How to include variable inside XML Fragment in assign ?

HI..how are you today.
i need to assign an XML Fragment...like this into a variable:
<tns:pCmds>put @Encoded_Filename@</tns:pCmds>
<tns:pCmds>bye</tns:pCmds>
that Encoded_Filename is a variable..but of course..it is taking the whole put ...as a string...how can i tell bpel that the @@ is a variable?
i remember having some escape char to do so, but can figure out now..
Thanks in advance
P.

ok, i got what you were saying about CDATA, but i think my problem is the opposite..i WANT my string to be parsed..
when i assign <tag> put @filename@ </tag> i need that variable to be replaced..and right now, it is taken all as a simple string...

• Using value of a variable in XML fragment

Hi,
I am assigning an xml fragment to a webservice variable. The XML fragment is as mentioned below:
<ns2:ArrayOfKeyValuePair xmlns:ns2="http://www.themindelectric.com/package/com.taw.cca.common/"
xsi:type="soapenc:Array"
soapenc:arrayType="ns2:KeyValuePair[1]"
xmlns="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/03/business-process/"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xmlns:soapenc="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/">

<key xsi:type="xsd:string">key</key>
*<value xsi:type="xsd:string" > 1234</value>*

</ns2:ArrayOfKeyValuePair>
In the above mentioned xml fragment, for the tag value I need to pass the data of a variable instead of the hardcoded string 1234. How can I resolve my issue?
Thanks

In the worst case, you could always resort to using scriptlets to retrieve the parameter. and set it up as an attribute in the local page scope.
<%
String param = (String)request.getParameter("collection");
Collection userCollection = (Collection)request.getAttribute(param);
pageContext.setAttribute("local_collection", userCollection);
%>
<forEach var="user" items="${local_collection}">
,,,I think this should work.
JSTL is great, but it can't yet replace every scriptlet, much as I would like it to.

• Please help on how to use variables inside a method call

Hello guys,
How's it goin?
Pardon me if you find my question silly, but I am relatively
new in ActionScript 2.0 programming.
I have here a simple problem. It seems I can't use a variable
inside a method call of an object. Here's the code. Please note of
the authParams string variable below.
import AkamaiConnection;
import mx.services.WebService;
var GeneratedToken:String;
var authParams:String;
// Create a Web Service object
var TokGenService:WebService = new WebService("
http://webservice.asmx?wsdl");
// Call the web service method
var myToken:Object = TokGenService.GenerateToken();
// Create an AkamaiConnection object
var connection:AkamaiConnection = new AkamaiConnection();
connection.addEventListener("onConnect", this);
connection.addEventListener("onError", this);
// If you get a result from the web service, save the result
in a variable
myToken.onResult = function(result)
// If you get a result from the web service, save the result
in a variable
myToken.onResult = function(result)
GeneratedToken = result;
authParams = GeneratedToken +
"&aifp=v001&slist=37414/test/Streaming/";
//Call the Connect method of the AkamaiConnection class
connection.connect("cp37414.edgefcs.net/ondemand",true,true,5,true,false,"443","rtmpt",
authParams);
But then, if I use a hard-coded string value in lieu of the
variable, the method call works!
connection.connect("cp37414.edgefcs.net/ondemand",true,true,5,true,false,"443","rtmpt",
"testStringvalue");
I don't know what I'm missing or what I'm doing wrong... Can
somebody help me please? I am using a 30-day trial version of Adobe
Flash CS3. Also, when I Trace output the variables, the values are
there. It just that they can't be read or recognize inside the
method call. Is this a ActionScript limitation?
Thanks so much in advance!

