HOW TO FIX ITUNES!!

Okay so I've noticed you've all been having a problem opening iTunes, and instead of posting a reply to everyone I thought I'd just make a new post so here it is!
1. Uninstall iTunes - If you are unsure of how to do this apple.com/support in the search feild type in 93698
2. Uninstall Quicktime
3. Go to apple.com/download/quicktime.standalone.html
- here you will get the standalone version of quicktime 7, required for running iTunes
- Save the setup file to your desktop (do not run the installation, simple save the setup file to your desktop)
4. Go to apple.com/itunes/download
- again just save the setup file to the desktop (do not run the installation, simple save the setup file to your desktop)
*once you have these setup files saved to your desktop you'll have to do a selective startup on your computer this can only be done on windows XP, if you have windows 2000 continues with in installation*
5. Go to start, click "run"
- type in msconfig then hit enter
- this opens the system configuration untility
- in the general tab choose "selective startup"
- go to the services tab and make sure the "hide all microsoft services" option is selected, this is found below the list of services
- then deselect everything in the list except for "ipod service"
- click "ok" then restart
6. When your computer restarts you will get a message saying you have used the system configuration utility and so on, just hit ok to that, this opens the utility, just leave that running because you will need that later
7. double click on the quicktime setup, hit run and then install
8. double click on the itunes setup icon, hit run and install
9. once these are installed then you will just start the computer back up in normal startup, to do this you just go back to the system configuration utility and choose "normal startup" in the general tab, click okay and then restart
this should fix all problems with itunes not opening, and we can all love itunes again

Thanks for your attempt at providing a solution it was very intelligent. However, it didn't work for me. I had this problem upgrading to v.5 where the install would get to "product information" and then everything would disappear. The simple solution was to copy the files as they were downloading before the vanished and paste them back into the folder. It worked updating to v.5.
But... I tried the same thing with v.6 and, while it works and the files save, v.6 needs QT 7.0.3 to run and I can't upgrade to that either. Same problem happens. Files download and at the end.. vanish. I've tried the little copy/paste trick but the installation gets interrupted before I can get the active x file copied.
I hope I'm making sense here because I just bought a nano and it looks cool but is entirely useless w/o 6.
Thanks for your help again.

    Hi Tks777,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you see an "error 4013" when you try to restore your iPhone, try these troubleshooting steps:
    Error 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, and 4016
After you perform each step, try to restore your device.
    Restart your computer.
Disconnect all your USB devices from your computer and connect to another USB port.
    Use a different USB cable.
    Uninstall third-party security software.
Try restoring using an alternate computer.

  • Does anyone know how to fix 'itunes could not backup the iphone an error occurred'?

Tried absolutely everything suggested to remedy this very annoying Iphone 4s backup problem, wish Apple would just get round to fixing the problem that a lot of people seem to have for some time now, 'iTunes could not backup the iPhone because an error occurred' refuse to part with £25.00 to be told they don't know how to fix or they are not aware of the problem being so talked about on their support communities. Please please help, its been 4 months now and I have tried absolutely everything out there.

You really tried EVERYTHING in that article? I'm impressed, it's a long list.
The most common cause is a currupt current backup. Deleting the current backup should fix it if that's the problem. You need to delete it in iTunes Preferences, Devices tab. But with Windows unfortunately that isn't always enough. You need to use Windows Explorer to make sure the backup is completely gone, as the system call that deletes a folder sometimes fails to delete it completely. So open Explorer and make sure it's gone, and if it isn't delete it using Windows. The location is:
    Windows Vista and Windows 7/8:  \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press the Return key.
There have also been reports that some apps prevent the backup from completing, probably because they create files that the backup program doesn't recognize. The most common offender reported is iZip.

  • How to fix iTunes extremely laggy/slow performance?

Hi, does anybody know of a way to fix iTunes' extremely slow performance?
Just about every action in iTunes takes ages to perform. Below are two YouTube movies demonstrating the problem.
    Examples:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGSQZ50GPa0
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDFHRejnA4A
    Thanks in advance,
    Jasper.
ps. iTunes used is the newest iTunes 8.0.1.11

Definitely NOT a Windows only problem! It happens on my PowerBook G4 (I've even added more memory with no improvement - it's beginning to drive me mad!) It's specifically an iTunes 8 problem (iTunes 7 was absolutely fine for me - no problems at all). Unfortunately I can't reinstall iTunes 7 because I updated my iPhone firmware which then locked me into using iTunes 8...so essentially Apple locks you into using iTunes 8 even though it's crap and slow.

