    Hi
    How to get a string "yyyyMMdd" into date like MM/dd/yyyy?. i have used
    SimpleDateFormat.parse but it is giving long value. i want to disply the date
    like MM/dd/yyyy
    thank you

    Do you want the string rearranged or do you want to create an instance of some form of Date class?
    If you want to rearrange the string you could just do it yourself provided you know the date string is going to be of the format yyyyMMdd.
    something like this:
    String newDate = origStr.charAt(4) + origStr.charAt(5) + "/" + origStr.charAt(6) + origStr.charAt(7) + "/" ...etc.

  • How to get a string or byte array representation of an Image/BufferedImage?

    I have a java.awt.Image object that I want to transfer to a server application (.NET) through a http post request.
    To do that I would like to encode the Image to jpeg format and convert it to a string or byte array to be able to send it in a way that the receiver application (.NET) could handle. So, I've tried to do like this.
    private void send(Image image) {
        int width = image.getWidth(null);
        int height = image.getHeight(null);
        try {
            BufferedImage buffImage = new BufferedImage(width, height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
            ImageIcon imageIcon = new ImageIcon(image);
            ImageObserver observer = imageIcon.getImageObserver();
            buffImage.getGraphics().setColor(new Color(255, 255, 255));
            buffImage.getGraphics().fillRect(0, 0, width, height);
            buffImage.getGraphics().drawImage(imageIcon.getImage(), 0, 0, observer);
            ByteArrayOutputStream stream = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
            JPEGImageEncoder jpeg = JPEGCodec.createJPEGEncoder(stream);
            jpeg.encode(buffImage);
            URL url = new URL(/* my url... */);
            URLConnection connection = url.openConnection();
            String boundary = "--------" + Long.toHexString(System.currentTimeMillis());
            connection.setRequestProperty("method", "POST");
            connection.setRequestProperty("Content-Type", "multipart/form-data; boundary=" + boundary);
            String output = "--" + boundary + "\r\n"
                          + "Content-Disposition: form-data; name=\"myImage\"; filename=\"myFilename.jpg\"\r\n"
                          + "Content-Type: image/jpeg\r\n"
                          + "Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64\r\n\r\n"
                          + new String(stream.toByteArray())
                          + "\r\n--" + boundary + "--\r\n";
            connection.setDoOutput(true);
            connection.getOutputStream().write(output.getBytes());
            connection.connect();
        } catch {
    }This code works, but the image I get when I save it from the receiver application is distorted. The width and height is correct, but the content and colors are really weird. I tried to set different image types (first line inside the try-block), and this gave me different distorsions, but no image type gave me the correct image.
    Maybe I should say that I can display the original Image object on screen correctly.
    I also realized that the Image object is an instance of BufferedImage, so I thought I could skip the first six lines inside the try-block, but that doesn't help. This way I don't have to set the image type in the constructor, but the result still is color distorted.
    Any ideas on how to get from an Image/BufferedImage to a string or byte array representation of the image in jpeg format?

    Here you go:
      private static void send(BufferedImage image) throws Exception
        ByteArrayOutputStream byteArrayOutputStream = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
        ImageIO.write(image, "jpeg", byteArrayOutputStream);
        byte[] imageByteArray = byteArrayOutputStream.toByteArray();
        URL url = new URL("http://<host>:<port>");
        HttpURLConnection connection = (HttpURLConnection) url.openConnection();
        connection.setDoOutput(true);
        connection.setRequestMethod("POST");
        OutputStream outputStream = connection.getOutputStream();
        outputStream.write(imageByteArray, 0, imageByteArray.length);
        outputStream.close();
        connection.connect();
        // alternative to connect is to get & close the input stream
        // connection.getInputStream().close();
      }

