How to hanlde SOAP with gzip

Hello,
For a client we have to implement (de)compression into (SOAP) Web Services.
We receive/send SOAP messages with compressed data (some 2MB, which is uncompressed some 75MB). The (de)compression needs to be done with gzip.
What is the Oracle solution for handling this type of functionality?

Just trying to understand the assignment objective:
You have a SOAP message or some web-service that replies with SOAP messages?
You have been asked to write a JSP that (queries this web-service and) retrieves the SOAP encoded data and transform it into XHTML (by whatever method you want) using XSLT?
Is this the situation?
If it is you will need to get the DTD or XSD of the SOAP message you will be displaying. This will tell you what elements to expect, what attributes they have and their sequencing.
Then your problem is just the XSL style sheet. Here is a link if you do not kow much about XSL:

To perform the transform you can either use JSTL tags or you can use a Bean... I would suggest the JSTL tags.

How to use soap with IDAP

The documentation states that the namespace of the IDAP envelope
can be changed from oracle specific to 'soap' It also states that
this is only possible with iAS9i? Does this mean I cannot use
soap as the envelope when running on anything other then iAS
(e.g. Bea WLS, JBoss etc...) ?

Hi,
The servlet currently shipped with 9i understands only IDAP
messages. In 9.0.1.2 patch release, the servlet has been changed
to understand SOAP envelope as well. This change is also
available with iASv2.
So when 9.0.1.2 is available you can use the AQ servlet and
deploy it with any Servlet 2.x compatible engine (not necessarily
iAS).

How to create Inbound SOAP With Attachments

Hi All,
Does someone know how to create an Inbound SOAP Message (from SAP XI to a Business System) with attachments?
We get an Idoc from a SAP R/3 system and transform this Idoc to an other XML format messages, but we want this message as an attachment and not as the payload in the SOAP Envelope.
We tried the PayloadSwapBean module, but we don't have an attachment to swap with, but maybe we used the wrong paramaters.

Our scenario is that we send an IDoc (ORDERS05) from our R/3-backend-system to XI (3.0/SP15). In an integration process (A/S-bridge) we transform this IDoc to an UBL-Order XML-message, and we want to send this XML-message as an attachment to a (synchronous) SOAP-call to a vendor. Like I said, despite the SAPHelp-content, we don't get this working. Whatever we try, the UBL-Ordermessage is contained in the SOAP-body.
What makes it even more strange, is that XI itself is based on the SOAP-with-attachments-standard...
So, any help is much appreciated!

How can I get JAXM SOAP with Attachement parts?

I received a SOAP with attachment message.
Attached data is XML document("text/xml" type).
But when I try to get a attachment part by using below source code, I got a NullPointerException.
Iterator it = message.getAttachments();
AttachmentPart attachment = (AttachmentPart)it.next();
StreamSource content = (StreamSource)attachment.getContent(); <=content is not Null.
InputStream inputstream = content.getInputStream(); <= inputstream is Null.
StreamSource object is OK, but it doesn't return InputStream object.
Does anyone know what the problem is?

Hi,
The inbound processing encountered a permanent error and the queue therefore stopped.
The error message "Permanent error in BPE inbound processing" may be caused by the following:
- At the start or when you process a process instance, the inbound processing encounters an exception that was not handled. This exception is triggered, for example, by a transformation step, a synchronous send step or a control step but it was not caught in an exception handler branch. If the exception that was not handled occurs in the first transaction of the started process instance, the system does not write the process instance to the database but it sets the queue that has this error message to the error status.
Refer to the help in Note 1082099
- The inbound processing triggers this error if the correlation evaluation shows that a message should be delivered to a process instance that has the status "error". Since delivery to process instances that contain errors is not permitted, the queue is stopped.
Use the simulation of the message delivery in the detail view of the relevant queue LUW to determine the relevant process instance for the affected message and use transaction SXMB_MONI_BPE "Continue Process Following Error" (or transaction SWF_XI_SWPR) to continue. If you cannot continue the process instance, check whether you can logically delete the instance. In this case, use the method that is described in Note 807906 to logically delete a process instance.
Check whether your system contains other process instances that have errors in order to detect similar problems. Use transaction SXMB_MONI_BPE "Continue Process Following Error" or transaction SWF_XI_SWPR.
Use the report RSWF_CRL_MAINTAIN to check all of the correlation instances in question or the relevant process instances that you can reach using "Display Work Item".
- Messages that cannot be delivered because no correlation instance can be found may lead to the error that is mentioned here. Check whether the causes that are outlined in Note 1094028 affect your case.

I need to implement a synchronous scenario where an R/3 system sends data via RFC to an external system that expects it in the format of soap with attachment. Then the external system responds with soap message without attachment.
My main concern is how to create a soap attachment from payload that I get from the RFC sender adapter.
I would appreciate any your suggestion how to implement this scenario. If possible, I would prefer to avoid using java modules and BPM, since I am not very skilled with them.

well i think your darkest fears just came true ... the only option here is to write a module to create the attachments for you. The trick is once the module create the attachment, you need to check the option keep attachments in the SOAP receiver CC.

Binary Attachments - MTOM vs. SOAP with Attachments

Hello everybody,
i am kind of stuck by implementing a soap to proxy scenario! I wanted to use MTOM to transfer the messages together with the attachments, but until now i couldn't find out if this is possible at all using the ws-adapter with backend proxy (version 701)!
I have seen this already:

unfortunately im not a abap coder, but i can see using attachments in proxys should work!

