How to display a message for 5 sec. in a window

Hi !
Similar to the OptionPane I want to display a message window which disappears after 5 seconds.
The user dont have to klick an okay button.
The window disappears automatically after 5 sec.
Is there a standard class to do this ?

As far as I know: No. But it is quote easy to implement. Just start a Thread that waits for 5 sec. and after that calls Dialog.steVisible(true)

I am designing a simple login application.I have two input text-fields,say,email and password.

Even i tried with something like,

but still it does not work.
I am using JSF1.0 Final.
Well this problem was dam simple with JSF1.0 beta beacause of the existence of <h:output_errors>.
Is there any such facility with JSF1.0 final?

Your h:inputText does not contain required="true". I guess, it should. Otherwize, validateLength will not work.

I think you mean "I need to find a ClassCastException in my server code, but I haven't got a stack-trace, so I can't figure out where to put a printStackTrace() statement... so I need to put some debug statements in the code, but I'm not even sure where they will be displayed."

Well, I don't know about jBoss, but weblogic server sends its standard output stream back to the standard output stream of the process which started it... so you redirect stdout to a file when you start your server, and then you can tail it or whatever... and then of course you just do System.out.println statements.

I don't think you can - I usually just use some simple web application logic to check for "More..." and replace it with whatever should be displayed instead.

I have a requirement for making material description as non mandetory in change request view of mdg material screen.
I have done that using field usage in get data method of feeder classes, but still message is displaying.
This message 'Material description is mandatory is displaying with check action only, but not with save or submit after i anhance field property as not mandetory.
How to prevent error message for material description in MDG material detail screen, when user click on check action.

Hello Sukumar
In IMG activity "Configure Properties of Change Request Step", you can completely deactivate the reuse area checks (but will then loose all other checks of the backend business logic as well).
You can also set the error severity of the checks from Error to Warning (per CR type, not per check).
Or you provide a default value for the material description, e.g. by implementing the BAdI USMD_RULE_SERVICE.

In the DOC_CHECK or DOC_SAVE BADI, you have a global internal table named et_messages. The structure of this table is 'bbp_smessages_badi'. You can append your error message here by inputting the message type, ID and number. The message type is either 'E' for error or 'W' for warning and the number would depend on your message class(ID). You will be able to see the error message on top of the screen, can be a red or yellow highlight depending on your appended message. I don't think creating the error message via the MESSAGE syntax will be successful, maybe this is why you are getting a runtime error.

Hello,
We can use an exporting parameter like single character field like 'S' for success and 'E' for error instead of a message.
Another option is you can use the Tables parameter and populate Return table with error or success message. Return table of type 'BAPIRET2'.

you can use the function module 'BBP_PD_MSG_ADD'. This is the function module normally used for the displaying the error messages in SRM.
See wether you can use already available error messages , use the transaction SE91 , and the message class being BBP_PD

Do the following steps:
1.) After creating a component, under it you will see Message Pools. Double click and open it.
2).Click "Add Message" and add a new message. (Give a message key, type of message (either warning, error etc ) and message text).
3). Save the metadata.
4). Raise this message where all you want by using following code(For example, on click of a button) :
 IWDMessageManager msgnr = wdThis.wdGetAPI().getComponent().getMessageManager();
 msgnr.reportMessage(IMessage<component name>.<message>,null,true);
For example, I have a component name TestAppComp and under message pool I have message called message1, then use lik this:
 IWDMessageManager msgnr = wdThis.wdGetAPI().getComponent().getMessageManager();
 msgnr.reportMessage(IMessageTestAppComp.MESSAGE1,null,true);

I am using How to Document "How To Display All Comments for a Planning Package" to display comments for list of "cost center" against different "fiscal/year" for Key Figure "Budget Amount".
Below is how the Layout looks like where comments are posted against Cost Center- year combination.

This case is very similar to the example given in how to document but after following all the steps correctly in the document and also followings various forum links such as below , I am not able to display the comments for list of Cost Centers.

Below are the issues being faced:
1) When i save the comments , the icon for comments (indicating that some comments have been entered) is not shown against selection of Cost Center-Year although the comment is saved.Comment are also visible in BPS0.
2) On execution "Web interface could not be loaded" - is the message that is shown in the area where BPS application should show all the comments.
Highly Appreciate any help with issues mentioned above.

1) please check if you set the row/cell selection property correctly for the layout component in the web interface.
2) the error does not make sense since the comments are displayed in an iframe using a BSP application, not a web interface. Check the URL in the HTML text component.

Error messages are displayed for Select-options mostly on two conditions:
1) You needs to check wether a value is entered or not its done by:
a)
Select-options:SELECT-OPTIONS: s_fevor FOR afko-fevor Obligatory.
   In this case error message is automatically throwed by system.
b) You can do this in Selection Screen events.
Ex:
AT SELECTION-SCREEN./AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON S_FEVOR.
IF S_FEVOR-LOW IS INITIAL.
MESSAGE 'XXXXX' TYPE 'E'.
ENDIF.
2) You need to Validate the entered value:
You can do this in Selection Screen events.
Ex:

After calling the transaction, this is what I do.
a) Call the function module, MESSAGE_TEXT_BUILD and pass the following values from BDCMSGCOLL or the internal table where you collect the messages.
 i) MSGID
ii) MSGNR
iii) MSGV1
iv) MSGV2
 v) MSGV3
vi) MSGV4
There is no need to fetch data using select from table t100.
It builds the message and returns in MESSAGE_TEXT_OUTPUT which can be then displayed to user.
