How to import and export Oracle 10g XE in Ubuntu

Hello everyone,
I'm a Linux (Ubuntu) user, I need to import my *.dmp* file in Ubuntu.
Can someone help me, how can I do this and also how can I export?

How to install and configure Oracle 10g Express Edition on Fedora 11?

Hi everyone!
I have recently installed Oracle 10g XE on my Laptop Gateway T-1625, which has Fedora 11.
I followed the install instructions on [http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/tutorial/DBXETutorial/index.htm] , and configured the server as explained, but something is wrong... When I try to go to the database home page http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex, I get "Failed to Connect" on Firefox 3.5b4... I don't think it's because of the Firefox version because it's proved to be very stable (for a beta).
I've search for similar issues on GNU/Linux and I found this thread in these forums: [ http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=915218&tstart=0] , but the solution is for Ubuntu 9.04, and if it's possible I would like to know a specific solution for Fedora 11.
I also tried to see the oracle server status with:
# /etc/init.d/oracle-xe status
And I got this....

After your last post I realized that the dba group and the oracle user already existed.
#groupadd dba
groupadd: group dba exists
#useradd oracle -d /home/oracle -s /bin/bash -g dba
useradd: user oracle existsHowever, I finally assigned a password for that account and changed the ownership of the /usr/lib/oracle/xe
with the commands you suggested:
passwd oracle
chown -R oracle:dba /usr/lib/oracle/xeAfter this, I can log in as the oracle user but the SELinux showed a warning and the /usr/lib/oracle/xe
is treated as the oracle home, and no .bashrc file is located on this home. This is the SELinux warning:
SELinux is preventing gdm-session-wor (xdm_t) "write" to /usr/lib/oracle/xe (lib_t).
Details:
SELinux denied access requested by gdm-session-wor. /usr/lib/oracle/xe may
be a mislabeled. /usr/lib/oracle/xe default SELinux type is user_home_dir_t, but its
current type is lib_t. Changing this file back to the default type, may fix your problem.
File contexts can be assigned to a file in the following ways.
* Files created in a directory receive the file context of the parent
directory by default.
* The SELinux policy might override the default label inherited from the parent directory
by specifying a process running in context A which creates a file in a directory
labeled B will instead create the file with label C.
An example of this would be the dhcp client running with the dhclient_t type and
creates a file in the directory /etc. This file would normally receive the etc_t type due
to parental inheritance but instead the file is labeled with the net_conf_t type
because the SELinux policy specifies this.
* Users can change the file context on a file using tools such as chcon, or restorecon.
This file could have been mislabeled either by user error, or if an normally confined
application was run under the wrong domain.
However, this might also indicate a bug in SELinux because the file should not have
been labeled with this type.
If you believe this is a bug, please file a bug report (http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/enter_bug.cgi)
against this package.
Allowing Acces:
You can restore the default system context to this file by executing the restorecon command.
restorecon '/usr/lib/oracle/xe', if this file is a directory, you can recursively restore using
restorecon -R '/usr/lib/oracle/xe'.
Fix command:
restorecon '/usr/lib/oracle/xe'I suppose the command #useradd oracle -d /home/oracle -s /bin/bash -g dba is where I can define the user's home, but if this user already exists how can I modify its settings?
is SELinux preventing the .bashrc file to be created? or what could be causing this?.

Unfortunately based on what you have provided and what I read on your other post you probably won't get much more than links on this forum as well. The documentation is pretty clear on how to use IMP / EXP.
Have you been able to follow the documentation and the examples provided? You mentioned on your other thread that you know how to do it in Windows. Well the same logic applies in Linux except maybe the path to your file and permissions.
Also, in the future please don't double post (even across forums).

Example of a program exporting an internal table to ABAP memory.
Prog 1
parameters: pa_vbeln like vbak-vbeln.
data: itab type standard table of vbak.
* get data to fill the table
select * from vbak into table itab
            where vbeln = pa_vbeln.
* now store the internal table to ABAP memory
export itab to Memory ID 'table''.
* here we call another program, prog 2
submit prog2 and return.
Prog 2 -> This imports the internal table exported by prog 1 and writes the content of the internal table to a list
data: jtab type standard table of vbak,
       wa_vbak type vbak.
* importing the itab that was exported by prog1
import itab to jtab from memory id 'table'.
loop at jtab into wa_vbak.
write:/ wa_vbak-vbeln,
        wa_vbak-erdat.
endloop.
* clear the specific memory id after required processing is complete
free memory id 'table'

Also make sure you create prog2 as an executable program. Then, run prog1 with a valid Sales Order number. To understand it more clearly run it in debugging mode and step through. It should work fine in any system.

