How to expose plugin methods to JavaScript ?

Hi, let's assume I develop a plugin in C++ that performs some tasks with textual tokens within the Acrobat viewer. Can I access my plugin methods from JavaScript in order to launch these tasks from outside the Acrobat frame ?
Thanks
Frederic

It's your plugin - you can do whatever you want and expose them however you wish.

  • Exposing plugin to javascript

    API = CS4
    OS = Mac OS X 10.5
    I'm new to Indesign plugin development and was having trouble exposing plugin code to the scripting API. So I went back and created a very basic plugin project using DollyXs. Selected support for Indesign, InCopy and IndesignServer and scripting. Compiled (debug) and installed the plugin in debug builds of Indesign desktop and Indesign server. Wrote a simple javascript to call the app.speak() method that DollyXs creates when the scripting support option is selected.
    The app.speak() call works in the Desktop version but on the server version I get "Error String: app.speak is not a function". Looking at the servers "PluginLoadLog.txt" log file the plugin is loading without errors.
    In the root fr file I have the following PluginVersion resource;
    resource PluginVersion (kSDKDefPluginVersionResourceID)
    kTargetVersion,
    kplgPluginID,
    kSDKDefPlugInMajorVersionNumber, kSDKDefPlugInMinorVersionNumber,
    kSDKDefHostMajorVersionNumber, kSDKDefHostMinorVersionNumber,
    kplgCurrentMajorFormatNumber, kplgCurrentMinorFormatNumber,
    { kInDesignProduct, kInDesignServerProduct},
    { kWildFS },
    kplgVersion
    Note: I removed the InCopy ID manually.
    Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem may be or can suggest other things to look into?
    Thanks Mike

    For anyone interested I found the problem. The the root fr file in the "VersionedScriptElementInfo" block must have a locale ID declared for any Indesign context the plugin is will be used in.
    Using DollyXs if you choose support for Indesign desktop and Indesign server with scripting. DollyXs will only insert the the locale ID for Indesign desktop.
    Add the following after the locale for Indesign desktop to enable the plugin for Indesign server;
    kFiredrakeScriptVersion, kCoreScriptManagerBoss, kInDesignServerAllLanguagesFS, k_Wild,
    Thanks Mike

  • How to call a bean method from javascript event

    Hi,
    I could not find material on how to call a bean method from javascript, any help would be appreciated.
    Ralph

    Hi,
    Basically, I would like to call a method that I have written in the page java bean, or in the session bean, or application bean, or an external bean, from the javascript events (mouseover, on click, etc...) of a ui jsf component. I.e., I would like to take an action when a user clicks in a column in a datatable.
    Cheers,

  • How to call jpf controller method from javascript

    Can any one help me how to call pageflow controller method from JavaScript.\
    Thanks.

