How to export table contents in xml file format through SQL queries
hi,
i need to export the table data in to xml file format. i got it through the GUI what they given.
i'm using Oracle 10g XE.
but i need to send the table name from Java programs. so, how to call the export commands from programming languages through. is there any sql commands to export the table contents in xml format.
and one more problem is i created each transaction in two tables. for example if we have a transaction 'sales' , that will be saved in db as
sales1 table and sales2 table. here i maintained and ID field in sales1 as PK. and id as FK in sales2.
i get the combined data with this query,
select * from sales1 s1, sales2 s2 where s1.id=s2.id order by s1.id;
it given all the records, but i'm getting two ID fields (one from each table). how to avoid this. here i dont know how many fields will be there in each table. that will be known at runtime only.
the static information is sales1 have one ID field with PK and sales2 will have one ID filed with FK.
i need ur valuable suggestions.
regards
pavan.
You can use DBMS_XMLGEN.getXML('your Query') for generating data in tables to XML format and you can use DBMS_XMLGEN.SETROWSETTAG to change the parent element name other wise it will give rowset as well as DBMS_XMLGEN.SETROWTAG for row name.
Check this otherwise XMLELEMENT and XMLFOREST function are also there to convert data in XML format.

How to read the contents of XML file from my java code
All,
I created an rtf report for one of my EBS reports. Now I want to email this report to several people. Using Tim's blog I implemented the email part. I am sending emails to myself based on the USERID logic.
However I want to email to different people other then me. My email addresses are in the XML file.
From the java program which sends the email, how can I read the fields from XML file. If any one has done this, Please point me to the right examples.
Please let me know if there are any exmaples/BLOG's which explain how to do this(basically read the contents of XML file in the Java program).
Thank You,
PadmaIke,
Do you have a sample. I am searched so much in this forum for samples. I looked on SAX Parser. I did not find any samples.
Please help me.
Thank you for your posting.

How to export XI messages to XML files?
Is there any way to download/export a message from XI?. I am thinking on the lines click and "Save As" for example, a message that just arrived from R/3 via RFC but before it gets further processing. I know that you can examine the message in XI but in this case is more like for exploring it using other OS tools.
Thanks
AugustoAugusto,
We cannot save the entire message from start to end. But what you can do is open the message and select any node whatever you want on the left hand side and then click on XML Message tab and click on Save Entire Message Version. This prompts you a place to save.
Is this what you are looking for?

Hi,
We want to export data from Oracle database tables to an XML

about it ?
Can we extract data only from an Oracle8 database, or can we
extract data from Oracle7.3 databases too ?
Any help in this regard would be appreciated.
Thanks

Start by downloading the XML SQL Utility and make sure you have
the approriate JDBC 1.1 drivers installed for your database.
There are samples which will get you going included in the

How-to use Excel for the XML file input?
Hello all,
Following our discussion with Gerhard Steinhuber on the very nice tutorial from Horst Schaude , "How to upload mass data via XML File Input" , I am starting this new discussion.
In the comments section of this previous cited tutorial, Rufat Gadirov explains how to use a generated XML from Eclipse instead of your XSD file as your source in Excel.
However, in spite of all the instructions, I am still facing the same issue in Excel when I try to save my file as XML : "The XML maps in this workbook are not exportable".
What I try to do is to create one or more Sales Orders with multiple Items in it from a XML File Input, using excel to enter data.
The part with the File input is working (if I directly upload my file to the webDAV, it creates a sales order instance with multiple items).
The only missing part is the Excel data input that I cannot make work. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Here is my XML file that I try to use as a source in Excel before inputing data from Excel:

Jacques-Antoine OllierHello Jacques-Antoine,
I suppose that as you have tried to construct a map from the schema, you have taken the elements from the List level down. In this case I also can't export the map.
But if you take the elements from the level MySalesOrderUploaded down, you'll get the exportable map (screenshots)

