How to include CDATA in xml generated from XQuery

I need to include Cdata in the xml generated from my xquery which is given below:
I tried using XMLCDATA, but not getting the desired output. What am I doing wrong?
SELECT XMLQuery('<InsUpdDel>
for $crv in ora:view("RELATION")
return
<first>
<eff_date>{$crv/ROW/EFF_DATE/text()}</eff_date>
{$crv/ROW/SOURCE/text()}
<key>
<fld>

<val>XMLCDATA({$crv/ROW/FROM_ENT_TYPE/text()})</val>
</fld>
<fld>

<val>{$crv/ROW/FROM_ENT_ID/text()}</val>
</fld>
</key>
</first>}</InsUpdDel>'
RETURNING CONTENT)
FROM dual;
The output I get is XMLCDATA(C), while the desired output is C

Forgive me my vanity to think I can contribute by kicking doors open that are probably already wide open....I might create more confusion, but perhaps it helps some of the readers of this thread....
In general it is not such a good idea to use "string" functions to create (serialized) XML. XML tools (including Oracle XML DB) go through a lot of effort to make sure that when a "native" XML structure is serialized to a string, the XML rules are strictly obeyed (e.g. special character escaping).
Just assume e.g. that the $i/Reference from above contains something like <
The resulting XML would not be valid.
More info on serializing XML in the context of XQuery is available from
- http://www.w3.org/TR/xquery/#id-serialization
- http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt-xquery-serialization/
- http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt-xquery-serialization/#XML_CDATA-SECTION-ELEMENTS
Unfortunately I do not think Oracle XML DB currently implements these parts of the spec (perhaps 11g will)...leaving the OP's question unanswered.
Anyway, if going the route of serializing the XML through string functions, it is always good to realize the dangers of such an approach.

• How can I get the XML structure from a flat structure?

Hi all,
in my XI SP 12 I use a JMS adapter to read information using the WebSphereMQ transport protocol.
The structure that I receive have this format:
<Name_A.KeyFieldValue><Name_A.fieldName_A1_Value>...<Name_A.fieldName_AN_Value>
<NumberRecordType_B><NumberRecordType_c>
<Name_B.KeyFieldValue><Name_B.fieldName_B1_Value>...<Name_B.fieldName_BN_Value>
<Name_B.KeyFieldValue><Name_B.fieldName_B1_Value>...<Name_B.fieldName_BN_Value>
<Name_C.KeyFieldValue><Name_C.fieldName_C1_Value>...<Name_C.fieldName_CN_Value>
<Name_C.KeyFieldValue><Name_C.fieldName_C1_Value>...<Name_C.fieldName_CN_Value>
the problem is that in this structure each line is not separated by a carriage return or a comma, I have all the information in a single line:
<Name_A.KeyFieldValue><Name_A.fieldName_A1_Value>...<Name_A.fieldName_AN_Value><NumberRecordType_B><NumberRecordType_c><Name_B.KeyFieldValue><Name_B.fieldName_B1_Value>...<Name_B.fieldName_BN_Value>...<Name_B.KeyFieldValue><Name_B.fieldName_B1_Value>...<Name_B.fieldName_BN_Value><Name_C.KeyFieldValue><Name_C.fieldName_C1_Value>...<Name_C.fieldName_CN_Value>...<Name_C.KeyFieldValue><Name_C.fieldName_C1_Value>...<Name_C.fieldName_CN_Value>
and the customer don't want to insert a line separator.
Then, the question is:
How can I get the XML structure from this structure?
If possible, I don't want to develop new Module and add it in the JMS Module Sequence.
PS I have already read the article "How to Use the Content Conversion Module with the XI 3 J2EE JMS Adapter.pdf" and it doesn't seem to help me.
Best Regards,

To get context parameters from your web.xml file you can simply get the ActionServlet object from an implementing action object class. In the perform (or execute) method make the following call.
ServletContext context = getServlet().getServletContext();
String tempContextVar =
context.getInitParameter("<your context param >");

How I can create a XML file from java Aplication
whith have a the following structure
<users>
<user>
<login>anyName</login>
<password>xxxx</password>
</user>

the password label must be encripted
accept any suggestion

Let us assume you have all the data from the jsp form in an java bean object..
Now you want a xml file. This can be acheived in 2 ways
1. Write it into a file using java.io classes. Say you have a class with name
write("
);
bingo you have a flat file with the xml
2. Use data binding to do the trick
will recommend JiBx and Castor for the 2nd option

• How to extract the actual XML document from soap message?

