How to increase patricion HD space with Bootcamp?

After installing windows on BOOTCAMP I realize I need more space for OSX.
Everything works fine, games and apps, but OSX got far too crowded
Any way to rearrange the spaces without formating or using external apps?
My specs...
Help is very much appreciated

Thank you Turbostar, yes after wasting my time trying to find a free option, I bought Camptune for 20 bucks, over and done in about 15 minutes, great software happy I bought it!

You'll probably need to backup or clone the remaining OS X partition, definitely clone the bootcamp partition then erase and reformat the drive. You'll need a 3rd party app.

hi you should delete drive D and then extend drive C .
for this purpose copy data form D to external Drive or C (if there is enough space)
and the go to disk management and the delete volume D and then extend drive C as you like

  • How to increase the Heap space of Jdeveloper for about more than 512 MB?

When starting JDeveloper, the application within JDeveloper is throwing the error message:
"could not reserve enough space for object heap"
and a windows popup with the following error message:
"Unable to create an instance of the Java Virtual Machine Located at path: ..\..\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll "
To resolve these issues, i know that adding the following in ide.conf , jdev.conf will help.
    AddVMOption -XX:MaxPermSize=512M
    AddVMOption -Xmx512M
    AddVMOption -Xms512M
I have got 10 GB of RAM in my desktop machine and virtual memory of 15 GB (page size). I am not able to increse the heap space of Jdeveloper for about more than 512MB. This is really frustrating..I had to restart my jdevloper after 3 or 4 deployments.....Has anyone tried success in increasing the heap space in jdeveloper for about 2 GB?
    Regards
    Prasath.C

Yes, i know that -XX:MaxPermSize has nothing to do with Heap Memory. I Just pasted all my configuration settings to know if some thing or the other has caused the issue.... After hearing few people who increased the heap space to more than 512m , i played with those settings again and figured out few things...Mine is Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4, 64 bit Windows 7 environment, 64 bit Java/ JDK.
First, i was deceived by one suggestion in forum that, keeping max and min heap memory to same size always will yield in good performance...From that time on wards, i was always increasing both and was never able to move more than 512m..But this time, i kept the min memory as constand and kept on changing the max memory ..
    Jdev.conf
    AddVMOption -XX:MaxPermSize=512M
AddVMOption -Xmx972M (I was never able to increase more than this size, though i have around 10GB RAM, if not Jdev doesnt startup)
    AddVMOption -Xms512M
    Ide.conf
AddVMOption -Xmx2048M (here i was able to increase)
    AddVMOption -Xms512M
But even then, i was not seeing my changed settings at the time of deployment...
    starting weblogic with Java version:
    java version "1.6.0_21"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_21-b51)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 17.0-b17, mixed mode)
    Starting WLS with line:
    C:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\JDK160~1\bin\java -client -Xms512m -Xmx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -Dweblogic.Name=DefaultServer ..........
    Then i changed again into
    setDomainEnv.cmd of my default domain
    set USER_MEM_ARGS=-Xms512m -Xmx2048m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m
Then i stared my deployment...this time i could see a real boost in deployment...and my page was launched in a fraction of minute..
    tarting weblogic with Java version:
    java version "1.6.0_21"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_21-b51)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 17.0-b17, mixed mode)
    Starting WLS with line:
    C:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\JDK160~1\bin\java -client -Xms512m -Xmx2048m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -Dweblogic.Name=DefaultServer ..........
This is my working configuration....Thanks guys for your replies.....

  • How to increase java heap space on BIEE 10.1.3.3.1

    Hi All,
    I am using BIEE 10.1.3.3.1.
while doing bursting i am getting java heap space error. how can i increase java heap space.
Please anyone explain how to increase .. its very urgent
    Regards

Yes, but I have not one, but TWO configurations.
One configuration named StateTEDSTest points at the DataSource named teds_proxy_tedsdev_dasis8. Another named StateTEDSProd points at the DataSource named teds_proxy_teds_dasis8.
What you seem to be saying is that I should only have one configuration, point it at a DataSource named, say, teds_proxyDS, then make teds_proxyDS reference the test database on the test application and the production database on the production application. I agree that that would probably work, but it negates any benefit of being able to define more than one configuration.
What I asked is, how do I tell one deployment to use the configuration named StateTEDSTest, and another to use the configuration named StateTEDSProd?
Looks like I'm not the first to ask this - see this thread:
    basic deployment question
    Unfortunately, no answer there either.

  • How to eliminate windows partition created with bootcamp

Instrucdtions for how to eliminate a windows partition created with bootcamp.  thanks

Go back and reread and open the application you used.
though most Mac Pro owners choose to dedicate a drive to Windows.
Even Disk Utility will remove and then stretch the adjoining partiton it is best to use Boot Camp Assistant.
Best place to ask, Boot Camp forum, of course.

  • How should I upgrade hard drive with bootcamp partition & Parallels too

I need to replace the hard drive in my 24" iMac (model 8,1 - early 2008).  My major concern is how to deal with my Windows XP in Parallels using a Bootcamp partition.  I have yet to find software that runs in OSX 7 (Lion) that will clone both the OSX partition and the Bootcamp NTFS partition.  It would appear that the most practical approach would be to use bootcamp assistant to remove the NTSF bootcamp partition and then clone just the OSX partition to my new drive and then recreate the bootcamp and parallels installations and reinstall Windows XP from scratch.   Seems rather inelegant, so I'm hoping someone has advice based on experience.  I'm truly hoping there is a more elegant way and any suggestions are appreciated.