    >> Fair cop. I didn't realise that asc() returned the

    >
    > and what would be the difference?
    Oh, sorry, whatever the term is (I'm crap with jargon). The
    value returned
    by asc() for those chars was only two bytes (ie: four hex
    digits). I
    didn't realise there was more to it than that, and that
    2-byte value maps
    to some other THREE byte value. I need to do some reading...
    > that's what both cf & java counted as the length.
    CHARACTER length, sure. No-one's disputing that. On the other
    hand,
    no-one's asking about it, either.
    > by adding a BOM you've already effected the encoding,
    which may or may not
    > match the original. so you still don't know how many
    bytes were in the original
    > string.
    [groan]
    Yes, that's a reasonable strawman there. I was only putting
    it in a file
    so I could save it and check the number of bytes occupied by
    the data.
    Clearly... CLEARLY... the OP is not asking for a character
    length of that
    string. They've said as much.
    I copy and pasted the string from their post, and used it as
    a
    demonstration of how "nine" is not the right answer for the
    BYTE LENGTH of
    that string. Whether or not the original string was UTF-8,
    UTF-16 or
    special-marmoset-encoding, it almost certainly was NOT in a
    fictitious kind
    encoding in which each of those particular characters only
    occupied one
    byte each, which would mean that "nine" is the correct answer
    to the
    question.
    When I copied those characters from either the web browser
    for from my
    text-based news agent, notepad identified them (and rendered
    them
    correctly) as UTF-8, so I'm fairly confident they ARE UTF-8.
    Of course
    this could be down to some intermediary encoding (pasting
    them in to the
    original posting, for example, via some encoding-transforming
    mechanism),
    but Occam's Razor suggests the original question was from a
    UTF-8 POV.
    But maybe we should quit speculating and ask the OP. Unless
    they've
    buggered off in despair of how drawn out all this is getting.
    For which I
    would not blame them.

  • How to get Chinese string in the database?

    Hi,
       My dear friends.
       I successfully connect the database, the data in the table as shown below
      When I try to get "小明", but the following results were obtained
    Does anyone know why, and how to get the correct result?
    Thank you.

    You need to be aware of character conversions. Look at WideString, it support UTF32 chars.

  • How to get the string value from the RichSelectBooleanCheckBox component?

    I added a validator to a RichSelectBooleanCheckBox component which is binded to a String attribute of a View Object.
    I defined the mapping of boolean value to corresponding String value in the corresponding attribute binding in the page definition.
    When the validate() method of my validator was invoked, the new value passed to the validate method() was a Boolean value instead of the converted String value.
    I need to write validate() method generically so that it can handle more than one way of mapping boolean values to String values.
    How can I get the converted String value in my validator method() from the RichBooleanCheckBox component that was also passed to the validate() method as a parameter?

    use:
    int num = Integer.parseInt(s);

  • How to get a string of an HTML element

    No, but I don't see that it has to. I presume
    you're writing an AIR app with HTML and JavaScript. If so, you can
    query and modify the HTML's DOM tree with JavaScript. Then, still
    using JavaScript, you pass it off to the AIR side, using the "AIR
    aliases" APIs. So:
    <table><tr><td
    id="foo">bar</td></tr></table>
    <script>var mycontent =
    document.getElementById('foo').innerHTML; // variable equals "bar"
    now</script>

    document.toString(), perhaps.

  • How to get common datas from two int.tables

    hi,
    please tell me , how to i will get the common datas between two int. tables
    & place them in third int. table.
    give me syntax.
    regards
    subhasis.

