How to enforce Internet explorer to use existing JRE to open ESR and ID

In my pi server,
we installed jdk.
C:\>java -version
java version "1.4.2_19-rev"
Java(TM) Platform, Standard Edition for Business (build 1.4.2_19-rev-b07)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.4.2_19-rev-b07, mixed mode)
We can also see below folders, as we installed the jdk.
C:\>
C:\JDK\bin
C:\JDK\jre
C:\JDK\jre\bin
C:\JDK\jre\lib
etc.
When i open in IE, the page,
http://piserver:51000/dir/start/index.jsp
it opens properly.
When i click on link for ESR, or ID,
it opens a popup for file download, asking, do you want to download the file repository.jnlp.
as  per my knowledge, the IE dint get the jre to use for opening the ESR.
my question is,
1.  as jre is already installed on my pi server, why does the IE doesn't use it to open the java component ESR.
as of now, i dont have the permission to install the jre again on the pi server.
2.  is it possible to configure the IE to use the jre which is already existing in the server (C:\JDK\jre\bin) to use to open the ESR.
thanks,
Madhu.

Hi Madhu,
Pop-up which asks to download jar is a normal behaviour of Mozilla firefox.
Also,as Abhishek mentioned, you need to have appropriate jdk installed on your local system as well, from where you are opening IR and ID.
You can use your desired java version to open IR and ID by enabling this java version in Preferences section of your Java Webstart.
Let us know if it works for you.
Thanks.

Shweta

  • How to use multiple JREs (1.5.0_20 and 1.6.0_07) with Internet Explorer 8?

    Hi!
Question about the problem mentioned in subject.
I have configured that JNLP opens with 1.5 version, both versions are enabled in Java Control Panel Runtime Settings but when I try to start a desktop java console says:
    Java Web Start 1.5.0_22
Using JRE version 1.6.0_07 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
And the opening of the desktop creates an exception:
Java Web Start - Invalid Argument Error
TooManyArgumentsException[ Too many arguments supplied: {C:\WINDOWS\Temporary, Internet, Files\Content.IE5\....
I'm trying to open my desktop with 1.5 version and other programs with 1.6 version. What is it that I still need to do? I'm kind of confused with this. Some of my collagues have succeeded with this and some doesn't, with the same configuration.
So the question is, how to use multiple JREs with IE8 so that one application uses 1.5 version and others 1.6 version?

Once you can come up with an actual question, I might look at this more closely.

  • How to stop Internet Explorer upgrade to IE 10 & IE 11

    Dear All,
How to stop Internet Explorer upgrade to IE 10 & IE 11
In our environment we have around 300 workstations.I need to stop all of the machine users from manually downloading and installing IE.Also how do it stop the IE from updating using Group policy on windows server 2008 & windows server 2003.
All users machine are on windows 7.
Basically i want all users to get restricted to IE9.
    Thanks ..
    Mike...
    Regards, Mike ||Persistent Work Triumphs||

    Hi Mike,
    >>Basically i want all users to get restricted to IE9.
Internet Explorer 10 will be available as an “Important” update through the Automatic Update feature of Windows Update. Users of Windows 7 Service Pack 1, who have opted to
download and install updates automatically through Windows Update (recommended setting), will automatically be upgraded to Internet Explorer 10.
However, we can prevent users from upgrading to IE 10 via Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or System Center 2012 Configuration Manager.
Regarding how to prevent users from upgrading to IE10 or IE11, the following two articles can be referred to for more information.

    Hi,
Internet Explorer 8 is not compatible to install in Windows 8/8.1 PC.
As Rob suggested, we could use Internet Explorer 10 (In Windows 8) or Internet Explorer 11 (In Windows 8.1) developer tools to emulate IE8,
Using the F12 developer tools; Or build a Virtual Machine.
Besides, here is the download page:

  • How to get Internet Explorer to ask for Open/Save

For most binary file types, Internet Explorer asks whether you want to open or save the file, and gives you a further choice of skipping that prompt in the future. Nothing I do gives me access to this prompt for PDFs and Adobe Reader. On a computer out of the box, with a fresh installed of Adobe Reader set not to open PDFs in a browser window, a click on a link to a PDF will open automatically in Adobe Reader. It will not prompt me whether I want to open or save the file.
I can edit this choice in the registry for any other type of file. For instance, if I set MP3s to open automatically in Windows Media Player when clicked, and then I change my mind, I can delete a certain key in the registry and I'll be prompted once again. This is not true for PDFs associated with Adobe Reader.
So my question is, how can I get Internet Explorer to prompt me whether I want to open or save the PDF?
I'm using Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 8.

From Microsoft ou will see IE is not available for the Mac:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/answers?tId=11114787-fc3a-4179-a0ca-d f6b407caec4
You can try the web page in Safari (which is already installed), or
try downloading and installing firefox (download from here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/) or
    try google chrome (https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/?brand=CHMA&utm_campaign=en&utm_so urce=en-ha-na-us-bk&utm_medium=ha)

  • How to close Internet Explorer and other programs running on Windows?

