How to implement SCD and outer join in OBIEE

Hi Experts,
1.How we can implement SCD1 and SCD2 in OBIEE.
2. How to implement outer join..? Can we implement outer join in physical layer.?
Regards
Frnds

1. Better to implement this as a part of data warehouse/ETL. If you insist there is explanation on how to work with SCD's in Administrator in some Oracle University Student Book, I think it's for Siebel Analytics version.
2. Implement outer joins using complex joins in BMM (type option). It's possible to implement in physical layer only in obiee views (new physical table/table type - select), otherwise not, you cannot specify outer join in the physical layer using complex joins.

  • Equal Join and Outer Join in OBIEE

    Hello expert,
I think the default join in OBIEE is Outer Join. So no matter what join conditions that I specify on the physical layer, the result that I get in the presentation layer is still outer join.
How to specify the equal join or inner join in Business and Logical layer?

    Hello,
Thank you for your reply. However it does not work. I got the following message:
[nQSError: 32005] The object "Fact - Fruit" bc if type 'LOGICAL TABLE SOURCE': is missing a foreign key or a complex join in the join graph.
The situation that I have is:
    Fact table: "Fact - Fruit"
List of value table (look up table): "dim_list_of_values"
I am only interested in the type in the "dim_list_of_values" table where equals to "Apple". So I only want to join the "Fact - Fruit" and "dim_list_of_values" with those records with "Apple" type.
It sounds to me that I am unable to define a freign key.

Actually I have tried to implement it but the target table which contains the effective_date and expiration_date are null after running the mapping.
I have set the effective date and expiration date settings in the SCD tab of dimension object.
Kindly help me the same if anyone knows.
    Kind regards,

You were able to get OWB11g to move data?
Are you running on a 64-bit windows server? I could not get it to do a basic data move on this type of server install.

  • Could any one tell me how to do the left outer join or right outer join?

Could any one  tell me how to do the left outer join or right outer join in Webi Rich Client? thanks.

we can do it in two ways
    1.  In  web intelligence level  on the query panel click the sql query and write the statement what ever u want there by modifying the existing statement.
    2.  In universe level select the fields in the two tables that you want to make join and create the join between two tables directly by joining field in table 1 to the field in the table 2 by drawing a line and double click on the line to view the join properties, then on join properties if we check the table 1 outer then it is left outer join if we check on table 2 outer then it will be the right outer join.after exporting the universe to the central sever we are now ready to use in web intelligence with out being changed anything in the sql query.
endorse me if it is useful.
    thanks & regards

  • How to Zoom in and Out on PDF files in Safari?

Safari help is not helpful since it gives inaccurate information on how to Zoom in and Out on a PDF file that has opened in Safari. The help says to control click the page and choose the zooming level you desire. However control clicking the PDF file in Safari brings up a save page box. I tried some of the other keys with clicking and they did not work. Thanks in advance to those who helped me save a PDF file to the desktop so I can view in Preview.- But often I just need to be able to zoom in to read the tiny text that is displayed.

Thanks for getting back to me-
the website I am trying to zoom into a PDF on is:
    http://www.beedocuments.com/software/Timeline/screenshots.html
I click on one of the screenshots- it loads into a safari window.
When I control key click on the image- a pop up menu comes up asking me to save the image to deskotp- add it my image library and 2 other save options. No zoom in or Zoom out. I only have an apple pro mouse and my track pad- so right clicking isn't an option.

