STEPL.

  • How to determine all tables used in a series of maps?

Hi, I'd like to find out all of the tables in the source warehouse builder schemas that are actually being used during ETL. I imported the entire databases at the start of the project, and want to find out which of the 2000 tables are actually being used.
Is there a simple query I can run against the repository owner views to determine all tables actively being queried?
Thanks in advance for the help!
    Scott

    Scott,
maybe the simplest way to report tables usage in mappings is extracting this info from DB dictionary view DBA_DEPENDENCIES.
Of course this method has several limitations:
    - all mappings must be of type PLSQL
    - all mappings must be deployed to target database
    - maybe it doesn't work for non-Oracle source databases
For example, this query (when executed in target DWH schema) shows remote databases (and number of used tables in each source DB) used by PLSQL packages (mappings, of course you need to exclude "non-mapping" packages with additional filter)
    select REFERENCED_LINK_NAME,count(distinct REFERENCED_OWNER||'.'||REFERENCED_NAME) from user_dependencies
where REFERENCED_LINK_NAME is not null and type='PACKAGE BODY'
    group by REFERENCED_LINK_NAME;
When source and target schemas are in the same DB this query will be different
(in this this case source system will be identified by REFERENCED_OWNER column and REFERENCED_LINK_NAME will be NULL).
As I know OWB repository tables/views for lineage/impact analysis are not published/documented by Oracle.

  • How to determine most recent date from the date column of internal table

    Dear friends
would you like to tell me. how i determine the most recently changed record by looking at date and time from internal table i am not supposed to sort the table by date and time... I must check date and time with other records date and time to determine which record is most recently changed...
    here the scenario is.
    id idnumber chdate chtime
    1 123456 20060606 135312
    2 123456 20060606 135900
    3 123456 20060606 132300
    4 123457 20060606 140000
    5 123457 20060606 142500
in the above scenario i must keep in my mind that the most recently changed record is identical to its idnumber i can say that:
the record should be fetched this way
    id idnumber chdate chtime
    3 123456 20060606 132300
    5 123457 20060606 142500
because here the id 3 is the most recently changed in the idnumber 123456
where id 5 is the most recently changed in the idnumber 123457
please help me to determin how i am supposed to carry out this task any suggestion, code will be great help of mine.
    regards
    Naim

After testing my suggestion above, I realized that it doesn't work because the delete adjacent actually will keep the first one and delete the rest.  I'm working with Srinivas's code a bit now,  I think it is almost what you want.  I am under the impression that you dont' want to HIGHest date/time, but just the last record of the sequence, if this is the case, then this code will help.  Here we will assign an index to each record per the idnumber, that way we can sort it and get the lastest record.

  • How to determine cursorline in table control

    Hi,
Every time an entry is inserted in the table control i need to put the cursorline in the next line.
It is ok while you are using the initial lines of the table control but when you use the scroll it is gone.
    The complet scenario is:
    - my table control is created with 5 lines.
    - Every time the user inserts a line, a new line is created (so you will have always 5 lines behind to complete)
    - when the 5th line is inserted, if you want to fill the 6tn you have to use the scroll
    - In this moment is when i dont know how to determine the cursorline. It will be different depending how much de the scroll is moved. Maybe the correct cursorline is 5, or 3 or 2... Do you know how i can determine it? Is it possible?
Maybe the way would be to move the table control (scroll) one position and always cursorline would be 5, but i dont know if it possible neither.
    Thank you,
    Manel

    Sorry misunderstood the question.
You will have to use the variable topline from the tablecontrol.

  • [JS CS3] How to determine if a table is threaded

I'm trying to figure out how to determine if a selected table flows from one threaded text frame to the next.
Given a table "myTable", I know that myTable.parent is a textFrame.
I know that myTable.parent.nextTextFrame and myTable.parent.previousTextFrame will give me the next/previous linked text frames, but how can I determine if the table flows into the next frame or not?
    Thanks,
    ~ Keith

    table.cells[0].insertionPoints[0].parentTextFrames[0] gives you the
text frame of the first cell
    table.cells[-1].insertionPoints[0].parentTextFrames[0] gives you the
text frame of the last cell
If they are different, the table flows into another text frame...

  • How does Oracle determine a table as key-preserved or not?

