How To Force Access Via HTTPS/SSL?

Forgive me if this question reveals how little I know about SSL, but... ;-)
What is the standard, best practice way to force a web client (via browser)
to use HTTPS/SSL? Our configuration is that the clients hit an IIS server
first, which then uses the WebLogic proxy/forward plug-ins to the WebLogic
server. The URLs that our clients follow come from an email we send, which
has https:// on the front. Access seems to stay in https as long as they
follow our links, but if the client edits the URL and changes https to
http, the access is now without SSL. How can I restrict access to https
only, or otherwise make sure they never use non-SSL access?
Thanks in advance for any explanations or pointers to references, etc.
-Paul

Paul,
You can disable the http port between IIS and weblogic. Configure only the SSL
connection. That way if any request comes to weblogic as http , it will be rejected.

Thanks for the reply! What if the web server (the front end IIS server)
also serves static web pages that are allowed to be accessed without
HTTPS/SSL? It's primarily the requests forwarded through to JSP/servlets
on the WebLogic server that must use HTTPS/SSL.
Thanks,

  • How the external system will talk to ECXpert 3.5 for transfering files via HTTP SSl?

    We are using ECxpert3.5 on Solaris box. One of our Trading Partner want to communicate through HTTP-SSL and we are doing XML/EDI mapping. Could you guide us what steps we need to take care to implement this.
    How the external system will talk to ECXpert for transferring files. (We need the syntax for the URL). How ECXpert will receive XML file through HTTP-SSL protocol from External System and file submittion.

    Hi Steve,
    You can bring the GRC framework to a state equivalent to a raw install by following options:
    Option 1.) You should have a base-line backup before GRC installation. If so then apply that base-lin backup and deploy GRC components. If there is no base-lin backup, then
    Option 2.) Uninstall and re-install J2EE and then follow up with rest of the installation process. If you don't want to go through re-install process, then
    **Correction to Option 3**
    Option3.) SAP is in process of creating a SAP Note for Delete script, Instead of delivering Delete Script script via OSS message.  Will update you as soon as the Note gets released.
    Please refere to Note # 1416728 to Manage your deletion in RAR 5.3 SP10.

  • How to send XML via HTTPS in Servlet

    I am new to Java. I need to make a servlet which can send a message via HTTPS with a content type of XML to another web server when it is called. each msg is proceeded with a header in the following format:
    requestID=rid&userID=uid&password=mypd
    and a detail information in XML:
    <S_Request>
    <requestControllID>1-rf200</requestControlID>
    <zipCode>99012</zipCode>
    <orderQuantity>35</orderQuantity>
    </S_Request>
    I have basic idea of how to send an http post with parameter string by using the Redirect function but don't know how to deal with the XML detail. Any one has idea about this? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    This is what I did for one of my projects;
    String myXML = "all the xml tags and fields";
    URL url = new URL("https://www.somesite.com");
    HttpsURLConnection connection = (HttpURLConnection) url.openConnection();
    connection.setDoOutput(true);
    OutputStream outXML = connection.getOutputStream();
    outXML.write(myXML.getBytes());
    I think you can add the requestID and all to the begining of the string myXML
    Good luck

  • How to invoking secured service(HTTPS/SSL)from bpel Process

    Hi all,
    i am very new to fusion middle ware. i used jdeveloper 10.1.3.3 and soa-server 10.1.3.1.i need to pass secured wsdl(HTTPS/SSL) from one bpel Process to other. Let me know any certificates are required to do this?
    I am looking forward to getting any advice from our forum.
    thanks & Reagards,
    Hari.

    First of all make sure your jdeveloper and soa suite versions match otherwise you will get unpredictable results. I suggest that you upgrade SOA Suite to 10.1.3.4 as this is the latest version.
    That aside I'm assuming that the bpel process are on the same instance. If this is the case Yes you do need certificates as you need to implement SSL on your SOA Installation. If you use a common certificate such as verisign then the process is simpler as you don't need to worry about the public key as they are standard with Oracle as they are with your browser. If you want to sign your own certificate then you will need to add your public key.
    If your server is already SSL and it is verisign then you should have no issues you will be able to connect.
    cheers

  • How to get access via RMI from a session bean to a remote session bean?

    I have 2 J2EE applications in two different Sun Application Servers (8.0 PE). I would like to get access from one Session Bean "SB1" into Application A to Session Bean "BrickFacade" within Application B.
    My Java Code from "SB1":
             Context ic = new InitialContext();
             Object o = ic.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/BrickFacade");
             BrickFacadeHome brickFacadeHome2 = (BrickFacadeHome) PortableRemoteObject.narrow(o, BrickFacadeHome.class);
             brickFacade = brickFacadeHome2.create();
             Collection col = brickFacade.doSomething();
             ...I configured the remote App.server in sun-ejb-jar.xml. I found the syntax within documentation (http://docs.sun.com/source/817-6087/dgjndi.html#wp24622) but I'm not sure if I this is the right usage.

    how to install custome certificate with ssh?
    This is happing when certificate give me error: "This certificate has an invalid digital signature."
    Why not imlement update with ease import of custome certificate?
    I send many request to support but zero result.
    ig you google it this problem you will see that only cisco goods have this problem and no one care about that according cisco support. why? I will never buy cisco product.

    I try different browsers and they all have certificate notice alert.
    New IE on win8 by default not allow to enter secure page with expire certificates.
    I hope that cisco will make new firmeware with functionality to add costume certificate pfx for example.
    Cisco support lower encryption type. Every new windows encrase cryptograpgi that IE support by default. Look IE about to see type 64 or 128 or 256…
    On xp will work good, but we are now in era of win 8 with IE that support by default 128 or 256 depending home or server version.

