Thanks for any help...... who has done this
Ghanta Tagore

Hi
After some good fight of 3 days, I have done it through Pro*c
This is the way to handle this
Buffer-->Temporary Clob-->XMLTYPE(using CreateXml)
Pasting my piece o code to do this
===============
OCIClobLocator *license_txt;
varchar h_ttt[1024] = {'\0'};
ub4 amt;
int i;
EXEC SQL ALLOCATE :license_txt;
EXEC SQL LOB CREATE TEMPORARY :license_txt ;
GetName(name); /*Gets Name to insert into name column in License Table*/
for(i=0; i<4;i++)
GetXMLL((char *)h_ttt.arr); /*Gets a string value of XML into this example*/
/*<Tagore>Is From TCS Delhi</Tagore>*/
/*This can be changed to get buffer from FILE */
h_ttt.len = strlen((char *)h_ttt.arr);
amt = sizeof(char) * h_ttt.len ;
EXEC SQL LOB WRITE APPEND :amt FROM :h_ttt INTO :license_txt;
EXEC SQL
INSERT INTO license_table VALUES (:sss, :name, sys.xmltype.createXML(:license_txt))

  • How to insert large xml file to XMLType column?

    Hi,
    I have a table with one column as XMLType(Binary XML storage option and Free Text Indexing). When i try to insert a large XML as long as 8kb, i'm getting an error ORA-01704:string literal too long.
    Insert into TEST values(XMLTYPE('xml HERE'));
    How to insert large XML values to XMLType column?
    Regards,
    Sprightee

    For a large XML file, you basically have two options - you can load the string directly as an XMLType, or you can load the string as a CLOB and cast it on the database side to an XMLType.
    If you decide to load the XML as XmlType client-side, then you may be interested to know that versions of Oracle after 11.2.0.2 support the JDBC 4.0 SQLXML standard. See the JDBC driver release documentation here:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18283_01/java.112/e16548/jdbcvers.htm#BABGHBCC
    If you want to load as a CLOB, then you'll need to use PreparedStatement's setClob() method, or allocate an oracle.sql.clob object.
    For versions before 11.2.0.2, you can create an XMLType with a constructor that includes an InputStream or byte[] array.

  • How to import external XML file

    Hello guys:
    From this demo
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/quickstart/accessing_xml_data/#section2
    we know how to use a intrernal XML document. I know there are
    several way to load a external XML like:
    <mx:HTTPService
    id="loadTest"
    useProxy="false"
    showBusyCursor="true"
    resultFormat="xml"
    url="data/login.xml"
    />
    What I want to know is whether I could load a XML file
    directly, not use HTTPService and send. For a instance:
    [Bindable]
    private var login:XML = ("data/login.xml");
    or something like that. And then I could use login.user or
    login. pass .
    Now seems it is easy to control a intrernal XML data. I want
    to import a external XML file and use it like a intrernal XML.
    Thanks a lot

    You only have 2 choices: include the XML as part of the SWF
    using <mx:XML source="filename.xml" /> or load it dynamically
    using a data service such as HTTPService.

  • How to insert large xml file ino xmltype column

    Hi all,
    iam using oracle10g. I have a table example1(key_column varchar2(10),xml_column xmltype) like this. i want to insert xml file from server to xmltype column. Can you please anybody suggest regarding this.wht is the size of the xmltype column. is it same as clob like 2GB or sth different. and one more thing is iam creating one procedure in that procedure , in that we are fetching xmltype value into clob varable. is it correct or not...
    Thanks

    Manipulating a single XMLType of 2GB is probably not sensible period. I'm guessing that the content of a file that big is probably a set of smaller XML documents which someone has wrapped a begin and end tag around. Since databases are good at handling collections of documents (or collections of anything else for that matter), you should consider de-compising the large document back into a set of smaller documents before storing it in the database

  • How to display an xml file contents in jsp as tree view

    hi,
    Iam trying to read an xml file and display the structure in jsp as tree view, can any one help me

    Use a [XML or DOM parser|http://java-source.net/open-source/xml-parsers] to read a XML file into a tree structure of Java objects.
    Use the [Collections API|http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/collections/index.html] to get hold of the relevant elements in a tree structure.
    Use JSTL´s [c:forEach|http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/bnakh.html] tag to iterate over a Collection in JSP.
    Use HTML´s [<ul>/<li>|http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/lists.html#h-10.2] or [<dl>/<dt>/<dd>|http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/lists.html#h-10.3] tags to represent a tree in HTML.

