How to Fix Forbidden 403 on Default Site?

I'm trying to get started with the Webserver on our new Mini Mac Server running Mountain Lion 10.8.2. After starting the webserver I tried adding a virtual host for phpmyadmin by moving the pma folder under /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites and then creating a new site in the Server App and choosing that folder for the site. I set 'phpmyadmin' for domain name, the server's internal IP for IP address and random port (8700) for port number, hoping that I could access phpmyadmin at x.x.x.x:8700.
That didn't work, I got 403 Forbidden. Then, trying to access the server's default site, I got 403 Forbidden too. I hadn't touched the default site's settings or anything. So I removed the phpmyadmin from Sites. Still 403 on Default site. Shut down and restarted the webserver, same thing.
Finally I used sudo serveradmin command web:command=restoreFactorySettings to restore factory settings and restarted the webserver but to no avail.
So any ideas of how to get the Default site working again and how to create a new virtual host that I can access locally with IP:portnumber?

Under the sites list in Server for the Web service, you can double click the default site and you will see "Who can access". Have you verified this setting is "Everyone" or a group that you are a part of?
Also, have you verified the permissions in Finder/Terminal for /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites? What are the permissions on the folders?

I found the solution to my own problem by using Internet Explorer instead of Firefox, it turn out that the site i was trying to get into is an old site using proxy servers that Firefox doesn't read properly giving me the XML parsing error:not well-formed.
Its not Firefox's fault its just letting you know that this could be a problem site if it lets you in.

There have been similar reports, yes. You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. How to fix 403 in Mac OS X built-in Apache?

I'm trying to set a local environment on my new MacBook Air 13": built-in Apache with my own DocumentRoot, PHP, and MySQL. I usually update /etc/hosts just to run my local websites with a pretty permalink: local/example. For references, I usually check:

This time I'm simply getting a 403 Forbidden error every time I hit 127.0.0.1, localhost, or local. First I saw through the terminal that both Apache and PHP are running (even though I can't view PHP pages); then I updated all permissions according to Apache permissions; now I'm just desperate. Here are the relevant Apache configs:
/etc/hosts (view file — added one line)
/etc/apache2/httpd.conf (view file — updated the DocumentRoot)
/etc/apache2/users/joao.conf (view file — created this file)
/etc/apache2/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf (view file — updated VirtualHost)
It looks like Apache is somehow denying me access to my DocumentRoot (which by the way is ~/Sites). Because ~/Sites is actually a symlink, I then tried to update DocumentRoot with the following paths (all pointing to the same directory):
~/Sites
/Users/joao/Sites
/Users/joao/Dropbox/Workflow/Sites (the original directory)
Still throwing 403. Any ideas how to fix/debug this?

I go to a particular music site sometimes via a bookmark in firefox. all of a sudden I am getting message saying forbidden 403 and that I cant access it anymore from this server. what is going on? is there a solution? what may have caused it?

Safari 8 Isn't playing HTML5 by Default - How To Fix?

An issue I'm having with the new Safari since upgrading to Yosemite. My browser is no longer playing HTML5 content by default. I have the "Click-to-Flash" extension enabled and I have HTML5 selected as my default. YouTube, however, will only play Flash. I can't seem to get it to play HTML5. Anyone know how to fix this?

I have the same issue but kinda think it's partly my fault. I have Click-to-Flash set up like yours. This morning I was attempting to download a clip but my finger slipped and I hit "Always Hide" instead of "Download Video". Poof, the pane with the movie went away and then I could no longer even access the Click-to-Flash right click shortcut menu!!! At first I didn't attribute this to Click-to-Flash and removed and reinstalled Adobe Flash. I went back over Click-to-Flash and it is set

I am not sure what's going on, because Safari only just recently started doing this and I haven't downloaded anything, nothing out of my regular computer routine. As well, I upgraded to Mavericks when it came out and I have the last version of it too. I can't imagine that Safari would close simply because I don't have or want to upgrade to Yosemite. I am holding off on the upgrade for a bit, because I heard Final Cut Pro 7 can't be run on Yosemite. While I could partition my drive, I really don't want to. Mavericks is fine for right now : )

The first thing to try is changing your DNS settings - and for that you need to open System Preferences, then the
Network section.
In Network - click on Advanced - then the DNS tab
under DNS servers - use the + button to enter two extra lines
either these, from google dns
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
or from OpenDNS
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
then click OK & then 'Apply'
You would need to do that seperately for the Cable (Ethernet) settings and Wireless (Airport)

I have several sites built in iWeb, like most people do. However I want one specific site to be the default. How do I tell iWeb which folder to pick?

Use Flash Media Server to stream the files.......set up a timer and have all three of them play at once....and have a button switch the streams depending upon which stream you want to play.....and wallah......
you can also capture the stream.time from the video playing and resume from that point on the other videos as well....havent done this theoretically so I dont know how smooth the transistion between streams will be....but it can be done....
plus u may have to use double buffering techniques to make sure it starts up right away......

Thanks for the update! Next, and this is like a last step for me, but I would quit Safari one more time, then clear all the Safari data from the phone with this info and then test it out again:

Clear information from your device
To clear your history and cookies from Safari in iOS 8, tap Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data. In iOS 7 or earlier, tap Clear History and tap Clear Cookies and Data.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.