          CARRID LIKE SFLIGHT-CARRID,
          CONNID LIKE SFLIGHT-CONNID.
    SELECT FCARRID FCONNID F~FLDATE
        INTO (CARRID, CONNID, DATE)
FROM SFLIGHT AS F INNER JOIN SPFLI AS P
               ON FCARRID = PCARRID AND
                  FCONNID = PCONNID
        WHERE P~CITYFROM = 'FRANKFURT'
          AND P~CITYTO   = 'NEW YORK'
          AND F~FLDATE BETWEEN '20010910' AND '20010920'
          AND FSEATSOCC < FSEATSMAX.
      WRITE: / DATE, CARRID, CONNID.
    ENDSELECT.
If there are columns with the same name in both tables, you must distinguish between them by prefixing the field descriptor with the table name or a table alias.
    Note
In order to determine the result of a SELECT command where the FROM clause contains a join, the database system first creates a temporary table containing the lines that meet the ON condition. The WHERE condition is then applied to the temporary table. It does not matter in an inner join whether the condition is in the ON or WHEREclause. The following example returns the same solution as the previous one.
    Example
Output of a list of all flights from Frankfurt to New York between September 10th and 20th, 2001 that are not sold out:
    DATA: DATE   LIKE SFLIGHT-FLDATE,
          CARRID LIKE SFLIGHT-CARRID,
          CONNID LIKE SFLIGHT-CONNID.
    SELECT FCARRID FCONNID F~FLDATE
        INTO (CARRID, CONNID, DATE)
FROM SFLIGHT AS F INNER JOIN SPFLI AS P
               ON FCARRID = PCARRID
        WHERE FCONNID = PCONNID
          AND P~CITYFROM = 'FRANKFURT'
          AND P~CITYTO   = 'NEW YORK'
          AND F~FLDATE BETWEEN '20010910' AND '20010920'
          AND FSEATSOCC < FSEATSMAX.
      WRITE: / DATE, CARRID, CONNID.
    ENDSELECT.
    Note
Since not all of the database systems supported by SAP use the standard syntax for ON conditions, the syntax has been restricted. It only allows those joins that produce the same results on all of the supported database systems:
Only a table or view may appear to the right of the JOIN operator, not another join expression.
Only AND is possible in the ON condition as a logical operator.
Each comparison in the ON condition must contain a field from the right-hand table.
If an outer join occurs in the FROM clause, all the ON conditions must contain at least one "real" JOIN condition (a condition that contains a field from tabref1 amd a field from tabref2.
    Note
In some cases, '*' may be specified in the SELECT clause, and an internal table or work area is entered into the INTO clause (instead of a list of fields). If so, the fields are written to the target area from left to right in the order in which the tables appear in the FROM clause, according to the structure of each table work area. There can then be gaps between table work areas if you use an Alignment Request. For this reason, you should define the target work area with reference to the types of the database tables, not simply by counting the total number of fields. For an example, see below:
    Variant 3
... FROM tabref1 LEFT [OUTER] JOIN tabref2 ON cond
    Effect
Selects the data from the transparent database tables and/or views specified in tabref1 and tabref2. tabref1 und tabref2 both have either the same form as in variant 1 or are themselves join expressions. The keyword OUTER can be omitted. The database tables or views specified in tabref1 and tabref2 must be recognized by the ABAP-Dictionary.
In order to determine the result of a SELECT command where the FROM clause contains a left outer join, the database system creates a temporary table containing the lines that meet the ON condition. The remaining fields from the left-hand table (tabref1) are then added to this table, and their corresponding fields from the right-hand table are filled with ZERO values. The system then applies the WHERE condition to the table.
Left outer join between table 1 and table 2 where column D in both tables set the join condition:

  • How to implement classes and methods in badi's ?

how to implement classes and methods in badi's? and where i have to write the code based on the requirement?can anyone explain me briefly?