My problem is " how to extract the actual XML document from soap message? "
i just want to extract the attachment i.e. (pure XML document without any soap header or envolope).
i could be ver thank full if u could solve my problem.
[email protected]

Hi,
This is some skeleton code for extracting an attachment from a SOAPMessage.
import javax.activation.DataHandler.;
import javax.xml.soap.*;
import javax.xml.message.*;
Iterator allAttachments = message.getAttachments();
AttachmentPart ap1 = null;
while(allAttachments.hasNext()){
ap1 = (AttachmentPart)allAttachments.next();
//Check that the attachment is correct one. By looking at its mime headers
//Convert the attachment part into its DOM representation:
if(ap1.getContentType() == "text/xml"){
//Use the activation dataHandler class to extract the content, then create a StreamSource from
//the content.
DataHandler attachmentContent = ap1.getDataHandler();
StreamSource attachmentStream = new StreamSource(attachmentContent.getInputStream());
DOMResult domAttachment = getDOMResult(attachmentStream);
domAttachment holds an xml representation of the attachment.
Hope this helps.

Thanks in advance,

There is o extractor to load assessment cycles; instead you can load dtaa after the assesment cycle is complte in R/3. You can schdeule the job in BW accordingly.
May I know what exactly is the requirement.

• How can we identify idoc is generated from ale or edi

hi friends,
This is interview question asked in tcs,
how can we identify idoc is generated from ALE or EDI.
please give me reply if anybody knows
thanks,
hari priya

Idoc created by ALE is a means of migrating DATA between SAP systems. You configure logical destinations, establish some migrating criteria and the system takes care of getting your data from point A to point B
Where as Idoc created by EDI is described as the interchange of structured data according to agreed message standards between computer systems, by electronic means. Structured data equates to a simple and direct method of presenting the data content of a document. The method of ensuring the correct interpretation of the information by the computer system is defined by the EDI standard."
EDI is a technique used to communicate business transactions between computer systems of different companies and organizations. Note that sometimes the EDI mechanism deployed at a company is often used to interface to other systems within the same organization."

IDocs act as data containers in an ALE scenario. They are just a format of storing application data and then transferred using ALE. Take a look at http://www.sapgenie.com/ale/why_ale.htm and http://www.sapgenie.com/sapgenie/docs/ale_whitepaper.doc for further details on ALE.

• How do you get an xml file from the PO Output for Communication report?

Can anyone tell me how you've created an xml output fil for this program? When I run it, the View XML button doesn't light up, and the output file is empty.
I can see the XML when I click the View Log button, but can't figure out how to save it so that the XMLP Desktop tool can load it properly.
If you can tell me how to create this file, I'd be very appreciative.

Hi,
I can't see the xml in my log file. Maybe you have a different logging level. One issue I have had before is that the xml declaration had a strange character encoding. It should say something like: . If it mentions anything about encoding you can remove it.
One of our developers wrote a custom process to write the xml to a table when the document was generated as we couldn't find any other way of doing it.
You can use the sample xml available from the data definition but this is missing fields.
Probably not much help...

• How do I create individual xml files from the parsed data output of a xml file?

I have written a program (DOM Parser) that parses data from a XMl File. I would like to create an individual file with the corresponding name for each set of data parsed from the xml document. If the parsed output is Single, Double, Triple, I would like to create an individual xml file (Single.xml, Double.xml, Triple.xml)with those corresponding names. How do I create the xml files and give each file the name of my parsed data output? Thanks in advance for your help.

• How to modify an existing xml file from java code.