I tried joining employees and departments in HR schema. Normally, departments is not key-preserved in the join operation. But I've arranged in the view so that each department has exactly one employee, so that dept_no may become the key for the join. But still, it said "cannot modify non key-preserved table". Any hints? does the joining type (left or right or inner or outer) affect the mechanism on how Oracle determine which are key-preserved and which are not? thanks.

  • How to determine fixed line of table control using BDC program ?

    Dear All,
I create program using BDC that contains table control.
Unfortunately the table control line of BDC program will depend on the resolution of our PC setting.
Sometime I have 2 lines, sometime 3 lines (in different PC).
How to determine fixed line of table control?
So it will never be confusing me whether I have 2 or 3 lines.
    Thnx - Regards,
    (Taufik K.)

    Hi Taufik,
Check the table CTU_PARAMS and field DEFSIZE for setting fixed line of a table control.
    CALL TRANSACTION 'VA01' USING it_bdcdata
    OPTIONS FROM OPT
    MESSAGES INTO it_mesg.
    opt of type ctu_params.
    WA_CTU_PARAMS-DISMODE = 'N'. "no screen mode
    WA_CTU_PARAMS-UPDMODE = 'S'. "synchronus update
    WA_CTU_PARAMS-NOBINPT = 'X'.
    WA_CTU_PARAMS-NOBIEND = 'X'.
    WA_CTU_PARAMS-DEFSIZE = 'X'. "Default size
Default size will play good role in terms of resoultion. in one system in table control you can see 10rows, but in others system it will show 20 records. it depends on resoultion. but when you set the default size then it will take same (default screen size) in all the systems when you run BDC.
    Reward if helps.

  • Determine if database view column is foreign key in underlying table

    Hi,
I have posted this same question to the General Database Discussions and JDBC forums.
I am using Oracle database 10g (10.1.0.4.0 - 64 bit production) standard edition on Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 3, JDK 1.4.2 and the latest Oracle JDBC (thin) driver.
We have a java GUI application that is a front-end for our database. Some of the data entry screens display data from database views. If a column in the view is a foreign key in the underlying table, we want to display a combo-box with the valid values so that the user can choose a correct value.
Is there some way to know whether a column in a view is a foreign key in the view's underlying table?
    Thanks,
    Avi.

I take that back.. I did figure something out for ya.. After reading some elses post I wrote this code... but its time to go home... I believe this will show you all the constraints and constraint types for the underlying tables of all the views for a user. You can mess with it and get it to return only FK (constraint_type = 'R') and only for a single view if ya like... The all_dependencies data dictionary view is the key to this whole operation...
    select con.table_name, ucc.column_name, con.constraint_name, con.constraint_type
    from all_constraints con, all_cons_columns ucc
    where con.owner = user and
    con.owner = ucc.owner and
    con.table_name = ucc.table_name and
    con.table_name in
    (SELECT referenced_name
    FROM all_dependencies
    WHERE referenced_owner = USER
    AND referenced_type = 'TABLE'
    AND type = 'VIEW');

  • How to figure a datsource underlying tables

    Hi,
I want to find out if there is any standard procedure to figure out the underlying tables of a particular data source both standard SAP and  Non SAP?
I know that for Logistics (LO) we can find it from the maintenance option of LBWE

For LO datasources, in LBWE tcode, expand the tree and click on the maintain structure of the datasource, next window you will see MC*. The letters after MC represents table name.
For ex. for sales you will get MCVBAK, MCVBAP. Means table names are VBAK and VBAP.
You can also serach in http://help.sap.com/search/sap_trex.jsp
Give the data source name. Filter the search result for datasource (click on datasource green symbol in right hand side of page). Then click on the required result link. It will show you all the information about datasource.
    Like http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/67/eecac778e50f4994e2f6686f3cbd3d/frameset.htm
you can check in ROOSOURCE table also.
    Check out this blog /people/sap.user72/blog/2005/09/05/sap-bw-and-business-content-datasources-in-pursuit-of-the-origins

  • How to know a table column name in HTML (Hyperion Interactive Reporting).

    Hello,
I have a Hyperion Interactive Reporting dashboard section with an embembed table section on it.
The dashboard it will be open only in HTML.
I put the table as Active, so i can interact with her.
So, what I need to know now is how can I know the column name or number when I double click in one cell of the table.
Can anyone help me with this?
    Thank you in advance,
    Carlos

Views don't have primary keys though their underlying tables might. You'd need to pick apart the view to determine where it's columns are coming from.
You can select the text of the view in question from user_views.
