How to develop signed applet

Hello Friends
I am working on chat application using applet.
But simple applet throw exception for different
database server than application server.
So how can solve this problem ?Best by not letting your applet access the database, and letting the application server do that instead.
Is Signed Applet a solution ?Yes.

Developing an "signed applet"

Hello!!
I'm developing an applet that in the end should be an signed applet.
But now as I'm in the developing process how do I test my applet and the functions like writing to a file, print etc. during the development process.
It must be an easier way than signing the applet over and over again??
So what I wonder is what development considerations should you do under the development process for an applet development project. To test things like writing to a file etc. without having to sign the applet all the time???

Just write a simple batch file.
This can make a jar from your class files, sign it and place it directly in your web directory. One click and you can test it over and over again! ;)

Signed Applet - Using same alias while development

Hi,
I am working on Embedded Java Signed Applet. My applet using the TCP/IP thus required to load each time to my Lantronix XPort.
The problem is, every time I change something in the applet, I need to run the following commands again and finally load to Lantronix XPort.
And every time, I required to change the alias name i.e. signapplet17 in the following commands.
Is there any easy way while developing the signed applet
e.g. we can use the same alias name each time i.e. signapplet1 ( I reached to signapplet17)
Or we can avoid the following commands while developing.

: Generate key pairs
keytool -genkey -alias signapplet17 -keystore mykeystore -keypass mykeypass -storepass mystorepass
: Sign the JAR file

I have bought a memership for the iOS Developer program.
I have created an in-house app.
Now I want to publish it to all employees without registering the devices.
So..
I go to their website and try to sign up for the enterprise program, image shown below:

Then I am taken to the image above, there I need to select a program, but I already have a program, the iOS developer program! And the checkbutton of that program, is disabled. If I try to click continue at this page, without sleecting a program, a javascript-box shows "You have to select a program before continuging"...
Do I need to unsubscribe my iOS developer program, to then register it again? Lol!
PS: no clue where I should post this, looked over the forums and could not see anything related to singing up, registering for a program...

How to get my applet signed

I have an applet which has the functionality to print images.when i am working with appletviewer on local machine it works. when i tried to print through browser i am getting access denied error...i came to know that my applet has to get signed so that it prints data to printer. Pls tel me how to achieve it...
And one more thing is i want to run my applet in a JSP so that i can access the file from different machine.
For this i tried using jsp:plugins..but it is also giving error...
Can u suggest me at this moment. how to get my applet signed...and how to resolve the plugin error...

How do I change applet permissions just for development?

I'm trying to write an applet which will have to make an http connection to an external server. I presume the only way to forego the security restriction preventing me making that connection is to sign the applet. However, it won't be very practical to repackage and resign the applet every time I wish to update it during development. Is there any way to get around this beside running it as an application in the meantime? I'm hoping to avoid this since I will need to use JavaScript at some stage to interact with the applet and update some forms inside the page.

AFAIK, u can turn off the security option in IE. But it is not feasible , if you are on the internet and u get mysterious applets spooking ur pc. go for signed applet.
You can use ANT which can be found from jakarta.apache.org, makes compiling,signing and deploying a breeze.

You said your applet does some writing.....if it's writing to the user's disk and the user grants you the permission, you will be able to do it..but if writing to the server is what you wanted to do, then you will need help from a server-side software like a servelet, ASP or cgi.

I think we can sign our applets with Javasigner.exe but this certificate is not being

But I could not find SDK-Java any where.

This applet will have some permissions.

The tool you need for signing cab files for the MS JVM is signtool.exe. I beleive that the .NET version of this tool can be used, as the signing process was not Java specific. You do need certificates in a different format than for jarsigner or the netscape signing tool. Verisign will happily sell you two different certificates, but there is probably a way to convert between formats using openssl or similar.
You'll also need to package your files in a cab instead of a jar. cabarc.exe is what we use here. Again, it does not seem to be Java specific, so you can probably still find it despite Microsoft no longer making their Java tools available.

Did you include the comm api jar file in the archive tag of your applet tag?
something along the lines of:
archive="myapplet.jar,commapi.jar"
and make sure it is deployed in the same directory as your myapplet.jar.
