Can you use insert .. returning .. so you do not have to select the empty_clob back out.
[I have a similar problem but I do not know the primary key to select on, I am really looking for an atomic insert and fill clob mechanism, somone said you can create a clob fill it and use that in the insert, but I have not seen an example yet.]

Tou need to do a couple of things
1. On the Essbase server, set up an odbc system connection to your MySQL database
2. In the load rule , go to the file menu and select open SQL data source and in the data source put in your SQL statement . A couple of hints. Where it says Select, don't put in the word select and where it say from don't put in from. The system adds them for you. The easiest way ti enter a SQL statement is to do it all in the select area So if your SQL would normanlly say select * from mytable just enter the code as * from mytable in the select area
The click ol/retrieve and enter in your connection info. Itshould bring data back into the load rule. Save the load rule and use it

How to integrate Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse with Weblogic Portal

I am following this documentation http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14252/setup_dev_env.htm#i1013214
to setup my development environment for developing portal applications, but I cannot set it up, my eclipse does not have PORTAL perspective.
I have downloaded the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 11gR1 (11.1.1.5) and the Oracle WebLogic Portal 10.3 as mentioned in the documentation.
The Oracle Weblogic Portal 10.3 includes a workshop version of eclipse, but that is not based on a recent Eclipse, that is why I would like to use the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 11gR1 (11.1.1.5).
It is weird int he Oracle Portal 10.3 installation that I cannot install the Weblogic Portal without the Workshop.
Could you help me in this? How can I integrate the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse with Weblogic Portal?

For WebLogic Portal tooling you have a couple of options. For WebLogic Portal 10.3 and older, Workshop for WebLogic will be your tooling environment.
Starting in WebLogic Portal 10.3.2, which released this year, the development tools have migrated to Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse. The WebLogic Portal 10.3.2 installer will install both the runtime and the IDE configured with additional WebLogic Portal Eclipse features (Portal Project Configuration, Perspecitives, Palettes, Deployment, etc).

If i use type in place of STRUCTURE then it is ok, but zmpsdtl should be defined as table type. :-

You have to use a global structure instead of a ddic structure after the STRUCTURE statement:

I am trying to select records from a detail table by grouping it. The table has more than 1 million records and the query is not performing well. The basic question is how to select a distinct record from a table which matches all values in one column and any in the other.

The requirement is to select projects that have matching SCRID, SCVID from TBP such that
all distinct SCRID should match and within that and any SCVID match will do. (A "AND" between each SCRID and an "OR" for each SCVID in that SCRID like 'SCRID = 1 AND (SCVID = 1 OR SCVID = 2 OR SCVID = 3) AND SCRID = 2 AND (SCVID =....)
So, for the sample data it should return us PROID = 1
I have few queries written for this:

This query performs well but the cost is very high, hardcoding, sorting.
The 2nd option is to:
SELECT pjs.PROID proid
FROM TBP tbp,
PJS pjs
WHERE pjs.SCVID = tbp.SCVID
AND pjs.SCRID = tbp.SCRID
GROUP BY pjs.PROID
HAVING COUNT(DISTINCT pjs.SCRID) = (SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT SCRID ) FROM TBP)
This has a low cost but runs slowly.
One more way I tried was with the IN operator like
SELECT DISTINCT PROID FROM PJS A,TBP T WHERE T.SCRID = 1 AND T.SCVID = A.SCVID
AND PROID IN (SELECT PROID FROM PJS A,TBP T WHERE T.SCRID = 2 AND T.SCVID = A.SCVID
AND PROID IN (...SO ON with each DISTINCT SCRID.
Again this involves too much of sorting.

How to use EWS or Powershell to rename all folders that have a forward slash in them

We have many users that have created folders in Outlook that have forward slashes in the name (i.e. / ). They did this in Outlook/Exchange 2003. We upgraded to Outlook 2010 and this is no longer aloud so there are issues with the folders when performing
functions such as trying to share or using IMAP, etc.
I'm looking for a way to specify a particular user's mailbox in a script and have it traverse every folder/subfolder and check if there is a forward slash in the name. If there is a forward slash I would like to rename the folder to something like the bar
character (i.e |) or another character that is valid.
I had most users go through Outlook manually and clean them up. However there are a handful of users that have hundreds if not thousands of subfolders that have the forward slash in them.
I've done extensive research on this (references to my research below) and came close in putting a script together but I just can't figure it out. Anyone have an example for this? Even if I need to specify a folder within the Inbox and have the script only
process subfolders from this location would be acceptable since most of them are subfolders of a particular folder.

How to improve oracle reports performance on OAS environment

We have Oracle AS environment for our ERP application, I configured report server as mentioned in documentation but when user runs report (in pdf and html) it is very slow in first attempt and further attempts too. How can i improve performance. Is anyone suggest any idea?

In ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf you'll find a <reports server name>.conf file : within it, look for maxEngine, if its value is "1", then increase it to, say, "4", and restart the reports server.

How to improve the event log read performance under intensive event writing

We are collecting etw events from customer machines. In our perf test, the event read rate can reach 5000/sec when there is no heavy event writing. However, the customer machine has very intensive event writing and our read rate dropped a lot (to 300/sec).
I understand there is IO bound since event write and read will race for the log file, which is also confirmed by the fact that whenever there is a burst of event write, a dip of event read happens at the same time. Therefore, the event read cannot catch up
the event write and the customer gets lagging behind logs.
Note that most of the events are security events generated by windows (instead of customers).
Is there a way to improve the event read performance under intensive event write? I know it is a hard question given the theory blocker just mentioned. But we will lose customers if there is no solution. Appreciate any clue very much!

I'm new in oracle developer yesterday i setup in my laptop database 11g the last version (11.2.0.1.0), well i follow steps still i got succeed to install, and i got my local host URL and i test my user name and password work very well, my problem now is i try to connect database 11g using Oracle SQL Developer 3.0 (3.0.04.34) but always filed and with my little experience i don't know where the wrong. as i said i test database after finish install is work fine the my URL is https://Ahmed-HP:1158/em and i test my username and password that i already set before is enter normal in my local database, please i need help to know how i connect database with Oracle SQL Developer 3.0 (3.0.04.34).

because the message when i test connection always is filed and I'm sure i typing username and password and SID:orcl as i set when install database.port 1158 is what the dbcontrol (Oracle Enterprise Manager) is listening on. OEM is NOT the database. As far as the database is concerned, OEM is "just another client".
Actually, the database doesn't listen for requests on any port. There is another process, the "listener" that listens for requests to connect to the database. Typically, it listens on port 1521.
