How to extract a jar archive.

I am in Windows XP SP3,
using the command line to try and extract a jar archive, to it's present directory:
jar -xv experiment.jarThe computer just sits there for ages, apparently caught in a loop,
issuing no output.
How may I meet with more success?

  • How to extract TEXT for archived Purchase Orders ?

    Hi Friends,
    Can any one tell me how to extract TEXT for archived Purchase Orders ?
    I have used READ_TEXT but that is not fetching texts for archived PO's. Whenever I am trying to fetch data from STXH against archived PO, no value is coming and resulting SY_SUBRC <> 0.
    Any demo code will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance..
    Sivaji

    Hi,
    You can see that table STXH is linked to archiving object MM_EKKO (you can see it in tcode DB15).
    My suggest is that you must get the data. See the demo object BC_SBOOK in tcode AOBJ. You can see the report to reload data. The object is get the data in an internal table. So for report SBOOKR you can see this function module:
    *   get data records from the data container
    *   SBOOK
        CALL FUNCTION 'ARCHIVE_GET_TABLE'
          EXPORTING
            archive_handle        = lv_handle
            record_structure      = 'SBOOK'
            all_records_of_object = 'X'
          TABLES
            table                 = lt_sbook_tmp
          EXCEPTIONS
            end_of_object         = 0.         "not entries of this type
    *   check lt_sbook_tmp entries against selections. Delete not
    *   requested entries
        LOOP AT lt_sbook_tmp ASSIGNING <ls_sbook>
                             WHERE carrid IN s_carrid
                               AND connid IN s_connid
                               AND fldate IN s_fldate.
          APPEND <ls_sbook> TO lt_sbook.
        ENDLOOP.
        REFRESH lt_sbook_tmp.
    The idea is that you get the same data that you handle in READ_TEXT (because you don't have the data in database) and recovery the text.
    I hope this helps you

  • How to use database file within jar archive

    Hi. I'm quite new in Java programming, and I'm wondering if what I did makes sense or not.
    In my applet I'm using a MS Access Database file, which is contained in the same Jar Archive like the Applet class file. I tried and tried to use this Database file directly but it wouldn't work. Than I read in some other forum that it is not possible to use the database file directly within the archive. First question: Is that true?
    Than I desided to extract the DB file in the init() method of my applet to the default temporary foulder. When the program is closed I use the destroy() method to delete it again. Everything works well now. But is this the typical way this is done?
    Thanks for help!

    Hi,
    here is the code which extracts the database file out of the jar archive (the same archive in which the class file is):
    //get the user temporary folder
    File TempFolder = new File(System.getProperty("java.io.tmpdir"));
    //create (empty) db file
    efile = new File(TempFolder, "steelSections.mdb");
    // if database file is not yet extracted
    if (!efile.exists()) {
    //get an input stream for the database file
    InputStream in = new BufferedInputStream(this.getClass().getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(
    "FaST/db/steelSections.mdb"));
    //create an output stream for the db file on the file system
    OutputStream out = new BufferedOutputStream(new FileOutputStream(efile));
    //-Buffer to copy the data
    byte[] buffer = new byte[2048]; //buffer to copy the binary
    for (;;) {
    int nBytes = in.read(buffer); //read data
    if (nBytes <= 0)
    break; //no more data to read
    out.write(buffer, 0, nBytes); //write data
    out.flush(); //close out and in streams
    out.close();
    in.close();
    If you have the db file in an other jar archive file you need a referenze to the entry in the other jar archive. I'm not sure how to get this, but I'm sure you fill find a solution by searching in this forum...
    Good luck!

  • How to extract JAR file in particular directory

    Hi,
    I am extracting a JAR file(A.jar) in a Makefile
    Now the path of the Makefile is say /home/developer/
    The location of the JAR file is in /opt/tools/mk/A.jar
    I am extracting the jar file as:
    jar xvf /opt/tools/mk/A.jar
    This creates a directory named "A" under /home/developer, since the location of the Makefile is at /home/developer.
    Question) How do I unjar /opt/tools/mk/A.jar under /opt/tools/mk/ itself, irrespective of the location of the Makefile?
    thanks

    jar -?
    Usage: jar {ctxu}[vfm0Mi] [jar-file] [manifest-file] [-C dir] files ...
    Options:
        -c  create new archive
        -t  list table of contents for archive
        -x  extract named (or all) files from archive
        -u  update existing archive
        -v  generate verbose output on standard output
        -f  specify archive file name
        -m  include manifest information from specified manifest file
        -0  store only; use no ZIP compression
        -M  do not create a manifest file for the entries
        -i  generate index information for the specified jar files
        -C  change to the specified directory and include the following fileI'd say you may want to try the -C option

    Btw. Why do you need to do it. You do know that you can add jars to the classpath and read resources from them without extracting the file?

  • How to create/read/write textfiles in a jar archive?

    Hi!
    I would like to know how to create, read and write text file in a jar file?
    //Marcus

    You want to update "files" that are inside a jar archive? You can't. At least not very easily; to modify a file you need to create a new version of the jar, copy over everything else, and add the new version of that file. Look for a different design that doesn't require updating a jar.

  • How to create a JAR

    Hi
    I'm very new to Java. I have a private project to do a little admin application for bulk changes to my itunes library via their COM API. Previously I used several javascripts to do this so I don't expect a lot of work to adapt them to Java. I use eclipse and have downloaded com4j (https://com4j.dev.java.net/servlets/ProjectDocumentList) to create wrappers to the COM-objects in iTunes. the quick intro to com4j say that the wrappers are created by the tlbimp.jar. I know that JAR is a a java archive created by jdk using jar.exe but I can't get out a tlbimp.jar file how much i try. If I do something like this
    jar -cvf tlbimp.jar *
    Does that make sense? What prerequisites are important? Does jar.exe have to be in som path variable in windows? Should I be in the folder where the classes are or one level up? Anything else

Anything elseIt sounds to me like the documentation is saying that Java classes in the tlbimp.jar are used to create the wrappers - you do not need to create that jar. I bet if you look at the zip file you downloaded, you will find tlbimp.jar inside the zip file. You need to extract that jar and any other jars inside the zip file and configure Eclipse to use them.

  • How to make a jar file downloadable with IE

    hello,
    I just bought a website:
    http://www.frozenfountain.net/
    and I put a jar file on it called Logo.jar
    Using Mozilla, the jar file downloads as expected, but with Internet Explorer, it tries to download it as .zip file.
    How do I get it to download as a .jar file with IE?
    thanks

    Just post a link to the Jar. Mozilla will download
    it as a jar. Windows will download it as a zip.
    Only one link. No problem, really. ;-)There is a problem. People who arent as good with computers as you are won't know how to run the jar file after downloading with IE.
    At school, I told someone to download the file, which they did with IE. It downloaded to desktop as a zip. They extracted and were left with a bunch of .class files.
