How to disable temporary shortcut?

Is there a simple way I can disable cmd+Space (Spotlight) when using Eclipse ? So I can assign this shortcuts to other function in Eclipse ?
Thanks in advance.
M.Rocco.

Quickest way I know of -
Click the flag (input) menu in the main menubar; select "Open Keyboard..." from that. That will open the Keyboard prefs pane directly.
Switch that to Keyboard Shortcuts. Select Spotlight in the left pane, uncheck the two Spotlight items in the list. Done.
If you wish, you can assign a different set of keyboard shortcuts to the Spotlight show functions in that same pane. To do that, click the item whose shorcut you want to change to select it, then click the displayed shortcut itself. The shortcut will be highlighted by a standard text edit box; press all the keys for the new shortcut, including modifier keys. Note - be careful to not duplicate an exisiting shortcut for something else. You may be able to do that, but the entry will be flagged with a yellow alert triangle as a warning.

  • How to disable keyboard shortcut for Type-And-Transfer

    Hi,
I'm trying to create a macro in Excel that I want to use the ctrl+shft+h keyboard shortcut. However, Lenovo's Type-and-Transfer tool has hijacked that shortcut so everytime I try to use the shortcut within Excel it launches the Type-and-Transfer tool. I've looked everywhere and cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to disable this keyboard shortcut from launching the Type-and-Transfer tool. Anybody have any idea?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
here is what I would check in:
    Registry:
    - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IBM
    - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\LENOVO
    - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM
    - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lenovo
<sorry as I don't havea system with this shortcut type I cannot find the exact same key combination>
My second thought is going more in the direction of an application, that is called Keyboard Customizer
Try this one, if that will fit your request.
Let me know any update, that you can give on this situation.
    Cheers

  • Using PhotoShop CS4, How to disable 'Universal Shortcut Keys'?

    Hello all.
I discovered in the latest OS, I am not able to customize my Action Shortcut Keys inside Adobe Photoshop CS4 because the "Universal Shortcut Keys" were "in the way"...; I used to able to do this with CS3 and Tiger.
    Let me illustrate:
    - In the new OS and the new keyboards: F1 is the Brightness Adjustment (Dimmer), and F4 is Dashboard (Launch)
    - In the older OS and CS3, I was able to create within, Action Shortcut Keys so that F1 I can create a Layer Mask and F4 I can delete a layer
    - In the new environment, whenever I press the F keys, the 'Universal Shortcuts' take priority.
*How do I disable these Universal Shortcuts so that I can create customize shortcut keys?*
    Thanks and cheers

    Hi
Thanks for the reply! Yeap this is what I am looking for, but unfortunately, or rather, I wish I can still have control over the volume keys somehow, because we work in an open environment, and sometimes we use headphones, sometimes we unplug to let our supervisor see and hear the work (by the way I am in the motion graphics business) So we constantly have to control the volume of the speakers.
Well, I'll just have to put the Sound Control on the Menu Bar
    Thanks and cheers

  • How to disable keyboard shortcut "Control Shift Down"

    Hi,
I'm mildly surprised that I couldn't find the answer to this little problem I have.
I'm running a PC version of Excel through VMWare under Mac OS X 10.7, and it works perfectly fine except that the keyboard shortcut for selecting continguous cells in a column - Control-Shift-Down - produces a weird "slow-mo" version of F10, which is showing all windows in the current application.
First of all, I hardly see this "feature" to be of any practical use as you can accomplish the same (without the slow-mo effect) by hitting F10 by default.
Secondly, this prevents me from doing something actually useful in Excel which is selecting continguous cells in a column.
Can someone please give a tip to disable this useless shortcut? I've looked everywhere in Keyboard settings in Preferences without success.
Can't believe no one else has the same issue.
    TIA
    -Wk

Thanks a lot for your post. I tried your suggestion and indeed got the Excel short-cut back. It wasn't obvious as "Mission Control" and "Application Windows" are mapped to F9 and F10 (rather than the ctrl-shift-down" combo).
It's ok since I don't really have any use for shortcut launching "Mission Control" or "Application windows".

  • How to disable "Help" shortcut?

It keeps messing with my workflow as I use the backspace a lot and the help key (Mac) is really easy to press. Keeps opening  my browser which is not a good idea when you're working huge images and you're on a schedule.

    Yea, the only shortcut I have for "Help" is "CMD+ / " and "SHIFT+CMD+ / "

  • How to disable right-click and keyboard shortcuts in adobe reader?

    Hello All,
We are currently working on an issue. We want to display a pdf to users but not allow them to save it. Though we are able to hide the menubar and toolbars, the Shortcuts F8, F9 and Ctrl+Shift+S is the undoing of all. The user can still use these shortcuts to enable toolbar and menubar. Can anyone suggest how to disable the right-click and keyboard shortcuts in adobe reader?
    Thanks in Advance

Impossible, and illogical. PDF files are not streamed or RAM-cached so if someone is viewing a file they must have already saved it.

  • How can I disable mouse shortcuts (mission control, etc) in games?

I just installed the new Deus Ex: Human Revolution from the App Store and I'd like to use the miltiple mouse buttons my  Logitech mouse has in my game. I can set up the controls to use various buttons in the game, but I also have the same mouse buttons set up in the System Preferences to be used for mouse shortcuts. The problem is, when I try to use the game, the "All Applications" or the "Show Desktop" shortcuts kick in instead of the games setup controls.
How can I disable the Mouse Shortcuts for the system while I'm in the game?

Forgive me... I should have said:
How do I permenantly disable the shortcuts only while in the game, without having to redo my System Preferences every time I start or stop my game?

