HOW to handle JCO connection failure

if i have a JCO connection.....to process the RFC function...
when i call the function...the job leave to R3 to do the rest...
yet ..the connection broken..at this time..
the is no result return..and consequency receive the
RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION exception...
how do i handle this kind of situation....
what should R3 SHOULD DO..
let's say i have a jco connection
the connection broken during processing...how do i return the error message to the java program
the error include....RFC_SYSTEM_FAILURE ,RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION

Yzme,
You have already got answers how to catch this exception.
Next processing depends on application-specific nature of RFC: whether or not call is idempotent, in simple words -- submitting same request doesn't hurt.
This comes from the fact that network failure may occurs when transferring request (hence no background processing performed) or when returning response (hence function already executed).
For idempotent calls there is also an option for automatic re-tries finite number of times. For non-idempotent calls the only option is to display error to user in friendly format.
An idempotent call is a call that can be executed more than once on the server without undesirable side effects. Take for example Create / Read / Update / Delete operations. Obviously, read is idempotent while it doesn't alter data at all. You may treat Delete as idempotent up to certain extent -- just handle "record not exists" gracefully. Create and Update are not good candidates -- re-submitting same request typically leads to serious problems like duplicate entries or data inconsistency.

  • How to handle multiple connection or user with l2cap

    hi friends,
    I need your help please a.s.a.p
    how to handle multiple connection with l2cap protocol in j2me
    sorry,
    I'm a new programmer in j2me
    thanks all...

    Please stick with the original thread http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5200413&tstart=0
    Cross-posting is very rude, and JSch has nothing to do with JSSE, directly. It is an SSH2 API. It does (AFAIK) use some parts of JSSE, but those parts are definately not your problem.
    You already have answers in the other thread.

  • How to handle multiple connection through JCO

    Hello JCo Experts,
    My requirement is as follows:
    > I need to create a Web Dynpro Java Application
    > I have multiple users (different Users on SAP System).
    > I need to execute BAPI/Module Functions through these multiple users.
    Example:
    Users: A and B
    User A has logged in from a remote location
    User B has logged in from a another remote location
    both users have logged in through SAP system Login Ids
    Two JCo Connections should be created and all the request from User A must use Connection A and request from B must use Connection B.
    > The connection should be created at first time when user login first time.
    How can I handle this scenario through JCo or other way. I have multiple BAPI/ModuelFunction which I need to execute but with User specific.
    waiting for positive response.

  • How to Alert RFC connection failure via message mapping? Kindly Help!

    Hi Experts,
        I have a JMS - XI - RFC scenario.
    JMS receives the Rosattenet PIP contents and sends it to RFC function module in remote SAP R/3 system.
       I have a requirement where I have to monitor RFC connection failure because of the remote R/3 system being down. I have to send a email alert where the subject contains the PIP number to understand for which PIP the connection failed.
      The PIP number exists in the PIP content at the interface.
      If I use the Alert configuration in the runtime workbench for monitoring then I cannot dynamically pass the PIP number.
      Only way I think of triggering alert is in the message mapping via a Java UDF.
      But I am not sure how can I do this? How do I check in the UDF if RFC connection has failed? Is this the correct approach?
      How to acheive my requirement? Note that my email subject content is dynamic bacause if PIP number.
    Please help!
    Thanks
    Gopal

    Hi Gopal,
    what version/sps of XI are u running?
    The easiest way to do what u want inside a UDF is to
    1. use JCo to try estabilish a connection to the remote SAP System
    2. if that fails, use JavaMail to send an email message
    Let your UDF work on the PIP number, accepting it as input, and (maybe) returning it as output if everything goes ok. Otherwise break the mapping execution as described by Michal in one of his last weblog (using Dynamic Configuration).
    Note that the above method doesn't guarantee that the message will be actually delivered, as some seconds could last between your check and the real RFC delivery operated by the Adapter Engine...
    I am evaluating a way to do the same with Alert Framework. I will let you know the result!
    Cheers,
    Alex

  • How to handle a Connection Timeout

    Hi Everybody,
    My situation is as follows: I have a web application, some sort of content management system. I'm using MySQL to store information. The application is obtaining Connection objects via a Connection Pool. I'm runngin Sun Java Application Server 8 Update 1 and MySQL 4.1.9 on a Windows 2003 Server machine.
    After 8 hours of inactivity, the system it's raising an exception. Searching the log, I've found the cause, an SQL Exception with a "recv failed" error. Google said that MySQL shuts the idle connections after 8 hours, and also found a code to correctly handling that disconnection. The thing is that the Application Server is handling the connection pool to physically connect with the database, I'm not dealing with connection setup. I've tried setting autoReconnect and autoReconnectForPools properties (in the management console) without success.
    Anyone has any idea to correct this?
    Thanks in advance for your time.
    Best regards
    Antonio Varela.