The result param is a returned, “Decoded ActionScript
object version of the XML”. I am not exactly sure what that
means but I have had issues of returned XML values and their
datatype. When I did have these issues I had to cast or convert
into the desired datatype. Try one of the following, assuming the
problem is related to the code that you have bolded.
GeneratedToken = result.toString();
authParams = GeneratedToken +
"&aifp=v001&slist=37414/test/Streaming/";
Or
GeneratedToken = String(result);
authParams = GeneratedToken +
"&aifp=v001&slist=37414/test/Streaming/";
Or
GeneratedToken = result.toString();
authParams = String(GeneratedToken +
"&aifp=v001&slist=37414/test/Streaming/");

• How to include custom application.xml in JDev9i project

Can anybody explain to me how to include a custom application.xml file when deploying to an .ear file? I need to include application wide security roles, and I can't see where in Jev9i how to do this.
After searching this forum, I see that jdev9i can't include the orion-application.xml, but I want to include just the standard J2EE application.xml. Is this possible?
Thanks,
matt

The standard application.xml file unfortunately can't be customized in JDev 9.0.2. The reasons why this capability was left out of JDev 9.0.2 are same reasons why the other EAR-level XML files were excluded. The OTN thread
Re: Regarding 11i and E-business suite
has a summary of those reasons, which you've probably seen. We know this is an area in need of improvement and will be adding this functionality in the JDev 9.0.3 release. Until then, you'll have to go with a work-around like an Ant build file, batch file, Java application, or some other kind of script.
Below is a sample Java application which can be used to insert <security-role> elements into an EAR file's application.xml. Modify the main() method to customize for your purposes, and put xmlparserv2.jar on the classpath (in a JDev project, add the "Oracle XML Parser v2" library):
package mypackage4;
import java.io.*;
import java.util.*;
import java.util.zip.*;

• How to include HTML in XML for OMNIPORTLET

I have an OMNIPORTLET where I need to display a list of names along with a link to a story if they have a story.
The goal is to list that NAME and if they have a story then show a (STORY) with a link under the STORY, and then for those names that do not have stories nothing would show for the second column.
example below:
ACME Rockets
ACME Skis ( [Success Story|http://www.oracle.com])
ACME Sleds
The feed works correctly in displaying the names, but I need some guidance on how to handle displaying the Story link.
In the XML file I have a tag for REFERENCE_URL and then within that tag is the <a href="..."> coding using *&lgt;* type escape characters to insure the HTML comes across embedded in the case where there is a Reference story. Also, when there is not a story, then the tag is left blank.
The file looks fine when I check it out, but then when I include it in the OMNIPORTLET and run the Test button on the first page of the portlet configuration, all of the ampersands in front of the less than and greater than escape characters show that they are turned into having an extra ampersand in front of them.
In the OMNIPORTLET I am using:
* an HTML View
* in the Layout in the Repeating Section with in the table column I display the ##COMPANY_NAME## and then the ##REFERENCE_URL## expecting to have the Reference URL push out a live HTML anchor and link.
What happens is that I get a text display of the anchor instead of it coming out in HTML code to actually be an anchor.
i.e.: ACME Systems <a href="http://www.oracle.com/examplelink.pdf" target="_blank">Success Story</a>
Any guidance on what I should change or another method to handle what I am needing to do?
Thanks,
Stephen

Thanks for your answer. I downloaded the JDBC AddressBook application and I found it very usefull. I was able to populate a datalist from a datasource and show it in my application. My problem still remains in the sense that I am unable to show the KPI data in a "custom node" meaning I woul like not only to extract directly the database record to a datalist object but also put the information of a single record in a textbok and a gauge and keep control of paging. I think this is done with the parser in the other examples but I can not figure out how to do it with MySQL and the new Desktop screen designer. Should I use a clip object? or is that managed already by the desktop screen designer? or where can I find an example with the functionality I need?.

Forgive me my vanity to think I can contribute by kicking doors open that are probably already wide open....I might create more confusion, but perhaps it helps some of the readers of this thread....
In general it is not such a good idea to use "string" functions to create (serialized) XML. XML tools (including Oracle XML DB) go through a lot of effort to make sure that when a "native" XML structure is serialized to a string, the XML rules are strictly obeyed (e.g. special character escaping).
Just assume e.g. that the $i/Reference from above contains something like <
The resulting XML would not be valid.
More info on serializing XML in the context of XQuery is available from
- http://www.w3.org/TR/xquery/#id-serialization
- http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt-xquery-serialization/
- http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt-xquery-serialization/#XML_CDATA-SECTION-ELEMENTS
Unfortunately I do not think Oracle XML DB currently implements these parts of the spec (perhaps 11g will)...leaving the OP's question unanswered.
Anyway, if going the route of serializing the XML through string functions, it is always good to realize the dangers of such an approach.

