i'm tying to extrct data from a view vbdka, with select. but i;m getting a syntax error that it anot a DB Table or DB view, pls tell me how to extract data from that view.

That is the most important part. Thank you. But you seem to be unaware of the "search" functionality.
If you can imagine that you are not the first person to ask a certain question, then you can be sure that someone else already has and you can find the answers on your own. If you still have doubts, then ask a specific question providing the details.
Based on your other questions, you are on release 4.0B. Is that still correct?

By using select stattement you can fetch from view.
Here viaufkst is view.
For it is working. please check.

As you mention in your title it's some sort of a restricted view. That's for a reason I guess.
Since I don't know the definition of your PO_LINES_V, there is no way to tell why you are not allowed to retrieve data from the view. Check the WHERE clause of this view.

i have my view tree in VDS as o=join, the value seen under this tree has to be pushed to idm.
For Ex: o= join
uid=mary
uid=sam
i need to push the attributes related to mary and sam into IDM.
As specified, i have created a directory repository to point this vds, i have given the value of starting point as o=join
in the 'Fromldap' pass i nthe destination tab i have inserted the template from source which has attribute only dn.
When i run the job, it stores only the value o=join in the table.
How to get the values under o=join tree . Please help.

Hi Rodrigo,
Firstly, list the Standard component under Component Usage of the Component which you are creating in your View.
Second, In the Custom Component, view, goto context, and try to add the node from the Standard component in to your view.
NOTE: The second step requires a Node in component controller of the Standard Component.
Finally, Now in your view, get the data from that and map the data.
NOTE: To do this, I think you need to call your Standard WDA first and then only your node contains data and it will be passed.

How to edit data from a "View Table"?

I am importing data from a "table view" where in sql it joins several tables into one view. When I passed it in using the template it doesnt have the "Edit command column" like other direct link tables. Is there anyway I could make a view table editable? Can I manually try to do it or I have to edit the individual ables? thanks

oh sorry about that.The "template" I mean in HTMLDB when I start building a new application I used "Based on existing tables" method and with single tables it generates everything fine with search fields and edit column to the left. I have a table view that combines about 4 tables together and I used the same template (Based on existing tables) and it has the search and create but it doesnt have the "edit" column on the left. Is there a way I can edit the view table's information so that the other tables that the view combines will be updated/edited?
The reason is that lets say I dont know this person's ID number but I know his name. I search for his name on table A and it returns some general data including his ID number. Instead of going to another Table B with the person's ID number and edit that table I really want to see the information just from one search (Table A)- if a global search can be implemented that would be great too. You mean Data transfer between two components..
To pass the value from one component to other component, you can use used component scenario.
For example let use assume we have two comp ..
Comp A,
Comp B.
now we need to pass the value from Comp A to Comp B.
Then declare the Comp A as used component in Comp B.
Now then you can create a node in the comp A component controller and check the interface check box there then the
node and the attribute will be present in the interface controller also .
and this interface controller context you can access in the component and map it to view there and display it.

How to select data from a view (V_5UBI_B)

The following SELECT won't compile. The compiler gives the message "'V_5UBI_B" is not defined in the ABAP Dictionary as a table, projection view or database view". I can run SE11 and enter it as the name of a view and pull it up so I'm obviously missing something.

how to fetch data from view V_TCURR.
I have to fetch 2 fieds:   kursp and   *tfact
(what does this * indicates in field name   *tfact)

The view is a maintenance view and it doesn't even have field tfact available.
Just select from the table directly
PARAMETERS: p_kursp for tcurr-kurst,
            p_fcurr for tcurr-fcurr,
            p_tcurr for tcurr-tcurr,
            p_date for tcurr-gdate.
SELECT SINGLE
       kursp
       tfact
       INTO ( lv_kursp, lv_tfact )
       FROM tcurr
       WHERE kurst eq p_kurst
       AND   fcurr eq p_fcurr
       AND   tcurr eq p_tcurr

I have used select query to retreive data from a maintainence view. But it gave me a syntactical error that XYZ is not in abap dictionary , it's a database / projection view?
So can't we get data from a view using select query?

Hi,
Maintenance view will be created for database tables only.
Just display the maintainence from SE11 and click Tables tab in the screen
Here you can find the list of tables used to created for Maintainence view.
YOu can use these tables to write SELECT.
If you give us the maintainence table, we will help you.