    You could execute a query from time to time, but you can't control which connection is being used. For example, you could be accessing the same connection all the time, and in the end only one functioning connection would remain in the pool.
    As said in another thread,
    The problem (in detail) is how the MySQL JDBC driver operates. The physical connection to the database can fail, but the Connection.isClosed() method will still return false.
    So, there seems to be some problem with the MySQL driver.
    But even in this case, the "connection validation" options should work on the application server, which they just don't. I am inclined to blame this problem on the connection pool implementation.
    The only "solution" I found so far was to set larger connection timeouts on the MySQL server:
    interactive_timeout = 2764800
    wait_timeout = 2764800

  • How to Remove JCO Connection Config?

    I have a NW2004s system that will not start. The Message Server and IGS Watchdog are running, but the Dispatcher is in a yellow state.
    The last thing that was done on the server before it was restarted was 2 JCO connections were added. Now the system will not start and I do not know how to remove the JCO connections.
    I cannot find relevant configuration within the Config Tool or the Offline Configuration Editor. I am unable to access the Visual Administrator.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.
    Paul

    Hi,
    If you created JCO connection, then you can remove as follows
    1>go to Portal URL(Ex:http://102.26.88.65:50100/irj/portal)
    2>Go to content administration ->webdynpro-> Maintain JCo connections ->Remove what ever your JCo conn created.
    or search for the JCO connections you created in search box left -->delete

  • How to handle JCO Exceptions at JCO (RFC) function call

    Hello Forum,
    I am implementing an JCO Server scenario.
    I use dynamic repositories like Example7.java from the JCO documentation.
    Example7 throws an JCO.AbapException if anything went wrong, e.g. the function is not implemented.
    How to react on this AbapException?
    The examples in SAP Help documentation only catch
    SYSTEM_FAILURE and COMMUNICATION_FAILURE.
    All other RFC modules I have seen which declare the function modules to be used by dynamic JCO repositories (like Example7.java) do not define any other Exception parameters.
    But these two are only thrown and caught when something with communication went completely wrong, e.g. RFC not found.
    But when RFC can be reached and the JCO Server is executing the Java method, an AbapException could be thrown on error. How to react on this?
    In my implementation based on the examples I always get a ABAP dump. The dump says:
    Exception named  without message text. Why that name?
    How to handle this type of exception in order to avoid the dump?
    Can anyone post an example please?
    Thanks,
    Carsten

    Hi Micky,
    thanks for your quick response.
    If so, to throw JCO.AbapException on JCO Server side is not correct?
    What I do is throwing the JCO.AbapException (like in the JCO Example 7).
    At the RFC call in APAB I handle both exceptions SYSTEM_FAILURE and COMMUNICATION_FAILURE like
    CALL FUNCTION 'MY_JCO_FUNCTION_MODULE'
        DESTINATION JCO_DEST
        <...>
        EXCEPTIONS
          SYSTEM_FAILURE        = 1  MESSAGE RFC_MESS
          COMMUNICATION_FAILURE = 2  MESSAGE RFC_MESS.
    This works as far something with RFC is wrong, e.g. Server can not find the function or Server not reachable.
    But the AbapException thrown by the JCO Server (Java) is not handled that way. Why?
    Sorry if this is the wrong forum but I tried posting in Netweaver integration and got no answer for 1 week and because it's ABAP related I thought the topic suites here.

  • How to handle network connection error to bussiness service on OSB

    Hello everyone.
    Thank for your attentions. I need some help for error handling in OSB 11g. I have a proxy service that route to a business service to check profile status. I'm using java client to consume proxy service and return result to customers. The problem that I'm face to is the handling network connection fail.
    I want to get some message (or any useful information) from proxy service to report that connection to Business service is unavailable when that connection fail. I tried to add Error Handling but I cannot found that action from option list.
    Can you review my proxy service and tell me some resolutions?

    you could add an error handler on the route-action in your proxy service.
    in there you could investigate the $fault variable and for example check which BEA-... errorcode comes back.
    then you can decide what to reply back..for example create your own soap-fault and set your own messages.
    now the default $fault generated by the osb itself will get returned
    http://www.xenta.nl/blog/2010/07/17/oracle-service-bus-11g-handling-soap-faults/
    maybe that one helps you a bit

  • How to change JCO Connection in a WD project?

