How to generate a view with dynamic name?

I want to generate a view from several tables;
create view sample as select * from book1;
But I hope to create a serial views in my program,that is "sample" maybe "sample20010401" and "sample200010501" ect.If I define a variable,how to pass the value to the view?

We got a requirement where we have to email out SWF file either in PPT or outlook generated from BOBJ universe. When the file reaches the customer who would be outside our network with no access to our servers or data should be able to view the swf file with data. So the goal is to generate these files automatically and should not prompt for BOBJ login or wouldn't have ability to query the database but need to report data pertaining to the customer.

Hi Manohar,
You can use QAAWS(query as a web services) and build your queries on universe.
You get an option of hardcoding the user id and password in the data connection for QAAWS which will not asks the users for login credentials.
This will hepl the user to veiw the latest data from the database and the user wont be asked for login too.

Go to Tcode se11 choose view and enter the name and create a popup opens up choose database view option
enter the description
On the left hand side choose the table name.
Click on view fields tab and choose your table fields.Here you can choose which fields you want in your view.
Save and then activate.

Are u using mapping program in ur interface? If yes you can go ahead with ASMA + Dynamic Configurations for renaming the file.

FTP Activity - mget multiple files with dynamic names

Hope all is well.
I was wondering if there was a way to configure FTP activity to transfer multiple files with dynamic names from source location at daily intervals.
For example, my source files are affixed with date values (source_filename_<mmddyyyy>_<hh>.txt):
source_filename_12252009_00.txt
source_filename_12252009_06.txt
source_filename_12252009_12.txt
source_filename_12252009_18.txt
What I would like my process flow to do would be to download just these 4 files once daily based on a dynamic ftp script as follows:
open ${Remote.Host}
${Remote.User}
${Remote.Password}
cd ${Remote.RootPath}
prompt off
mget ????????
quit
In DOS batch script you would have the mget command with a wildcard as:
mget source_filename_%DATE:~0,2%%DATE:~2,2%%DATE:~4,4%*.txt
How does one go about implementing this in OWB? Does it require a user defined substitution varilable of some sort?

If you are able to achieve your objective from a DOS batch script then you can call that script for an User Defined Activity in OWB process flow .

Hi, anyone knows how to separate two contacts with same name in Contacts? Actually they are two persons from two gmail contacts with same name but different contact numbers, different emails....etc, but Contacts assume they are same person and merge them as one!

In Lion, you have the File > Duplicate option. You will then have two copies of your document open, and the one on top will have the temporary filename "OriginalFileName copy", and your next responsibility is to File > Save (or Command-S) and rename the duplicate. At this point, you edit the copy's name, to perhaps ...copy 1, or whatever you wish. The document you had open when you initiated the File > Duplicate will still be there on your screen, waiting for you to Close it or continue editing.

View with dynamic columns

Hello.
I'm sure this must be a FAQ but can't find it anywhere.
I'm collecting data from people in a questionnaire style but don't know what/how many questions there are. I need to create a view that displays responses to each of the questions as a view, as follows:
Name | Company | Favourite Colour | Age Range | Favourite Food
In this example, there are three 'dynamic' questions. The data is stored as follows:
People - basic information about the respondents
Questions - the names of the questions being asked
Choices - the options that can be chosen from for each question
Responses - the answers that people provide.
If I know exactly what questions there are, then I can JOIN to the questions table the appropriate number of times. But I don't! Can this be done without dynamic SQL?

I'm not into reporting tools, but I recall that Kalman has mentioned some component in Reporting Services that can do this. And obviously, if you receive the result set as a DataTable in .NET, you can write code to flip it.
As I said, a view or a result set in a relational database is a table that is supposed to model an enitity with a finite number of distinct attributes. For this reason, any query where the number of columns is not known until run-time has to build dynamically.
And since a relational database is not designed for handling such dynamic scenarios, all attempt to work with that dynamically generated result set will be painful.
So for the filters you mention, there are two options:
1) Filter in the database on the base tables.
2) Filter in the client on the pivoted data.
But don't get the idea to filter in SQL Server after the pivot.
If the total dataset is large, the first alternative certainly has an advantage, but else it's likely to be easier to do client side.

