How to get SQL server IP ?

Hi ALL ,
I am using this script to get the SQL server IP address but it is working on one of the servers and generating an error on the other
SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('ComputerNamePhysicalNetBIOS') [Machine Name]
   ,SERVERPROPERTY('InstanceName') AS [Instance Name]
,LOCAL_NET_ADDRESS AS [IP Address Of SQL Server]
,CLIENT_NET_ADDRESS AS [IP Address Of Client]
 FROM SYS.DM_EXEC_CONNECTIONS
 WHERE SESSION_ID = @@SPID
there error I am getting is
Invalid object name 'SYS.DM_EXEC_CONNECTIONS'.
Any ideas how to get it to work ?

Do you have
VIEW SERVER STATE permission?
Can you execute below SQL and post us the output?
SELECT HAS_PERMS_BY_NAME(null, null, 'VIEW SERVER STATE');
Also, Can you check the existence of the DMV under master database -> views->system views of the server?

  • How to restore SQL Server 2008 database to SQL Server Express 2012

How to restore SQL Server 2008 database to SQL Server Express 2012.
I BACKED UP a SQL Server 2008 database from work, which runs the enterprise version of 2008, and I tried to RESTORE it to my new 64-Bit home PC which is running the new SQL Server Express 2012 64-Bit (Advanced Edition).
But if fails. I get the following message text.
Can anyone help me please. I thought restoring a 2008 database to the later version 2012 would be possible.
Here is the error message. Thanks.
TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
    Restore of database failed. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.RelationalEngineTasks)
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The database was backed up on a server running version 8.00.2039. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 11.00.3128. Either restore the database on a server that supports the backup, or use a
backup that is compatible with this server. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended)

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The database was backed up on a server running version 8.00.2039. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 11.00.3128. Either restore the database on a server that supports the
backup, or use a backup that is compatible with this server. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended)
Are you sure your database is SQL server 2008 from error message it seems your SQL server version is 2000.I guess you have multiple versions of SQL server.
AFAIK you cannot restore backup of SQL server 2000 to 2012 directly .Restore it first to SQL 2008/2008R2 or 2005 then take backup again of new database created and then you would be able to restore it on 2012.Its kind of intermediate way
Also make sure your DB size is less than 10 G as max DB size supported by Express edition is 10 G and if your DB size is more than 10 G restore will fail.
You are also trying to restore enterprise DB backup on express edition so you will loose enterprise features on express edition

  • Getting SQL Server Agent running

I am trying to get my SQL Server Agent running, and no conventional means thus far have worked.
I set it to run automatically in the Services window of the Control Panel. Attempting to run it from there yields the error "The SQL Server Agent (BENTLEYECAD) service on Local Computer started then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they
are not in use by services or programs"
Attempting to start the Server agent in the Server configuration manager yields the error "The request failed or the service did not respond in a timely fashion. Consult the event log or other applicable error logs for details"
The resulting error log in SQLAGENT.OUT is

I have installed this version of SQL alongside Promise V8i (M). Any advice on how to get this server agent running is welcome
    -Eugene

    I see.
I'm not sure if it's Express or not, how can I tell? The start-up for the server management studio just says "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2"
If this is the case, will any other version of SQL besides Express work? or is it only specific ones?
    Thanks,
    Eugene O'Donnell

  • How to let sql server 2008 know the table created at front end in c#

How to let sql server 2008 know the table created at front end in c#

The best solution is to create table type and pass the DataTable as table-valued parameter. I have an article on my web site about this:
    http://www.sommarskog.se/arrays-in-sql-2008.html
The full article is a bit of overkill for what you are doing right now, but just the few first pages should get you going.

  • How to add sql server (SQLEXPRESS) AND sql server Agent(SQLEXPRESS) in sql server Configuration Manager

When I had uninstall Sql Server 2008 R2, that time I had uninstalled instances (SQLEXPRESS and MSSQLSERVER) and again installed sql server 2008 r2 setup .
Before uninstalling from control panel >Uninstall program showed two setups
    1) Microsoft sql server  2) Microsoft sql server R2 , I uninstalled both.
As i installed SQL R2 again, it is showing only 1 instance ie "Microsoft sql server R2" but the other instance is some how missing -"Microsoft sql server" and
also sql server (SQLEXPRESS)  AND sql server Agent(SQLEXPRESS)  services from sql server configuration manager are missing
How to retain the missing instance and the above services?
    Plz give replay

    Hi Tushar,
I need to ask you a question here.
Why you require SQL Express edition on your machine, if there is no need you can safely ignore it and continue using SQL Server 2008 R2 edition.
Express edition can also get installed if you happen to have installed Visual Studio 2010 for instance.
If you need it then you must install SQL Server Express edition, It is a freeware and can be download from Microsoft website.