    What are the requirements and steps for arranging to receive this large file using File Transfer Protocol (FTP)?
    Usually, we don't speak of "receive" when using FTP, since the file is transferred from server to client, so it's more of a case of "download".
    At your end, it's simple. You use an FTP client; under SL, that includes Finder and Safari, so you don't even need to get any additional software.
    At the other end, it's more complicated; the 'sender' must set up an FTP server on his machine.
    Alternatively, you can set up your own Mac as an FTP server, and have the 'sender' connect to you with an FTP client and upload the file; but, if your Mac lives behind a router, then you have more work to do with the router settings.
    That's why it's much easier to use the file sharing services mentioned above -- if they are available in both sender's and receiver's locations. (Keep in mind that some countries block access to all those mentioned -- except perhaps <www.transfer.ro>, of which I know absolutely nothing.)

  • How to insert a image file into oracle database

    hi all
    can anyone guide me how to insert a image file into oracle database now
    i have created table using
    create table imagestore(image blob);
    but when inserting i totally lost don't know what to do how to write query to insert image file

    Hi I don't have time to explain really, I did have to do this a while ago though so I will post a code snippet. This is using the commons file upload framework.
    Firstly you need a multi part form data (if you are using a web page). If you are not using a web page ignore this bit.
    out.println("<form name=\"imgFrm\" method=\"post\" enctype=\"multipart/form-data\" action=\"FileUploadServlet?thisPageAction=reloaded\" onSubmit=\"return submitForm();\"><input type=\"FILE\" name=\"imgSource\" size='60' class='smalltext' onKeyPress='return stopUserInput();' onKeyUp='stopUserInput();' onKeyDown='stopUserInput();' onMouseDown='noMouseDown(event);'>");
    out.println("   <input type='submit' name='submit' value='Submit' class='smalltext'>");
    out.println("</form>"); Import this once you have the jar file:
    import org.apache.commons.fileupload.*;Now a method I wrote to upload the file. I am not saying that this is correct, or its the best way to do this. I am just saying it works for me.
    private boolean uploadFile(HttpServletRequest request, HttpSession session) throws Exception {
            boolean result = true;
            String fileName = null;
            byte fileData[] = null;
            String fileUploadError = null;
            String imageType = "";
            String error = "";
            DiskFileUpload fb = new DiskFileUpload();
            List fileItems = fb.parseRequest(request);
            Iterator it = fileItems.iterator();
            while(it.hasNext()){
                FileItem fileItem = (FileItem)it.next();
                if (!fileItem.isFormField()) {
                    fileName = fileItem.getName();
                    fileData = fileItem.get();
                    // Get the imageType from the filename extension
                    if (fileName != null) {
                        int dotPos = fileName.indexOf('.');
                        if (dotPos >= 0 && dotPos != fileName.length()-1) {
                            imageType = fileName.substring(dotPos+1).toLowerCase();
                            if (imageType.equals("jpg")) {
                                imageType = "jpeg";
            String filePath = request.getParameter("FILE_PATH");
            session.setAttribute("filePath", filePath);
            session.setAttribute("fileData", fileData);
            session.setAttribute("fileName", fileName);
            session.setAttribute("imageType", imageType);
            return result;
         } And now finally the method to actually write the file to the database:
    private int writeImageFile(byte[] fileData, String fileName, String imageType, String mode, Integer signatureIDIn, HttpServletRequest request) throws Exception {
            //If the previous code found a file that can be uploaded then
            //save it into the database via a pstmt
            String sql = "";
            UtilDBquery udbq = getUser(request).connectToDatabase();
            Connection con = null;
            int signatureID = 0;
            PreparedStatement pstmt = null;
            try {
                udbq.setUsePreparedStatements(true);
                con = udbq.getPooledConnection();
                con.setAutoCommit(false);
                if((!mode.equals("U")) || (mode.equals("U") && signatureIDIn == 0)) {
                    sql = "SELECT SEQ_SIGNATURE_ID.nextval FROM DUAL";
                    pstmt = con.prepareStatement(sql);
                    ResultSet rs = pstmt.executeQuery();
                    while(rs.next()) {
                       signatureID = rs.getInt(1);
                    if (fileName != null && imageType != null) {
                        sql = "INSERT INTO T_SIGNATURE (SIGNATURE_ID, SIGNATURE) values (?,?)";
                        InputStream is2 = new ByteArrayInputStream(fileData);

                        pstmt.setBinaryStream(2, is2, (int)(fileData.length));
                        pstmt.executeUpdate();
                        pstmt.close();
                        con.commit();
                        con = null;
                if(mode.equals("U") && signatureIDIn != 0) {
                    signatureID = signatureIDIn.intValue();
                    if (fileName != null && imageType != null) {

  • How can I transfer a XML file content to a MS SQL database by stored procedure using LabWindows/CVI SQL Toolkit?

