How to generate repository documentation

Hello,
is possible to generate repository documentation? That mean, i would like to extract tables names, foreign keys, comments etc. into XLS file. Physical layer is enough for mne, thanks....

A little documented feature that became available with 10.1.3.3 is the Metadata Dictionary. Fire up your Repository in offline mode, go to Tools->Utilities->Generate Metadata Dictionary. Place the resultant set of files in $ORACLEBI_HOME/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/applications/analytics/analytics/<RepositoryName>. You then need to modify your instanceconfig.xml file to add the <SubjectAreaMetadata> tag. You can find details in the

When I generate the documentation with the flag -private (the less restrictive), I get only the javadoc class block comment for the nested classes, is there any way to see the information about fields, operations, constructors, etc.

This might be a bug in javadoc. When using -private, all
program elements should be documented. There should be nothing
special that you need to do to document the members of nested
classes.
However, we haven't done a lot of testing with -private.
If you would please submit an example of the source code that
reproduces this error, we can take a look at it. Please follow

It's also possible this has been fixed in 1.4.x.

Generate SDK Documentation Using ASDoc

I am trying to obtain a copy of the toplevel_classes.xml for the entire flex framework. I need the xml file as I suffer from RSI (violins out!) and I use the xml file to generate Voice Commands to help me dictate the code.
I found an excellent article by Rob Dixon about how to generate the toplevel_classes.xml which apparently is not documented in livedocs.

I am able to generate the required file for small projects, but when it comes to generating the code for the entire current version of the flex sdk, I am at a loss. I have checked out the latest version of the SDK from the svn repository but when I run the asdoc ant task I am faced with a number of errors, which mean no output is generated. I found a bug in the Flex Bug and Issue Management System which seems to relate to my problem. I made a clone of an original issue which was deemed to be resolved, please see key SDK-16843 in the issue management system for info. Please vote for resolution if you think the issue is worthy.

I know that what I need to do is possible, I found out that the technique was used to generate some posters of the entire flex framework, these posters are awesome, I am going to get some printed. See the following link for details.

Ideally I would like to include the data visualisation components in the documentation output (in fact as much of the flex framework as possible) I have worked out how to do this by following instructions given on the Flex Docs blog which enables me to have the source code for these components available. I am not sure how to set up the asdoc tool to ensure that these classes are included in the doc output.

How to generate columnar PDM for HANA?

Hi Folks,
I'm quite new to PowerDesigner and have been working on generating a HANA database from MS SQLServer.
Currently I've been able to import a source SQLServer system as a Physical Data Model in PowerDesigner. I was then able to generate SQL DDL scripts to generate the DB manually in HANA, and I also watched a video about how to generate the DB directly in HANA via a connection to the repository which seems straightforward.
The challenge that I'm current facing is how to alter the entire PDM to make *all* tables of type "column" rather than "row". Since SQLServer was the source system, rather than HANA, PowerDesigner appears to default to row store... (shouldn't PD's default storage type for HANA DB's be column store by default? This make substantially more sense than row store by default... but I'm digressing.)
I can see how to do this on a table-by-table basis, but haven't yet figured out how to cascade this setting to the whole PDM. Any assistance would be very much appreciated!

If what to want is globally change the Type of all the tables in a PDM, you can do it by using the List of Tables. You display the "Type" column in the grid and change the Type value from Row to Column while doing a multi selection

Generating repository reports

I need some help.
I've been trying to create repository reports, but when i generate a repository report, only the first and last page come out,when the repository does consist of application elements. However, the 'Full Repository documentation' report is the only one that will generate, but all other reports do not. Why is that?

Another question. How good are the Impact Analysis functionalities of Oracle Designer. I tried a manual process to compare it with Oracles utilities. The Column change impact Analysis report was not as detailed as i expected. For instance, it does not identify the usage of columns in application logics within the repository.
Is this the case, or is some other method available apart from manual?

I've tried, this url did'nt recognize as a web service.
For example, in Oracle E-Business Suite ( Integration Repository ) there's a button to generate wsdl url. The wsdl url is http://servername/webservice/pls/test?WSDL.
So is it possible we generate wsdl url like in E-Business Suite ? Or there's something we need to configure so Siebel wsdl url will recognize as web service in E-Business Suite.

Visual C++ runtime library error when generating printed documentation from RH9

I just upgraded a project from RH 7 to RH 9. I tried generating printed documentation in Word from it, but as soon as the Printed Documentation dialog opened, a Visual C++ Runtime Library error displayed. RoboHelp stopped working and I had to restart.
I tried using one of the sample projects -- same thing happened.
I then created a brand-new project. This time, opening the Printed Documentation dialog worked. I selected "Generate Word Doc" and the .docx extension, since I have Word 2010, and tried to generate printed documentation. However, the following message then displayed: Cannot find Microsoft Word installed on your system.
So I have two questions:
- How can I avoid crashing RoboHelp when generating printed documentation?
- How can I ensure that RoboHelp finds the Word 2010 installation on my system?

OK, just played around a bit more and I was able to help myself on the first question:
- I created a new Printed Documentation Layout in the Single Source Layouts pane, and from there I was able to generate .pdf files, without encountering the Visual C++ runtime error.
- But the "Cannot find Microsoft Word installed on your system." msg still pops up when I try to generate .docx files. (When I generate .doc files, they have no content.)

First the fact that the problem is with old layouts suggest they were using an old template.
The PDF creation relies on a Word document being created in the background. The fact that you cannot generate a good doc or docx makes it odd that you get a PDF. The PDF is OK I take it?
I'm wondering if you have not applied the 901 patch and are running Word 2010 64 bit?

How to generate code in Sun Java Studio Enterprise 8

Do I miss something? I can�t find how to generate code from UML model, which is not reversed from code. Documentation also does not speak about this.
Code update works fine if project is reversed from code, but if in such reversed model I create new class it does not appear in code and context action "Generate Code" is missing for such class.

1. I have created Java Project With Existing Source
2. selected directory with code (not whole project but directory with java classes)
3. After that I have created UML Java Specific project and
4. Associated UML project with previous created java project
5. I have selected "Code Generation" check box
6. Classes from java project were reversed into UML model.
7. After that I have created new class in java project.
And there is no Generate code action in this class context menu, also this class do not appeared in code automatically.
From UML project properties it is shown that UML project is associated with proper java project)
Same is with Java Application project associated with UML java project.
Documentation do not talks more about this. Only same steps. It looks like code generation should be working but it isn't. I'm I only one who face this problem, or do smth wrong?

How to generate Token

Hi,
I'm using Agile PLM for Process 6.1.0.1.
in Agile Product Lifecycle Management for Process Documentation Library v6.1 >> Administrator User Guide is explained how to generate a Token from ADMIN Module.
The guide says to click on ADMIN > Activities > Generate Token on the left navigation panel. Our issue is that the "generate Token" row exit doesn't appear.
We have the same issue with the "import".
The only row exit that appear is "Export"
Do you know which could be the cause of this issue?

Hi, in the EnvironmentSettings.config file there are several sections that control this.
First is the DataExchangeService node, which need to be different for the Source system versus the Target System. This controls which system can generate tokens.

Usually for number generations in SAP there is a concept called number range generations using Tcode SNRO.
For your numbers genrations you need to create one object in SNRO(usually crreated by functional people) and then that object you need to pass it to NUMBER_GET_NEXT functional module in your program, it will create number for every call and then you can concatenate all the above three into one variable.
