How to find physical corruption
Hi,
I sed backup validate command to find physical corruption into my database as follows.
backup validate check logical database;
After his command, I queried v$database_block_corruption.
12:04:47 SQL> select * from v$database_block_corruption;
FILE# BLOCK# BLOCKS CORRUPTION_CHANGE# CORRUPTIO
1 11477 2 228760588 LOGICAL
1 11514 1 228760329 LOGICAL
12:05:09 SQL>
How can I find if this is physical corruption of logical corruption?
I also used dbv command to check my system datafile (File# 1). And output is as foolows
D:\>dbv file=D:\ORACLE\ORADATA\OPERA\SYSTEM01.DBf

Since dbv always checks for physical corruption, but how can I make sure by using RMAn that whether this is physical corruption of only logical corruption? Thanks

Hi,
DBVerify reports both physical and logical intrablock corruptions by default. A good place to start would be going through the below MOS note for understanding them well.
Physical and Logical Block Corruptions. All you wanted to know about it. (Doc ID 840978.1)
Basically you will not be able to read data from the corrupt blocks in physical corruption while might be able to read data in logical corruption.
Also, DBVerify reports DBV-200/201 errors for logical corruption.

Edited by: Sonal on Jan 3, 2011 5:30 AMHi,
as Daan said, set the variable in Advanced tab but not on loglevel..
because, our problem is to bypass the bi-server cache.
Do this:
1. Go to Advanced tab.
2. In Prefix field(scroll down to see this field) , enter this:
SET DISABLE_CACHE_HIT = 1;
Note: Make sure that you're ended up above statement with semicolon and do not click on Set SQL option...
3. Save report, then run it..
4. After you see the query, i recommend you to take take out that prefix tag then save it again.. -
How to find out web-inf path from the physical drive?
How to find out web-inf path from the physical drive?
I have some user profiles in web-inf directory.SO I want to know the path from root directory like
d:/program files/allaire/jrun/appname/web-inf/profiles/username like that.
Presently I am able to get the path upto the application directory and from that I am concatinationg web-inf/profiles/username .
But it is giving problems when it is deployed under unix or linux.Because web-inf there it treats as WEB_INF
SO I want to get the path of web-inf directory with out hard coding.
ThankuString path = application.getRealPath("/WEB-INF/profiles/username");
Note sure why you need this, but you don't need the real path to read the file - you can get an InputStream using the relative path. See ServletContext getResource() and getResourceAsStream(). -

With my 2 yr old macbook, I cannot update my recently purchased iphone 4 when an ipdate is available. I get message: "...device isn't eligble for requested rebuild." I have worked with Apple store Genius bar staff 4 times with no sucess. Latest attempt was to erase HD, reinstall OS X, and only reinstall itunesin orde to test the update feature. In this scenario, with only itunes on the macbook, the update is successful. However, after I drag and dropped many, but not all, of my programs and files from the saved data on external HD back onto the macbook, and tried an update on a different iphone 4 (in our family plan), same problem. So I guess somewhere in what I transferred back onto the macbook is a bad file. I suppose I could go through the tedious process of transferring one program/file at a time onto the macbook, then trying the update again, but I can't do an update after each transfer because there is no new update to download, as they come out only every so often.
Is there a program that can scan the external HD to find bad/corrupted files? I have Spring cleaning and Drive Genius, neither of which seem to have the features to do such a scan (they do have disk scan, which I have run, along with Apple's Tech Tool, and all such scan operations have show no problems)
(to complicate this, this apparent bad file on this macbook likely came from my white intel based iMac. I first discovered this "updating of the iphone 4 problem" on the imac. When we bought the macbook, we bought one to one and had the Apple store do a complete transfer from the imac to the macbook in its first time set up. I purchased the iphone 4 in Sep 2010 and first tried an update in Nov 2010, which failed. I have been back to the Apple Genius bar 5 times since then with this problem. During one of those visits, Genius suggested trying to do just the update of my iphone 4 from the macbook, and that is when we discovered the macbook had the same problem. So this bad file likely was transferred to the macbook in that initial set up transfer. Furthermore, this macbook is still under AppleCare, yet that does not seem to mean anything to the Genius Bar. Tomorrow I will call applecare about this, but in the meantime, if anyone out there has a clue, I'm much obliged.I didn't know of this console feature. I see Mozy.backup doing something. I had tried Mozy on this imac a long time ago and stopped using it, and I thought I had deleted it. When I just now searched for mozy, all I get is .pdf file. Do you think this could be the problem and how would I get totally rid of mozy files? Thanks

How to find corrupted file causing problem with FCP?
I couldn't use Log and Transfer of FCP 7.0.3 for AVCHD from Canon Vixia.
By starting from different user account Log and Transfer worked which means I have a corrupted file in the directory of original user account causing the error of Log and Transfer. What will be the easiest way to find the corrupted file?
MilanIf the new user acct test allows you to work with the software, it usually means a dead pref file. The easiest way to deal with these issues is to run Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager software (free) to delete the preference files in FCP.
Open it up and look under the FCP settings in the Advanced tab. It gives you the option of selectively deleteing the various pref files associated with the app.
First back up all your FCP prefs then start deleting them one by one. Once you figure out which one is the problem, restore all the others.

