How to disable u201Csticky sessionu201D for the particular web application?

Hi All,
Is there a possibility to disable so called u201Csticky sessionu201D for the particular web application? We have deployed a WAR file with the Axis 1.4 based web service into SAP NW 7.1. The web service works fine but when the client makes SOAP request the server creates a so-called u201Cstickyu201D HTTP session with the default (30 minutes) timeout. Such u201Csessionsu201D are created on each SOAP request from the same client. The maximum number for Java Web Sessions (SAP Management Console) is 1000. After a while the clients start getting the u201C503 Service not availableu201D errors:
503 Service not available.
Error: -6
Version: 7010
Component: ICM Java
Date/Time: Tue Mar 03 14:30:12 2009
Module: http_j2ee2.c
Line: 1166
Server: XXXXXXXXXXX
Error Tag:
Detail: server overload: no more sessions available
The only way to improve the situation we found so far was to set session timeout to 1 minute. That u201Csticky sessionu201D will still be created, though.
This is a testing environment and we do not use any hardware/software loadbalancer.
Any help/advice is appreciated. (Please let me know if you need more information.)
Thanks,
Dmitry Vasilenko

The practical workaround we finally come up with for this problem was to create a servlet filter and map it to the AxisServlet. The servlet filter will invalidate the HTTP session and effectively destroy the sticky session created by the server on each SOAP request.
Here is the fragment from the web.xml
<filter>
  <filter-name>StickySessionFilter</filter-name>
  <filter-class>com.xxxxx.xxxxx.xxxx.services.StickySessionFilter</filter-class>
</filter>
<filter-mapping>
  <filter-name> StickySessionFilter </filter-name>
  <servlet-name>AxisServlet</servlet-name>
</filter-mapping>
<servlet>
  <servlet-name>AxisServlet</servlet-name>
  <servlet-class>org.apache.axis.transport.http.AxisServlet</servlet-class>
</servlet>
The doFilter() method looks like this:
public void doFilter(ServletRequest request, ServletResponse response, FilterChain chain) throws IOException, ServletException {
       try {
              chain.doFilter(request, response);
       } finally {
                     javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest httpRequest = (javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest)request;
                     javax.servlet.http.HttpSession session = httpRequest.getSession();
                     session.invalidate();

Dmitry Vasilenko

  • How to implement Help System for an exit Web application

    I want to know detail steps to use OHW create a Help System for an exit ADF web application.
    I read a lot doc about Oracle Help.

    Any body can help me to learn HOW with jdeveloper step by step.
    Thanks.

    Frank,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I checked the site that you mentioned.
    I try the sample “demo with bundle. The sample worked.
    But it needed to start separately with the application.
    I do not know how to build a help system with the existed web application developed with Jdeveloper (It has two projects: model and user-view-control. It is deployed on Oracle Application server).

  • How to post a XCelsius in the BPC Web Application Getting Started page

    Hi Experts,
    I'm new using BPC 7.5 on NetWeaver. When opening the Getting Started tab in the BPC Web Application there is a white page that I would want to fill with content. This content should be a XCelsius Dashboard linked to the Query or InfoCube on which I`m planning. Creating the XCelsius Dashboard is not the problem, but to insert it in the Getting Started panel of the BPC Web application. Has anyone an idea how to do it or how to proceed. Ideas or a little how-to would be perfect.
    Thanks very much in advanced,

    Hi.
    Try this...
    const string LIST_PAR_NAME = "lu";
    string listName = string.Empty;
    if (this.Request.Params.AllKeys.Contains(LIST_PAR_NAME))
    listName = this.Request.Params[LIST_PAR_NAME];
    else
    throw new ArgumentException("Par lu is not present.");
    SPList listExport = web.Lists[listName];
    However take a look at this

    to check how GetList method is faster than web.Lists[].

  • How to disable password expiration for the administrator?

    Hello
    is it possible to disable the password expiration for the administrator? For all other users the password should expire after 90 days but not for user administrator.
    How would this look like with LDAP integration? I assume that user administrator is not replicated to LDAP and exists only in the local UME database, thus it would work like without LDAP. Or is my assumption wrong?
    Thank you in advance for your answers.
    Best Regards
    WB

    Hello Harikiran,
    thanks for your answer.
    Yes I found the setting in VA:
    Global Configuration > server > services > UME provider >
    ume.logon.security_policy.password_expire_days
    or in Configtool:
    Global Server Configuration > services > com.sap.security.core.ume.service >
    ume.logon.security_policy.password_expire_days
    But for me it sounds that this will apply then for all users that are managed in UME, not only for the administrator. Are you sure that this is only for the administrator?
    What is with the users database table in WEB AS Java? Does somebody know the name of this table?

  • How to disable a Column for a particular row in Advanced Tables

    Hi All,
    We are using an Advanced Table for search criteria. Our requirement demands to disable a column (we are using messagechoice item in that column) for only first row. We use standard Add Another Row functionality to add the rows.For the remaining rows it (message choice) should be enabled. Can anyone help me to solve.
    Regards,
    Sundeep

    You can either use a Switcher or OADataBoundVariables for this.
    Please see the section OADataBoundVariable in the dev guide. Based on certain View Attribute value, you can set the specific column in the table as Read Only.
    Switcher can be very similar too. Decide an Attribute for the Switcher and make sure the first row (which you want to disable) has some specific value. All other rows should have some other value. Decode can help you here. Then you would need to create two cases. Under the specific to first row, have a read only item. For the other case, have an enterable item. A little read through of the Switcher chapter in the Dev guide would clarify the doubts if any.

  • Can you enable both Windows Based Authentication and Forms Based Authenication for the same web application?

    Hello Community
        In WS2012 and SharePoint 2013 Server is it possible when creating a
    web application to enable both Windows Based Authentication/Negotiate
    (Kerberos) and enable Forms Based Authentication or does the web application
    use either one or the other?
        Thank you
        Shabeaut

    Yes , you can use dual authentication on same web application. You can use same web application , at OOB login page you will have option to use windows or form login.
    Or you can extend your web application to a new web app and configure extended web application to use Form Based Authentication(Note extended web application will also show same content database , so the content will same only url will be different)

  • How to disable Transactional Iview for a particular user in portal

    Hi Experts,
    I have a scenario
    i have created a user group for all the employees and assigned all the transactional roles to it, now the issue is they wanted to disable the Transactional Iview to particular user for a certain period and enable it later on, how is it possible?
    As per my knowledge we have to assign that particular Role individually to all the user, instead of user group and make the iview invisible when required.
    Instead of this is there any other Easy Method that i can approach the issue easily?
    Thanks Inadvance
    Siva

    Hi Siva,
    You can have two types of groups: one Group with users having access to transactional iview and another devoid of this access.
    You can assign users to group with transactional role and vice versa. By the way of user groups, we will have more control over the transaction role access.

    I need the client side validation. By saying server side validation if you mean writing a triger on tables to validate then I am thinking to take that option as last resort.
    Can you please tell me what is PPR ( Is it personalization?) stands for.? In my case the Charge Account is DFF.
    Can you direct me to any documentation on how to add custom javascript to achieve my objective?.