    Hi Subhasis,
    <b>SORT :</b></u>
    SORT itab.
    Extras:
    1. ... BY f1 f2 ... fn
    2. ... ASCENDING
    3. ... DESCENDING
    4. ... AS TEXT
    5. ... STABLE
    The syntax check performed in an ABAP Objects context is stricter than in other ABAP areas. See Field symbols not allowed as sort criterion.
    Effect
    The entries in the internal table are sorted in ascending order using the key from the table definition (DATA, TYPES).
    Addition 1
    ... BY f1 f2 ... fn
    Effect
    Uses the sort key defined by the sub-fields f1, f2, ..., fn of the table itab instead of the table key. The fields can be of any type; even number fields and tables are allowed.
    You can also specify the sort fields dynamically in the form (name). If name is blank at runtime, the sort field is ignored. If itab is a table with a header line, you can also use a field symbol pointing to the header line of itab as a dynamic sort criterion. A field symbol that is not assigned is ignored. If a field symbol is assigned, but does not point to the header line of the internal table, a runtime error occurs.
    If the line type of the internal table contains object reference variables as components, or the entire line type is a reference variable, you can use the attributes of the object to which a reference is pointing in a line as sort criteria (see Attributes of Objects as the Key of an Internal Table.
    You can address the entire line of an internal table as the key using the pseudocomponent TABLE_LINE. This is particularly relevant for tables with a non-structured line type when you want to address the whole line as the key of the table (see also Pseudocomponent TABLE_LINE With Internal Tables).
    If you use one of the additions 2 to 5 before BY, it applies to all fields of the sort key by default. You can also specify these additions after each individual sort field f1, f2, ..., fn. For each key field, this defines an individual sort rule which overrides the default.
    Addition 2
    ... ASCENDING
    Effect
    Sorts in ascending order. This is also the default if no sort order is specified directly after SORT. For this reason, it is not necessary to specify ASCENDING explicitly as the default sort order.
    With the addition BY, you can also specify ASCENDING directly after a sort field to define ascending order explicitly as the sort sequence for this field.
    Addition 3
    ... DESCENDING
    Effect
    Sorts in descending order. If the addition comes right after SORT, DESCENDING is taken as the default for all fields of the sort key.
    With the addition BY, you can also specify DESCENDING directly after a sort field.
    Addition 4
    ... AS TEXT
    Effect
    Text fields are sorted appropriate to the locale. This means that the relative order of characters is defined according to the text environment being used.
    When an internal mode is opened (in other words, when a roll area is opened), the text environment is automatically set to the logon language specified in the user master record. If necessary, however, you can change the text environment explicitly in your program by using a SET-LOCALE statement.
    If the addition comes directly after itab, locale-specific rules are used for all fields of the sort key where the type of these fields is C or W. After the sort, the sequence of entries usually does not match the sequence which results otherwise, without using the addition AS TEXT, i.e. with binary sorting.
    With the addition BY, you can also specify AS TEXT directly after a sort field, provided it is of type C or W, or a structured type. Otherwise, a runtime error occurs. In sort fields with a structured type, AS TEXT only affects subcomponents with type C or W.
    In case of an invalid character, a SYSLOG message is written, and the respective record is inserted at the end.
    Note
    Please keep the rules for site-specific sorting in mind.
    Example
    Sort a name table with different keys:
    TYPES: BEGIN OF PERSON_TYPE,
             NAME(10)   TYPE C,
             AGE        TYPE I,
             COUNTRY(3) TYPE C,
           END OF PERSON_TYPE.
    DATA: PERSON TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF PERSON_TYPE WITH
                      NON-UNIQUE DEFAULT KEY INITIAL SIZE 5,
          WA_PERSON TYPE PERSON_TYPE.
    WA_PERSON-NAME    = 'Muller'. WA_PERSON-AGE = 22.
    WA_PERSON-COUNTRY = 'USA'.
    APPEND WA_PERSON TO PERSON.
    WA_PERSON-NAME    = 'Moller'. WA_PERSON-AGE = 25.
    WA_PERSON-COUNTRY = 'FRG'.
    APPEND WA_PERSON TO PERSON.
    WA_PERSON-NAME    = 'Möller'. WA_PERSON-AGE = 22.
    WA_PERSON-COUNTRY = 'USA'.
    APPEND WA_PERSON TO PERSON.
    WA_PERSON-NAME    = 'Miller'. WA_PERSON-AGE = 23.
    WA_PERSON-COUNTRY = 'USA'.
    APPEND WA_PERSON TO PERSON.
    SORT PERSON.
    Now, the sequence of the table entries is as follows:
    Miller  23  USA
    Moller  25  FRG
    Muller  22  USA
    Möller  22  USA
    If, for example, you apply German sort rules where the umlaut comes directly after the letter 'o' in the sort, the data record beginning with 'Möller' would not be in the right place in this sequence. It should come second.
    Provided a German-language locale is set (e.g. sorting is according to German grammatical rules, see also SET LOCALE), you can sort the names according to German rules as follows:
    SORT PERSON BY NAME AS TEXT.
    Now, the sequence of table entries is as follows:
    Miller  23  USA
    Moller  25  FRG
    Möller  22  USA
    Muller  22  USA
    Further examples:
    SORT PERSON DESCENDING BY COUNTRY AGE NAME.
    Now, the sequence of table entries is as follows:
    Miller  23  USA
    Möller  22  USA
    Muller  22  USA
    Moller  25  FRG
    SORT PERSON DESCENDING BY AGE ASCENDING NAME AS TEXT.
    Now, the sequence of table entries is as follows:
    Muller  22  USA
    Möller  22  USA
    Miller  23  USA
    Moller  25  FRG
    Addition 5
    ... STABLE
    Effect
    Uses a stable sort, that is, the relative sequence of entries that have the same sort key remains unchanged.
    Unlike additions 2 to 4, you cannot use this addition directly after a sort field.
    Notes
    General:
    The number of sort fields is restricted to 250.
    The sort process is only stable if you use the STABLE addition. Otherwise, a predefined sequence of fields used to sort a list is not usually retained.
    It does not make sense to use the SORT command for a SORTED TABLE. If the table type is statically declared, the system returns a syntax error if you try to SORT the table. If the table type is not statically declared (for example, because the table was passed to a FORM routine as an INDEX TABLE in a parameter), and the system can interpret the SORT statement as an empty operation, it ignores the statement. This is the case when the key in the BY clause corresponds to the beginning of the table key. Otherwise, a runtime error occurs.
    To delete all duplicate entries from a sorted internal table (e.g. just after SORT), you can use the DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES FROM itab statement.
    When using the addition AS TEXT, the sequence of entries after the sort does not usually match the sequence resulting from a binary sort, i.e. if the addition AS TEXT is not specified. The consequence of this is that after the SORT, you are not allowed to access with the READ TABLE itab ... BINARY SEARCH statement.
    If you still want to access data sorted apppropriate to the locale with a binary search, you can do this by including an additional component in the table where you can explictly store the data formatted using the CONVERT TEXT ... INTO SORTABLE CODE statement. This is also recommended for performance reasons if you have to re-sort the table several times according to locale-specific criteria.
    If the internal table has more than 2^19 lines or is larger than 12 MB, the system sorts it physically using an external auxiliary file. You can specify the directory in which the file should be created using the SAP profile parameter DIR_SORTTMP. By default, the system uses the SAP data directory (SAP profile parameter DIR_DATA).
    Notes
    Performance:
    The runtime required to sort an internal table increases with the number of entries and the length of the sort key.
    Sorting an internal table with 100 entries with a 50 byte key requires about 1300 msn (standardized microseconds). Using a 30-byte key, the runtime is about 950 msn.
    If one of the specified sort criteria is itself an internal table, SORT may sometimes take much longer.
    The runtime increases if you use a stable sort.
    Physical sorting reduces the runtime required for subsequent sequential processing.
    Reward If Useful.

