I have a file of separate text had called DEFA.TXT, located in the c:\, and I need to care him to the database.

You probably want to use external tables for this. http://tahiti.oracle.com has all the Oracle documentation on-line-- a search there should get you plenty of information.

Hi again,
Could anyone give me any pointers on how to take a text file or csv file (or any other delimeted text file) and read the contents into java and then use the read in data to then insert the delimeted data into the table.
i assume i have to read the delimeted data into a variable then parse the complete string with the delimeter and split the data up maybe in an array. Maybe this is completely wrong, im really unsure.
any help would be greatly appreciated even a point in the right direction would be great :)

Well, atleast i dont know of a single method, which does this kind of nonhomogenous task!! Its not hard to impliment what you want-->

Unless you are talking about putting the tokens as coloums in a single row, i dont find why this is a problem & if you are actually doing the above case, then you might wanna rethink your design

Metalink note 33247.1 explains how to use text_io as suggested by Robin to read the file into a Multi-Row block. However, that article was written for forms 4.5 and uses CREATE_RECORD in a loop. There was another article, 91513.1 describing the more elegant method of 'querying' the file into the block by transactional triggers. Unfortunately this more recent article has disappeared without trace and Oracle deny its existence. I know it existed as I have a printed copy in front of me, and very useful it is too.

I don't think you have a standard sap program to upload data from file to database table...
Instead you can create a custom program like this..

How to create text file in the database trigger. I am working on Row level trigger which has select statement if statement fails I have to create text file and insert record in text file. I tried to use file1 TEXT_IO.FILE_TYPE package it does not works.

TEXT_IO is not available on the database. It is only available if you are doing client-side PL/SQL development in Oracle Forms. On the database side, you can use the UTL_FILE package.
Since writing to a file is not transactional, however, and because Oracle may have to call a trigger multiple times to ensure write consistency:

you aregenerally better off not writing to a file in a trigger. The better answer is generally to use Oracle Asynchronous Queues to send a message to another process that actually writes the file. That way, if the transaction rolls back, nothing gets written to the file.

Importing text file (with file names) into Automator.. is it possible?

Hello all,
I have been working with Windows Batch files for my line of work. I have a couple of file names in a text file (a column), which I want to copy from one folder of one hdd to another folder on a different hdd. I have been trying to do this kind of work with a Mac. I already know how you copy and rename files in automator (which isn't difficult, of course) but you have to 'select' the files in the finder first (with get specified items).
But the only way i see that you can specify items is by selecting them... is there a way to import a text file with all the file names instead of selecting all the file names manually?
or is there an AppleScript alternative which I can use to import the text file (or just copy into applescript) and run before the query's of copying and renaming the files? I am kind of new to Apple programming.
The text file looks like this:
image1.jpg
image2.jpg
etc..
so there has to be a command to: 'goto' a specific folder as well.

You can import text files, but if they are just names you will need an additional action to add the source folder path. A *Run AppleScript* action can be used, for example:

You do not.
.dmp files are created from our Export and Data Pump database utilities and are proprietary files. You use the corresponding Import (or Data Pump) utility to import the data.

Import Text Files Into Apple Notes?

Hello,
Is there a way for me to automate importing text files into Apple Notes? I can certainly do this manually via copy/paste, but have over 700 files to transfer.

Automator is Apple's simple way to do tasks like this, but Notes app doesn't have any actions for this so I assume you need to use Applescript to do this. Double check Automator - I am on 10.9 & maybe 10.10 added support for Notes in Automator? Enter 'Note' in the search field to see if Automator can make new Notes.

See the "Create New Stylized Note" script <- click script icon to download it, copy & paste seems to fail because of how the browser displays characters.
You would need to adapt that script to import from the text files.
I'm not sure you really want to do that anyway - Notes app has such poor support that putting serious data into it looks like a mistake - how difficult will it be to export data when Apple eventually abandon it? It seems like a toy app to me for new iPhone users, it;s unclear if it will ever be able to compete with other options. There are third party apps to export from Notes.app, but why rely on third parties? A notes app should allow you to import & export your data!

If you need images within notes or text styling you could use Evernote or one of the many other notes apps.
Sorry to sound so negative on Notes.app, it's OK but I don't think its the best place to put over 700 notes.

Plz clarify whether u want to load text file as a file into database or value of this text file into database. If values are to be loaded from this text file, U can better format the text file and use SQL loader to load the file into database. By formatting the database, i mean remove the unnecessary headings and characters, kee only the values to be loaded idelimited by ' '(space) or ','(comma). Create a control file and load it into the target table.

Importing text file into search and redact window.

I am in the search window under the search and redact tool. I
am trying to import a file that was originally an excel to populate the
search multiple words window. I read that text files can be imported. I saved the file as a text file but it does not import. I can import an adobe file but this gives me a list with a bunch of junk. What am I missing?

The dialog imports text files.
Make sure that the file you are importing is a text file and has one word in every line.

my application is forms 6i and database is 8i,requirement is that how to save pdf file in database and users can view through forms

I'll apologize up front for the length of this post. I have a few database procedures I created that write a file to a BLOB column in a table as well as retrieve the BLOB from the column after it stored there. I have successfully stored many different types of binary file to the database using these procedures - including PDF files. I have not used these procedures in a Form so I can confirm that they will work, but theoretically they should work. I'm including the code for each procedure in this posting - hence the apology for the long post! :-)
Also, since these procedures reside on the database you will need to use Forms TEXT_IO built-in package to write your file to the server before you can use these procedures to store and retrieve the file from the database.
These procedures reads and writes a binary file to a table called "LOB_TABLE." You will need to modify the procedure to write to your table.

I have an option to read EMP names randomly from either text file or database . Can anyone tell me which one will be fast. I have to read more than 5000 names dynamically for my application and pick one name randomly.

New Project -----> Enterprise ----> package Archive ...... it shows me creating project bar at right bottom bur i cannot see any such project at project window as weel as specified location pecified at the time of creation.
