How to initialize variable? (ArrayList String [])

How to initialize this variable correctly, without getting a type safety warning?
ArrayList<String>[] var = ?
Thanks & Best regards,

I need to use an array in this case... Thanks for
your advice anyway...And the answer still is arrays and generics don't mix so your request is impossible without ignoring the warning.
Try@SuppressWarnings("unchecked")
ArrayList<String>[] var = new ArrayList[10];

My bpel project flow is as follows.
First, I initalize the temp varialbe like this.
<assign name="setInitialVar">
<copy>
<from>
<ns1:selEmpOutput xmlns:ns1="http://lgesoa.lge.com/EmpSpec/types">
<ns1:EMPNO/>
<ns1:ENAME/>
<ns1:JOB/>
<ns1:MGR/>
<ns1:HIREDATE/>
<ns1:SAL/>
<ns1:COMM/>
<ns1:DEPTNO/>
</ns1:selEmpOutput>
</from>
<to variable="tempVariable" part="payload"
query="/ns1:selEmpOutputCollection/ns1:selEmpOutput"/>
</copy>
</assign>
Second, get Data(ex. 10 Employee Information List) from DB for useing Java embedded activity.
Third, assing employee info to tempVariable, then BPEL assign just only one Employee Information. and next data can't assign and the BPEL make an error.
here is my error message..

• How to convert a "text variable" to String with plugin

Hello,
I am currently developing a InDesign (CS5) plugin, where I need to manipulate text variable.
From the plugin I want to convert the "text variable" to string (in principle I should use the method "VariableToString (..)" of "ITextVariable")"
My problem is, how to find the text varial from its name (I think I should use the method "FindLocationsUsed(..)" of "ITextVariableSuite") and then convert it to String
I don't know how to use interfaces ITextVariable and ITextVariableSuite
Plugin implemented in C++ language
thank you

• How to convert an int variable into String type

hi everybody
i want to know how to convert an interger variable into string variable
i have to implement a code which goes like this
Chioce ch;
for(int i=0;i<32;i++)
// here i need a code to convert the int variable i into a string variable
ch.add(String variable);
how do i convert that int variable i into a String type variable??
can anyone help me?

Different methods:
int a;
string s=a+"";or
String.valueOf(int) is the better option because Int.toString() generated an intermediate object to get the endresult

• How to use Multimaps (Map String, ArrayList String )

I was using an array to store player names, userIDs, uniqueIDs, and frag counts, but after reading about multimaps in the tutorials, it seems that would be much more efficient. However, I guess I don't quite understand it. Here's how I wanted things stored in my string array:
String[] connectedUsers = {"user1_name", "user1_userid", "user1_uniqueid", "user1_frags"
"user2_name"...}and here is how I'm attempting to setup and use the 'multimap':
public class Main {
static Map<String, ArrayList<String>> connectedUsers;
public void updatePlayers(String name, String status) {
String[] statusSplit = status.split(" ");
if (connectedUsers.containsKey(name)) {
connectedUsers.put(name, statusSplit[0]);
else {
connectedUsers.put(name, statusSplit[0]);
}It's quite obvious I don't understand how this works, but should I even set this multimap up this way? Perhaps I should use a regular map with a string array for the values?

You're cool MrOldie. Its just that alarm bells start ringing in my head when people come on and post as much as you do.

• How to create dynamic connection string with variables using ssis.

Hello,
Can anyone let me know on how to create dynamic connection string with variables using ssis?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi vinay9738,
According to your description, you want to connect multiple database from multiple servers using dynamic connection.
If in this case, we can create a Table in our local database (whatever DB we want) and load all the connection strings. We can use Execute SQL Task to query all the connection strings and store the result-set in a variable of object type in SSIS package.
Then use ForEach Loop container to shred the content of the object variable and iterate through each of the connection strings. And then Place an Execute SQL task inside ForEach Loop container with the SQL statements we have to run in all the DB instances.
For more details, please refer to the following blog:
http://sql-developers.blogspot.kr/2010/07/dynamic-database-connection-using-ssis.html
If there are any other questions, please feel free to let me know.

• How do i get a String out of an ArrayList?

I was trying to make a list I could grow and I was informed that arrays couldn't grow, an ArrayList was suggested.
This seems like it will work perfectly except for the fact that I can't retrieve a String from the ArrayList.
I'm getting errors like incompatible type String:Object or expected:[] found ArrayList.
I tried .toString but that just gives me a bunch of giberish.
Any advice would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Hans.

