I have a requirement to display a html page in the default browser installed on solaris 8 machine through a C program.

2 How to get the path of the default browser installed on solaris machine?

When Internet Explorer is installed on solaris as a default browser, it does not change
the user-prefs.dt file. But still when a HTML document is double clicked from the file manager of solaris CDE, it opens the HTML page in Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer copies a file called IE.dt in /etc/dt/appconfig/types/C. Just by copying a file how does the CDE file manager is able to open any html file in Internet Explorer??
Further the installation path of the Internet Explorer is not fixed as that of netscape. Our application need to display the HTML help in user's default browser.
On Windows-NT this can be implemented just by passing the html file as an argument to a win32 API ShellExecute(FindExecutable can also be used.
How this can be achieved on solaris??

How to change default browser to Firefox.

Hi,
I've upgraded our Solution Manager 7.0 to EHP1. Most of the applications that I use: sld, smd, user admin, etc. run fine in my default browser, Firefox.
But when I use a workcenter, RCA for example, and I open a webdynpro application which runs on a separate browser window, Internet Explorer is always used. How can I change this behaviour to choose the right default browser ?

Hi Joan,
You can set in your Firefox. Go to Tools->Options. Choose the Main tabs, then press button Check Now in system default and if your firefox not set as default browser you will be asked to change the default browser from IE to firefox. I've been using firefox as default browser to test workcenter service.

ok..i got something...want to know if this is the best method..
if one clicks on soa-infra, on the right pane, it shows all deployed composites (across partitions).
Here it is showing a small green circle just before the default version.
Is this the only way...actually i was expecting the same behavior when we select a particular partition.

How to set default browser for SM_CRM (like Firefox)?

Hey guys,
as in the company environment, IE version is too old for CRM Web UI - performance problem and it can't be changed soon, I'd like to ask how to use SM_CRM (with single sign-on) to open the browser window in Firefox?
Firefox is already set as default browser, but SM_CRM still opens IE.
Any suggestion is welcome!

Before OSX 10.10, it used to be possible to choose the default browser, not necessarily Safari. Is this no longer possible in Yosemite?

I need to know how to change default browser for my desktop icloud apps to open with.

I like to use the desktop icloud apps, but when i use them, they open with IE when my default browser I like to use is Chrome. Is there a way to make it open with Chrome when I open Calendar or iCloud from my desktop instead of IE?

I use SeaMonkey as my browser/email client. I like it exactly because it is integrated two-in-one. I want it to be my default browser. I have had it set up this way for years, except when I click on the File/Send Page, or File/Send Link commands. Then it reverts to Mail, which I don't want.
Is there any way to make the system use SeaMonkey as the default browser all the time?

Thanks for the info. I hope it solves the problem - it should. When I opened Mail and clicked on default browser, a list of maybe 100 items popped up, most having nothing to do with browsers (private monitor exe.app, etc). All of them had "(my boot camp)" at the end, EXCEPT Thunderbird. SeaMonkey(my boot camp) was the only SeaMonkey title in the list.
Obviously, the list came from my boot camp partition.
Finally, I scrolled all the way to the bottom and saw "select", which allowed me to browse my computer's Application files and select the right SeaMonkey.
I think Lion has a lot of bugs.

I think, but never tried, thatexecuting a html file will automatically ask the OS to open the defaulkt browser. This is like executing a *.doc file will open Word

I m using Mandriva linux. While using Some Software Testing Tool, I m facing problem of opening firefox from that tool. The tool insist to install mozilla firefox and set as default browser. I have checked with firefox it is set as my default browser. So what could be the problem?

How to set default browser in blueman?

Hi all,
I've managed to get my bluetooth phone working with blueman ok but when I try to browse a device I get:
Failed to launch "nautilus"
[Errno 2] No such file or directory
You can enter an alternate browser in service settings
I haven't been able to find any worthwhile reference to what the third line means - and not for want of trying. The blueman install only seems to provide ~/.config/blueman/bueman.conf - which is a binary. In fact, `file blueman.conf` returns "8086 relocatable (Microsoft)" which is something I've never come across before.
Does anyone know a solution to this? The Arch wiki describes blueman as "a full featured Bluetooth manager written in GTK and, as such, is recommended for GNOME or Xfce". It doesn't then follow on with "...but only if you install nautilus and a range of other unrelated crap including the whole Gnome Desktop".
Ideally I'd like the blueman browse function to lauch thunar (as would most people who run an Xfce desktop). If anyone could give me any ideas on this I'll be mightily grateful.

Yes, it seems the basic problem is lack of obex support in anything other than nautilus.

I also have a need for reliable mobile broadband connectivity via a Huawei USB dongle, so in the short term I've gone back to the outsized Gnome + networkmanager. I'll tinker with Xfce on a separate small partition to see if I can get as I want it.
Arch, though, is brilliant. And this is a friendly, knowledgeable community. I'm having great fun!