Hi
I have worked on creating a new xml file from java code using xmlbeans.But if i try to modify an already existing file using java code I am unable to get errorfree xmlfile.
For example if xml file(studlist.xml) is as below:

<StudentList xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="D:\kchaitanya\xmlprac1\abc\Studlist.xsd">
<Student>

<Age>27</Age>
</Student>
<Student>

<Age>26</Age>
</Student>
</StudentList>
Now suppose i have set name to victor using student.setName,
and set age to 20 using setAge from javacode,
the new xml file is as follows:

<StudentList xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="D:\kchaitanya\xmlprac1\abc\Studlist.xsd">
<Student>

<Age>27</Age>
</Student>
<Student>

<Age>26</Age>
</Student>
</StudentList>
<Student>

<Age>20</Age>
</Student>
As observed this is not a valid xml file.But how can i modify without any errors?

I know it's an old post, but I found this while doing a google search for something else, and don't like to leave it un-aswered
Just in case anyone has a similar problem... In this case the new elements have been appended outside of the root element
What you need to do is first get the root element and then append the new children to that, there are several ways of getting the root element, which depend on what you want to do with the elements you get back here's a simple (incomplete) way.
// gets the root element of the specified file (code not shown)
Element rootElement= new SAXReader().read(file).getRootElement();Then just append the new elements as below (this is non-generic code and would need to be modified for your situation)
// write a new student element
Element student = document.createElement("Student"); // creates the new student
rootElement.appendChild(student); // ***appends it to the root element***
Element name = document.createElement("Name"); // creates the name element
name.appendChild(document.createTextNode("Fred")); // adds the name text to the name element
student.appendChild(name); // appends the name to the student
Element age= document.createElement("Age"); // creates the age element
age.appendChild(document.createTextNode("26")); // adds the age text to the age element
student.appendChild(age); // appends the name to the studentThen flush ya buffers or whatever and write the file

• How to write to an XML file from JDE batch application?

Hello everyone,
I need to write data from a batch application to an XML file. I don't know how to use the XML business functions.
I tried to use XML Publisher but the format is not the same as the client XML. The XML file has some customized format.

Some business functions I saw are Create XML document, XML Add element and XML Add attribute but the parameters are complex to

• How to include custom application.xml in JDev9i project

Can anybody explain to me how to include a custom application.xml file when deploying to an .ear file? I need to include application wide security roles, and I can't see where in Jev9i how to do this.
After searching this forum, I see that jdev9i can't include the orion-application.xml, but I want to include just the standard J2EE application.xml. Is this possible?
Thanks,
matt

The standard application.xml file unfortunately can't be customized in JDev 9.0.2. The reasons why this capability was left out of JDev 9.0.2 are same reasons why the other EAR-level XML files were excluded. The OTN thread
Re: Regarding 11i and E-business suite
has a summary of those reasons, which you've probably seen. We know this is an area in need of improvement and will be adding this functionality in the JDev 9.0.3 release. Until then, you'll have to go with a work-around like an Ant build file, batch file, Java application, or some other kind of script.
Below is a sample Java application which can be used to insert <security-role> elements into an EAR file's application.xml. Modify the main() method to customize for your purposes, and put xmlparserv2.jar on the classpath (in a JDev project, add the "Oracle XML Parser v2" library):

It's not nearly as straight-forward as it should be, but check out the javax.xml.transform package (assuming you're using JDK 1.4).
I think Xerces has simpler methods for doing this, but I wrote my own serializer class ages ago, and tend to use that.

Can anyone please tell me where I am going wrong, or how the output for a XML feed called from a CFC should look in a browser etc?
Thanks

Hey Dan....thanks for the prompt reply.
I added the wsdl and this is what I get when I call the service from this cfm page: http://www.prevu.tv/xyzTest.cfm
Have never seen output like this. Is this correct?
The web service I'm writing is also for some .net developers so it may be that I need to output as string also - this discussion has not taken place yet.

• How could we read the XML data from a table using BODS.

Hi Guys,
My requirement is , As the OLTP system consists of a table called person which consists of a column demographics. so how could i read this XML data which is in one column of an SQL table called persons. As this XML data will populate the remaining fields in my target using BODS.
Regards,
Amjad.

Hi Amjad,
I am afraid there ain't any direct method to extract XML field from a data base.
Indirect way could be converting the whole table (instead of one field) into XML format and then extract one field from it!!
