How to do a search engine for a samll company's website?

I am developing a website for a small to mid-size company. In the main page, there is going to have a search form. Anyone can trype in sth, server will search all the information in the server, then show any related information.
What is the best way to do it?
I am thinking useing:
1. javaApplet(java) + MS access
2. servlet + MS Access
are these methods ok? Any code or example for reference?

This is actually a suggestion; but, when I tried the suggestion page, it appeared that nothing was happening when I hit the "Submit" button. (Yes, JavaScript was enabled.) Here is what I wrote:

At this stage, I don't know of any workarounds (or available plugins) for Safari for Windows 4.0.4 that allow you to put a different search engine option in the search field.
The workaround I've been using is to pin a Bing window into my Top Sites.
You can send an enhancement request to Apple about it. Although it doesn't look to be set up for it, if you bring up your Menu Bar and go "Help > Report bugs to Apple", you can use that bug report form to ask for enhancements. I was skeptical about that to begin with, but apparently they check that for feature enhancement requests, according to the following document. (It's mentioned right down the very bottom.)

How to add a search engine manually to Firefox?
For example, what should I do add a custom search engine? It is not available via add-ons. When I go to the search page, Firefox doesn't detect it and it doesn't prompt me or allow me to add it as a search provider. I am looking for options similar to that in Chromium browser.
let's say for instance, if I want to add redhat bugzilla to my search providers, I can go to search settings and just add https://bugzilla.redhat.com/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=%s

You can also add any search engine not already listed in Glims by using the method described here:

Am using Firefox 5.0.1, any new tabs open with a search engine for imvu and when I go to about:config there is no entry for browser.newtab.url that I can modify

I am using Firefox 5.0.1.4205 with Windows 7 Home Premium Service pack1. My new tabs in Firefox open with a search engine for imvu rather than google as I would prefer. I can't find an answer to my problem so far because when I try the recommended use of about:config and finding browser.newtab.url; it is not listed. Is this version of firefox to old to have that, or is it just missing? What can I do to get my new tabs to open with a Google search engine. This is on my 80 year old father's computer so he is not likely to upgrade browsers as I would on my home computer. Thank you for any help with this.

The new tab page (about:newtab) wasn't introduced until a later version of Firefox (iirc, ''Firefox 10'') , which is why that pref can't be found.

I just started learning to use a Screen Personas, and I want to know how to add a search help for a field.
I found a property in the help document named "IsLookupSupported". Is it the key? But I saw it was gray in the field I created, and its value is "false". I could not change it.

I found the reason. The function Z_WEBRFC_READ_DATA_SH had a string concatenation error.

The correct code is like:

Ok u may not require a coding
But u req configuration
U should first make a search option set

Then u need 2 duplicate a KM Command by the name Search From here
and customize it to include the Search Option that u have created

I am not sure if I understood the question,but if you meant how to attach a search help to parameter for which a default search help is not available,you can do that by using addition "Matchcode Object"
Parameter: a type i matchcode object 'Search Help Name'
Search Help name should be in single quotes.

Third-party search engines for indexing BI data

Has anyone had experience using third-party search engines for indexing data in BI7? We are looking into a product by QuePlix that uses a Google search appliance to index data in BI as well as other OLAP tools, and we'd be interested in hearing anyone else who is using QuePlix or any other search tool.
SAP is working on its own TREX-based search tool, but it looks like it's still a ways off.
Our goal is near-instant response for search queries - for example, if a user enters a cost center into the search engine, it would bring back financials, headcount, etc. for that cost center.

The BI Accelerator has been renamed to BW Accelerator (BWA)...
BWA does index the data - the data is indexed and stored in a proprietary file system on a high speed SAN. This is done because the BWA does not have a database of its own and is designed as an appliance.
The index file is loaded onto main memory while querying and then TREX searched the indices and the data is returned by the BWA to the OLAP processor.
The BWA main memory is a FIFO system where the index files are loaded into.
I have seen TREX being used for metadata but sparingly ... the only place I have seen TREX being used for data is in the BWA. will read through the links on netweaver search technology and see if I can find anything more. thanks for the links...

How to Implement the Search page for Workflow Notifications?

I want to implement the new Search page for Workflow Notifications. Search page containing Company, Paygroup, Source, Initiator, Supplier Name, From date & To date fields. These fields(Poplist & Calendar) are getting the values from different tables and these fields are not in WF_NOTIFICATIONS table only Initiator & dates are there. After selecting the values in all fields or one field based upon these values I want to display the all Workflow Notifications ( Those are satisfy the search criteria only not all ) in Advance Worklist Table RN in the Notifications page. Is it possible to create the Search page based upon the above scenario if Yes Let me know how to implement this search page for Workflow. Page was designed but how to get the sortlisted Notifications and how to pass these values to next page?

I crete the Search page having 5 poplists and select the values from dropdown list and click GO button it serch the records and displays that records in ResultsTable in same page.
My case, Search page is running fine if I select the values and click GO button page is refreshed without errors but I am unable to displays the records in ResultsTable.

Support validity question about installing and configuring SP13 on same machine as FAST to use both as search engines for SP2010

I have a SharePoint 2010 farm which is using its own servers.
This farm has a FAST Search for SharePoint server which is a standalone on a dedicated server.
This farm is my testing staging environment and not a Production environment, eventhough its almost an exact copy of the Production farm.
I would like to replace the FAST server with SharePoint 2013 as a search engine for my SharePoint 2010 farm.
Because i have a standalone deployment of FAST on a dedicated server and i dont have any more servers to add to this farm,
I would like to install SharePoint 2013 on same server as FAST while FAST is still active, connect it to the 2010 farm and do some tests before i will remove the FAST content and query SSA's.
I would like to know if installing a SP2013 on same machine as FAST is supported by Microsoft as long as the FAST is not connected to the SP2013? (performance is not an issue)
What about All in one machines like development servers, is it supported by Microsoft to install FAST on same machine as SP2010 farm? (again, performance is not an issue)

This installation will be for testing purposes only, if there are any issues with installing SharePoint2013 on a FAST search machine, i would like to know what kind of problems i may run into.
I'd also like to clear out that this FAST and SharePoint2013 are not comunicating with eachother but with a SharePoint2010 farm that is configured on different servers.
I would really appreciate direct answers to these questions.

Bought a Windows version by mistake and had it refunded, the Adobe help dude said you had to add something to the basket during checkout but can't find the way into that either. Is it just me or is the system completely rubbish?...
