How to find out which button is pressed in a form?

I want to know which button (Insert, Update, Delete) the user has pressed in a form in Portal 9.0.2.3.
My form is launched so that the ID column is fixed (and hidden). Unfortunately when user presses Insert, the value of the ID is lost. I have tried to work-around this by calling the form again after successful submission. And also I'm trying to improve actions so that the form window is closed if Update or Delete is pressed.
I have got some solutions from Metalink. My problem is that they not working all the time. E.g. solution below worked this morning, but not anymore (after I have changed the form)! Have I made errors or are solutions shown in Metalink only for Portal v3.xx?
My code in 'On successful submission of a from..' field:
DECLARE
l_action varchar2(20);
v_id number;
BEGIN
-- get the action performed
l_action := p_session.get_value_as_varchar2(
p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
p_index => 1,
p_attribute_name => '_STATUS');
-- If the action is insert then call this form again
-- If the action is update or delete then close this window
if (l_action = 'Inserted one record.') then
v_id := p_session.get_value_as_number(
p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
p_index => 1,
p_attribute_name => 'A_ID');
go(PORTAL.wwv_user_utilities.get_url('PROVIDER.LINK_TO_FORM', 'id', v_id));
else
go('http://server/closewindow.htm');
end if;
END;
When debugging the code, variable l_action is always null.
Best regards
Rainer

  • How to find out which keys are pressed while a d&d drop occurs?

    Hi,
    while an item is dropped as part of a drag and drop operation, I would like to know if the user has pressed any keys.
    I use a TransferHandler for managing the d&d and this works fine with the system dependent modifier keys for move, copy and link. But as my application needs to perform special actions if, for example, 'p' is pressed while a drop occurs, I'm stuck:
    It looks like there is neither a way to poll for pressed keys [like Keyboard.isPressed('p')] nor are there any key events fired as long as the d&d operation is active.
    I've tried a adding a key listener, adding a key binding and using the KeyboadFocusManager but nothing seems to work.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Norb

    Hi,
    the question is where the focus would be - because as you know unless there is a record in InputMap and keys are usually only received by focused component anyway. I'd recommend hooking into Swing event queue, something like that:
    Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getSystemEventQueue().push(new EventQueue() {
        protected void dispatchEvent(AWTEvent event) {
            if (event instanceof KeyEvent && dragging) {
                // do something
    });

  • How do I find out which tab was pressed?

    Our site is using tabs. We have few portlets in different tabs whose custom rendering depends on which tab the user has clicked.
    Programmatically, how do we find out which tab was pressed?
    We're using portal 9.0.4. Thanks for your help.
    Ashraf

    Thanks Sanjay for your quick reply!
    Option 2 looks like a potential solution. Not quite elegant as you indicated, but will work.
    I recall reading somewhere, before the release of 9.0.2.6, that in upcoming version 9.0.2.6/9.0.4 you should be able to programmatically determine the last tab clicked. If you could kindly confirm whether no such built-in mechanism (API, etc.) exist to find out last tab clicked in portal version 9.0.4? We're looking to implement this feature in database provider environment.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • How to find out which keywords were used to create a smart album?

    Hi,
    I actually have 2 questions;
    a) Short of scrolling down my very long list of password on the HUD - is there an elegant way to do it - How to find out which passwords were used to create an existing smart album? It's a recurring challenge for me.\ 'cause I like using smart albums, but once in a while need to check or chane the passwords.
    b) With annoying regularity when I try to get to this forum and choose Aperture, I get the following message - in pink, no less: It appears you're not allowed to view what you requested. You might contact your administrator if you think this is a mistake.
    Any clues?
    Thanks guys,

    Raphael,
    that message may occur for four reasons at least:
    Most frequently, when you are using an outdated link to a post that no longer exists, for example from an email notofication. Sometimes our community host will remove posts, that are in violation of the terms of use: see:
    Apple Support Communities Terms of Use
    Or you are using the edit button or a bookmark to an "Edit" window, after the fifteen minutes allowed for editing are up.
    Or you want to view a page in a restricted section of the ASC - soem perta are only open for members of level 6 or higher.
    Or it is one  of the unexplained problems with the forum software right now.

    I really like Kirby's suggestion with the IPTC rule Keyword is. This is very useful for smart albums global to the library.
    Frequently a different approach helps for my smart albums. Many of my smart albums are local to projects or folders.  In this case the smart HUD will only show those keywords that have been used for the images in the selection. So if I only have tagged the images with the keywords "birds" and "slideshow", the smart settings HUD will only show these two keywords and the list is very short.
    My Keywords HUD, is organized hierarchically; this way I can collapse large sections at once, and it is easier to focus on the keywords needed for a specific task.
    I use the search field in HUD a lot, to filter the set of keywords shown.

  • ADF: How to find out which query has taken what time?