I am using Apex 4.0 with Oracle 10g
I am creating a report and I need to display columns dynamically based on the item values.
example:
I have a table employee with columns name, designation, sal
In the report page i have a select list with designations and when I select a designation from the select list,
I need to display the names of the employees horizontally,
like each name as a new column in the report with that particular designation. and same has to continue when I select different designations.
Can some one help me how we can do that.

Essentially you want to write a pl/sql function which returns a varchar2 string. The contents of the string must be a valid sql statement.
Once you have done this, you need to add a report region as type sql report and you will have the option of writing it as a query or as a function returning query. Choose function returning query and enter in the function call.
Note your function must be valid, and must be executable by your apex parsing schema.

How to convert internal table with dynamic fields to XML

I met a problem like the following:
The aim is to transform the following parameter to XML
IT_FIELD stores the dynamic filed name of the internal table,with these fields, the dynamic internal can be created by cl_abap_tabledescr=>create(it_field)
IT_VALUE stores the value of the internal table dynamically created with dynamic fields.
For example
IT_FIELD =>
line1: FIELD1
line2: FIELD2
line3: FIELD3,
three lines in this internal table.
dynamically created internal table structure FIELD1 FIELD2 FIELD3
And IT_VALUE=>
1 2 3 (First line)
11 22 33
two lines of data.
Do you have any idea about how to transform the IT_VALUE to XML here? And also the transformed XML to the IT_VALUE.( we may need remember IT_FIELD here for later XML to IT_VALUE.)
Hope I describe the problem clearly.

you need to implement a bit of coding for that.
With the 'do varying' statement abap provides a loop over those fields. Within this loop you can build up a new internal table with one entry for each period and amount.

How to create a dll with strong name

For some security purpose, I need to create a dll with strong name by packaging the bean. I am able to create a dll from the bean but how do I create a strong name(sign) dll? I tried using jarsigner utility to sign the jar and then convert it into dll using packager utility but still the resulting dll is not signed. Please anyone let me know how can generate a signed dll by packaging my bean. Any suggestion/help is most welcome. Thanks in advance.

Step-by-step procedure:
1. Download Signer from Codeplex. No installation is necessary.
2. Backup your unsigned assemblies
3. Open the Visual Studio Command prompt or otherwise make sure that your PATH includes the .NET SDK binaries, and change to the directory where your assemblies are located
4. In a command window, execute:
PATH_TO_SIGNER.EXE\signer -k FILENAME OF YOUR KEY -outdir TARGET DIR -a YOUR DLL
5. The resulting assemblies should now have a valid strong name from your company key. You can check this with:
sn -T YOUR DLL
The public key token must match the token of your public key.
BTW - this is totally unrelated to Java Programming.

How to create device IDs with same name

i am using SE 3310 and its creating different device ids for each node sharing it . since I will be building a RAC enviornment I need these IDs/name to be same .
for example on one node the lun id is /dev/rdsk/c3t0d0s6 but the same lun id on node 2 is /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0s6.
In past with an old storage array I fixed this issue by creating links in /dev/rdsk for c3t0d0s6 ---> c2t0d0s6.
my question is : is there a way in SE3310 that device ids get created with same name or do i still have to rely on creating these soft links ?

This could be a Solaris (I presumed) O.S. question rather than SE3310 or storage question.
The logical device (/dev/[r]dsk/*) is the work of the O.S. when it first configures the device, in this case the LUN from your SE3310.   I can go in depth on how the cX number happens (due to device probe order, driver differences, history of device discovery due to need of persistent device naming, etc...) but ... it's a really long story and is really quite irrelevant and most people should not be interested...
If you have COMPLETELY identical servers, i.e. identical hardware down to specific HBA in specific slot are the same,   and if you make sure that luns are presented to all servers exactly the same way, same order, and any changes are seen by all servers in the same sequence, in theory, all /dev/rdsk/* devices will be consistent across servers.
But that's still rather irrelevant.    Application that is designed to work in a redundant environment should not be dependent on logical devices like /dev/rdsk being the same.
So ... in effect this is also not a question for the Solaris forum, but rather a question for those familiar with RAC, how to configure such that device access is done "safely" through actually identifying the lun rather than assuming /dev/rdsk are consistent.
