How to get Material long text / Sales Text

Hi,
when I have created a service order I have enter Long text in Tab Item Details , i.e in sales Text I have entered some text , So can any one tell me how to get this text as I have to show this text in invoice printing

2nd 10 character denotes AFKO-AUFPL with respect to the production order in this case

I need to pass some material details from SAP to legacy system once user create / edit a material. I have no problems with fields like material no, type, group etc except the long text, I can't find the long text field from the user exit (EXIT_SAPLMGMU_001).
When I use READ_TEXT function, also can't retrieve the long text because it haven't save to STXH/STXL table yet, I guess.

if it havent saved yet , then try to pass document no as '$0000000001'( in most of cases it will work but i'm not sure abt ur transaction ), it should work..

save_text is working fine .
Now I want to display the text in text area .
am using read_text fm for this and data is coming into the internal table of the function module.
how shd I display that long text into text area and that text shld appear has display mode only and how shd I make all other fields in my subscreen as display mode.

Long Texts are stored in tables
STXH - header
STXL - details.
if you want to read the texts you can use Fun Module READ_TEXT
Any Application document Header and Item Long texts are stored in STXH table with the 4 parameters OBJECT,ID,NAME and LANG
These texts are fetched from database using READ_TEXT fun module by passing the above 4 parameters.
Double click on the text, from the text editor menu GOTO-> HEDAER
you will find the all above 4 parameters
so accordingly you have to pass to the fun module READ_TEXT to fetch the texts.

How to get a long text into the SapScript

Hi.
I need to read text from header field from ME21N. I use to this READ_TEXT function module, which is called from SapScript but the problem is, that this function returns me just about 80 chars and trim rest of string.
First idea was use loop in form, but is impossible, how to solve this problem.

Use FM 'READ_TEXT' to get this values.
Say for exampele my material is 1900001 and batch is 0000000517.
Then my parameters to the FM will be as follows:-
Text Name       000000000001900001    0000000517
Language        EN
Text ID          VERM
Text Object     CHARGE
This information you can get as follows.
Open the short text window in the text editor.
Here you can enter the long text.
In the editor Go to Header and you will find the details.
Please note that the text name will comprise of
Material
Batch
Plant
Stor. Location
if all the details are given.

Get the long text into BADI from text editor

I implemented BADI ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST, before saving the purchase order i am calling the text editor where i am writng
the long text . but when save the text from the text editor the long text in the editor is not updating to the BADI.
Can anybody help how can i get the long text to the BADI.

a) Find out for which table this long text is linked.
b) Go to TTXOB table and in the field TDOBJECT, check whether this entry is present.
c) If present, then use FM READ_TEXT, to get the long text value.
Important parameters to be passed in READ_TEXT
a) ID
b) Language (EN??)
c) Name ( I believe in this case it would be ZEILE)
d) Object (TTXOB-TDOBJECT value)

I believe you need to look at the Elements of the Document. Use the Document.getDefaultRootElement() method to get the first root Element. From there you can iterate through all the Elements. You should then be able to check the attributes of the element to see if it contains the Bold attribute using something like:

if ( attributes.containsAttribute(StyleConstants.Bold, Boolean.TRUE)

when press the save button i am getting the long text into the internal table . this is working fine till here.
But when press SAVE button , i want the text into the internal table and the text editor to be closed.
but here i am not able to get the data into internal table as it is again creating text editor .

Make sure you have filled OBKEY.
OBJKEY must have the corresponding sort field for the values named below :-
1. QMEL - Notification header
2. QMFE - Notification item
3. QMUR - Notification cause
4. QMSM - Notification task
5. QMMA - Notification action
The combination of sort field of item/cause, item/task and item/action must be unique within a notification. If you leave the sort field empty and the OBJTYP = QME, then a long text is created for the notification header.

Search help for Material long text ?

Hello,
A given material code MATNR is linked a material short text ( MAKT_MAKTG for example) which is on max 40 characters.
Where can i maintain the material long text ( around 100 characters) which is available in a search help in standard SAP ?
Note : in the material master data, i know the view Purchase order text, but is there any search help for this ?
Or do you have to develop an own search help ?

OK, i understand that a search help on long text is not a good idea
Nevertheless, 40 characters to name a material is too short for our users. Do you know any other text field that we can use ? because i imagine it is not possible to extend MAKTG to more that 40 char.
Our issue is that we upload our material data from some manufacturer material file, and their material description (even the one called " short text" is often more than 40 char.
Do you see any possible solution ?

How to upload Methods long text using LSMW

Hi,
I am using LSMW - direct input program (Object 0001 Method - 0001) to upload methods long text.
I have two files with header and item as below
Header file:
Object : QPMETHODE
ID : QMTT
Item_id : link between header and item (method number)
NAME: Passing concatenated value of "sy-mandt, company code, Method number, 6 char space for version and language"
Language : E or S.
Item file:
Item_id : link between header and item (Method number)
Text Format : blank
Text line : long text
Here the problem is, after converting the data i have run the direct input program to upload the long text, but it is not updated in the transaction QS34.
Could any one help in this?

The field QMTT-LTEXTKZ is a flag which says whether Inspection method has a long text associated with it at transaction level. You are not able to see the Long text in the transaction though you have loaded & able to see the long text by FM READ_TEXT because in your case the field QMTT-LTEXTKZ = ' '. so I suggest you to load the long text in following way.
Step 1: make a small recording to Tx: QS33 - push the long text button to get the long text editor. in this editor, on second line of the tag, put a * and save the transaction. By this way you put a X in field QMTT-LTEXTKZ & hence register a longtext for Inspection Method.
Step 2: proceed with the loading the Long text with object 0001as you mentioned.
Now you will be able to see the LT on the transaction level.