Ok, so, i guess here is some code you can run, it should run.
I guess I want to know how to get each individual string out of the list one at a time.
package arraylistone;
import javax.swing.JFrame;
import java.util.ArrayList;
import javax.swing.JLabel;
public class Main extends JFrame
JLabel label = new JLabel();
ArrayList list = new ArrayList();
public Main()
String str = "test";
String str2 = "test2";
list.add(str);
list.add(str2);
label.setText("Not Working");
label.setText(list.toArray().toString());
getContentPane().add( label);
public static void main(String[] args)
Main frame = new Main();
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation( EXIT_ON_CLOSE );
frame.pack();
frame.setLocationRelativeTo( null );
frame.setVisible(true);

• How to know pro-grammatically variable type(string ,numeric ....) of TestStand variable using CVI

Hi,
how to know pro-grammatically variable type(string ,numeric ....) of TestStand variable using Labwindows CVI.
Thanks
Mukesh Kumar

Mukesh,
You could use the TS_PropertyGetType() function in CVI to do this. Here is a reference page for the GetType function--you can see that it returns a PropertyValueType which will indicate which type the PropertyObject (variable) is. In CVI, you'll find this function in the NI TestStand API 2013 instrument methods, under PropertyObject > Static Properties.
Hope it helps, and let us know if you have any more questions about it!

• How to search for particular string in array?

I am struggling to figure out how to search array contents for a string and then delete the entry from the array if it is found.
The code for a program that allows the user to enter up to 20 inventory items (tools) is posted below; I apologize in advance for it as I am also not having much success grasping the concept of OOP and I am certain it is does not conform although it all compiles.
Anyway, if you can provide some assistance as to how to go about searching the array I would be most grateful. Many thanks in advance..

Ok, so you have an array of Strings. And if the string you are searching for is in the array, you need to remove it from the array.
Is that right?
Can you use an ArrayList<String> instead of a String[ ]?
To find it, you would just do:
for (String item : myArray){
if (item.equals(searchString){
// remove the element. Not trivial for arrays, very easy for ArrayList
}Heck, with an arraylist you might be able to do the following:
arrayList.remove(arrayList.indexOf(searchString));[edit]
the above assumes you are using 1.5
uses generics and for each loop
[edit2]
and kinda won't work it you have to use an array since you will need the array index to be able to remove it. See the previous post for that, then set the value in that array index to null.

• How do I copy the string portion of an enum into the string portion of a cluster?

I want to do this for the an entire array of clusters. I'm trying to use a for loop. Can't figure out how to parse the string portion of the enum into the string portion of the cluster.
Alternatively, I'd be happy if I could figure out some way to tie the enum to the array of clusters, but I figure that gets problematic.

OK, let's say that the enumerated type has N elements. I want to initialize an N element array of strings. How do I reference each string in the enumerated type to get to each string?
Easy way to do this is to use GetNumericInfo.vi, part of the Variant library, found in vi.lib\utility\VariantDataType\GetNumericInfo.vi. Wire your enumeration to the Variant input; one of the outputs is an array of the strings in the enumerated type.
The more complicated way is a for loop, in which you typecast the iterator terminal value to the enumerated type, then use Format Value. You can get the maximum value of the enumeration by casting 0 to the enumerated type, then decrementing; cast that back to a numeric and add one to get the right value to wire to the N terminal.
EDIT: just thought I'd add, since RavensFan's reply popped up while I was writing mine - I don't like the Strings[] approach because it doesn't work on RT targets, and I lost a lot of time once due to this trying to figure out why my code wouldn't run properly on an RT system but worked great on my development computer.

• How to determine the connection string to a SQLite database, in C# code

Hello. I'm trying to figure out how to specify the connection string to a SQLite database, I would like to access using the following code:
string connectionString = null;
SqlConnection connection;
SqlCommand command;
SqlDataAdapter adapter = new SqlDataAdapter();
DataSet ds1 = new DataSet();
string sql = "SELECT DataName, Data, Id, UserId, DateLastUpdated FROM MainTable";
connectionString = "Data Source=C:\\SQLITEDATABASES\\SQLITEDB1.sqlite;Version=3;";
connection = new SqlConnection(connectionString);
try
connection.Open();
command = new SqlCommand(sql, connection);
catch
The value I assigned to the variable connectionString, in the code above, I obtained somewhere from the Internet. It does not work. I'm using Visual Studio 2013, against the file sqlite-netFx451-setup-bundle-x86-2013-1.0.96.0.exe, which
I installed, and got from
here.
My application's App.config file looks as follows:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<configuration>
<configSections>
</configSections>
<connectionStrings>
<add name="DC_Password_Saver.Properties.Settings.DC_Password_SaverConnectionString" connectionString="data source="C:\Users\patmo_000\Documents\Visual Studio 2013\Projects\DC Password Saver\DC Password Saver\DC Password Saver.db"" providerName="System.Data.SQLite.EF6"/>
</connectionStrings>
<startup>
<supportedRuntime version="v4.0" sku=".NETFramework,Version=v4.5.1"/>
</startup>
</configuration>
I tried to use the value assigned to connectionString in the XML settings above, replacing single backslash characters with double backslash characters, because the Visual Studio editor flagged them as unrecognizable, and wound up with the
following.
SqlDataAdapter adapter = new SqlDataAdapter();
DataSet ds1 = new DataSet();
string sql = "SELECT DataName, Data, Id, UserId, DateLastUpdated FROM MainTable";
connectionString = "data source="C:\\Users\\patmo_000\\Documents\\Visual Studio 2013\\Projects\\DC Password Saver\\DC Password Saver\\DC Password Saver.db"";
connection = new SqlConnection(connectionString);
The above code however does not work either. So again, does anyone know how I can specify in C# code, a connection string to access my SQLite database? Thanks in advance for your reply.