Missing Ringtone When Syncing with iTunes - How do I remove Corrupt Ringtones from my iPhone?
PLEASE HELP! I've been having trouble with a ringtone I purchased a few months back. Everything was fine, until a month ago when i synced my phone with iTunes, and my ringtone suddenly disappeared. I have tried several times to sync / resync my phone again and again, and the ringtone is not there. It is in my iTunes library under Tones, and it plays when I double-click on it. But for some reason it won't sync over to my phone. I've been in contact with Apple Support over email and they have put the ringtone back on my account twice, and both times I have been able to download it back directly to my iPhone. But it's the same story all over again when I sync with iTunes... the ringtone just disappears, even when I checked "Sync Tones".
Interestingly enough, when I take a look at my iPhone in iTunes, under Tones, there are 4 instances of the ringtone, all of them have an error icon next to them, as shown in the screenshot below:
I've tried to NOT sync ringtones, but this list still appears. For some reason I cannot delete these corrupt ringtones from my phone.
In my library, the ringtones appear fine, and play fine when I double-click on them. I don't know why there are 2 of them though.
Please help! I've been at this for a month and cannot find a solution! I've re-bought the ringtone twice, but everytime I sync, it disppears all over again. I think removing the corrupt ringtones from the iPhone may solve the issue. Once I remove the corrupt files, I can start from scratch since the ones in my library play fine. But the problem is I don't know how to remove the corrupt files from my phone. Please help!

How to find the level of each child table in a relational model?
Earthlings,
I need your help and I know that, 'yes, we can change'. Change this thread to a answered question.
So: How to find the level of each child table in a relational model?
I have a relacional database (9.2), all right?!
O /* This is a child who makes N references to each of the follow N parent tables (here: three), and so on. */
/↑\ Fks
O"O O" <-- level 2 for first table (circle)
/↑\ Fks
"o"o"o" <-- level 1 for middle table (circle)
↑ Fk
"º"Tips:
- each circle represents a table;
- red tables no have foreign key
- the table in first line of tree, for example, has level 3, but when 3 becomes N? How much is N? This's the question.
I started thinking about the following:
First I have to know how to take the children:
select distinct child.table_name child
from all_cons_columns father
join all_cons_columns child
using (owner, position)
join (select child.owner,
child.constraint_name fk,
child.table_name child,
child.r_constraint_name pk,
father.table_name father
from all_constraints father, all_constraints child
where child.r_owner = father.owner
and child.r_constraint_name = father.constraint_name
and father.constraint_type in ('P', 'U')
and child.constraint_type = 'R'
and child.owner = 'OWNER') aux
using (owner)
where child.constraint_name = aux.fk
and child.table_name = aux.child
and father.constraint_name = aux.pk
and father.table_name = aux.father;Thinking...
Let's Share!
My thanks in advance,
Philips

Understood.
Nocycle not work in 9.2 and, even that would work, would not be appropriate.
With your help, I decided a much simpler way (but there is still a small problem, <font color=red>IN RED</font>):

How to find out the max mem can be allocatedTT for 32 bit Win ?
How to find out the maximum Permanent Data Size and Temporary Data Size that can be allocated for the Oracle Times Ten for 32 bit Windows OS.
Hi Chris,
Am I write in saying that this also depends on shared memory setting as well?
If that is the case, on a platform like window 2003 32-bit, one cannot have more than 4GB of shared memory. Windows Server 2003 includes support for a startup switch (entered in the boot.ini file) that allows the allocation of memory and memory address space. Regardless of the amount of physical memory that is installed on the system, the operating system uses a virtual address space of 4 GB. Out of that amount, by default, 2 GB is allocated to user-mode processes (for example, Oracle or TimesTen) and 2 GB is allocated to kernel-mode processes (for example the operating system and others). In a nutshell on systems that have more than 1 GB of RAM, this startup switch can be used to allocate more memory to applications (3 GB) and less memory to the operating system (1 GB). However, adding adding the /3GB switch to the boot.ini file will not increase the amount of physical RAM memory, the 3GB switch just tells the computer to allocate the existing memory space differently.
For a 32-bit TimesTen the limit on memory cannot be more than 2GB (PermSize+TempSize). For example on Linux 32-bit I have 1024MB and 512MB for these two parameters.
Thanks,

Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod. If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number). If any passwords are associated with your bank or any savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief. All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself. Something as small as an iPod should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries. -
How to find ThinkPad serial number if label is worn?
QuestionI'm having some trouble with my T500 ThinkPad and want to contact service, but am not sure how I can find out the machine type and serial number to provide to support when I call because the sticker on the bottom of the laptop is faded so I don't know what the S/N is. I do have one number though: [serial removed] was what I copied down from it before it became faded. I dont know what to do now, so if you have any ideas, that'd be great.
Answer
Generally the label with type and serial information is found on the bottom of laptops and tablets and on the rear of desktop systems and on the back or along the edge of displays. As noted by the question asked above, in some cases, the label may become worn. To reduce / avoid this, the type / serial label was relocated to the battery compartment on some systems with removable batteries, along with the Win 7 COA. As Win 8 does not have a COA lable, and print technologies for labels have improved, most current systems have the label on the bottom.
Some tablets may have the type and serial information label on the inside of memory door / SD card slot covers as was the case with the ThinkPad tablet type 1838/1839.
Here is a link to an article on the support site with examples of label locations for different model Lenovo systems. If the system will not power up at all, finding the physical label is the best course of action when contacting service.
If the label is missing and the system will power up, there are several ways to easily find this information as it is written into the BIOS on the system board.
1) Command Prompt
Run an elevated command prompt, Enter the command "wmic bios get serialnumber" (without the quotations).
2) BIOS
Boot to BIOS (press F1 on startup) and the model type and serial number will be listed.
3) Diagnostics - Lenovo Solution Center (LSC) or the prior Lenovo ThinkVantage toolbox.wmic bios get serialnumber does not work !!!!all your pages about how to find a serial number are disfunctuional !!! What a bed service