  • How To Fix iTunes Match in iOS 7

After looking through other forums, I have found this soultion which seems to work well.
    Courtesy of  metmaestro
    1) ON your iPhone/iPad: Go to Settings: iTunes & App Store.
Tap on your Apple ID, Sign Out, iTunes Match will be off.
    2) On your iPhone/iPad go to Settings: Music: Look at the iTunes Match slider, it should be off.
              If not, turn it off.
    3) On your Mac/PC in iTunes, go Store (in the file menu bar above) and tap Sign Out.
    4) Restart your iPhone/iPad by pressing the Home Button and the Sleep/Wake button (at the top) at the same time until the Apple icon appears.
Hold it for about 10-20 seconds until the Apple icon appears again.
    5) Go back to your Mac/PC in iTunes, go Store (in the file menu bar above) and Sign In, Turn On iTunes Match, and wait for it to complete.
    6) Go to settings on your iPhone, tap iTunes & App Store. Sign In with your Apple ID and password, turn on iTunes Match Slider.
              Tap ENABLE.
    7) Switch SHOW ALL Music to be ON.
    8) Next go to Settings, tap on Music, the iTunes Match slider should be on.
              If not, turn it on.
    9) Finally, go into the Music App on your iPhone/iPad. Loading iTunes Match will start processing with a Blue Line, matching your iTunes Library.
    Hope this helps!

    THANK YOU!!
While I am also unsure what this "fix" is for, it resolved a problem I have had for months with iTunes and the Music app in iOS7.  I have about 4,500 songs in my iTunes library and before buying my iPhone 5S I had a Samsung Android phone.  Google music worked PERFECTLY and would always add anything from iTunes to it's library without a second thought.
However, after I setup my iPhone and got used to iOS7 I realized the Music app was only showing about 1/3 of my music. I turned off iTunes Match, I turned it on, I reset my phone, I tried everything.  My iPod Mini and iPhone would only show a portion of my iTunes library even when a cloud icon was next to a song.
I ended up downloading and using a Google Music App for iPhone which (here we go) could see all of my music. However, it drove me crazy that I had to use this 3rd party app when Apple and iOS7 should have worked and showed me every song I owned.
Well, after weeks of searching online for a solution on a whim I used the one above just to see if it had any effect. Sure enough, IT WORKED. How it worked, I have no idea. What was wrong, I have no idea. But within a few minutes ALL of my iTunes library is now visable on my iPad and iPhone using the proper iOS7 app and I was able to delete the 3rd party one.
    Amen!

  • TS1424 how to fix itune (error-54) messenger will connect to internet

my id and password do not open up itune store get error(54) and messenger say not connected to internet but it is..
    Help!!!!!

I have the same issue, too. My New Yorker subscription is fine, always has been. But my Conde Nast Traveler subscription won't work. I can get to the screen where you enter your information (either with name and address or subscription number and zip code), but once I press Continue I get the error.
I emailed Conde Nast's customer service, and this is what they said:
    Dear Subscriber:
Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience you have
    experienced.
We have applied a fix to the app for the server error and you will need
to close and re-open your app. To do so, please double click the "home"
button to close the running app and then re-open your app.
Please let us know if you still experience any problems.
If you should need further assistance, please be sure to include all
    previous e-mail correspondence.
Thank you for your interest in Conde Nast Traveler.
    Sincerely,
    Shar
That didn't work. I tried the restarting the iPad, as someone here suggested, but that didn't work, either. Interesting that this seems to be a Conde Nast issue - my NY Times and National Geographic subscriptions are just fine, too.
I'm afraid I'm not sure what the guidance in this knowledge base article means: "Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software." How does one do that on one's iPad?
I actually wonder if it's a firewall issue. Are any of you attempting to enter this information at work, for example? I am, and my company has a firewall/proxy that gives me issues sometimes. I'm going to try to find a wifi hotspot at lunch to see if it'll work there.