    Accessing a particular pageflow method from Javascript is directly not possible unless we do some real funky coding in specifying document.myForm.action = xyz...Heres what I tried and it did not work as expected: I found another workaround that I will share with you.
    1. In my jsp file when I click a button a call a JavaScript that calls the method that I want in pageflow like this: My method got invoked BUT when that method forwards the jsp, it lost the portal context. I saw my returned jsp only on the browser instead of seeing it inside the portlet on the page of a portal. I just see contents of jsp on full browser screen. I checked the url. This does make the sense. I do not see the url where I will have like test1.portal?_pageLabe=xxx&portlet details etc etc. So this bottom approach will notwork.
    document.getElementById("batchForm").action = "/portlets/com/hid/iod/Batches/holdBatch"; // here if you give like test1.portal/pagelable value like complete url...it may work...but not suggested/recommended....
    document.getElementById("batchForm").submit;
    2. I achieved my requirement using a hidden variable inside my netui:form tag in the jsp. Say for example, I have 3 buttons and all of them should call their own action methods like create, update, delete on pageflow side. But I want these to be called through javascript say for example to do some validation. (I have diff usecase though). So I created a hidden field like ACTION_NAME. I have 3 javascript functions create(), update() etc. These javascripts are called onclick() for these buttons. In thse functions first I set unique value to this hiddent field appropriately. Then submit the form. Note that all 3 buttons now go to same common action in the JPF. The code is like this.
    document.getElementById("ACTION_NAME").value = "UPDATE";
    document.getElementById("batchForm").submit.
    Inside the pageflow common method, I retriev this hidden field value and based on its value, I call one of the above 3 methods in pageflow. This works for me. There may be better solution.
    3. Another usecase that I want to share and may be help others also. Most of the time very common usecase is, when we select a item in a drop bos or netui:select, we want to invoke the pageflow action. Say we have 2 dropdown boxes with States and Cities. Anytime States select box is changed, it should go back to server and get new list of Cities for that state. (We can get both states and cities and do all string tokenizer on jsp itself. But inreality as per business needs, we do have to go to server to get dynamic values. Here is the code snippet that I use and it works for all my select boxes onChange event.
    This entire lines of code should do what we want.
    <netui:anchor action="selectArticleChanged" formSubmit="true" tagId="selectPropertyAction"/>
    <netui:select onChange="document.getElementById(lookupIdByTagId('selectPropertyAction',this )).onclick();" dataSource="pageFlow.selectedArticleId" >
    <c:forEach items="${requestScope.ALL_ARTICLE}" var="eachArticle">
    <%-- workshop:varType="com.hid.iod.forms.IoDProfileArticleRelForm" --%>
    <netui:selectOption value="${eachArticle.articleIdAsString}">${eachArticle.articleItemName}</netui:selectOption>
    </c:forEach>
    </netui:select>
    See if you can build along those above lines of code. Any other simpler approches are highly welcome.
    Thanks

    Right. If you are using delegated privs and sudo, make sure that sudo is configured to pass on the PERL5LIB and ORACLE_HOME environment variables at least.

  • How to expose methods having 'Collections' in their signature ?

    Hi folks,
    I need to expose a method as a web service which has a return type as Collection, ant task gives exception hinting that it could not find a suitable xml type for the class mentioned in the autotype task.
    I wrote a facade to the method and tried converting the COllection type to concrete user -defined data type, though the ant task was successful , but after deploying to the weblogic server , when i tried accessing the WSDL
    from the console , it gave ann error page saying" Error no:404 matching uri not found something of that kind..."
    Can some one throw some light on this/or any work around.
    I am stuck on this for the past 2 days withount any success.

    Hi Santhosh,
    What kind of collection are you using ?

  • How to access the controller method from javascript onclick event?

    Hi All,
       I am totally new to development. And I got struck in calling a controller method from javascript function.
       I have no idea about ajax and all those things. Please can anyone help me to solve this issue!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    As I know, you can use jQuery to do this, here is an example.
    Example of your Controller Method.
    [HttpPost] // can be HttpGet
    public ActionResult Test(string id)
    bool isValid = yourcheckmethod(); //.. check
    var obj = new {
    valid = isValid
    return Json(obj);
    and this would be your javascript function.
    function checkValidId(checkId)
    $.ajax({
    url: 'controllerName/Test',
    type: 'POST',
    contentType: 'application/json;',
    data: JSON.stringify({ id: checkId }),
    success: function (valid)
    if(valid) { //show that id is valid }
    else { //show that id is not valid }
    If you have further issues, I would suggest you move to MVC forum, it is appropriate and more experts will assist you.

  • How to expose sort attributes in a web service created on a AM 11g TP4

    I'm using Jdeveloper 11g TP4 to create a web service on the application module.
    When I run the web service, it is working fine. Can someone tell me how to expose the sort attributes for the user to choose?
    How do I expose the sort Order for the user to select?
    These are the steps I followed:
    1) Created a new application.
    2) Created a view object in the Model project.
    Created one bind variable.
    Created new view Criteria and used the bind variable.
    3) Created a new jspx page.
    From the Data control dragged and dropped the Named Criteria on to the page and used "ADF Query Panel with Table..."
    4) Ran the Jspx page. It works fine.
    Double Click Application Module.
    Click on tab Service Interface.
    Hit New, this will open the Wizard to Create a new Service Interface.
    Followed instructions and selected all the applicable methods to expose as web service.
    At the end of the process, wsdl, xsd, java files are created.
    I'm able to run this web service.
    The field to query the data is exposed in the Web Service.
    Is there a way to expose the sorting attributes to be selected by the user? i.e. I want to expose the fields to the user.
    Thanks,
    Jagadish.