    Hi
Every BADI by default Implements an INTERFACE which already contains some methods with parameters.
So you have to find the relavenet method based on the related paramters (by checking the fields in that paramters) you have to double click on the method and to write the code.
    see the doc
    DEFINING THE BADI
    1) execute Tcode SE18.
    2) Specify a definition Name : ZBADI_SPFLI
    3) Press create
    4) Choose the attribute tab. Specify short desc for badi.. and specify the type :
    multiple use.
    5) Choose the interface tab
    6) Specify interface name: ZIF_EX_BADI_SPFLI and save.
    7) Dbl clk on interface name to start class builder . specify a method name (name,
    level, desc).
    Method level desc
    Linese;ection instance methos some desc
    8) place the cursor on the method name desc its parameters to define the interface.
    Parameter type refe field desc
    I_carrid import spfli-carrid some
    I_connid import spefi-connid some
    9) save , check and activate…adapter class proposed by system is
    ZCL_IM_IM_LINESEL is genereated.
    IMPLEMENTATION OF BADI DEFINITION
    1) EXECUTE tcode se18.choose menuitem create from the implementation menubar.
    2) Specify aname for implementation ZIM_LINESEL
    3) Specify short desc.
    4) Choose interface tab. System proposes a name fo the implementation class.
    ZCL_IM_IMLINESEL which is already generarted.
    5) Specify short desc for method
    6) Dbl clk on method to insert code..(check the code in “AAA”).
    7) Save , check and activate the code.

  • Inner join and outer  join in infosets

    hi everyone,
i have a doubt in infosets...
when and why we use inner and outer joins(right outer join and left outer join) for infoset
please give a real time scenario........
    Thanks in advance.
    Bye.

    Hello,
    Inner join:
For example, the requirement is to show all sales documents where you have delivery exists. In this case, you join both sales ods and delivery ods in a infoset as inner join. This will match the record against the reference documents and pull only matched records.
    Outer Join:
Suppose you want to pull all billing/invoice details along with their FI documents related data in a report. Assume that always there might be a situation that invoice exists but not posted to FI, however, you want to have all billing documents details either it has FI document or not. In this case, you link both Billing data and FI document data in a outer join.  This will pull all invoices data either FI document exists or not.   Other words, you want to show one side of data always but adding additional details from differenent source if data exists.
Hope, it clarifies your doubt. Let me know if any questions.
    Thanks

  • How to suppress Missing and Zero rows in OBIEE SA for Essbase Cube as Sour

    Hi All,
Currently we have Essbase(ASO) cubes as source for OBIEE.How to suppress #Misssing and Zero rows in OBIEE.
For example, Dim1 having 4 members and Dim2 having 10 members then it shows 4*10= 40 combinations in Results.
If we considered Metrics also along with attributes, OBIEE will suppress “No Data” values and shows attributes having Data.
In Essbase-Excel Combination, Metrics will automatically comes with attributes so there we have option to suppress “No Data” rows under "Essbase Options".
In our current requirement,Users are selecting only Metadata. Is there any work around where we can suppress even if the measures or metrics are not selected

  • How to implement Union and Join operations in OBIEE

    Hi all,
Am new to OBIEE. Can some one tell me the right place to create Union and Joins in OBIEE....
Do i need to create Union or Join in Oracle(DB level) or do i have the option of creating Union/Join in Physical layer or BMM layer. I tried creating a union in Physical layer, but when i check the the data in presentation layer,i see only data from 1st table.
    Thanks you
    Praveen

Union - in the physical layer when creating new physical table/table type select:
    Example:
select 1 as id from dual union all
select 2 as id from dual
Joins - You create them in the physical layer (FK, complex) and in the BMM (complex).
You don't need to create joins in the database.

  • How can we make an outer join (+) between 2 Queries

in the data model, i have 2 queries

i want to make a data link between
    these two queries and
also make an outer join between these
two queries(i.e. to display all the detail
records, whether they have details or not)
please reply is it possible ?
    if yes then how?
    plz write.
    [email protected]
    null

    Hello,
Left outer join behavior is what you get by default with a link between two queries in Reports.
If you want a full outer join behavior, you'll need to create a third query that selects the detail records that have no corresponding master, and also create an extra layout region to display them in as a default group left or group above won't pick up these extra records.
If you want right outer join behavior, you'll need to put in a summary in the master query that counts the rows in the detail, and then put in a format trigger in the master repeating frame that suppresses printing when there are no detail records. And you'll also need the third query and layout section as in the full outer join case.