  • Unable to get SQL Server Agent to run after installing SQL 2012 Standard with SP1

I am unable to get SQL Server Agent to run after installing SQL 2012 Standard with SP1. Log message is as follows:
Attempting to load library 'xplog70.dll' into memory. This is an informational message only. No user action is required.
Failed to verify Authenticode signature on DLL 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Binn\xplog70.dll'.
    Error: 17750, Severity: 16, State: 0.
Could not load the DLL xplog70.dll, or one of the DLLs it references. Reason: (null).

    Hi JFriedley,
According to your error message, there might three reasons for this issue.
xplog70.dll is corrupt, you need to check if you have any SQL Server running on same file version and same production
edition. If xplog70.dll is corrupt, you can copy it from the new server where agent is running fine to your problematic server.
Native client not installed properly. If you try applying any latest Service Pack or Cumulative Update then check if the SQL Server Agent can start, if that also doesn’t solve issue then try to reinstalling SQL Server Native client from SQL Server setup
    files.
There is a similar issue about error 17750, you can review the following article.
    http://blogs.lostincreativity.com/sqldba/sqlserver-error-17750-could-not-load-the-dll-xpstar90-dll/

  • Getting SQL Server Express Running

I'm trying to get SQL Server Express running on my home computer that runs Window 7 Professional.
So far, I have downloaded and installed SQL Server Express. The Windows Start list shows Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.
I've seen several references to SQL Server Management Studio Express and am ready to download and install that. The download site says "You must install .NET Framework 2.0 and MSXML 6.0 Parser before you install SSMSE."
I already have Visual Studio 2010 Professional installed. Does that satisfy the .NET Framework 2.0 requirement? If not, do I need to download .NET Framework 2.0?
Regarding the MSXML Parser, I clicked on MSXML 6.0 Parser and was taken to a site headed "Feature Pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - February 2007." Text there said "... a collection of standalone install packages that provide additional value
for SQL Server 2005." My question, then, is should I download and install MSXML 6.0 Parser?
    I'll appreciate any guidance.

Hi, it sounds like you installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Express engine only.  To get the client tools, SQL Server Management Studio, install SQLEXPRADV_X64_ENU.exe (or X86 if on a 32-bit box) from:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30438
This SQLEXPRADV package includes both the engine and client tools.  Since you're already installed engine, just select the client tools feature in the feature selection dialog and you should be good to go.  Once you install SSMS, launch it and
connect to your instance by using <machine name>\SQLEXPRESS where SQLEXPRESS is the default value used during setup for the instance name.

  • Error trying to install ICM 8.0 - "FAILED TO GET SQL SERVER VERSION."

Hello guys, i tried to install ICM 8.0 but when i click on Setup.exe appears this error:
"FAILED TO GET SQL SERVER VERSION. MAKE SURE SQL SERVER INSTALLED PROPERLLY
NO INSTANCE NAME FOUND.NO SCHEMA UPGRADES ATTEMPTED"
I try to check the SQL COnfiguration, about Named Pipes, but everything is allright. Someone knows what is it?
    Thank you very much.

You should be able to see the ICMSetup.log file somewhere - check TEMP. It seems to me that this is the first thing it does - tries to connect to the SQL database and ask for the version. Clearly it cannot. I assume you installed SQL OK, probably have the service running under a domain user created especially for the task, or the domain admin, and you are also logged in as the domain admin, and that SQL is running.
Check that log file for clues.
    Regards,
    Geoff

  • How to get Windows Server 2012 trial license key?

How to get Windows Server 2012 trial license key? I'm trying to install WinServer 2012 Trial on a VMWare Workstation 9. I'm asked for the product key during set up. If I ignore putting in the key (since I don't have one) The install fails stating no valid
key. I tried this with Oracle's Virtual Box and the same thing happens. I tried using Majic JellyBean to find the key, but that only works on pre-installed OS. A Technet article said to use aaaa-bbbbb-ccccc-ddddd etc. in the spaces. That doesn't work either.
Articles all over the web seem to have other people in the same boat. Please help :)

Download the trial version from here -
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/server-cloud/evaluate/trial-software.aspx  It does not require a key.  If the software is asking for a key, it is not the trial copy.  Where did you get your copy?

  • How to find sql server backup was taken under compression mode

    Hello,
How to find SQL server backup was taken under compression mode ? I have disabled the Compress Mode backup setting but I want to make sure the backup is taken without compression.
Is there a script for that?
    Thanks
    JK

I have disabled the Compress Mode backup
That is only a default setting, in backup command you can always overwrite it to a different value.
