.dmp files are created from our Export and Data Pump database utilities and are proprietary files. You use the corresponding Import (or Data Pump) utility to import the data. -
Getting the schema using Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.1
I need to generate a report in CSV/XLS format using Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.1 to get the schema details
in the below format.
Table Name: XXXXXXXXX
Table Space Name: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Structure :
Field Name Data Type Size
Xxxxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxx
Xxxxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxx
Xxxxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxx
Xxxxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxx
Field level constraint:
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Table Level Constraint:
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Indexes:
Index Name Column Name(s) Table space name
Xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxx
Xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxx
Xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxx
Sequence Number:
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Triggers:
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I am using a query to do that, but I cannot run more than one queries in the Create Report Dialog.
I went to the Menu->View->Reports. In that, I chose User Defined Reports, created a new folder called Schema Detail and in that a report named Schema Detail. I right click on that report, choose Edit option, Create Report Dialog opens.
In the Create Report Dialog, I chose the option Script for Value of Style.
In the SQL column I enter a query "select * from table_names". But, if I enter another query after that, it does not run and reports an error "SQL Error: ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended
00933. 00000 - SQL command not properly ended" Cause: Action: "
I end the first query with a semi colon, but it does not work.
The queries run fine in a SQL Worksheet. There, I can terminate the first query with a semi colon and enter the second query. Then, I run both of them together so that result-set of second query appears after the second.
Am I doing something wrong? Can someone please advise on how to get the information I need?
Thanks a lot.You can do it in SQL Worksheet because you are running a script. You could run the script in SQL*Plus, and even start it from a bat/cmd file.
Or if you want this as a User Defined Report, you might make it a PL/SQL style report. Here, all output is done through DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT or DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE. You can output HTML tags or plain text. I have an example in my paper for ODTUG Kaleidoscope 2009. -
How to see job section in "Oracle SQL Developer"
Hi,
I am using oracle SQL developer to connect to oracle instance unlike procedure,tables,views i am not able to see job section (we have can see in toad as job section) please help me to get locate the same.There's no support for jobs yet. Vote on the existing feature requests at the SQL Developer Exchange if you want to add weight for future implementation.
If you have trouble handling them manually, you can always ask help on the SQL And PL/SQL forum...
Thanks,
K.
Edited by: -K- on 20/05/2009 12:27:
BTW, there are some job reports (Reports - All Reports - Data Dictionary Reports - Jobs), but those will list only DBMS_JOB stuff, not the DBMS_SCHEDULER ones.
You can also create your own reports and/or User Defined Extensions to add a Jobs node inside the connection navigator, but that's for more advanced users... -

How to get all the values of a variable with F4 with checkboxes to select
Dear Experts,
After Executing a query by giving let 3 values(Out of 10 Values) to a variable.
To give 2 more input values to the same variable(i.e.,total I wanted to give 5 inputs this time ),after refreshing the query,for that variable if I click F4, I am seeing the historical values(i.e.,3) and remaining 7 values also But with out any Check Boxes besides them to select the 2 inputs.
In the same F4 Screen, If I click all values(an Icon at The bottom),then also Im seeing but no check Box.
I hve tried by deleting the Delete Personalization also,but no use.
Please tell me How to get all the values with F4 with check boxes to select ,whatever I want??
Thanks in advanceTake a look at the InfoObject and go to the Business Explorer tab. If the 'Query Def. Filter Value Selection' is set to 'Only Values in InfoProvider', you're only going to get the values in F4 that exist in the InfoProvider, not everything in the Master Data. This would need to be changed to the value of 'Values in Master Data Table' if you want it to show everything possible when F4 is chosen.
Likewise, you're going to need to look at the query and go to the Advanced tab for the InfoObject. Make sure that the radio button for 'Values in Master Data Table' is selected. If not, then you should change that selection. -
How to compare two schemas in Oracle sql developer
Hello,
I need to compare both the data and schemas details (columns etc) between two schemas on different databases (connections).
What is the easiest and most efficient way to do this? Hopefully in Oracle Sql Developer or Sql Plus?
Thanks.In SQL Developer go to Tools -> Schema Diff !
in SQL* Plus you will need to write PL/SQL for this.

Thanks in advance ,
R.RatheeshWhat?
Sql developer is not enterprise manager.
Size of datafiles? Read the documention, and read the concepts and administration manuals for your release.
I am not going to provide links, because you have not given your database version number and secondly if you found this forum you can find the docs.
But I will give you a clue....DBA_DATA_FILES...

