How to get unused space in SQL SERVER in OS level
Hi ,
We have ECC 6.0 system on Windows 2003 and SQL SERVER 2005 database. There were hugh number of spools request deleted by us.
Now DB02 is showing this :
Number of files 5
Total Size [MB] 402,900
Allocated [MB] 302,727
Free [MB] 100,173
We want 100GB free space in OS level that is inside the SQL server .The affected table was TST03 .
Is there any procedure / document to recover this space in OS level ?
Thanks
Mukul
Hi dudes!
I agree with Mushtaq_M that you can shrink your files, and also that this is not recommended; some DBAs become very nervous if they see some tens of Gb allocated by the database but free and which space cannot be returned to the file system.
Of course, you can shrink your database files. It is explained in note *363018* (points D and E). In fact, under certain circumstances it could be necessary to shrink your transaction log, as per note *625546* and note *421644*.
However, regarding your particular question, I would say that it could have a 'bad' effect: you would waste your resources or even hinder the performance during the time it takes the database shrinking and you wouldn't get a performance improvement in return. In fact, sooner or later your database will probably grow up to its current size or even more. Even more, as a rule of a thumb, it is recommended that each datafile has at least around 10-15% of free space.
At last, let me point out that you should not rely on SQL Server's "autogrow" function: this is recommended just to prevent the emergency situation that the database stops working because there is no free space left at all, but you are recommended to monitor and manually increase the datafiles whenever necessary.
You can also refer to the SAP Help Portal for further help on the +MS SQL Server DB administration in CCMS+ as well as on the +Database Management Tools+. You should always check the +Microsoft SQL Server 2005 *Books Online (BOL)*+

How to get password for the Sql server 2008 r2
Always when a user forgets a SA password , Blogs suggest to get into the server through windows Authentication having SysAdmin , and change the password for user SA.
Sir,
Is there any other methods to retrieve or see the password what we assigned before.
Example: If SA Password is assigned as Test
I have to get Test
, Instead of changing password.
Thanks in Advance.
Hello,
Dont you think it would create a Havoc if one could specifically see other admins password.Apply Gumption, you wont use SQL server if that feature is there. You cannot obtain password for other users.
If user forgets it change it ,there is no restriction on changing.

How can get a database like ****.SQL file for test in sqlplus in oracle8i
How can get a database like ****.SQL file for test in sqlplus in oracle8i,I am a beginner, thanks
I'll give it a guess as to what it is you want but I'm afraid you'll have to give some more information to go on. I appreciate it's difficult for people who are beginners or who don't have English as their first language.
Are you trying to run a SQL file? From SQL*plus you can do either of these:
SQL> start my_file
or
SQL> @my_file
N.B.: if th efile has a .sql extension you don't need to include it, but you do for any other file extension e.g.
SQL> @myfile.run

How to change Rendering Extension in sql server Reporting Services based on User Permissions
Hi,
I want to provide SQL server reporting services rendering extension based on user Access.
For Example
User1 can have options of Rendering to EXCEL and PDF
User2 can have a option of CSV
i read one article which is useful for report basis rendering extension changes. but i want to give user basis rendering options.
http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/3569/how-to-change-rendering-extensions-in-sql-server-reporting-services/?utm_source=dailynewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_content=headline&utm_campaign=20150406
Thanks in advance.
GVRSPK VENIYou can use a data driven subscription for that
Maintain a table with rendering extension information for various users ie their AD user login. Then setup a data driven subscription based on table values
You will be creating a dataset with query for retrieving userid as well as rendering extensions and then just set the value as Get value from database for render Format and To properties
For more details refer

How to open sdf files in SQL server 2012?
How to open sdf files in SQL server 2012?
I couldn’t figure out how to open the sdf files in SQL server 2012
Thank you
Best
JamalI don't think it's hard if understood the question properly you can try this I do it most of the time and this might be the solution for you, sometimes minor simple click is a life saver:)
1.
Open SQL Server Management Studio, or if it's running select File -> Connect Object Explorer... and click the
connect drop down arrow
2.
In the Connect to Server dialog you will see Database Enghine, Analaysis Servie on so on and you go head change Server type to
SQL Server Compact Edition
3.
From the Database file drop-down as shown below click the drop down arrow and select <
Browse for more...>
4.
And you will see C:\, D:\, G:\
drive and so on and open, your SDF file where it is located
I hope this has been informative for you and good luck

Please tell how to store jpeg images in SQL Server using NI Database Connectivity Toolset.
http://www.w3schools.com/sql/sql_datatypes.asp
You setup a field as BLOB and store the binary of the picture there. Depending on the database it can be called differently as you can see in the link, in SQL server there's even a Image datatype.
