How to have continouse performance testing during development phase?

I understand that for corporate projects there are always requirements like roughy how long it can take for certain process.
Is there any rough guideline as how much time certain process will take?
And is there anyway i can have something like JMeter that will do constant monitor of the performance as i start development?
Can go down to method level, but should also be able to show total time taken for a certain module or action etc.
I think it is somthing like continuous integration like cruise control..but is more for performance continouse evaluation..
Any advice anyone

Just a thought: how useful would continuous performance testing be? First off, I wouldn't have the main build include performance tests. What if the build fails on performance? It isn't necessarily something you'll fix quickly, so you could be stuck with a broken build for quite some time, which means either your devs won't be committing code, or they'll be comitting code on a broken build which kind-of negates the point of CI. So you'd have a nightly build for performance, or something. Then what? Someone comes in in the morning and sees the performance build failed, and fixes it? Hmmm, maybe your corporate culture is different, but we've got a nightly metrics build that sits broken for weeks on end before someone looks at it. As long as the master builds are OK, nobody cares. Given that performance problems might well take several weeks of dedicated time to fix, I reckon they're far more likely to be fixed as a result of failing acceptance tests, rather than the CI environment reporting them
Just my opinions, of course

  • Blocking Objects during development phase

    Dear All,
I would like to block objects during the development phase.
I mean if for example an user is currently modifying one specific table and a second user wants to do some modification on the same table (object) the second developer will be notified that is not possible because the table is being used.
Is this something that I can control / manage from the authorization perspective? How could I do that?
    I will appreciate any idea.
    Thanks,
    FedeX

    Hi,
as it was mentioned two users can't modify one object at same time. But I guess your question is little bit different. All modified objects (ignore local objects) are assigned to a transport after first change until the transport is released. After that they can be assigned to next transport after new change. When second user wants to change object already assigned to transport then he can't assign it to another transport. He needs to create a subtask which is assigned to his user account. After that he will be able to modify same object. So if you remove authorizations to create sub task then it will block them. Don't forget to remove authorization to change task assignment to another user.

  • How to catch possible bind variable performance impact during development?

Since producing load is a problem on development environment and the technics provided with Oracle can capture a parsing problem caused by a bind variable problem only after execution we are looking for pro-active solution like 10g compile time warnings stuff.
Using binds can have impact on indexed skewed data columns and paritioned tables, so lets just think about a typical oltp environment with always same access path results for similar queries using bind variables.
Using v$ views or even better dba_hist after 10g or 10046 trace are considered as re-active approaches since they can only be examined on a pre-production loaded environment.
Is there any tool or approach you are using or may suggest?
    Thank you, best regards.
    Tonguc

    Are you using PL/SQL only?
If so, I'd look at all the EXECUTE IMMEDIATE's and DBMS_SQL calls throughout the code and determine one by one if they pose a threat. They should be rare, so a simple search against the USER_SOURCE could be sufficient.
Other programming languages will have different statements to watch out for.
I am not aware of any tool that does this for you.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Rob.

    Hi SCRana,
Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
According to your description, you mean that you want to set the breakpoint and debug the web performance test during using the recorder to record this web performance test, am I right?
As far as I know that there have no this feature of breakpoint/debugger in web performance test.
Generally, we set the breakpoint and debug this coded web performance test after we finished this web performance recording.
So if you still want to this feature, I suggest you could submit this feature request:
    http://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/121579-visual-studio.
The Visual Studio product team is listening to user voice there. You can send your idea there and people can vote. If you submit this suggestion, I hope you could post that link here, I will help you vote it.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • RMS performance testing using HP Loadrunner

    Hi,
We are currently planning on how to do our performance testing of Oracle Retail. We are planning to use HP Loadrunner and use different virtual users for Java, GUI, webservices and database requests. Have anyone here done performance testing in RMS using HP Loadrunner and what kind of setup did you use?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Gustav

    Hi Gustav
How is your performance testing of Oracle Retail ? Did you get good results ?
I need to start a RMS/RPM performance testing project and I would like to know how to implement an appropriated structure . Any informations about servers , protocols , tools used to simulate a real production environment would be very appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Monitoring WebLogic During Performance Test

I am running performance tests on our WebLogic Server and would like to be able
to pull the Thread Queue Length, Thread Queue Throughput and Java Heap % statistics
that are displayed in the WebLogic Console and put them in a text file every so
often during the test. This way I can use those statistics with others I collect.
I assume that if the console is able to display this information that it must
be available. Does anyone know how I could do this?
    Thanks In Advance

  • LGWR strange behaviour during the performance test!

