How to get rid of "Response already been committed" error!!

Hi there,
My requirement is, I have a set jsp pages that contains header, sidebar and footer.,
In case any illgeal error comes in the process of any page, I am tring to redirect to an error.jsp page this page also contains header, sidebar and footer.
But I am getting this "Cannot forward as OutputStream or Writer has already been obtained or committed " error
Note: I am using <%@ include file="header.jsp" %> to include header, sidebar and footer jsps
Please guide me through to accomplish this functionality without any error!!
Thanks in advance,
vinoth.

Hi
The server maintains a buffer for the content that is to be written out to the client. When this buffer is filled to capacity the default action is to flush the content to the client while fresh content is loaded into the buffer.
Now, it is illegal to do a forward once the output is commited i.e the buffer has been flushed to the client - this is the source of your error. To solve this problem you will have increase the size of the buffer from the default size ( this depends on the application server you are using) to a size which will not overflow until all the page content is loaded into it so that you have suffcient time to decide if you must flush the buffer to the client or clear the buffer so that you may forward it to the error page.
To increase the buffer size, include the page directive in the JSP page , the page directive would look like this :
<%@ page page-attribute-list %>
In the attribute list for the buffer attribute provide a size in KB - this will be by trial and error as if the size of your Header , Sidebar exceed your buffer size the buffer would be flushed.
Another attribute that you may set is autoFlush the default value of which is true. If you set it to false it becomes your responsibility to flush the buffer when it is full.
Keep me posted on your progress.
Good Luck!

    you didnt seem to have configured the datasource / connection pool / database control with proper db properties
    you should check your configuration to see if you have done it right and then you should check your application and the properties settings in the controls to ensure they are right.

  • Tiles- Cannot forward after response has been committed Error

    I am trying to use following approach for my tiles implementation but i am getting error like
    java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot forward after response has been committed.
    I have gone thorugh the other posts regarding the same error but not helping me.
    Any clues greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    "I haven't found a way to directly dispatch to a tiles definition, but you can eliminate the need for multiple "wrapper" JSPs by creating a single "tilesDispatch" JSP that is able to dispatch to different tiles definitions, and establishing a convention for mapping URLs to that JSP, and identifying the tiles definition you want to load.
    For example, you could use the following convention to identify a tiles definition:
    /tiles/defName
    where "defName" is the name of the tiles definition (from tiles.xml) that you want to use. The code for the tilesDispatch.jsp would be as follows:
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8" language="java" %>
    <%@ taglib prefix="t" uri="http://jakarta.apache.org/struts/tags-tiles" %>
    <%
    String tilePath = request.getRequestURI();
    int slashIndex = tilePath.lastIndexOf('/');
    if (slashIndex >= 0) {
    tilePath = tilePath.substring(slashIndex+1);
    %>
    <t:insert definition="<%=tilePath%>" flush="false"/>
    The scriptlet code takes the request URL (e.g. /tiles/defName), strips off everything up to and including the final slash (e.g. defName), then the tiles "t:insert" tag is used to look up and insert the corresponding tiles definition.
    In order to map all URLs of the form /tiles/* to the tilesDispatch.jsp, you would need to add the following to your web.xml:
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>tilesDispatch</servlet-name>
    <jsp-file>tilesDispatch.jsp</jsp-file>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>tilesDispatch</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/tiles/*</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    Note: You may need to insert a slash before tilesDispatch.jsp in the <jsp-file> element. I am using pre-compiled JSPs, so my configuration is a little different. So if <jsp-file>tilesDispatch.jsp</jsp-file> doesn't work, try <jsp-file>/tilesDispatch.jsp</jsp-file>.
    Once you have this set up, you can refer to tiles definitions using the /tiles/defName convention in your faces-config.xml. For example, if you have two tiles definitions in your tiles.xml file: tile1 and tile2, you could have something like the following in faces-config.xml:
    <navigation-rule>
    <from-view-id>/tiles/tile1</from-view-id>
    <navigation-case>
    <from-outcome>success</from-outcome>
    <to-view-id>/tiles/tile2</to-view-id>
    </navigation-case>
    </navigation-rule>
    Note that when I have used this convention, I also have used the prefix mapping for JSF. That is, when linking to a JSF page, based on a tiles definition, from a non-JSF page, the URL would be as follows:
    /faces/tiles/defName
    In this case, the Faces servlet is initially invoked, which sets up the JSF environment. Then the /faces prefix is stripped off, and the remaining URL (/tiles/defName) is routed to the tilesDispatch.jsp, which strips off the /tiles/ prefix, and inserts the "defName" definition.
    We are currently using this approach in a number of web apps, and it is working very reliably. I hope this helps.