    Hi to all,
    I want to deploy my WD projects to another J2EE server, but I have to change the JCO connection (modeldata and metadata) in my WD projects, otherwise I can't deploy. Where can I re-assign the new jco connection?
    thank you very much,

    hi Antonio,
    you have to make two changes:
    1) double-click on the generated adaptive-rfc-class below "Models / <Name> / Model classes" and change the property "modelInstance_defaultLogicalSystem" in the Properties-Editor for the modeldata-connection
    2)double-click on the dictionary that was generated for your adaptive-rfc-call below Dictionaries and change the "Logical System Name" in the Properties-Editor for your Metadata-Connection

    this is very generic error, more details must be known to solve the issue, if you are having this problem with your RFC communication channel, goto communicatin channel monitoring in RWB and there you would have complete details of why this error is occuring, do post back with those details to have clear understanding of the problem.
    Moreover try creating an ABAP connection to R/3 system to which connection is being made and check if you are able to access the system altogether or not, for this follow the following step:
    login to your PI server from SAP GUI with user PISUPER
    got t-code SM59
    Create destination with type: 3
    provide ip address of your R/3 system in target host and instance number in respective field
    save and execute "Connection test"
    this will let you know if you are altogether able to access the R/3 system for PI server.

  • How to handle JCO.AbapException on JCO call in ABAP

    Hello Forum,
    I am implementing an JCO Server scenario.
    I use dynamic repositories like Example7.java from the JCO documentation.
    Example7 throws an JCO.AbapException if anything went wrong, e.g. the function is not implemented. My coding is like:
         protected void handleRequest(JCO.Function function) throws AbapException {
              try {
                // Process incoming requests
              } catch (Exception e) {
                log.error(this.getProgID() + ": error handling request " + function.getName(), e);
                throw new AbapException(function.getName(), e.getMessage());
    How to react on this AbapException?
    The examples in SAP Help documentation only catch
    SYSTEM_FAILURE and COMMUNICATION_FAILURE.
    I implemented the JCO call as well like following.
    CALL FUNCTION 'MY_JCO_FUNCTION_MODULE'
        DESTINATION JCO_DEST
        <...>
        EXCEPTIONS
          SYSTEM_FAILURE        = 1  MESSAGE RFC_MESS
          COMMUNICATION_FAILURE = 2  MESSAGE RFC_MESS.
    But these two are only thrown and caught when something with communication went completely wrong, e.g. RFC not found.
    When the exception in the JCO server occured and JCO.AbapException was thrown I always get an ABAP short dump, i.e. the exception was not handled.
    Additionaly, the exception is named like the JCO function called and the message text which was submitted to JCO.AbapException is not displayed. I think that means that the AbapException was not recognized at all?
    The JCO API doc says:
    Creates an exception with the specified key. This constructor is normally used in the server's handleRequest() methods to throw an exception which is part of the function interface definition. In such a case the SAP system will not raise a system exception. If however the specified key is not a defined exception for the currently processed function module the SAP will raise a system exception.
    But whether I define an exception in the function interface definition named like the module (thererfor new AbapException(function.getName(), <...>)) or not, it always dumps. I understand the exception that a system exception is raised when the exception is not defined? But this is not been handled with above ABAP code as well.
    What is wrong here? Could anyone post an example please how the exception has to be handled?
    Please note that I do not define static repositories but have the remote function defined on in the ABAP server to be used by dynamic repository (like the STFC_CONNECTION test rfc). Am I right that the exception should be defined in that RFC remote definition?
    Thanks,
    Carsten

    Dear everybody,
    Finally I solved this old problem
    I am a novice in JCO and played a little with the problem and found an old reference to the difference between J2EEAbapException and AbapException classes. I modified my program and it works! ABAP caller gets the correct exception, not system_failure! The details:
    1. modify beanname.java source
         import com.sap.mw.jco.JCO;
         import com.sap.mw.jco.JCO.J2EEAbapException;
         public interface ... extends EJBObject {
        public void processFunction(JCO.Function function) throws RemoteException, J2EEAbapException;
    2. modify beannamebean.java source
        import com.sap.mw.jco.JCO.J2EEAbapException;
         public void processFunction(JCO.Function function) throws J2EEAbapException {
         throw new JCO.J2EEAbapException("NODATA");
    3. modify beannamelocal.java source
          import com.sap.mw.jco.JCO;
         import com.sap.mw.jco.JCO.J2EEAbapException;
              public void processFunction(JCO.Function function) throws J2EEAbapException;
    I hope it helps for somebody else too!

  • Flash 8 AS2 How to trap a connection failure?

    I am building a Flash application which uses Flash Remoting and CFC's to connect clients to CF8 data sources on an in-house server (no Web involved!). I have a number of screens working fine but I'm now working to tighten up the code, in particular the area of error detection. The one area I can't seem to conquer is detecting if the server connection is down. All I get (when testing) is the "Error opening URL..." message in the output window. How can I trap this in the code?

    I change the thin driver to oci driver ,jdbc:oracle:oci:@orcl ,then fix the problem.