    Hi,
We are doing performance test on our new schema and during the test we see that this LGWR database process is always the highest resource taking process during the test.
I see that the Commit activity appears continiously on Grid Controller toghegher with System I/O.
I checked the Redo Logs and we have them in 5 groups each 200MB.
Any idea about what causes this? I guess the application is doing one commit after each statement, or?
Any comment about how can we improve this?
I wanted to attach the screenshot from the Grid Controller but it seems we can't do that on this Forum!
Thanks in advance for the help!

  • How to test and develop the HTML/Backbone custom content viewer on IPad?

    Hi
I have been tasked with developing and amending the HTML/Backbone custom content viewer as nicely detailed and explained by Derek Lu here:
    https://www.adobe.com/devnet/digitalpublishingsuite/articles/html-default-library.html#
I can see that by removing the reference to libs/AdobeLibraryAPI.js in Index.html i am able to "test" on the desktop.
    <!--
        The DPS library/store API.
The include below should be commented out when testing on the desktop.
    <script src="libs/AdobeLibraryAPI.js"></script>-->
and that data is bought in via the fulfilment XML feed and the parse method is called on Librarycollection.
I have made the changes to hook up the viewer to bring in some folios that we are developing.
However, although this provides the ability to test and develop on the desktop in one form since we are using JS and Backbone, there are various checks within the provided code to see if ADOBE.isAPIAvailable.
If it is, then the behaviour is different than on the desktop, so once the viewer is packaged up and put on the IPad there is disparity between what you were able to check and test on the desktop version against what is shown on the IPad.
The question therefore is... is there a quick way to develop and test on the Ipad ... it doesnt seem like a viable option to develop blindly on the desktop and then package up the content viewer within Adobe DPS to check how those changes behave on the IPad?
To re-iterate the viewer is to make use of backbone / js example to provide greater functionality and options for customisation.
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Dave

Thankyou for taking the time to respond and for providing such detailed articles on adobe dps development, it is much appreciated.
I had completely missed that article and was struggling to find anything useful from googling!

  • How to get connect with Apple when you have problem in test device limits?

I have reached my test device limit in August. I have popular app that is very sensitive of being tested super carefully (navigation app for the blind, testers from 20+ countries), so 100 device limit is easily reached. Basically, I can't ship any new versions due to fact that I can't guarantee safety of my users.
I sent first request how to handle this to Apple in August. Since then I have sent at least 3 new requests. 2 times some person has responded suggesting adding 10 new devices or asking me to delete unneeded away and then list gets reseted after 7 days. I answered "yes please do that" and cleaned the list. Still after several months, I have situation that my device list shows "100 of 100 available devices have been registered." and adding new devices is disabled.
I had read that this list can be reseted when I renew my dev membership. I did that one month in advance to see if it helps. It didn't and even when old one expired, it didn't help. Maybe I have missed some step, but for that reason I have tried to reach Apple Support. My two latest contacts to Membeship support has this same information about my problem (of problems getting support) and also short description about original problem.
Have any of you had same kind of problem with Membership Support? When I have contacted Developer support, I have got excellent service.
How should I continue? Start trying to make phone calls instead of using official contact forms?

Your problem _is_ the device limit...you repeated your issue, so I'll repeat the quote from Apple:
Although you may remove a device from your account, it will continue to count against your 100 device limit.
Please confirm you understand the process now, thanks.

  • I have enrolled for the apple developer program but apparently have the same account name in iBooks. I need to change the iBooks account but don't know how. Do I change my apple id? Will this cause me problems with iTunes etc etc?

I have enrolled for the apple developer program but apparently already have an account with iBooks, cant have this it seems.how do I change my iBooks account, is this the apple id for my iPad and if I change this will it cause problems accessing iTunes etc?

I guess nobody knows if the crash that occured was legitimate or not?  Apple phone support could do nothing for me, so I guess I am left to drive 45 minutes to the nearest store.

  • Do you have an idea how to improve the performance ?