Displaying tables in Oracle SQL Developer
Anyone who can help me I thank you in advance. I installed SQL Developer v1.5.3 and can connect to the databases I want to access. After establishing the db connection the Tables icon is displayed. I click on it and no tables are displayed. I can run scripts so I know ihave read access to them . Is there anyone who can help my determine why Tables does not expand and diaply the tanbles in the db?
What do you mean by other owners node? I am an Oracle or SQL newbie. The db I'm accessing is a corporate db. Is there additional permissions (beyond read permisiion to run queries) I need to be able to view the tables as well? Most others access the dbs via Toad or PSQL and are not having this issue. No money for those so I have to use SQL Developer. The Oracle client is 9i, and the db is 10.

How to compile all invalid objects in SQL Developer
Hi
I am used to PL\SQL Developer and currently I am testing SQL Developer (version 2.1). I have question where can I find in SQL Developer functionality (or how to invoke those functions) like:
1 ) To list all invalid objects and then compile them.
2) Invoke window similar to “Command window” in PL\Sql Developer
Thanks for help
GroxyCould I please revive this and ask how do I use UTL_RECOMP?
Also, I could not find a description of the icons in SQL Developer. Some procedures are shown with a green plus sign (I am guessing here since I can't make out what it is) on them and the ones that I right-click and compile have this green go away. Can you explain?
Thanks a lot. -
How to update column in Oracle SQL Developer?
Hi everybody,
How can I update table in Oracle SQL Developer like in PL/SQL Developer use:
Select * from table for update;
Thank you~Do you mean you want to edit the result grid?
You can't edit the result grid of a query, but you can edit the data tab of a table.
Click on the table in the object browser
Click on the data tab
Optionally filter the results using the filter field at the top
Type into the data cells.
Click on the commit button -
How to use Temporary Table in PL-SQL
In MySQL there is no Temporary table concept.
So for intermediate calculation I have created a table as below
create table SequenceTempTable
SessionId VARCHAR(50),
Sequence VARCHAR(500),
CreatedDate DATE
) ENGINE=MEMORY;
Whenever I invoke a SP, I load the data into SequenceTempTable using Session Id as below
CREATE PROCEDURE `GetSequence`(
IN Start_Date VARCHAR(25),
IN End_Date VARCHAR(25)
BEGIN
SELECT UUID() INTO v_SessionId;
INSERT INTO SequenceTempTable values (v_SessionId,'1,2,5,3',now());
required code
DELETE FROM SequenceTempTable WHERE SessionId = v_SessionId;
COMMIT;
END;
i.e. I have created a table as temporary table (created once),
and load the data using Session Id and once session specific intermediate computation done,
I deleted the session specific data.
Could you give me examples of How to use Temporary table in PL-SQL code with respect to my above example.
Because I have gone through creating Temporary table but I stuck with use in PL-SQL. I mean to say Is there any need of creating table in advance before invoking SP.
And one more thing as in MySQL temp table I created which is using MEMORY engine i.e. this table will always be in MEMORY so there is no need of writing data on disk.
Regards
SanjeevHi Sanjeev
Read about GTT here
http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/8i/TemporaryTables.php
GTT always contains just session specific data. \
In case you want to use the GTT in the same session again you can use option
ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS;
Or if it is used just once in the session use can use
ON COMMIT DELETE ROWS;
Do remember that for GTT the data of one session can not be accessed in other session.
Also you can go away with Delete from GTT if not used again in same session.

Assertion in oracle sql developer
Hello all
im using oracle sql developer and oracle11g , how can i use assertion for my tables? i searched in internet but there were no useful information
thank u in advance
best,
david>
I think something like this: we use a primary key which is in another table, it should be included there,this is not assertion in oracle?
>
No. That is a foreign key constraint.
There are other types of constraints that you CAN use on tables such as check constraints.
See the 'Constraint' section in the SQL Language Doc
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28286/clauses002.htm
>
constraintPurpose
Use a constraint to define an integrity constraint—a rule that restricts the values in a database. Oracle Database lets you create six types of constraints and lets you declare them in two ways.
The six types of integrity constraint are described briefly here and more fully in "Semantics":
A NOT NULL constraint prohibits a database value from being null.
A unique constraint prohibits multiple rows from having the same value in the same column or combination of columns but allows some values to be null.
A primary key constraint combines a NOT NULL constraint and a unique constraint in a single declaration. It prohibits multiple rows from having the same value in the same column or combination of columns and prohibits values from being null.
A foreign key constraint requires values in one table to match values in another table.
A check constraint requires a value in the database to comply with a specified condition.
A REF column by definition references an object in another object type or in a relational table. A REF constraint lets you further describe the relationship between the REF column and the object it references.
>
And see 'Managing Integrity Constraints' in the DBA Guide