  • New dual band AEBS: how to force access to 5GHz with single network name?

    I just got in a new Mac Mini. From what I had read of the new base station, I assumed that it would automatically connect to the 5GHz band. When I added it the network, the transfer speed seemed to low, however. The rate shown in Airport Utility was between 100 and 130. So I gave the 5GHz band a different name and had the mini join it, and the rate jumped up to 216. I guess it's not a big deal to have two names, but I thought this was supposed to work such that the devices that could utilize the 5GHz band would do it automatically. The mini is very close to the base station.
    Another issue is the rate. All of the "g" devices on the network have a steady rate of 54. The rate for the mini bounces all over the place, ranging from 135 to 270. What causes that and are these the rates I should be seeing? Thanks.

    I have the same problem
    Often, many venues will use the same SSID for 2.4 and 5GHz, so you can't tell which-is-which by the SSID and select the one you want

  • Juniper sa support mac access via https ?

    it shown you don't have permission to login

    Buy support contract for the device in question. Call support. Claim business service interruption because of the issue. Follow support's instructions.
    You can call support even without service contract, but you will not allowed to assign priority to the ticked, you will not allowed to speak with anyone who understand the matter and you will got a kind of formal response only - like it work for others, so it's a bug on your side or so.

  • How to use IGS via Web Services (or HTTP)?

    IGS is well integrated in Web Dynpro, BSP, BEx and so on...
    Via ABAP it's easy to call it but I do not find how to use it via HTTP (or better Web Services).
    Any idea?
    Sergio

    Dear Sergio,
    a scenario that makes use of the HTTP interface of the IGS is Web Dynpro Java. This may also be an alternative for you. But with a lot of technical background it is also possible to generate charts using the IGS via HTTP directly (Web Services are not supported).
    Prerequisite is an IGS somewhere in the network that has at least one HTTP listener defined and the XMLCHART interpreter is installed.
    You must send an HTTP request to the adress http://<igs-host>:<igs-port>/XMLCHART. The request must at least contain the parameter with name data as first parameter. This parameter contains the chart data as XML, see below. In addition all further parameters (the name doesn't matter but I would recommend something like custom1, custom2, ...) must contain the chart customizing as XML.
    If you already used the XMLCHART interpreter in an ABAP application or BSP you may know the data and customizing xml format. If not you can download the SAP ChartDesigner from the Downloads --> Web AS section of the SDN. This download contains a pdf describing the data xml format and the tool itself which can be used to create the customizing xml in an interactive manner.
    All HTTP related coding must be done by you.
    Best regards
    Matthias

  • Native (Not Web) Calendar Access over Internet  / SSL

    Hi,
    Is this possible? Our company uses OCS and we have an SSL VPN. I can access the web client for outlook anywhere via HTTPS/SSL access. However to use the native calendar client or Outlook Connector - it appears I need to be on our LAN. Do you know if it is possible to access the client directly over the internet?
    Classic example is obviously syncing a PDA. It expects the calendar to be available. When I sync my PDA to my notebook on the go this isn't possible.
    Comments appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Sorry if this question sounds dumb - but I have tried to research it as much as possible. To add some detail to this:
    MS Outlook can connect to Exchange/Active Directory server over RPC port 135 over the internet - no problem. Due to viruses (Microsoft - need I say more?), many places have blocked this port and effectively shut down hosted solutions on Exchange.
    So my question here is does OCS have any such limitation? Or can I run the native client (Or MS Outlook with the Oracle Connector) in confidence over the internet without worrying about issues like the one above affecting MS Exchange?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Office Web Apps - Preview not appearing when acccessing via HTTPS

    I have installed Sharepoint 2013 and Office Web Apps, set the wopibinding, and set the wopizone to be https-external. Everything seems to work fine if accessing the web app using HTTP (can open, edit, preview office web app (WAC) documents)... but if
    I access via HTTPS then I run into a mixed content error when trying to preview the WAC documents... I can open them and edit them without issue using office web apps inside the browser though just not preview.
    If I select "New document" it also takes a while to load and displays a blank pop up window... assume it must be related

    Hi  ,
    Before you configure SharePoint 2013 to use Office Web Apps Server via HTTPS, make sure that you have set up Office Web Apps Server by following the steps in Deploy
    a single-server Office Web Apps Server farm that uses HTTPS or Deploy a multi-server, load-balanced Office Web Apps Server farm
    that uses HTTPS.

  • E4200v2: Local Management Access via Wireless *ALWAYS* Enabled

    I just found a slightly unsettling bug in the E4200v2 (running the latest firmware 2.0.36 build 126507).
    Administration > Local Management Access > Access via Wireless ... set to DISABLED.
    HOWEVER, when I attempted to access the web interface on a handy iPAD I had absolutely no problem getting through to the web interface (after providing username and passsword).
    Limiting access to wired clients seems like a simple a prudent measure ... which is why this option is there for the paranoid among us.
    This seems like a black-and-white bug.  Comments welcome.  Fix in the next firmware revisio even more welcome.

    It was mentioned in another thread that disabling wireless management does indeed disable http access over port 80. However, if you're using https access--which uses port 443, that access is not blocked. So for anyone who wants to disable wireless management access, you need to enable management access via http only, and then disable the wireless access. That combination will indeed work.
    I have confirmed this on my own router and can now only manage via wired connections over http.
    Strange bug/oversight!