It might have but this is not a problem, if you programmatically break it up in pieces.
Have a look at https://forums.oracle.com/message/9748097#9748097
The method demonstrates how to dump/write a CSV in binary format to disk.
I used it to dump/write files way bigger than 10++ MB in size... -
Error Exporting Table Content into Excel
Hi there,
I have code that reads a TableView and exports its content into excel file. The code is running right now in an iView that is stored in a protal role. The code has been developed using PDK. I'm running portal 6.0 SP16.
Here is what the code does:
1. Reads the content of the table and stores it in an HSSFSheet inside an HSSFWorkbooK object.
2. Gets HttpServletResponse from the portal request and updates its content type and headers
HttpServletResponse response = ((IPortalComponentRequest)getRequest()).getServletResponse(true);
response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel");
response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachement;filename="EmployeeEntitlementRpt.xls"");
3. Writes the excel file to the response output stream.
ServletOutputStream fileOut = null;
try{
fileOut = response.getOutputStream();
wb.write(fileOut);
fileOut.close();
} catch(IOException ie){
throw new PortalRuntimeException("IOException when getting output steam from response, writing to the outputstream or closing it.", ie);
The code gives me the following error message, if invoked from the iview inside the detailed navigation.
<b>"Internet Explorer cannot download ...ge!2fcom.sap.portal.innerpage from portald.global.ad
Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."</b>
However, when I navigate to the same iView and open it in a new window, the code functions as expected.
This is the URL to the iView when opened inside the detailed navigation: https://companyserver.global.ad/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtpos/pcd!253aportal!255fcontent!252fevery!255fuser!252fgeneral!252fdefaultDesktop!252fframeworkPages!252fframeworkpage!252fcom!252esap!252eportal!252einnerpage!7b!3b2!7d.com!252esap!252eportal!252edynamicNavigationArea!7bHideMode!7d_com!252esap!252eportal!252etargetsiView!7bHideMode!7d_com!252esap!252eportal!252etargetsiView!255f!7bHideMode!7d-/prttarget/com!252enexeninc!252etots!252eiv_entitlement_report.content/prteventname/HtmlbEvent/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fevery_user!2fgeneral!2fdefaultDesktop!2fframeworkPages!2fframeworkpage!2fcom.sap.portal.innerpage

Why Acrobat x professional is changing the text formatting specifically the font family and the font size of the text in my pdf on exporting it to Microsoft word file format ?How should i stop Acrobat x professional from doing that so that i get an exactly same word file on exporting it from its pdf counterpart?
I was testing the preciseness & efficiency of Adobe acrobat x professional's doc conversion capabilities. As i have to take a document editing project in future which is going to need lot of pdf to word and vice versa conversions . What I did was I created a test word document converted into a pdf using a pdf maker in my word 2007 , Acrobat did convert the document from word to pdf keeping everything in the source file intact , However when i tried the other way round and attempted to convert the same pdf to word 2007 file format I lost my formatting ?So the font that I used to create the pdf are the ones taken from word 2007 which i believe is using the fonts that are installed in my computer. Any suggestions on how to preserve the formatting of the document after converting it from pdf to word file format?

How can we get tag of XML file using SAX
Hi ,
I'm parsing one SAX parser , I'have almost done this parsing. i have faced problem for one case, i'e how can we get tag from XML file using SAX parser?
XML file is
<DFProperties>
<AccessType>
<Get/>
</AccessType> <Description>
gdhhd
</Description>
<DFFormat>
<chr/>
</DFFormat>
<Scope>
<Permanent/>
</Scope>
<DFTitle>gsgd</DFTitle>
<DFType>
<MIME>text/plain</MIME>
</DFType>
</DFProperties>
I want out like GET and Permanent... means this one tag which is present inside of another tag.
Handler class like
public void startElement(String namespaceURI, String localName,
String qName, Attributes atts) throws SAXException {
if(_ACCESSTYPE.equals(localName)){
accessTypeElement=ACCESSTYPE;
public void characters(char[] ch, int start, int length)
throws SAXException {
if (_ACCESSTYPE.equals(_accessTypeElement)) {
String strValue = new String(ch, start, length);
System.out.println("Accestype-----------------------------> " + strValue);
//System.out.println(" " + strValue);
public void endElement(String namespaceURI, String localName, String qName)
throws SAXException {
if (_ACCESSTYPE.equals(localName)) {
_accessTypeElement = "";
