How to eliminate echo in voice recording?

I have a mic plugged into my Macbook.  When I record voice (with Quicktime or any other audio app), I always get an echo and feedback.  I do have the output volume muted.  Any ideas how I can trouble shoot this?

Every piece of software may be different, but in general you have to make sure the monitoring is turned to a minimium.

  • How can you create a voice recording and save it as an mp3?

I want to create a voice recording and save it as an mp3.  How can I do that on the MAC?  Right now I can only think of recording the voice in iMovie, but it does not have a choice to save as an mp3.

Rather that iMovie, you may want to check our Audacity.
It's a free, open-source audio editor and recorder.
You can easily save a recording as an MP3.

  • How can i use a voice recording as ringtone?

Cant figure iut how to do it or find instructions. any ideas if its possible?
    Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

Nope. Nothing there at all. The voice recorder has also gone, so I'm sorry about the bother with this.
In the end I downloaded a Google voice recorder and am using that.
    This works fine.
However, I don't find the idea of the walkman containing files too logical and also the 'blind' voice info function switched on and left me unable to use the phone for 2 hours till I worked out how to swicth it off.
But anyway, regarding the voice ringtone things, thanks fro trying to help! Much appreciated.

  • How to break up a voice recording into navigable "chapters".

I am trying to make a voice recording (a Podcast on GarageBand) that I can then break up into "chapters". I want to be able to use the track button on a CD player or an iPod to navigate these chapters.
I have already made a Podcast recording in GB, but am unable to figure out how to break it up into "chapters" (with names that will appear on an iPod or CD player). Three questions:
    1) Is a podcast in GB the best way to accomplish this? and
    2) Should I break it up into "chapters" in GB or in iTunes? and
    3) How do I do it?
    Help me please!

Sure! GarageBand is great for recording and combining tracks, but SoundStudio, for me at least, is more intuitive when I'm manipulating a single track. For instance, SoundStudio lets you mark various points in your audio track, then split and save them as individual files via a single menu command. It's like having a single audio track in GarageBand expanded to fill the whole application window, and the suite of tools is aimed at manipulating that single track, not mixing multiple tracks together.
But the end result will be exactly the same — it's just a little easier for me to get there with SoundStudio. Unfortunately, SoundStudio is quite expensive (it came free on my Mac, but the latest version costs $80), so if you only need to split one audio file GarageBand will work just fine.

  • How do I make a voice record on the iMac?

I want to add a voice recording to a Keynote slide show.  How do I proceed?

You can make an audio recording in the QuickTime X player - File>New Audio Recording and if necessary use the down-pointing triangle on the right to select the microphone or other source.
However as to adding audio to a Keynote presentation the best place to ask would be in the Keynote Forum.

  • How do I master a voice recording in Audition CS5?

Hi, I want to record myself playing the guitar and singing over the top, however although I am more than capable on the guitar I can not sing for toffee. So my plan is as follows:
Using Audition CS5 I will open a new multi-track session, I will then record the guitar part (without the singing), and then will record the vocals over the top of that.
Once I have finished recording the vocals I will import the vocal file into melodyne and auto-tune it (if it's good enough for Britney spears it's good enough for me), once I have tuned my voice I will then re-inport the vocal file back into Audition CS5 ready for mastering.
This is where I need help.
What can Audition do to help me make the vocals sound as good and as proffessional as possible using different effects and so on.
If you have ever heard of  a singer called "Jose Gonzalez" then that is the sort of vocal I am trying to achieve.
Thanks very much for your time
    Regards

Steve's right - we have to be able to hear what you've done before we tell you what you need to do next.  A couple of things, though.  After you've melodyne'd the vocal (I don't think you have to do the export/import thing with the vocal, cuz Melodyne's a plugin, right?  Audition isn't listed as one of the DAWs you can use it with, but I wouldn't worry - Audition's NEVER listed with other DAWs, but it works just like the others most times.) you won't be mastering what you've got, you'll be MIXING what you've got.  What Audition can do with those two or three tracks you record will be along the lines of:
    * noise reduction on each track
    * panning
    * EQ'ing
    * compression, if needed
    * adding space (delay/reverb) if needed
There's more, but those would be the first things you'd be looking at in most cases.

  • Voice recording on a 2011 MacBook Pro?

How do I make a voice recording on a 2011 MacBook Pro?

I've upgraded the same model to Mavericks without any issues or problems. If you are worried, then make a backup before you upgrade. Simple enough precaution. If you find you cannot access your external data drives, then erase the internal drive and restore your backup. You can make a cloned backup using the Restore option in Disk Utility which will also clone the Recovery HD that you would need should you decide to restore the backup.

I just bought an iPod Classic, and in the shop, the demo model had a "Voice Recorder" option on the menu, and I read somewhere that my ipod could be used as a voice recorder, and I was just wondering how to do this? Do I need a microphone??

Yes, you'll need to purchase a microphone for it.  Just do a simple Google search for iPod Classic microphone, and should get a number of good hits.  Here is one such product that would work.

  • How can I convert and/or import .3ga Android phone Voice Recorder files to iTunes playable format?

My new Android smart phone (Samsung Galaxy S Blaze) has a pre-installed "Voice Recorder" which creates .3ga files of whatever I record with that app. But I can't find anyway to play or utilize them on my PC. I'm new to iTunes (for Windows Vista), and I'm hoping it can play these files somehow but when I drag them to the iTunes window the red circle with a line through it shows up and the file doesn't get transferred.  I've also tried importing via iTunes File > Add file to library > click on file on my PC, but then after a second the "Add to Library" window disappears and the Voice file is nowhere to be found in iTunes. Any ideas are welcome. I'm pretty low tech....
    Thanks!

iDealshare VideoGo, the professional 3GA to MP3 Converter, can convert 3GA files whatever recorded from Android, Samsung Galaxy S1, S2, S3, S4, Nokia to MP3 format. On the voicemail screen, click Greeting at the top left and record a new one. Your carrier will also have a special number you can call from the phone (usually includes a hash or star) to get to and change voicemail options.

  • How do I upload a digital voice recording to iTunes 10?

I have a new Olympus VN8100 digital voice recorder that I used the other day to record a meeting.  The instructions tell you how to hook it up to a Mac and how to dismount it, but not what to do in between to upload the recording to a computer.
I did manage to burn the recording to a CD-R, but I can't find  an "Import CD" option in the File menu, so I haven't been able to store it on my Mac.  When I select "Add to Library...", neither the burned CD-R nor the VN8100 icon shows up in the list of Desktop items.
I can't even figure out how to play back the CD I burned to make sure it burned successfully--iTunes Help doesn't offer anything useful and the tutorials don't cover that.
I assumed I could put a spoken recording on my computer with the iTunes application, but maybe that's changed with iTunes 10?  Can anyone walk me through this?  Thanks so much for your help!

Thanks for the software suggestion - http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Audio/Audio-Recorder.shtml - it looks good. Why do you use it instead of Garage Band?
Had it before GB existed; I use other audio software for other tasks, but this one is probably the most easy to use app (of any kind) I've ever used. Click, speak, click, click. Done, with file sitting on my desktop.

  • I have an iphone 4, how do I take stored voice messages and record them to a stick?

I have an iphone 4, how do I take stored voice messages and record them to a stick?  A family member passed away and I want to keep their voice.

    Hey there!
Sadly, there is no way to do this.
I'm sad to hear you've lost a familymember.
Try this: Move in a quiet-room. Play his/her voice over speaker of your iphone and record it with free recording-softwarefor windows or mac.
Hope this will help you keeping the memory.