  • How to get rid of "ORA-22881: dangling REF" error on :new.OBJECT_VALUE?

    Hi,
    I'm having trouble with a "ORA-22881: dangling REF" error against :new.OBJECT_VALUE when a trigger executes.
    Here is the initial trigger:
    create or replace TRIGGER "CSHEET_UPDATE"
    BEFORE UPDATE ON "CSHEET" FOR EACH ROW
    BEGIN
    SELECT
    updateXML(
    :new.OBJECT_VALUE,
    '/Csheet/METADATA/MODIFIED_DATE/text()', to_char(SYSDATE, 'YYYY-MM-DD') || 'T' || to_char(SYSDATE, 'HH:MI:SS')
    INTO :new.OBJECT_VALUE FROM dual;
    END;
    And this is the error I get with even a simple UPDATE:
    BEGIN
    UPDATE CSHEET SET OBJECT_VALUE = OBJECT_VALUE WHERE rownum = 1;
    COMMIT;
    END;
    Error report:
    ORA-22881: dangling REF
    ORA-06512: at "LNC.CSHEET_UPDATE", line 5
    ORA-04088: error during execution of trigger 'LNC.CSHEET_UPDATE'
    ORA-06512: at line 2
    22881. 00000 - "dangling REF"
    *Cause:    The object corresponding to the REF that was accessed does not
    exist.
    *Action:   Ensure that the REF value is pointing to an existing object.
    However, if I add a schemavalidate() call at the beginning of the trigger then the error disappears.
    New trigger:
    create or replace TRIGGER "CSHEET_UPDATE"
    BEFORE UPDATE ON "CSHEET" FOR EACH ROW
    BEGIN
    :new.OBJECT_VALUE.schemavalidate();
    SELECT
    updateXML(
    :new.OBJECT_VALUE,
    '/Csheet/METADATA/MODIFIED_DATE/text()', to_char(SYSDATE, 'YYYY-MM-DD') || 'T' || to_char(SYSDATE, 'HH:MI:SS')
    INTO :new.OBJECT_VALUE FROM dual;
    END;
    Is there another way, besides using ":new.OBJECT_VALUE.schemavalidate();", to correct the :new.OBJECT_VALUE dangling REF issue?
    Thanks

    Hi Marco,
    This is my version info:
    Oracle Database 11g Release 11.1.0.6.0 - Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.1.0.6.0 - Production
    CORE 11.1.0.6.0 Production
    TNS for 32-bit Windows: Version 11.1.0.6.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 11.1.0.6.0 - Production
    CSHEET is indeed object relational storage.
    BEGIN
    DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.REGISTERSCHEMA(
    schemaurl =&gt; 'CSheet.xsd',
    schemadoc =&gt; sys.UriFactory.getUri('/public/Schemas/CSheet.xsd'),
    local =&gt; TRUE,
    gentypes =&gt; TRUE,
    genbean =&gt; FALSE,
    gentables =&gt; TRUE,
    force =&gt; FALSE,
    owner =&gt; 'LNC',
    enablehierarchy =&gt; DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.ENABLE_HIERARCHY_NONE
    END;
    The only "unusual" aspect of it is that it does some out-of-line storage, has a primary key assigned internally, and specifies a couple of unique restrictions:
    Snippets from the schema:
    &lt;xs:element name="Csheet" xdb:defaultTable="CSHEET" xdb:columnProps="CONSTRAINT CSHEET_pkey PRIMARY KEY (XMLDATA.UCN)"&gt;
    &lt;xs:element name="LEGISLATION" maxOccurs="unbounded" xdb:SQLInline="false" xdb:defaultTable="CSHEET_LEGISLATION"&gt;
    &lt;xs:complexType&gt;
    &lt;xs:sequence&gt;
    &lt;xs:choice&gt;
    &lt;xs:sequence&gt;
    &lt;xs:element name="NAME" type="reasonable_data_T"/&gt;
    &lt;xs:element name="CITATION" minOccurs="0" type="CITATION_T"/&gt;
    &lt;/xs:sequence&gt;
    &lt;xs:element name="CITATION" type="CITATION_T"/&gt;
    &lt;/xs:choice&gt;
    &lt;xs:element name="REFERENCES"&gt;
    &lt;xs:complexType&gt;
    &lt;xs:sequence&gt;
    &lt;xs:element name="REFERENCE" maxOccurs="unbounded" xdb:SQLInline="false" xdb:defaultTable="CSHEET_REFERENCES"&gt;
    &lt;xs:complexType&gt;
    &lt;xs:sequence&gt;
    &lt;xs:unique name="unique_pinpoints"&gt;
    &lt;xs:selector xpath="REFERENCE"/&gt;
    &lt;xs:field xpath="PINPOINT"/&gt;
    &lt;/xs:unique&gt;
    &lt;xs:unique name="unique_legislation"&gt;
    &lt;xs:selector xpath="LEGISLATION"/&gt;
    &lt;xs:field xpath="CITATION"/&gt;
    &lt;/xs:unique&gt;
    And I rename and scope the REF tables:
    DECLARE
    gen_name VARCHAR2 (4000);
    BEGIN
    SELECT TABLE_NAME INTO gen_name FROM USER_NESTED_TABLES
    WHERE PARENT_TABLE_NAME = 'CSHEET';
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'RENAME "' || gen_name || '"TO CSHEET_LEG_V';
    SELECT TABLE_NAME INTO gen_name FROM USER_NESTED_TABLES
    WHERE PARENT_TABLE_NAME = 'CSHEET_LEGISLATION';
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'RENAME "' || gen_name || '"TO CSHEET_REF_V';
    END;
    ALTER TABLE CSHEET_LEG_V ADD SCOPE FOR (COLUMN_VALUE) IS CSHEET_LEGISLATION;
    ALTER TABLE CSHEET_REF_V ADD SCOPE FOR (COLUMN_VALUE) IS CSHEET_REFERENCES;
    Nothing really non-standard and everything works just fine...except I HAVE to schemavalidate() to undangle my REF :( .
    I don't even understand where the REF is coming from since it was my understanding that OBJECT_VALUE was considered an XMLType. Could it have something to do with the out-of-line tables?
    Thanks