    Hi All,
    Greeting,
I'm doing SEM IP. Regarding the performance, do you have some thought about this ?
So I have planning report for project report . As we know, if we forecast against project, means the date itself is the life of the project itself.
It means it could be more than 10 years (forecast period) and 10 years (actual period). Currently I segregate between actual and forecast into different info cube .
But the performance of the planning report is slow now. Do you have an idea about this how to increase the performance. The performance I mentioned here is when we're going to the report (after putting in the value in the selection screen).
The other question, at this moment, I have a multiprovider than this multi provider consist 2 info cubes ( actual and forecast ). Than my aggregation is sitting on top of that multi-provider .
My question whether that's approach correct or not ? Or do we have to create 1 aggregate (only for forecast), than I have multi-provider consisting forecasting aggregation and actual cube .
than my query will sit on top of that multi-provider ?
    Which one is better ??
    Thanks a lot all,
    really need your help,

    Hi,
For the performance tuning, you can consider any of the following three methods,
    1. Indices
With an increasing number of data records in the InfoCube, not only the load but also the query performance can be reduced. This is attributed to the increasing demands on the system for maintaining indexes. The indexes that are created in the fact table for each dimension allow you to easily find and select the data.
    2. Partitioning
By using partitioning you can split up the whole dataset for an InfoCube into several, smaller, physically independent and redundancy-free units. Thanks to this separation, performance is increased when reporting, or also when deleting data from the InfoCube.
    3. Aggregates
Aggregates make it possible to access InfoCube data quickly in Reporting. Aggregates serve, in a similar way to database indexes, to improve performance.
    4. Compressing the Infocube
Infocube compression means aggregation of the data ignoring the request idu2019s. After compression, the system need not perform aggregation using the request ID every time you execute a query.
And I feel that as per your scenario, you need to do first compress the data based on user requirements and have only the required data in the infocube.
And for the approach regarding the Aggregation level design, choosing between the two approaches depends on the user requirements. For example,
If you have aggregation level created on top of multiprovider containing actual and forecast cube, in your report (created on top of aggregation level) you can view the key figure values present in both the cubes, which is not possible in the other approach.
So this approach is suited if your requirement is to view the records from both the cubes in your report (Comparing planning and actual values).
The second approach is used if your requirement is only to report on planning forecast cube.
    Hopes this solves your issue.
    Regards,
    Balajee

  • FORMS CRASHES (FRM-92101) ON AS 10.1.2.0.2 DURING LOAD PERFORMANCE TESTING

    Hiya
We have been doing Load Performance Testing using testing tool QALoad on our Forms 10g application. After about 56 virtual users(sessions) have logged-in into our application, if a new user tries to log-in into our application, the Forms crashes. As soon as we encounter the FRM-92101 error, no more new forms session are able to start.
The Load Testing software start up each process very quickly, about every 10 seconds.
The very first form that appears is the login form of our application. So before the login screen appears, we get FRM-92101 error message.
However, those users who have already logged-in into our application, they are able to carry on their tasks.
We are using Application Server 10g 10.1.2.0.2. I have checked the status on Application Server through Oracle Enterprise Manager Console. The OC4J Instance is up and running. Also, server's configuration is pretty good. It is running on 2 CPUs (AMD Opteron 3GHz) and has 32GB of memory. The memory used by those 56 sessions is less than 3GB.
The Applicatin Server is running on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 64bit Enterprise Edition.
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Cheers

    Hi Shekhawat
    In Windows Registry go to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\SubSystems
In the right hand side panel, you will find String Value as Windows. Now double click on it (Windows). In the pop up window you will see a string similar to the following one:
    %SystemRoot%\system32\csrss.exe ObjectDirectory=\Windows SharedSection=1024,20480,768 Windows=On SubSystemType=Windows ServerDll=basesrv,1 ServerDll=winsrv:UserServerDllInitialization,3 ServerDll=winsrv:ConServerDllInitialization,2 ProfileControl=Off MaxRequestThreads=16
Now if you read it carefully in the above string, you will find this parameter
    SharedSection=1024,20480,768
Here SharedSection specifies the system and desktop heaps using the following format:
    SharedSection=xxxx,yyyy,zzzz
    The default values are 1024,3072,512
All the values are in Kilobytes (KB)
xxxx = System-wide Heapsize. There is no need to modify this value.
yyyy = IO Desktop Heapsize. This is the heap for memory objects in the IO Desktop.
zzzz = Non-IO Desktop Heapsize. This is the heap for memory objects in the Non-IO Desktop.
On our server the values were as follows :
    1024,20480,768
We changed the size of Non-IO desktop heapsize from 768 to 5112. With 5112 KB we managed to test our application for upto 495 virtual users.
    Cheers