  • How to get prepared string before sending to sql

    Hi
    I want the prepared string before sending to Sql (After substitution and setXXX), is it possible to do this? if yes, how ?
    PreparedStatement ps = cn.prepareStatement("select * from table1 where name= ''?'' ");
    ps.setString(1, "mytable")
    <-- I want the prepared string before sending to Sql (After substitution and setXXX) -->
    ResultSet rs = ps.executeQuery();
    Thanks
    Ali

    As I mentioned, I want Sql Text before execution
    n (getting resultSet), and after whole of setXXXs,No way, I believe.
    I have tried in many ways, let me put down my work.
    String query = "'Select * from dept where deptno=?'";
    System.out.println("Before : "+query);
    PreparedStatement ps = con.prepareStatement("select "+query+",? from Dual");
    ps.setInt(1,50);
    ResultSet rs = ps.executeQuery();
    if(rs.next()) {
    System.out.println("After : "+rs.getString(1));
    ps.close();
    con.close();I have tried in these lines, to capture the sql query, but it is failing at execution and the exception is 'bind variable not found'. So, I think you need to implement your own class to construct this query. Getting the details from DatabaseMetadata to see how the driver's setter methods works and you can use the same logic in your custom class.
    Good luck.

    Do you mean padding a String?
          * This method pads the string s to size n using char c to make up for missing characters.
         public static String padString(String s, int n, char c, boolean paddingLeft) {

  • JSP/Struts How to get a String to display as HTML?

    <logic:present name="ShowAnswers">
      <logic:iterate id="ShowAnswers" name="ShowAnswers">
       <br>
       <html:textarea name="ShowAnswers" property="anAnswer"> </html:textarea>
    </logic:iterate>I've got a Vector of Strings that are being written to a .jsp using <logic:iterate> as shown above. The String anAnswer contains HTML code.
    Is there a way to get it written using the above framework as HTML rather than text ?
    I've tried <bean:write name="ShowAnswers" property="anAnswer"/> which also just writes out the raw HTML rather than the formatted HTML.

    try using the "filter" attribute of bean:write.
    <bean:write name="ShowAnswers" property="anAnswer" filter="false"/>
    For clarity you should use different names for your loop variable and your actual list. I know that it currently works, but thats only because they are in two different scopes.
    Also standard coding conventions specify that variable names should always start with a lower case letter.
    <logic:present name="ShowAnswers">
      <logic:iterate id="anAnswer" name="ShowAnswers">
       <br>
        <bean:write name="anAnswer" property="anAnswer" filter="false"/>
    </logic:iterate>