  • Itunes: feed has already been submitted error. can't fix it!

    after being on itunes for many years, apple recently took down my videocast. i've since corrected the problems. however, every time i try to resubmit it, i get the "feed has already been submitted" error.
    i've done everything that's been suggested. i've changed the feed title, pointed to a different source url ("original feed" in feedburner parlance), changed the show description and itunes category. however, i don't want to change the feedburner feed addresss because i don't want to lose all my itunes comments and subscribers, assuming i ever get this fixed.
    btw, my feedburner feed addresss that i want to resubmit to itunes is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/chillcastvideo
    i've tried contacting apple "support" but sad to say it's a joke, shuffling me around from person to person who gives me "advice" that doesn't work. for an otherwise great company, they're failing here.
    so if anyone has anything else for me to try, i'm all ears.
    thanks!
    ryan

    hi roger, are you saying apple automatically deletes comments and subcribers for podcasts that have been removed? i ask this because you helped the poster in this thread who was having the same issue: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4943722?start=0&tstart=0
    and i looked up his show on itunes and all his older comments are there along with his subscribers. i'm just trying to figure out what he did and do the same.

  • How to get rid of Safari !!!!!

    I must have missed the message to install Safari during one of the many iTunes updates and now I'm stuck with it on my computer taking up 60GB of space! I've tried removing it through Control Panel -> Uninstall Programs, but get the message that I don't have administrator privilages - which I do. Thinking I may have had this installed while I was logged in under my main administrator name, I logged off and logged back in under my only other user name and tried again - same message. So I went to the Safari folder and changed all security privilages to full access for both accounts and it still won't uninstall. How can this program claim I don't have administrator privilages when I used the only two user accounts on my computer?? So in a fit of defiance and desperation, I deleted the Safari folder and then ran the name "safari" in Vista's search box under the Start menu (I even included the wildcard .* to catch all examples). Guess what? Rather than find all traces of safari on my computer so I could delete them manually, Safari started running again!! I cancelled the program before it finished loading and went to recheck the Program Files folder and Safari was back there with a full 60GB of files again! I CAN'T GET RID OF IT!!
    Safari is a malicious software program as bad as any Malware or Adware I have ever seen! How can I get rid of it??
    (and no, I really do not want Safari - I don't care if you think its the greatest thing since sliced bread - I make the choices on my computer, not some software engineer or marketing division and I DON'T WANT SAFARI!!)
    Any suggestions on how to get rid of it? Did I miss something?
    Thanks all,
    LH