What does SQLite connection strings has to do with WPF?
You will find some valid connection strings here:
https://www.connectionstrings.com/sqlite/
But you cannot use the SqlConnection class to connect to a SQLite database. You will need to download and add a reference to the System.Data.SQLite library and then use the SQLiteConnection class:
connection = new System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteConnection(connectionString);
try
connection.Open();
command = new System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteCommand(sql, connection);
catch
Please refer to the following article for more information and an example of how to connect and read and write data from an SQLite database using C#:
http://blog.tigrangasparian.com/2012/02/09/getting-started-with-sqlite-in-c-part-one/.
There is contains a link where you can download the required assemblies.
Hope that helps.

• How to store variable length of data in data dictionary table

hi friends
i want to store variable length of text in one of field of table which is created in data dictionary.
i tried it by declaring table field type as string,
include that table using table statement and try to insert data in abap program . but it gives error something
"cannot use table having deep structure " i don't remember it exactly.
can you help me how to insert variable length of data in text data dictionary table.

Hi,
define field with type LRAW in your table to store
string more than 255 characters.
LRAW
Uninterpreted byte string of arbitrary length, but with a minimum
length of 256. Fields of this type must be located at the end of
tables and must be preceded by a length field of type INT2. LRAW
fields cannot be used in the WHERE condition. LRAW is functional from

• How do I convert a string, and use a string as a property?

I have an array in the following format:
{ownsCar: 'true', ownsBike: 'true', ownsHouse: 'true'}
{ownsCar: 'false', ownsBike: 'true', ownsHouse: 'true'}
{ownsCar: 'true', ownsBike: 'false', ownsHouse: 'true'}
etc ............
And I need to test against each item e.g.
if...
myDataGrid[myItem].ownsCar == Object(myCheckbox).label
... then
if...
myDataGrid[myItem].ownsBike == Object(myCheckbox).label
... then
if...
myDataGrid[myItem].ownsHouse == Object(myCheckbox).label
... then
But I need to build my application where the property (e.g. "ownsCar", "ownsBike", "ownsHouse") is a variable such as:
if...
myDataGrid[myItem].myProperty == Object(myCheckbox).label
... then
I would like to loop through my Array, counting the number of items, and then use each item as a property.
How would I convert the string (e.g. "ownsCar") into a property "myProperty" ???
Many thanks in advance
Chris

Thanks, but my problem is that I won't know what my property will be.
E.g. they could be...
{svnsdkvnsdklvnsdklv: 'true', seuAfnwfnw: 'true', asfwseionf: 'true', etc.................}
and there could be lots of them.
I need to have myObject[N], where N is a variable property for each of the items taken from a variable length array
so...
ownsCar is represented by myObject.[N]
ownsHouse is represented by myObject.[N+1]
ownsBike is represented by myObject.[N+2]
etc
(sorry, this is so difficult to explain when I dont know what the answer is)

• How to create Variables(User Input Selections) in WEBI Report

Hi Team,
My requirement is to create a WEBI Report on top of BEx query,I have created a Universe and WEBI Report on this Universe but my doubt is How to create Variables for the User to select.The Input selection should be
User Iputs(All are drop downs)
Distribution Channel : ->drop down,user can select one
Division: -> drop down,user can select one
Department:
Season:

When the user gives the above selections the output should be displayed as
Material No Description Markdown Week Reason code1(under this) Reason code2(under this) like that for all the
valid from Amount Valid from Amount Reason code.
I have designed the basic layout of the Report but wanted to know how to design like this,Please help me out in this Format.
Thanks & Regards,
Somu

Hi, depending on the way you set this up (it is not entirely clear if you are talking bex variables or report drop down filters), use the following;
For BEX variables, the choice will be in the
UserResponse("prompt message")
this you can display in the message format you want.
For drop down filters the choice will be in the DrillFilters(), this one will show all selections in one string.
However, if you want to format this to a certain message, you need to use the Formula
DrillFilters([object from drill bar])
This will give you the result of just that one selection. If the user did not select (yet), the value will be "".
Hope this helps,
Marianne
