How to export hidden field to Excel (CSV)

Hi,
I would like to export my report to Excel. There are some hidden fields (lat modification date of the record, primary key column etc.) that are not displayed on the screen but the user would like to have it in the export output.
Can I persuade Apex to export not only displayed items to the CSV file? Currently Apex seems to ignore all report columns that are not displayed.
Tamas

Hi Shijesh,
I have an interactive report column that I do not want to be part of my csv export.
Is there a way I can do that similar to your reply below .
I tried this :
apex_application.g_excel_format = FALSE thinking that it would show up on the report but not be included in the export but it did not work.
Sorry to bump it in this post but I started a new post but haven't found any reply.
Also are these documented somewhere for reference ?
Thanks,
Dippy

    Hi,
    You need to create a transformation file and a conversion file if required. First upload the excel (csv) file into BPC using Manage Data and Upload File option.
    Create the transformation file (refer to the sap help  on how to define a transformation file). You need to specify the mapping correctly and include all your application dimensions and map them to appropriate columns of the flat file.
    Before running the import package, do validate the data in the flat file you uploaded into BPC with the transformation file you created.

  • How to open hidden field in PO

    Hi,
    How to open hidden field info record as edit mode and delete. initially we used info records now we are not using info records, some of the po's already captured info record numbers now when we try to close this PO its hitting error message info record doent exist. when i see in table i can find record number but actually this record was deleted now how to put back hidden field to edit mode and delete this info record.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    If the PO was created against that Info record you cannot just open up the field and delete the Info record reference. There is integration between the two records and if you look at the previous POs on a non-deleted info record you will see the link that way too.
    So you cannot break the link like this.
    Surely you didn't physically delete the info records? They should have been flagged as deleted and if that was not enough then they should have been archived (in which case you shouldn't be getting this mnessage).
    Have you tried changing the message from an error to a warning (or nothing)? I doubt if this will work for the same reasons as above but it would be worth trying first.

  • How to pass hidden field values on a click of a table row

    hi all,
    href = "bookAndNonBook.do"
    I am very new to struts. I have created a table using displaytable tag which displays results in a tabular format. In addtion, i have a hidden field (prodType), the table rows are getting highlighted when i get my mouse on a particular row.
    Following is the code from the results.jsp file
    <body
    onload="addRowHandlers('row', 'rowMouseOver')"
    bgcolor="#FFFFFF" text="#000000" leftmargin="100" topmargin="50"
    marginwidth="" marginheight="" rightmargin="30">
    <html:form action="/bookAndNonBook" method="post">
    <display:table name="sessionScope.productSearchList" id="row"
    sort="list" export="true" defaultsort="1" defaultorder="ascending"
    pagesize="15" decorator="org.displaytag.decorator.TotalTableDecorator"
    class="dataTable">
    <display:column property="prodType" title="ProdType" class="prodType"
    headerClass="prodType" media="html" />
    <display:column title="Title" property="titleName" sortable="true"
    class="title" headerClass="title" />
    </display:table>
    </html:form>
    </BODY>
    I am calling a funtion addRowHandlers which passes the table id (which is row) and the rowMouseover for highlighting the rows on mouse over.
    the code for function addRowHandlers is
    function addRowHandlers(tableId, rowClassName) {
    var previousClass = null;
    var table = document.getElementById(tableId);
    var rows = table.getElementsByTagName("tr");
    for (i = 1; i < rows.length; i++) {
    rows.onmouseover = function () {
    previousClass = this.className;
    this.className = this.className + " " + rowClassName ;
    this.style.cursor="hand";
    rows.onmouseout = function () {
    this.className = previousClass;
    this.style.cursor='';
    rows.onclick = function (){
    var cell = this.getElementsByTagName("td")[0];
    var ProdType = cell.innerHTML;
    alert("value of prodType = " + ProdType);
    when i run the above code and click on a particular row it returns me the value in the hidden field i.e. prodType for that particular row
    Now where i am having problem is i want that on the basis of prodType my jsp file should call different actions for different prodType as returned....somwhat a function like this
    function submitProduct(prodType) {
    if(prodType == "BK")
    resultsForm.action = "/bookProduct.do";
    else if(prodType == "NB")
    resultsForm.action = "/nonbookProduct.do";
    but i am unable to figure out that how do i this..
    Any help will be really appreciated
    Thanks
    Sam

    can you please suggest some good struts forums where i can post my question
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
    According to your post, a problem occurred when you exported the HTML table to Excel(.CSV).
    The following code for your reference:
    function toCSV() {
    var data = document.getElementById('reportstable');
    var csvData = [];
    var tmpArr = [];
    var tmpStr = '';
    for (var i = 0; i < data.rows[0].cells.length; i++)
    tmpArr.push((data.rows[0].cells[i].innerText || data.rows[0].cells[i].textContent));
    csvData.push(tmpArr.join('\t'));
    for (var i = 1; i < data.rows.length; i++)
    tmpArr = [];
    for (var j = 0; j < data.rows[0].cells.length; j++)
    tmpArr.push(data.rows[i].cells[j].innerHTML);
    csvData.push(tmpArr.join('\t'));
    var output = csvData.join('\n');
    SaveContents(output.replace(/&lt;/g, '<').replace(/&gt;/g, '>'));

  • Export large field to Excel

    I'm attempting to export large field defined as 4000 characters(but not always this size) to Excel. I'm not using the builtin export. I'm using custom csv export. The problem I have is trying to keep the formatting(cr return, line feeds) when data is in excel.