    The Safari update is not clear what it is and provided no explanation of what it was - it simply states "Safari". For all I know it could have been an indexing file for iTunes. There was no explanation as to what is was and the install checkbox was already checked so the unsuspecting may quickly and accidentaly hit install along with the iTunes update, thinking it was a required part of iTunes. Regardless of how it got there, I'm trying to get rid of it and it won't uninstall.
    Now you may fancy yourself as some kind of wunderkind software expert, but you apparently do not know Vista because it really does take up 60 GB and every time I delete it, it tries to reinstall itself. These are not multiple installations and I am the only user on this computer. You haven't offered me any help - only insults. If you aren't willing or able to offer help or assistance in the most sincerest form this request was intended, than stay out of this thread. Your actions and insults reinforce the prevailing belief that Apple users are unkind, rude, self-important snobs.

    Re: How to change the logo, (3 Globes) on the launch page
    Posted: Mar 18, 2009 12:46 PM in response to: David Fletcher Reply
    OK then, now v7sp03 for microsoft has hit the shelves, you can change the logo !!!
    It is quite easy.
    Have the logo file ready in either BMP, GIF or JPG format.
    Put it in your "Server Install -> DataWebFolders[Appset]" folder (so where you keep your files).
    In ApplicationSet parameters, add the parameter COMPANY_LOGO and in the options type the name of the file you just put on the server.
    Now if you restart BPC for Excel, the second excel page that pops up should be showing your new logo or graphic (mine did).
    The use of the logo has been documented in the admin manual -> working with appset parameters
    Some tips.
    I wanted not to clutter the filesystem so i put my logo in the appsetpublications folder and added the path accordingly in the parameter (so now it reads appsetpublicationslogoname.jpg instead of just logoname.jpg).
    If you do not supply a name (only the parameter), your second Excel window (normally holding the graphic) will not appear. That could be an alternative too if you find that whole thing annoying.
    Hope this helps you build great BPC apps,
    Edwin van Geel

    You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware. Follow Apple Support's instructions to remove it.
    If you have trouble following those instructions, see below.
    Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. This procedure works as of now, as far as I know. It may not work in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for a more recent discussion, or start a new one.
    The VSearch malware tries to hide itself by varying the names of the files it installs. To remove it, you must first identify the naming pattern.
    Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for two files with names of the form
              com.something.daemon.plist
    and
               com.something.helper.plist
    Here something is a variable string of characters, which can be different in each case. So far it has always been a string of letters without punctuation, such as "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," or "trusteddownloads." Sometimes it's a meaningless string such as "e8dec5ae7fc75c28" rather than a word. Sometimes the string is "apple," and then you must be especially careful not to delete the wrong files, because many built-in OS X files have similar names.
    If you find these files, leave the LaunchDaemons folder open, and open the following folder in the same way:
    /Library/LaunchAgents
    In this folder, there may be a file named
              com.something.agent.plist
    where the string something is the same as before.
    If you feel confident that you've identified the above files, back up all data, then drag just those three files—nothing else—to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Close the Finder windows and restart the computer.
    Don't delete the "LaunchAgents" or "LaunchDaemons" folder or anything else inside either one.
    The malware is now permanently inactivated, as long as you never reinstall it. You can stop here if you like, or you can remove two remaining components for the sake of completeness.
    Open this folder:
    /Library/Application Support
    If it has a subfolder named just
               something
    where something is the same string you saw before, drag that subfolder to the Trash and close the window.
    Don't delete the "Application Support" folder or anything else inside it.
    Finally, in this folder:
    /System/Library/Frameworks
    there may an item named exactly
                v.framework
    It's actually a folder, though it has a different icon than usual. This item always has the above name; it doesn't vary. Drag it to the Trash and close the window.
    Don't delete the "Frameworks" folder or anything else inside it.
    If you didn't find the files or you're not sure about the identification, post what you found.
    If in doubt, or if you have no backups, change nothing at all.
    The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
    This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
    In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
    Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
              Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
              Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • IllegalStateException - response has already been commited

    Hi all!
              We are running WLS 5.1 sp7 on an NT box.
              Our application consists of jsp pages with <jsp:include...>, servlets
              and stateful/stateless beans. The only class that actually performs a
              forward is a servlet that serves as a dispatcher. We are getting from
              time to time an IllegalStateException - response has already been
              commited exception. This phenomena is irregular and non reproducable.
              Does anybody know if this has anything to do with a certain
              configuration issue? Has anyone encountered a similar problem?
              Is there a known workaround?
              Any help would be highly appreciated.
              Thanks,

    You are getting the illegal state exception because somewhere between the
              intercept of the request by a jsp/servlet and your
              requestDispatcher.forward(request, response), a class along the way is
              calling either the getInputStream() method or the getReader() method of
              javax.servlet.ServletRequest. Once you call either of these methods to
              read from the ServletInputStream() you may not be able to do a forward.
              I am having the same problem see my post from today. I have no idea how
              to get around it but I have an identical exception in wl6.0sp1 and that
              is the cause and I have never seen anything like it.