    Hi,
    I have an ADF application which has many SQL queried running on each button click/page load, so how to find out which query is taking what amount of time? So that i can identify the long running queries and modify them to improve the application performance.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    As suggested by Timo,you need to start tracing on oracle.jbo package for getting the SQL queries.But I think the second option suggested by him would be better.You will have to override executeQueryForCollection method in VO Impl class .Pseudo code would be
    @Override
    Take start time
    super.executeQueryForCollection
    Take end time

    How you find out which band is on Ipad 1. like 2.4 or 5 ghz
    thanks

    You should use Discoverer Administrator for the purpose. If you try to delete an existing join Discoverer will display a confirmation dialog with four buttons. One of the buttons is labelled 'Impact...' Clicking this button will display a list of folders, conditions, summaries, and workbooks that reference this join. A workbook is included in this impact analysis if at least one worksheet in the workbook references the folder(s) included in the join.

  • How to find out which type of the driver is used in our application?

    Hi all,
    can anyone tell me how to find out which type of the driver is used in our application?
    Thanks in advance,
    Phoeniox

    Hi,
    Check out this...
    Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"); //if u r using MySql
    List drivers = Collections.list(DriverManager.getDrivers());
                   for(int i=0;i<drivers.size();i++)
                        Driver driver = (Driver)drivers.get(i);
                        String driverName = driver.getClass().getName();
                        System.out.println("Driver "+i+":::"+driverName);
    you need to load the driver and display in the same program.
    Then only you'l get the required result.

  • How to find out which server is running on which port

    hi all,
    how to find out which server is running on which port, i want to know both
    from front end and backend?
    thanks and regards
    srikanth

    The best source to get all the ports you have is the Context Files.
    All ports are defined in the Context Files through "AutoConfig Variable". You can get the list of those variables by referring to the following note under "What is the port pool? What if I want to give a specific value to a Server Port?"
    Note: 216664.1 - FAQ: Cloning Oracle Applications Release 11i
    https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=216664.1
    You can also get that list via OAM.
    Referring to the installation log file should also be helpful (Unless you have changed any of the ports after the installation).

  • How to find out which object on a JPanel was clicked...

    I have a JPanel that contains about 200 other small JPanels(only 8 are visible at any one time), and a JButton(with Visible set to false).
    When one of the small JPanels is rightclicked i want to know which one was clicked so I can add the JButton to it (set theJButton Visible on the JPanel that was rightclicked). When the JButton is clicked, it will hide the JPanel it was on and hide itself again.
    I added a MouseListener(MousePressed) to the main Jpanel but I dont know how to find out which of the smaller JPanels was clicked. I would Also need to know how (in the ActionEvent for the JButton) the JButton knows which JPanel it is on so it knows which one to delete.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------CODE
    void JPanel1_mousePressed(MouseEvent e) {
    if ((e.getModifiers() & e.BUTTON3_MASK)!=0){
    ------------------------------------------------------------------CODE
    void JButton1_actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
    ------------------------------------------------------------------CODE
    Can this be done or should I add a MousePressed Listener to each of the 200 small JPanels and create a JButton for each of them??
    Any Info Appreciated... Thanks....

    Here you get a hint, hope have added all mouseListener as well and registered....addMouseLi...etc
    // many JPanels here...
    JPanel clickedPanel;  // a reference only
    // In mouse Click..
    public void mouseClicked( MouseEvent e ){
              clickedPanel = e.getSource( );

    Can any one give me clue ,how to find out which sub query returns more than one row in the following query .This is why smaller, simpler queries are easier to work with than huge ones - when something like this goes wrong smaller queries are much eaiser to debug. Unfortunately using smaller, easier-to-work with queries is not always an option
    Ganesh is right - you will have to dissect the big query bit by bit until you find the offending subquery. If there is another way I would like to find out about it too.
    The easiest way to do this is probably to use block comments to isolate parts of the query bit by bit until you find the offending part. If you carefully examine the subqueries you might be able to figure out which one is returning multiple rows without commenting everything
    Good luck!

  • How to find out which objects are at the end of the datafiles

    My Scenario is having a tablespace of 65G but the data is 5G and that is at the end of datafile for that we are not able to resize the datafile our though is to find out what are the objects at that end of datafiles and will either alter move <owner.tablename> move or alter index <owner.index> rebuld online.
    For that how to find out which objects are at the end of the datafiles.

    You may want to copy this and add it to your toolkit
    See 'What's at the End of the File?' in this Tom Kyte article from the Sept 2004 Oracle Magazine
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/issue-archive/o54asktom-086284.html
    And this AskTom blog shows you how to generate a script containing ALTER statements toresize your datafiles to the smallest possible. You can 'pick and choose' from the ALTER statements to do what you want.
    Then of course, you can use techniques from this article by Oracle ACE, and noted author, Jonathan Lewis