    You may want to look at using XML Publisher to create an export to Excel. Perhaps someone else has a good way to do it natively in APEX. In any case you can do some fancy stuff with XML Publisher.

    I've encountered a problem while developing a forum using JSF. See this code:
    <h:form id="commmentForm" formName="commentForm" >
         <h:input_hidden id="pageId" valueRef="CommentBean.pageId" value="${article.id}"/>
         <h:input_text id="userName" valueRef="CommentBean.userName"/>
         <h:input_text id="userEmail" valueRef="CommentBean.userEmail"/>
         <h:input_text id="userURL" valueRef="CommentBean.userURL"/>
         <h:input_textarea id="content" valueRef="CommentBean.content"/>
         <h:command_button id="submit" label="Leave A Comment" commandName="submit" actionRef="CommentBean.createAction" />
    </h:form>
    I was trying to specify a hidden field that represents the unique ID number of the current article using <h:input_hidden> tag above. But RI complains that runtime expression is not permitted in 'value' attribute. So I set the attribute 'value' to arbitrary number such as '2', but it seems that CommentBean.pageId is still null.
    So the question is:
    1. Why can't I use EL in JSF tags attributes?
    2. How can I resolve my problem mentioned above?
    Thanks very much in advance!

    To solve the problem, you have to use two hiddenfields, say:
    <h:input_hidden id="pageId"valueRef="CommentBean.pageId" />
    <h:input_hidden id="articleId" valueRef="article.id"/>
    I want to set the value of CommentBean.pageId to
    ${article.id} (article is not a managed bean) and to
    let CommentBean.createAction insert a database row
    whose page_id column is ${article.id}, so I think the
    tags you suggested won't work for me.Why can't you interrogate your ComponentBean for its pageId property during your invoke() method? By the time your invoke() method is called, the value from the hidden field will have been pushed to the model, so this should be no problem. You could do Application.getValueBinding("ComponentBean.pageId").getValue() to do so.

  • How to export data to an excel by preserving styles

    Hi All,
    I am trying to export data to an excel using ColdFusion. Below is my code.
    <cfheader name="content-disposition" value="attachment; filename=dashboard.xls">
    <cfcontent type="application/msexcel">
    <table width="200" border="1">
      <tr>
        <td width="40"> </td>
        <td width="160">
          <table width="160" border="1">
          <tr>
            <td width="20" bgcolor="red"> </td><td width="20" bgcolor="black"> </td><td width="20" bgcolor="red"> </td><td width="20" bgcolor="black"> </td>
            <td width="20" bgcolor="red"> </td><td width="20" bgcolor="black"> </td><td width="20" bgcolor="red"> </td><td width="20" bgcolor="black"> </td>
          </tr>
          </table>
        </td>
      </tr>
      <tr>
        <td width="40"> </td>
       <td width="160">
          <table width="160" border="1">
          <tr>
            <td width="20" bgcolor="red"> </td><td width="20" bgcolor="black"> </td><td width="20" bgcolor="red"> </td><td width="20" bgcolor="black"> </td>
            <td width="20" bgcolor="red"> </td><td width="20" bgcolor="black"> </td><td width="20" bgcolor="red"> </td><td width="20" bgcolor="black"> </td>
          </tr>
          </table>
        </td>
      </tr>
    </table>
    When I try to execute above code by commenting <cfheader><cfcontent> then the output is perfect. styles are preserved. And when I uncomment <cfheader><cfcontent> and execute code, then an excel file will get open. But all the styles are lost. So how to preserve all styles(table width etc.) in excel.
    Can anybody please assist me on this. Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Manoz.

    I copied your code and did the test. Result: no problem.
    However, I used the following table data in my test. Did you use any data in yours? To fully test an HTML table, you have to put in some data.
    <!--- <cfheader name="content-disposition" value="attachment; filename=dashboard.xls">
    <cfcontent type="application/vnd.ms-excel"> --->
    <table width="200" border="1">
      <tr>
        <td width="40">xxx</td>
        <td width="160">
          <table width="160" border="1">
          <tr>
            <td width="20" bgcolor="red">AAA</td><td width="20" bgcolor="black">ccc</td><td width="20" bgcolor="red">eee</td><td width="20" bgcolor="black">ggg</td>
            <td width="20" bgcolor="red">&n b s p;</td><td width="20" bgcolor="black">ddd</td><td width="20" bgcolor="red">fff</td><td width="20" bgcolor="black">hhh</td>
          </tr>
          </table>
        </td>
      </tr>
      <tr>
        <td width="40">yyy</td>
       <td width="160">
          <table width="160" border="1">
          <tr>
            <td width="20" bgcolor="red">111</td><td width="20" bgcolor="black">333</td><td width="20" bgcolor="red">555</td><td width="20" bgcolor="black">&n b s p;</td>
            <td width="20" bgcolor="red">222</td><td width="20" bgcolor="black">444</td><td width="20" bgcolor="red">666</td><td width="20" bgcolor="black">888</td>
          </tr>
          </table>
        </td>
      </tr>
    </table>
    Two other things to note. First, I have used &n b s p; for empty table-data. Secondly, though the MIME type you have used for excel might work, the correct  value is application/vnd.ms-excel.