    Hi,
Unfortunately the keyboard shortcuts are only editable in LV 8.0.
For a list of keyboard shortcuts in LV 7.x look at the following link:
    http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/D6B3873AFCF2CB7886256D2B006F4071?OpenDocument&node=13210...
In LV 8.0 you can edit the shortcuts in Tools->Options in the category Menu Shortcuts.
    I hope it helps.

  • How to disable the media shortcuts on the aluminium keyboard (wireless)

I love my wireless aluminium apple keyboard. And I love the media shortcuts (prev, play/pause, next).
    ...when using ITUNES!
But I hate that iPhoto acts up when trying to skip/pause the iTunes playback, while browsing my photos.
Is there a way to turn of/disable the shortcuts for iPhoto only?

This turns up regularly and I'm afraid no one has found a way so far.

  • How do you disable the shortcut key in Mail that deletes all mail in the trash folder

Is there a way to disable the shortcut key in Mail in Mountain Lion that deletes all mail in the Trash folder in all accounts: <shift><command><delete> ?
I did it once by mistake and it deleted all my trash - it is very difficult to restore when there are thousands of messages in various emaiil accounts.
    Thanks

While you can't (so far as I know) remove it - you can assign a different (& less likely to be used accidentally) one via System Preferences - Keyboard - Shortcuts.
Go there, create a new one (or 2) for Mail only, and give it the exact name(s) if the menu item(s) in question, capitalisation & ... included.
Below is on 10.6, but the idea's the same

  • How can we disable keyboard shortcuts on webpages?

I am using the add-on firemacs, which allows us to edit text with emacs key-bindings.
The problem is: some key-bindings (set by firemacs) are overwritten at several webpages (e.g. Evernote and StackExchange).
For example, Ctrl-b moves normally the text cursor to the previous character in a textarea. But in the textarea at any site of StackExchange, Ctrl-b creates `**strong text**`.
Is it possible to disable keyboard shortcuts without disabling shortcuts for firemacs?
The trivial solution is to disable JavaScript. But I want to know a possibility of other solutions.

StackExchange links to a bunch of other sites, so I looked at the superuser.com site. The specific script that creates the interactive features of the editor is http://cdn.sstatic.net/Js/wmd.en.js. It's minified so I can't figure out the call needed to remove the keypress event listener. (Actually, I'm not sure I could figure it out even with the full source, as I don't use jQuery.) Maybe it's a question for StackOverflow?

  • How to disable shortcut offer ???

    Hi,
Is there a way to disable the shortcut creation offer from within the application or JNLP file ???
    Thanks,

This is a superb tip. I was just about to ask the same question as you did when I saw your post and reply. Works great!
Where is this documented? Is this feature unsupported or just plain hard to find in the documentation?

  • Can't use down key because it opens automator. Does any one know how to disable this short cut?

Everytime I press down on down key it opens automator. It doesn't let me delete the app. I don't know what to do, it is very frustating to fill in a chart when I can't use the down key. Does any one know how to disable this short cut?

Are you talking about the Down Arrow key? To my knowledge there is no way to use that key as a shortcut for anything. But look in the Keyboard section of System Preferences and the Keyboard shortcut tab.

  • Ctrl+shift+U - Unicode input, how to disable?

Anyone knows how to disable ctrl+shift+u unicode input?
Whenever I press ctrl+shift+u, I get an underlined "u" and can enter some unicode number. However, I don't need it, and because of this, for example in qt creator the predefined "ctrl+shift+u" keyboard shortcut doesn't work.
I have no idea where this mapping comes from (obviously not qt, since ctrl+shift+u is mapped to an important shortcut), but maybe gnome or the xserver?
    Thanks already

I just updated from Ubuntu 13.10 to Ubuntu 14.04 and I found that I have exactly this same problem, which is being caused by ibus (my up to date Arch system doesn't seem to have the problem).  You can see if ibus is running on your system via:
    $ ps aux | grep -i ibus

I'm running XFCE and there is now a "Language Support" icon in the "Settings" panel (select "Settings Manager" on the main menu.)  The Language Support app contains a "Keyboard input method system" selection on Language tab.  I changed it from 'IBus' to 'None' and now Ctrl+Shift+u works again.  (This is a quick and dirty solution that works for me because I'm only using English and never have to type special characters.)

  • How to disable CTRL+ALT+S on Win8

I have an HP notebook (Pavilion 17 or something) with Windows 8 64-bit.
I mainly use it (and primarily bought it) to play video games.
The shortcut CTRL+ALT+S (which opens system information) interferes with playing video games as I use those keys when doing so and far too often at the same time.
How do I disable the CTRL+ALT+S shortcut?
I mean besides a clean install of Windows without any HP programs, obviously.

    Hello @jdk21,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I have read your post on how you are looking to disable the CTRL + ALT + S combination on your notebook computer, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To disable this combination, I recommend performing a clean boot on your computer. This can be done by following the steps in this document on How to perform a clean boot in Windows. This should help boot your system with a minimal set of drivers and software, enabling your system to keep the settings changed with the keyboard combination.
If the issue continues, I recommend following the steps below by proceeding to this file location:
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\HP Help and Support
    Right click HP Support Information
    Click properties
Click the box next to shortcut key
Hit backspace so the field says 'none'
    Apply
    Done!
(Note, If you can't access the folder above you need to show hidden & system files. In a file explorer window click the view tab at the top, then click options on the right, select 'change folder and search options' if prompted. go to the view tab in the popup. check show hidden files, folders, drives. uncheck hide protected operating system files. apply)