• Discoverer Plus - How to include variable text in the Title

Hi,
I need to include a variable text in the report like the user information or another information i woul like to obtain from a query that is not the standars date,time,... oracle discoverer plus improves us.
I tried with calculations associates to a parameters, but is not possible.
I hope i explained correctly.
Thanks,

This can be done by creating a parameter, then a calculation, then a condition. Then under "Edit Header" or Page Setup, choose "Header" or "Footer"as needed and choose to insert the Parameter.
Step by step Example instruction:
1-Create a parameter as follows:
--Item = NONE
--Name = "Workbook run by" (This will appear in the heading or title when workbook run)
--Prompt = "Please enter UserID in all capital letters"
--Description and Default value left blank
2-Create a Calculation
--In New Calculation choose "Function" then choose the function "USER" from Database. (This is all that the calculation will need.)
--Name Calculation = i.e.: "DB_USERID"
3-Create a condition as follows:
--Name = Request_UserID
--Item = DB_USERID
Condition = IN
Value = Choose parameter: Workbook run by
-Double click on worksheet title, choose Insert, then choose Parameter (This can be done the same way under Page Setup for Header and Footer
-The calculation will create an extra column which I put at the top as a Page Item
-This will force the user to enter the UserID they are logged in to Discoverer with.
-This is case sensative. Therefore, since all Databe IDs are stored on the Database in all-caps, then the user will have to enter in all caps as well.

• How to pass variables inside onRelease = function() ?

Hi all
I am creating MCs through a loop, but I want to assign an
onRelease function to each created MC, in
that same loop. And I need to use the variables from the loop
into the function...
So I tried this:
for(var sVar in flashVars){
i++;
var mcName = sVar.substr(0,3);
// create the MCs:
duplicateMovieClip(_root.testBut,"medium"+sVar,i);
_root["medium"+sVar].testText.text=sVar;
// assign the function to each created MC:
_root["medium"+sVar].onRelease = function(){
_root[mcName]._x=0;
The problem is that the variable "mcName" is not passed into
the function. How do I solve this?

thanks but this does not work.
I think that the problem is that the variables defined in the
for loop do not exist in the scope of
the function.
when the MC is clicked, and the onRelease function says:
_root[mcName]._x=0;
the variable "mcName" is empty.

• How to include variable "assigned to" values in quick search

Hi!
The values available in field "assigned to" (agent inbox), vary depending on settings in PPOMA_CRM.
I can see different teams or even nothing.
When I try to define a quick search (TX: CRMC_IC_AUI_QUICKS), the field "assigned to" has two values: Me and My groups. Looks like this values are fixed, as they do not vary if I change my assignments in PPOMA_CRM.
Does that mean that we cannot define any other values in quick search, and that we have to manually choose them in inbox?
Thanks,
Borut

• Oracle POC - how to include variable in data source and reference it

from style sheet? We need to automatically print Supplier name on Oracle Contract Terms Template signatures section. Presently it needs to be entered by hand and it is not optimal because Supplier name exists on a purchasing document.
Thanks in advance!

It's not very intuitive to do this sort of thing in a batch file. If you have the option to use PowerShell instead, I'd highly recommend it. It's the new way for performing command-line tasks in Windows, and there's no need to struggle with the old command
prompt anymore.
Here are PowerShell and batch examples of doing this type of string parsing:
# PowerShell:
$dataDirectory = Get-Content .\test.txt |
ForEach-Object {
if ($_ -match '^\s*data directory\.*:\s*(.+?)\s*$')
$matches[1]
break
$dataDirectory
# Batch file:
@echo off
setlocal EnableDelayedExpansion
set DATA_DIRECTORY=
for /F "tokens=1,* delims=:" %%a in (test.txt) do (
set PROPERTY=%%a
set PROPERTY=!PROPERTY:~0,14!
if /I "!PROPERTY!" equ "data directory" (
set DATA_DIRECTORY=%%b
:RemovingSpaces
if "%DATA_DIRECTORY:~0,1%" neq " " goto :SpacesRemoved
set DATA_DIRECTORY=%DATA_DIRECTORY:~1%
goto :RemovingSpaces
:SpacesRemoved
echo %DATA_DIRECTORY%
endlocal