Kinda sticky, but there is a way.  You'll need three separate tools for the job:
The External Hard Disk: Indispensable.  Get one that's at least 2x bigger than your current internal drive.  You'll need it as an interim storage point
Winclone:  This free software will allow you to image the Boot Camp volume.  Since the developers closed shop, it's off to MacUpdate for a copy. Run it and clone the data to the external drive
Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.3: Same as above, but for your OS X volume.  This essentially puts a slick front-end on Disk Utility's cloning powers, but it really works well.  Get it at http://www.bombich.com/
    As for restoring the volumes:
Restore the Mac side first from Snow Leopard, using the created image from CCC.  Let it take up the full of the new drive
Now, run Boot Camp Assistant to size up a new Windows volume. You should not need to reload Windows--that's where Winclone comes in.
Use Winclone to recover the XP side now, and if necessary, resize the volume.
If done correctly, you'll keep XP as you update to Lion on the Mac side--but you can't upgrade the drivers past 3.2.

  • How to increase usable address space for 9.2 Oracle on RHEL4

    9.2 (on RHEL4):
The customer is using huge pages and also used VLM until switching the CPUs from Dual-Core to Quad-Core architecture
In his research he has found the following supported procedures:
    - 10gR2 has already increased SGA limit for 32bit Linux 3,42 GB without VLM option.
    - 10gR1 has an option to increase it by changing the address space and relinking the libraries.
    - 9iR2 has the same option. But all that i have found in Metalink/Google is for RHEL 2.1 release.
The customer has removed VLM and now has the SGA within 32-bit Linux limit for 9i - 2.7 GB. They are considering moving to 64-bit architecture, but before that they are looking for a way to achieve in 9.2 the increasing of the SGA on RHEL4.
They are looking for a similar procedure as the one described in 200266.1. In this note they only mention RHEL 2.1. Is there a supported way to do this on RHEL 4 release?

There are all kinds of optimisations listed here, which are not all directly related to each other:
-Huge Pages: huge pages is the page size of the memory allocation done on the operating system layer. the reason for using hugepages is because the PTE table decreases because the number of PTE entries decreases when the size is larger.
-VLM: vlm is actually an oracle naming of using PAE, physical address extention. Using PAE means using addressable space beyond the normal 32-bit addressing is used, which is usable because of a trick on the processor level.
-switching from dual core to quad core: this switching means the operating system sees more processors (which is also a trick, because the number of CPU's is not increases, only the number of core's on the processor), which means the system is most likely able to do more processing in the same time.
-using 3.42GB: this can mean two things
-a) it means the oracle executable base address is lowered (which is already done for 10g by default)
-b) the hugemem kernel is used which has a 4:4 kernel split, instead of a 3:1 kernel split.
so the real question is: what is it you are looking for to use this? and are you sure you achieve that by increasing the SGA?
to be able to help your customer, please diagnose what you want to achieve, instead of just apply all kinds of technique which seem to be doing something with performance.

  • How do I install windows 7 with bootcamp on Mac mini from USB

I have read every help thread and tried them all but nothing seems to work.  Here is what I've tried.
    1.  Running each step in bootcamp multiple times and individually.
    2.  Two different ISO files downloaded from the win7 community.  Links I found on these forums.
    3.  When the "no bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key" is on the screen I have tried a hard wired keyboard.
    4.  I've tried every USB slot on the machine.
    5.  Shocking myself with a dog collar to get a bright idea.
Nothing has worked, especially 5.  If someone can see what I am doing wrond or knows a way to fix it, please let me know.

have you tried rebooting holding the alt key and booting into your windows drive?

  • How to increase the heap space size -is there any parameter to pass to JVM

I created a memory buffering module which can be use to buffer log records and write to hard disk.disk writing is done by a separate thread so the main application won't be delayed. and memory for new errors are allocated dynamically. when i test this it gave this exception Exception in thread "Thread-62" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space then I test 100,000 of log records at a time and sleep the thread for 1 second to let the garbage collector do its job this works fine. but when i increase the log records count further it gave the above error. so i want to know whether is there a way to give the heap memory size to the VM as a parameter before running it.

  • How to fill the left space with blank rows in jTable?

I have a master/detail BC4J/JClient application. The jTable has space to display up to 10 detail records. If I currently have 3 detail records, I want to display the three and have 7 blank lines for additional input on the form. Any suggestions on the best way to handle this.
I think it is a common requirement in an application with a jTable.
Can anyone give a hint for me to handle that issue best?

Adding 7 blank lines is impossible and if it was possible it is not the correct way to do what you need to do.
The appropriate thing is to add a JUNavigatorBar to act on the detail table and by this you will be able to add new lines in the table if needed.
One more important thing, take care to add your table to a scroller object that will enhance your table with the scrolling ability if you have more lines the table can display.
    hope it helps

  • How Many OS can I install with BootCamp?

I am thinking of installing the following on my MacPro, all at the same time:
    1. OSX - which is currently the only OS installed
    2. Windows XP
    3. Windows 7
    4. Another install of OSX from the disks that came with my MacPro.
Is any of this possible before I start messing around?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Chaz

Mac Pro? you can have Windows (different version, or linux, etc) on each drive.
Use the "older first" when installing, and Windows will present its own boot menu.
VMs work great on Mac Pro with enough RAM and cores.
Boot Camp is designed more for the "one internal hard drive" iMac/MacBook family, all it is is a partition tool.
You can have a 1TB drive with 7, Vista, XP.
And, you can install Windows 7 without resorting to Boot Camp Assistant at all, format the drive in Windows 7 DVD anyway, as 7 creates its own 100MB system recovery partition.

Pick yourself up by your own bootstrap too?
Reinstall after restoring to HFS only then.
You want something that works, then spend the $20 on Paragon CampTune or WinClone 3.