Using soap adapter with enabled "keep Attachments" option, the MTOM-Attachment is getting processed, but on proxy side, using soap adapter (keeping attachments) to call proxy, it crashes on the backend side (version 701).
I tried to make a webservice out of the proxy in soamanager, but i didn't get this working, as i have never done this. Also i didn't find an option for mtom in soamanager. I am also wondering why mtom is only supported in ws-adapter 7.10 but not in 7.11, why is this? And is it possible to use soap-adapter on OB-side and WS-Adapter on IB-side, or can i only use ws-adapter for direct communication?
Lot's of questions i am facing ;-)...

How to install Soap on the (Apache) Oracle HTTP Server

Hi,
Does anyone know how to install SOAP on the Oracle HTTP Server? I downloaded a soap version (it seems that the standard version comes without SOAP) from the xml.apache.org site and followed the installation instructions as far as I could (only Tomcat is described). However, no 'soaping'!!! Maybe I'm overlooking something because I cannot imagine that it should be difficult.

Hans, the SOAP implementation is part of OC4J. You get it out of the box. Check out how to use the out-of-the-box implementation in the tutorials on Web services with Oracle9i JDeveloper at:

These tutorials/samples use the implementation of SOAP/WSDL that Oracle calls J2EE Web Services and this is the long term direction of Oracle's Web services implementation. This implementation is what Oracle will be evolving to Sun's Java Web Services Developer Pack as it finalizes into J2EE 1.4.
If you want to use Oracle/Apache SOAP, this too is included in OC4J but its support is being deprecated in future releases of Oracle9iAS in favour of the J2EE Web Services implementation. To find it, check out the OC4J/soap/webapps/ directory for the soap.ear file (it is in a slightly different spot if you are using the full Oracle9iAS R2 but still within the soap directory structure. Simply add <application name="soap" path="../../../soap/webapps/soap.ear" auto-start="true"/> to your OC4J server.xml and <web-app application="soap" name="soap" root="/soap" /> to your OC4J http-web-site.xml, re-start and away you go.
Finally, just to be sure, SOAP support in Oracle9iAS did not appear until 1.0.2.2.x and higher. If using 1.0.2.1 or less, you are correct, there is no SOAP support.

InvalidSecurity Exception in WS and SOAP with Attachment

I created a EJB based webservice with the following signature:

This Method is exposed as webservice, which is configured as SOAP with Attachment. 
All security or authentication settings are disabled by intention. 
The input param arg1 should be a binary file.
 
When I call this webservice I always get the following response:

My guess is, that the WAS 7.00 SP11 is magically configured for applying WS-Security to every webservice. 
 
The Security Profile settings for Inbound / Outbound - Paramters is "None" in Visual Admin Webservice Security. 
 
How can I get rid of this Exception and make the webservice work?

Web Service with attachments (SOAP with attachments) without PI

Hi,
Is it possible to send across file(say PDF) using ABAP web services. I know it can be done with Java using SOAP with attachments. Is something similar available for ABAP ? since if we transfer raw binary data as type string / xstring it may have a performance impact.
I could not see any option for attachments when using web service wizard from SE37 / soamanager
Note I am not using PI, this Web service would be consumed by a 3rd party tool. There is very little material available on transferring files using web service with SOAP attachments.

Hi thanks for your input, but did you have to encode your binary data stream in say Base64 / utf-8 ? Also if you are transferring files in bulk(say 10 -100 files) how does your web service indicate end of one file or what is the best way so as to avoid performance problems.

How to create soap envelope structure

I am working on a RFC to webservice sync scenario.Here I am getting response from webservice in soap envelope form which is not matching with my wsdl response structure. I have tried to create the envelope structure manually but i dint get success. Can any body guide me how to over come with it.
(I have already checked 'Do not create soap envelop' in receiver soap addapter).

I am wrking on PI 7.0. I dnt want soap envelope in payload so I have already checked the 'Do not create response' button still in response message I am getting the soap envelope.
I can use java or xslt but the the structure is not able to read the soap envelope. To read it I need to create same data structure which matches with the soap envelope.

SOAP with Attachment Support in Web AS Java

I want to write an extension to an existing Java application running on Web AS to take a PDF (which is a binary object in the context) and submit it using a Web Service call to a Web Service running on a WebSphere App Server. My idea is to use SOAP with attachments to do this. I know how to create a simple Web Service call with the NWDS, but I am not so sure about a Web Service call with an attachment.
1) Is SOAP with attachments supported in Web Java/NWDS?
2) Does it require a specific Web AS 6.40 SP Stack?
3) Has anyone used this before? Is there anything I need to consider (e.g. encoding of the attachment)?
4) Is there a maximum file size for the attachment?
You help is appreciated. And if I get it running I can show it at TechEd

I found what causes the problem.
I use resource bundle to handle i18n and one of bundle is myapp_zh.properties for Chinese locale. In browser I add Chinese [zh] in Language Preference then the web page should display Chinese character.
What puzzles me is that encoding of the page with Chinese characters is Chinese Simplified (GB2312) rather than UTF-8. Tomcat correctly sets page Encoding to UTF-8 since I specify <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8" %> in each JSP file. Why Web AS ignores this and returns Chinese character in GB2312?