  • How to get rid of pop-ups on my macBook air?

    One of my roommates recently downloaded torrent on my macbook air to watch a movie, and since then I have been experiencing popups every time I open a new page on safari. Also, my search engine has switched to something known as search-quick? I've tried a few different mac detox sites to no avail. Very frustrated. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this "virus" and pop-ups would be much appreciated!

    There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware.
    Here something is a variable word, which can be different in each case. So far it has always been a string of letters without punctuation, such as "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," or "trusteddownloads." Sometimes the word is "apple," and then you must be especially careful not to delete the wrong files, because many built-in OS X files have similar names.
    If you find these files, leave the LaunchDaemons folder open, and open the following folder in the same way:
    /Library/LaunchAgents
    In this folder, there may be a file named
              com.something.agent.plist
    where the word something is the same as before.
    If it has a subfolder named just
               something
    where something is the same word you saw before, drag that subfolder to the Trash and close the window.
    Don't delete the "Application Support" folder or anything else inside it.
    Finally, in this folder:
    /System/Library/Frameworks
    there may an item named exactly
                v.framework
    It's actually a folder, though it has a different icon than usual. This item always has the above name.
Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.

    or

    if it's not already checked.

  • I have very thin, colored lines running vertical on my desktop monitor screen.  I don't know where they come from or how to get rid of them.  I started with one and now have three.  Can anyone give me some insight about what to do in getting rid of them?

    I have very thin, colored lines that have shown up on my IMac monitor screen.  I don't know where they came from or how to get rid of them.  I'm concerned now because I started with one and now have three.  Does any know why this occurs or how to get rid of them?

    I got an address from Applecare, although I can't place my hand on it right now. I didn't bother persuing the letter route myself as I didn't expect much. I know that the location was Cork, Ireland though as that where the UK Applecare is based as far as I'm aware. The best thing to do is to call Applecare (if it's free) and discuss the issue. State that you are not happy wit the fact that you will have to pay to have the problem resolved especiiay if it is an ongoing problem that has not been resolved. I ended up speaking to a senior manager of the Applecare team who then proceeded to tell me about mailing in my grievence to customer services division or something like that.
    If I can find the address I may post it if I'm allowed.
    In the case of age, Schools usually have a 5-year life-cycle as they tend to be used differently than consumer machines, i.e. being used constantly on a daily basis for at least 12 hours with no break. you would expect issues to appear after a few years, but I expect problems that arise through defects to be resolved and stay resolved. As I mentioned we had machines for around 2 years before the lines appeared and sent them to be repaired. I'm happy with that. What I am unhappy about is the fact that the problem has reappeared exactly in the same way and now I'm left with around 7 machines that I either pay loads to repair or, the more likely replace the machines with newer ones since the age is now big enough to warrant the replacement.
    Sorry for the lengthy moan, but these are the reasons I purchased Apple ahrdware in the first place to avoid the "not our problem" stance some PC vendors  usually take, similar to the Dell monitors thread mentioned in here somewhere.

  • How to get rid of automatically created server accounts in iCal and Mail?

    I have recently setup an OS X 10.6.2 Server for our small office. I got the domain name wrong in the initial install and fixed this by doing a complete clean reinstall of OS X 10.6 server (then upgrade to 10.6.2).
    The problem is that one of the OS X 10.6.2 clients had been setup to talk to the server prior to the rebuild. Now on this client, I cannot work out how to get rid of or change the automatically created server accounts in iCal and Mail - everytime you login, these are recreated using the old domain name (and of course don't work).
    In Mail if you remove the server account (from Accounts in Preferences), it just pops back again. I even removed every trace of the old domain name from the apple.com.mail.plist file but when I re-open Mail that darned server account (with the old domain name) just pops up again.
    In iCal its slightly different in that you can remove the account and it stays away while you have iCal open. But as soon as you close and re-open it, that server account just pops up again!
    I thought it might be something to do with Kerberos and found a Kerberos file on the client which had the old domain name throughout it - I changed all these references to the new domain name, but still the same behaviour in Mail and iCal.
    This is doing my head in. Any ideas?