In order for Flash Player to be installed or updated, any programs that use Flash Player must be closed.  This includes Internet Explorer or other browsers, instant messengers, Skype, etc.
These programs may be running in the background, not as visible windows, but need to be closed anyway.
To close such programs use the Windows Task Manager.  To start Task Manager, take any of the following actions:
Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, and then click Task Manager.
    Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.
Right-click an empty area of the taskbar, and then click Task Manager.
Once the Task Manager is running, select the Processes tab.  On older Windows version you may need to click on the Process Name or Image Name header to sort the process names.
Now right-click on every process that the Flash Player installer needs to close (e.g. iexplore.exe), then select End Process.
It would be desirable if the Flash Player installer could perform that action by itself; I have therefore created an enhancement request.  If you were affected by this problem, please head over to the Bugbase and vote for this request: https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3548136

I am a new Mac user and have just encountered a third part software that does not appear to be supported through Safari; thus I am receiving the following message when I attemt to log onto the system:
"Our system currently supports the following browser versions: Internet Explorer 9, Internet Explorer 8, and Firefox 4 through Firefox 7. We have detected that you are using an unsupported browser. While you still may be able to use the system, depending on the browser, it is possible that you may run into technical issues that we cannot support. Please consider installing one of the browsers listed above to improve your experience with our system."
Bypassing this message only yields a Server Runtime error.
Why don't you just download Firefox, 4 through 7 are supported, or if you insist on using Internet Explorer, use Windows.

  • Internet Explorer Websites using Shockwave

Alright, I downloaded Adobe Shockwave 11 recently, its been working fine. Certain websites, such as sites containing flash games or animations, require adobe shockwave to be installed in order to run. When I visit those websites, I would get a certain error message as Adobe Shockwave loads, stating "internet explorer has stopped working, windows is checking for a solution to the problem..." The message would then display "Internet Explorer has stopped working" in bold blue print, and beneath it stating "A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." If there is any fix for this or reasons that this problem might occur, please make a post.

Hi, rroberts. Welcome to the Discussions.
Here is some general advice on troubleshooting shared library errors.
A shared library error, in general terms, tends to imply something is missing, corrupted, or incompatible with an application or operating system framework. A bit more on frameworks and shared libraries (heavy technical reading) can be found in the "Frameworks" section of the "Software Development Overview" chapter of the Apple Developer Connection document Mac OS X Technology Overview, and the Framework Programming Guide.
Sometimes this implies an application has been corrupted and must be reinstalled. It can also happen when running incompatible versions of two applications with interdependent shared libraries. Other causes may include disk, permission, or cache corruption (usually disk directory corruption) or a corrupted operating system. Cache corruption could be an issue here, depending on how the affected applications use caching.
    • As a start, you may want to give your disk the "once over" using my Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption FAQ.
    • If the problem persists, you may need to uninstall then reinstall the affected application. See my "Uninstalling applications" FAQ for important advice on uninstalling software.
    • The shared library in question may also be corrupted. If this shared library is part of the Mac OS X operating system, one must reinstall the operating system using the Archive and Install process. See my "General advice on performing an Archive and Install" FAQ.
    Good luck!

  • Open Internet Explorer URL using MII Transaction

    Hello All,
I wanted to know if there is a way to open internet explorer URL using MII transaction. I know how to do it using irpt but was wondering if there is a way of doing it using MII transaction action blocks. I was planning to provide access to provide path for iexplorer.exe and then open url like "http://www.google.com" on it.
I appreciate your help with it.
    Thanks,
    Kiran

    Hi Kiran,
You want to load a page into a transaction? for this you can use the action block called HTML_Loader and link www.google.com with HTML_Loader_0.SourceUrl.

  • How to download internet explorer

Does anyone know how to download internet explorer ?

Probably because there's a ton of website that require IE to run properly.
That said, unfortunately all you can do is run Windows in a VM environment like Parallels or VMWare Fusion to get your IE fix on.  Sorry.

  • How to Force Internet Explorer specific Java Runtime Environment?

Problem: UConn uses a tool called Blackboard. Blackboard requires Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_07-b03)
    but I develop so NETBeans IDE needs/wants JDK6 ( likes JDK 6 Update 16 )
Tried managing add-ons in IE, Tried Firefox too.
What I want is to have IE forced to the JDK5 runtime and let my other applications (NetBeans, Oracle, OracleSQLDeveloper, Firefox and MYSQL use the JDK6). I know NEtBeans will allow to specify which JDK but it seems that IE still sees both and screws up.
Things I tried but didnt work: managing add-ons and I saw items like this Force Internet Explorer to use a specific Java Runtime Environment install?
    from: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/71254/force-internet-explorer-to-use-a-specific-java-runtime-environment-install
First, disable the currently installed version of Java. To do this, go to Control Panel > Java > Advanced > Default Java for Browsers and uncheck Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Next, enable the version of Java you want to use instead. To do this, go to (for example) C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_15\bin (where jre1.5.0_15 is the version of Java you want to use), and run javacpl.exe. Go to Advanced > Default Java for Browsers and check Microsoft Internet Explorer.
To get your old version of Java back you need to reverse these steps.
Note that in older versions of Java, Default Java for Browsers is called <APPLET> Tag Support (but the effect is the same).
The good thing about this method is that it doesn't affect other browsers, and doesn't affect the default system JRE.
    Any ideas?

    Simple then - bad idea.
If your minimal target is 1.5 then you develop in 1.5. If you insist on using 1.6 for functional reasons then you will need to maintain two development environments on your box 1.5 and 1.6. You explicitly build support for 1.6 and detection for that into the code and test it using 1.6. And test using 1.5 as well.
Note you must test both 1.5 and 1.6. Full functional tests.
Obviously limiting yourself to 1.5 would require less effort (cost.)