    Why bother with TP 4? JDev 11g is already production.

  • How to initialized main method in a deployed application

    Hello,
    I am trying to deploy a simple java application to OC4J, I created a jar file as my deployment profile and then I created EAR file and finally delpoyed succesfully, but I'm wondering how can I start my main method in deployed application, note that my application requires some input arguments as well. Any ideas how can I do that ?
    Regards,
    Hussam Galal

    I might be missing the point of this post, but you can't 'start your main method' in any type of deployed application.
    You must expose your methods via some mechanism. You could call your method via a JSP, wrap in an EJB and create a client to call it remotely etc.
    What is in your JAR file? Just POJOs? If so you will have to wrap them in EJBs so they can be called, that or deploy a web application with some servlets or JSPs so they are accessible via some URL.

    Where are these methods written? What technologies/versions are you using?
    From the looks of it, I'm assuming assignRolesToUser seems to be a method in some ADFbc component (AM?)
    and RowButtonListener seems to be a managed bean method.
    You need to first read and understand how to expose ADFbc service operations (such as AM methods) in a client interface and call from your UI layer (such as bean method or similar UI action).
    Here's something: https://blogs.oracle.com/jdevotnharvest/entry/best_practice_invoking_business_services

  • How to call a method defined in AM when I select any value in LOV

    Lets say there is a LOV. The scenario is as soon as I select any value in LOV, a method needs to be called which I have written in the AM. And the output of the method is displayed in a output text box.
    I am not able to understand how to call a method when the user selects any value in LOV.
    This is wht I did. I had created the binding for the method. Changed the autosubmit property of the LOV to True, and in the properties of the output box, in the partial submit trigger property, passed the ID of the LOV. But I didnt get any place where I need to call the method. I am also not able to drop an action listener on the LOV

    Hi,
    +"its showing an error(underlined in orange)."+
    Any reason you don't share this error with us? Anyway, here is how it goes
    1. LOV, set autosubmit="true" and configure a value change listener
    2. Expose the AM method as a method binding in the PageDef file
    3. In the value change listener:
    BindingContext bctx = BindingContxt().getCurrent();
    BindingContainer bindings = bctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    OperationBinding method = (OperationBinding) bindings.get("name of method binding in PageDef");
    method.getParamsMap().put("argument name1", value1);
    method.getParamsMap().put("argument name2", value2);
    Object retVal = method.execute();
    if(!method.getErrors().isEmpty()){
      //handle errors
    else{
      //write retVal to the managed bean variable that is referenced by the outputText value property
      //PPR output text component
      ADFFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(outputTextRef);
    }Note that you may have to set clientComponent = "true" on the output text component

  • How to call a method in jsf after stop typing in test box?

    Hi all,
    In my jsf page i have a text box in which user type some text field like "abc". i want after stop the typing i want a method to be called automatically and a datatable will be populated sith some result. my problem is is how to call the method automatically so that the user does not have to click any button after typing in the text box? plz help..
    Edited by: sailajoy on Dec 23, 2008 3:36 PM

    If it is after certain characters that the user types you can ascertain that the entry is done you can use onkeyup and within the javascript count the characters an when the necessary characters are set do the action you need to do.
    There should be some way by which you can suggest that the user has stopped typing i.e. either the max length has reached or the user has hit tab or went to another field. Going on other field too you can bring the focus back to your original field from where the user had hit tab. If you are thinking of something liek google suggest then AJAX is the best way to implement it.

  • How is call web method in application?.

    Hi,
    I have created java web application(Web Service).
    I want to call the setName() method in java application(GUI).
    how is call web method in application?.
    package sv;
    import javax.jws.WebMethod;
    import javax.jws.WebParam;
    import javax.jws.WebService;
    @WebService()
    public class MyService {
    @WebMethod(operationName = "setName")
    public String setName(@WebParam(name = "name")
    String name) {
    return "my string is "+ name;
    }

    The model layer should never depend on a specific view layer - this breaks reusability.
    What you need to do is expose a service method on your AM. Then your view can call this method and pass a parameter into the model layer.