For MYSQL we have queries available for import and export
import:-LOAD DATA INFILE 'filename' INTO TABLE tablename FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
export:-SELECT * into OUTFILE 'file name' FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' FROM tablename
Do we have similar query in Oracle which can be executed on SQL * Plus

By the way, explain where you get the data from (flat file -sqlldr - or dump file -imp -?), and where you want to put the data (flat file - select - or dump file -exp - ?), be sure you know the format of file of your output.

How to wrap import and export in a Unix shell script?

I want to write a simple korn shell Unix script to kick off export and import
for our Oracle 10g refresh databases. Do any of you have a script to do this?
The goal would be:
1. Take export using exp of 10 tables in PROD database on database server1
for the prod schema user
2. Use sftp or scp to copy over the export dump file to database server 2
3. Use a shell script to import the dump file into TEST database server for schema
test
4. use nohup to run the export and import in background through cron job
We are running Oracle 10g Release 2 on Red Hat Linux.

Wouldn't it be easier to have both databases in your tnsnames.ora file. Then you can export and import on the same server without copying the files to another server.
script:
exp <username>/<password>@PROD file=<file>.dmp log=<explog>.log owner=prod
imp <username>/<password>@TEST file=<file>.dmp log=<implog>.log fromuser=prod touser=test
run this script as: nohup <scriptname> &
Since you are on oracle10g you can also use datapump (expdp and impdp) for faster exporting and importing, but I do not know the syntax by heart

For IMPORT Keyword :---
To retrieve data from the global memory area, use the IMPORT statement. The most basic form of the IMPORT statement is:
IMPORT <variable> FROM MEMORY.
To give the variable a different name in your program from what it is called in the global memory area, use the TO clause. You must define the local variable name with a DATA statement in your program. The format is:
IMPORT <global var> TO <program var> FROM MEMORY.
As with the EXPORT statement, you can specify multiple variables per statement, and you have the option of specifying which cluster ID you wish to import from.
After each IMPORT statement, SY-SUBRC is set to indicate whether or not the cluster ID you specified exists (but not whether specific variables were imported specifically). SY-SUBRC is zero if the cluster exists.
It is also possible to IMPORT and EXPORT to database tables .
ABAP memory that is used to store exported data is user and transaction specific, so when passing data between programs in this manner you must make sure that transaction boundaries are not crossed. Otherwise the contents of this memory will get destroyed and will not be available to the importing program.
For Export Keyword :---
The EXPORT statement moves data from your program into a global memory area. The most basic form of the EXPORT statement is:
EXPORT <variable> TO MEMORY.
This places the specified variable into a global memory area that another program can later read using the IMPORT statement.
You may specify multiple fields in the same EXPORT statement. For example:
EXPORT KNA1-KUNNR KNA1-BUKRS TO MEMORY.
You can give variables a different name in the global memory area using the FROM clause. For example, the following code exports SY-SUBRC and gives it the name RETVAL in the global memory area:
EXPORT RETVAL FROM SY-SUBRC TO MEMORY.
You can specify a cluster ID when exporting data to memory. You can freely choose the name of the cluster ID, which can be up to 32 characters long. Each cluster ID specifies a particular area in memory. Each time you EXPORT data to the same cluster ID, all data previously written to that ID is erased. For example:
EXPORT SY-SUBRC TO MEMORY ID u2018LJS1u2019.

I am trying to populate oracle table to sql server using import export wizard and i am getting the below error.the table is allready present in the database but still it throwing error like table doesn't exists.
Could not connect source component.
Error 0xc0202009: Source - JOB_ACTION_HISTORY [1]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.

Please check whether the table name in the Oracle database has lower case letters. The table name should be exactly correct.
In addition, the issue might be related to the Oracle driver. What provider/driver do you use? If you use Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle, you can try the
Oracle OLE DB Provider. If you use Enterprise or Developer edition of SSIS 2008 or higher, you can also try the
Microsoft Connectors for Oracle by Attunity. The Oracle OLE DB Provider and Microsoft Connectors for Oracle are proved to have better performance.
