How to display from IPOD to TV

Is there any way to display what I am looking at on my IPOD 4 to my TV. I have a cable that works fine for videos and music but it wont allow photos, documents or anything else to display. Is there an app I need to get or something? I was hoping the ios 5 would have fixed this but no such luck.
Thanks

It only works on the 4G iPOd if the apps supports TV out.. The app description will say if it supports TV out.  You will then need a cable like dock connector to VGA or dock connector to Digital out.
The iPad 2 and iPhone 4S are the olny iDevices the can mirror the devices screen on a TV.

  • Computer was stolen--how to transfer from iPod to new computer

My computer was stolen and I want to transfer my iPod library to my new computer. I know how to transfer from one computer to another using an iPod but is there a way to do it when I don't have the computer that has my iTunes library?

There are a number of third party utilities you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod. This is just a selection.
    YamiPod
    PodUtil
    PodPlayer
    iPodAgent
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive posted in this thread: iPod to iTunes
If your iPod was set for automatic update change it to manual update. While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box.
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.
Another way is to connect your iPod and before it starts to sync, click the little X on the right hand side of the display beside the "Do Not Disconnect" message. The display is the little window to the right of the iTunes control buttons: iPod Interface
Or you could look at the method described in this link: How to keep iTunes from automatically updating your iPod
Go with whichever method you feel most comfortable. If at any point you are asked if you want to link your iPod to a new library, click No.

  • Old hard drive damaged; how to upload from iPod to new computer

The hard drive on my old computer was damaged. I had not backed up all of my iTunes library to either a DVD or external drive. My iPod classic has about 6,300 songs. I just purchased a new computer. Is it possible to upload all of the songs on my iPod to the new iTunes library on the new computer? I assume I will get a message telling me that the computer is not authorized. I am not all that tech savvy, so I don't want to hit "sync" and lose all my non-Apple purchased music. Thanks.

Hey there again, here's another answer.
Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library. There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to the iTunes preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".
An alternative method is to connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'control+shift' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.

For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump and iPodRobot.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • How to transfer from iPod to Computer

I am currently creating a full library to complete my new iPod. However, I have found it easier to edit content directly on iPod after realizing the hours of download time. Therefore, the files that I have on my iPod do not match the files on my computer. Can anyone explain how you upload files back to your computer? Thanx

  • How to import from ipod to new os and itunes?

Had to replace my hard drive and reinstall itunes. How do i import the songs from the ipod to itunes? The music that is on the ipod was lost with the old hard drive. I hope there is some way besides updating the ipod with itunes erasing everything.

    Stanman,
These links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring playlists, ratings, playcounts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…
Don King Resurrected: Deleted files from hard drive (free user steps – music recovery only)
MacMuse: Computer Crashed (free user steps – music recovery only)
Copying music from iPod to computer (a primer on various methods and software)
Copying Songs from Your iPod to a Mac or PC (resource for 3rd party software)
    iPodRip Software
    PodUtil Software
XPlay (Software For Cross-Platform Functionality & Music Recovery)
XPlay Photo Browser (For recovering Photos)
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation.
You need at least three sets of your music:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes
-- One full set on an external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and the computer is not considered having any backup. If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer, then create and maintain two external sets.
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl).

  • Itunes library disappeared, how to sync from ipod?

I have had my 30gb ipod video for a few months now with no problems. Last night I sync up my ipod and everything was fine. This morning I open itunes and my library is completely empty, and all of my playlists are gone.
I checked my music folder and everything was still there, including the library xml file. Unfortunately I did not back up the xml file, and while trying to remedy the situation itunes overwrote the file with an empty library, so now I have lost all of that data.
I started going through the process of re-importing my music and re-creating all of my playlists when I realized that all of the play count, ratings and other information is now completely lost.
Since my ipod has all of the most current information, is there some way to sync the information from the ipod to my computer?
    Thanks

  • How to sync from ipod touch

how do i sync my ipod touch with music on it from a diferent computer without deleteing the music on it.

You need to move your music from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computers files/docs/pics/music/etc for this very reason.
What's more, you can refer this article about how to transfer or copy music from iPod to computer, which included an easy guide to work out that.
    Cheers.

  • Lost my hard drive. How to transfer from IPOD to MacBook -OR!- Match?

I lost my entire harddrive on my W7 PC.  I have most (but not all) of my music on my iPod.  I just purchased a MacBook Pro, and iPhone 5, and subscribed to iTunes Match.  QUESTION: How can I transfer all the songs on my iPod, from the ipod up into iTunes Match?  In order to get those songs on ITunes in the new MacBook.  Or is there a better way?  Perhaps it is better to try and rip the songs off the iPod into iTunes and then up to iTunes Match??
(Point of note - not all of these songs that I lost were from CD's, or from iTunes purchases.  Yes, many of them came from YouTube.  I mention it so as to save any misdirection people might offer as a solution)  Thank You!

You can use MobiKin Assistant for iOS to transfer data or files from iPod to computer directly. It is an excellent software and can sync data from iOS device to computer easily. These data including text messages, contacts, music, photos, video, tv shows, voice memos, podcasts, ringtones, books, etc. Beside, it can support almost all iOS devices, including the latest iPhone 6 plus/6, iPhone 5s/5/4s/4, iPad air/mini, iPod, etc. High compatibility make it become the one of most professional iOS tools. You can have a free try. Believe it can help you a lots.

  • How to sync from iPod to another IPod Shuffle

Can I sync playlist from an older model iPod shuffle to a new 4th generation iPod shuffle without losing the playlist on the original iPod shuffle?

If the songs on the old shuffle are in your iTunes music library, you'll need to sync the same songs to the new shuffle from your iTunes library.  You can't sync from one iPod to another iPod.
If the songs on the old shuffle are not in your current iTunes library, you first need to off-load the song files from the old shuffle, add them to your iTunes library, then sync those songs to the new shuffle.
You can't transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.

  • I downloaded 2 cds onto my ipod nano through itunes.  Recently my itunes account changed and now it doesn't recognize the songs from the cds.  How to transfer from ipod back to itunes?  I don't have the cds anymore.

I downloaded 2 cds onto my ipod nano through itunes.  Recently my itunes account changed for some unknown reason and now it doesn't recognize the songs from the cds.  The songs are still on my ipod.  I am affraid to sync now because the songs may be deleated, and I don't have the cds anymore.  How can I transfer the songs from the cds on my ipod back to itunes so that I don't lose them?

What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not your "account."  The "account" you have for iTunes is your Apple ID, which you use when purchasing or downloading from the iTunes Store.  If these songs came from music CDs that you imported into iTunes, those songs are not related to your Apple ID.
Recently my itunes account changed for some unknown reason and now it doesn't recognize the songs from the cds
How are they not "recognized"?  Are the songs still listed in your iTunes music library, but grayed out?  They no longer appear in your iTunes library at all?
If you search your computer (not in iTunes) for the song files, using one of the song names, can you find the song files?

  • Hard Drive Crash - How to Copy from iPOD to new computer

My hard drive crashed and is dead, with over 3000 files of songs in my iPOD library. Can I use my iPOD, which still has the library, to copy those files to a new hard drive recently installed? How? If I just synch with the new version, will I lose anything from the iPOD? (Novice here).
    Thanks

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    SharePod Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.
