How to include javax.mail.* in a JAR

I use a Recipe JAR through StudioONE, and I can not include javax.mail.* as a content.
Once the jar has been generated, I try to run it and obviously I get and ClassNotFoundException because the javax.mail.* was not included in my jar.
I'm I right ? What am I doing wrong ?

You are talking about an executable jar file, right? You don't put the javax.mail classes in your jar. You put classpath entries in the manifest of your jar file to tell the JVM where to look for classes in other jar files.

How to include images/icons for a jar file

Hi,
I need to create a jar file which will contain my application. My source code (.java) files are in "app" folder. I compiled that using javac -d . *.java and one package("appl") was created. I have all icons and images related to my application are in the folder named "icons" in the directory where source files are located i.e; app folder - "app/icons". I am accessing the images in the icons directory as "icons/book.gif".
I created a jar file from source file directory with the option
jar cvf app.jar app
and i added this jar file to my classpath also.
I have created a batch file to execute this application and set that batch file to "path" environment variable.
It is running from any directory but no icons are appearing in that application if i try to run the application out side the "app" folder.
Can any body give suggessions to solve this problem?

To use files in jars, you need to refer to them via a URL, so you'll need to modify your code a little bit first.

setIconImage(Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage(imgURL));Next, you'll need a manifest. Using any text editor such as notepad, create a file called manifest.txt and put two lines in it. The first line will specify the class (w/o .class on the end) that contains your public static void main method, the second line is just an empty line (just press return).
Main-Class: main
(a blank line)
Save this file with your class files (e.g. in Exam folder).
Next build your jar. We want the jar to contain the package folder and your icon folder as well. So use this:
jar cmf Exam/manifest.txt myJar.jar Exam/*.class icons
And you should now have an executable jar. You can run it from dos with:
java -jar myJar.jar
or you can double-click it from windows.

Error: SHA1 digest error for javax/mail/Authenticator.class

I am using javax.mail api to sending emails.
when I calls main method of the class to send email its works perfect, but when I imports the same class in jsp its shows me above said error.
My email server requires authentication before sending mails.
please guide me how to use this class in jsp .

Find all the jar files under Tomcat's installation directory and all the jar files in the jre/lib/ext directory.
Make sure only one of them includes javax.mail.* classes.
Note that setting CLASSPATH to a directory does not cause all jar files in that directory to be loaded.
Finally, make sure Eclipse isn't copying the class files out of mail.jar and packaging them with your
application.

Netbeans can, jar can not - NoClassDefFoundError: javax/mail/Address

I have made a simple java application to send out emails. It works on Netbeans. That is, after compilation on Netbeans, and then run it on Netbeans, the email can be sent out successfully.
But after I made a jar file with cmd.exe, and then try to run it on cmd.exe, it throws the following error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/mail/Address
Can anyone help to illumine?

I did, doesnt work. program only works if I run jar file from location where netbeans puts jar for distribution. If I copy the jar file from the dist to the directory I want to run the jar file, it cant find the other jar i want to include.
I have my program which compiles to a jar for distribution. In netbeans i point to a sqljdbc.jar for connecting to SQL Server. Running it from netbeans works fine. Copying the lib directory in the dist directory together with the jar to my destination where I want to run the program works fine too. But I would like to link to the sqljdbc.jar at its original location.
I have added C:\applibs\sqljdbc.jar to the path in Start >> My Computer >> Properties >> Advanced >> Environment Variables. Doesnt Work.
If I copy C:\dev\myapp\dist\myapp.jar to C:\apps\myapp.jar without copying C:\dev\myapp\lib to teh same location as well, it doesnt run. It gives the NoClassDefinationError when run at the command prompt
C:\apps>java -jar myapp.jar
I even tried
C:\apps>java -classpath .;C:\C:\applibs\sqljdbc.jar -jar myapp.jar
Its like the -classpath flag is being ignored. So obviously there is a concept I am misunderstanding. I read somewhere that I have to build my own jar file. Is that the only option? Should this theoretically be working? Can you just copy the jar file from the dist directory to run somewhere else provided the libs it uses is in the path at an OS level?

1. Install the PayPal Java SDK “Installing the

2. Copy a subset of the Java SDK JAR files to a location

How to include external jars - URGENT...

I am using Eclipse for development.
My application uses some external jars.
This step is simple in Eclipse, one simply indicates where the jars are to the IDE.
However, when I make an executable JAR file from my project, those external JARs are not included.
So when I run my program, everything is fine until the parts that uses the external JARs.
Does anyone know how to include them outside of Eclipse platform?
I am going to see my client in an hour and of course I can't bring my source and install an Eclipse at my client's computer to show them my demo...
please help... thanx...

You add those external jars to the classpath or the jars classpath if you're running the program from a jar. Or put the external jar to JAVA_HOME\lib\ext (IIRC)

My question is: how do you do this ?

My program uses some of jdic functionnality so i need to include in my program jdic.jar. But that' s my problem. How can i include it in my application's executable jar.
