How-to Generate Script from the export dump file

Hi all,
Software : Oracle 10gR2/Windows 2003
=============================
Has anyone generated a Script from a export dump file ( exported via data pump export). I know it is possible to generate script from the regular export.
I want to know how to generate the script for various objects or is it possible to get the counts of types of objects in the dump file and / or generate the script from the export dump file exported via data pump utility on Oracle 10g.
Thanks,
SS

I want to know how to generate the script for various objects.what do you mean by scripts? Assuming the metadata definitions of various objects.
First of all, you can generate the metadata definitions using import.
Use, Impdp with SQLFILE parameter to generate the SQL file for the metadata definitions.

  • Create a test DB from  the export DMP file

    Hi Gurus,
    I was able to create the DMP file by export and transfer it to the test machine. It is a Windows OS.
    Now in this machine I recently installed Oracle 11g. And I have this export *.DMP file in a dir.
    I need to import the DMP file which into this newly created database to give a test database in 11g.
    I also created the user for which the export is done.
    I need to know how to import the DMP file. I am new to this import-export business.
    Thanks
    Amitava.

    Hi,
    Use IMPDP:
    impdp username/password@dbname full=Y directory=<location of the dmp file> dumpfile=<dumpfile name> logfile=<logfile name to be created>

  • How to import cookies from an exported IE file

    Can cookies be imported into Firefox directly from an IE ".txt" file? (The IE "Favorites" bookmark file came in fine.)
    I'm setting up a new Linux machine and don't have/want IE on it, so the ability to import data from another browser isn't much help.

    I don't know if this method is supported anymore but you can give it a try.
    If you backed up bookmarks in IE using the following directions, you should be good!
    *In IE, "File -> Import and Export -> Export Cookies".
    *Open newly exported "cookies.txt" in a text editor and put a period before every line that starts with a domain. So a line starting with <b>altavista.com TRUE / FALSE 1388491200 AV_ALL 1</b> will become <b>.altavista.com TRUE / FALSE 1388491200 AV_ALL 1</b>
    *Then, move the "cookies.txt" file to your profile folder.
    You can get to the Profile folder two ways
    *Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory > Show Folder
    or
    *Go to '''about:support''' and click Show Folder next to Profile Directory.

    and only 2 new tablespaces (originally 3) were
    created without any data in ( i check that in
    the Oracle Storage manager : the tablespaces exit
    with 0.002 used space; originally 60 M for each !!)
    so,
    How to import data (with full import option) succefully
    MORE THAN ONE TIME from an exported dump file ?
    Even if we have to overwrite tablespaces , tables and users.

  • How to run a shell script from the GUI?

    This is probably a dumb question...
    How do I run a shell script from the GUI? I've been told to double click it but when I do, it opens as a text file.

    The behavior you describe is that used by the KDE and GNOME desktops of Linux.
    Under OS X, if you make a script then mark it as executable, double-clicking on it in the Finder will not execute it. Actually, it uses a rather complex algorithm ([summarized here|http://arstechnica.com/reviews/2q00/macos-qna/macos-x-qa-2.html]) to determine what to do with it. This is implemented in Mac OS X' LaunchServices framework (incidentally, the associations are cached in /Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices*.csstore and ~/Library/Caches/com.apple/LaunchServices*.csstore). You can read the details in the developer docs about LaunchServices.
    Anyway, in short, the suffix '.command' is a built-in type in the LaunchServices network that identifies a shell script. If you run
    /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServic es.framework/Support/lsregister -dump
    ... it will tell you as much.

  • How I run a shell script from the scheduler on 10.2.0.2.0 ?

    Hello Oracle People,
    I'd like to run a shell script from the Scheduler in my 10g database.
    Right now it is a simple shell script.
    Eventually it will wrap RMAN commands to back up my DB.
    I wrote a simple pl/sql script to create a job:
    -- cr_job10.sql
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_JOB (

    repeat_interval => 'FREQ=DAILY',
    end_date => '08-SEP-07 4.00.00PM US/Pacific',
    enabled => TRUE,
    comments => 'My Backup Job');
    END;
    I see no errors when I run the above procedure.
    I checked DBA_SCHEDULER_JOBS and the job is in there.
    The scheduler, though, errors out with an error which I see in a trace file:

    Hello people,
    I should have added this bit of information:
    "The script runs fine from oracle's crontab."
    "The script runs fine from a shell owned by oracle."
    I'm getting responses telling me to check my env variables and permissions
    which would be helpful to a UNIX novice.
    I have a feeling that no one is using the scheduler to run RMAN scripts.
    Tim Hall suggested I take a close look at these files:

    Jared points out that rman needs access to extproc:
    $ ls -la /h/oracle/product/10r2/bin/extproc
    -rwsr-x--- 1 rman dba 34468 Sep 21 2006 /h/oracle/product/10r2/bin/extproc
    $
    $
    Here is a demo of rman running his script:
    bash sol root /h/oracle/product/10r2/bin 35 # su - rman
    Sun Microsystems Inc. SunOS 5.10 Generic January 2005
    $
    $
    $ ls
    scripts
    $
    $
    $ scripts/tst.sh
    $
    $
    $ cat scripts/tst.sh
    #! /bin/sh
    /usr/bin/date > /tmp/tst.sh.out.txt 2>&1 &
    exit 0
    $
    $
    $ cat /tmp/tst.sh.out.txt
    Fri Sep 7 16:31:23 PDT 2007
    $
    $ rm /tmp/tst.sh.out.txt
    $
    I am focused on this error:
    ORA-27369: job of type EXECUTABLE failed with exit code: 274662
    And I am focused on this exit code: 274662
    What does 274662 mean?
    If the Scheduler gives me an error like "274662" rather than some English,
    it's obvious to me the Scheduler is a POS and I should not use it.
    And of course,
    If I cannot run RMAN from Oracle Scheduler, I'll use cron.

    Hi Srinath,
    When i observed the create table syntax of external table from import dump log file, it show few lines as below. I could not understand these special characters. And create table definationis failing with special character viz ORA-00911: invalid character
    ACCESS PARAMETERS
    LOCATION (EV02_PRICEMARTDATA_CSV_CON:'VPA.csv').
    I even observed the create table DDL from TOAD. It is same as i mentioned earlier

  • Export dump file and log file  name as sysdate in script

    Hi to All,
    Can anybody help me to give logical backup export dump file namd log file name is as contain sysdate in its name so that we can Uniquelly identified it.
    Regards
    DXB_DBA

    On windows it gets a bit hairy as there really is no clean and nice way of doing it.There are a couple of options.
    1. If you can rely on dateformat not changing, you can use a static substring expression. For example, the following might work w/ finnish locale echo %date:~3,2%%date:~6,2%%date:~9,4%Similarly, when you know the dateformat you can tokenize the output of 'date /t' and discard the tokens you don't want.
    2. You can set dateformat to your liking and then just use %date% in your script
    3. You can run a "SELECT to_char(sysdate,..." into a file and then read that file in your script.
    4. Simon Sheppard also has a solution you could use as a basis. I have a slight issue with the approach, but that could just be me.
    5. Use gnuwin32 or similar ;)
    Also note that %date% env var is set automatically from w2k onwards, so some of the solutions might not work w/ older versions.