    Hi,
    I have a problem to transfer a XML file content to a MS SQL database by a given/fixed stored procedure. I'm able to transfer the content of the file by using following method ...
    hstmt = DBPrepareSQL (hdbc, EXEC usp_InsertReport '<Report> ..... </Report>');
    resCode = DBExecutePreparedSQL (hstmt);
    resCode = DBClosePreparedSQL (hstmt);
    ... but in this case I'm not able to fetch the return value of the stored procedure!
    I have tried to follow the example of the stored procedure in the help documentation (DBPrepareSQL) but I miss a datatype for xml?!?
    Any idea how to solve my problem?
    KR Cake
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    After some additional trials I found a solution by calling the stored procedure in this way
    DBSetAttributeDefault (hdbc, ATTR_DB_COMMAND_TYPE, DB_COMMAND_STORED_PROC);
    DBPrepareSQL (hdbc, "usp_InsertReport");
    DBCreateParamInt (hstmt, "", DB_PARAM_RETURN_VALUE, -1);
    DBCreateParamChar (hstmt, "XMLCONTENT", DB_PARAM_INPUT, sz_Buffer, (int) strlen(sz_Buffer) + 1 );
    DBExecutePreparedSQL (hstmt);
    DBClosePreparedSQL (hstmt);
    DBGetParamInt (hstmt, 1, &s32_TestId);
    where sz_Buffer is my xml file content and s32_TestID the return value of the stored procdure (usp_InsertReport(@XMLCONTENT XML))
    Now I face the problem, that DBCreateParamChar limits the buffer size to 8000 Bytes.
    Any idea to by-pass this shortage??

    Hi friends
    Can any one please let me know how to insert a pdf file into a table from a dynamic location in server. Why dynamic locations on the server?
    Make it a business case that the files should be stored in specific location(s).
    Oracle uses directory objects to point to locations on the file system and, whilst these locations can be altered, it is better practice to set up specific locations and grant permission to the correct users for those locations so that there is full control over who is accessing what on the server. Whilst filenames may be dynamic, I wouldn't recommend using dynamic locations.

  • How to insert a gif file into a table?

    Hi,
    I need to insert a gif file into a table. Can anyone tell me where I can find the information on how to create this kind of table, how to insert a gif file into a table and how to select?
    Thanks,
    Helen

    Hi Helen,
    You could read about that in the documentation which is available online.
    For a starter: BLOB. And I bet there are many examples to be found on the web.
    Good luck. :)

  • How to import the xml file into bcc?

    My input file to atg is xml which contain category or products assets.
    I want the scheduler to run in such a way that it should auto create a project and send an email to client for approval.
    When the client approves the xml file,then run the scheduler to input the xml file datas into bcc.
    i will be using : SingletonSchedulableService for this
    Give me a guidance for the same.
    Thanks in advance.

    I want to implement this in bcc.
    Which listener will listen for the approval of the client for the email (which contains the xml to import)we sent to him?
    You would have to do custom development to hook your custom workflow with the inbound email. For sending email notifications the action is already there and while creating its element in ACC you can specify a JSP for the email template. You may refer following relevant documentation:
    Oracle ATG Web Commerce - Workflows
    Oracle ATG Web Commerce - Workflow Action Elements
    I recommend to refer the existing DeploymentEmailer source in <ATG>\Publishing\samples\Java and see different DeploymentEvent types and states can be used based on your requirement in your custom component. Also refer these API javadocs to know about the available deployment events and process:
    DeploymentEvent (ATG Java API)
    DeploymentServer (ATG Java API)
    ATG does have a /atg/dynamo/service/POP3Service component to retrieve mails from a POP3 e-mail server but it is primarily used for detecting the bounced email. Not too sure if it would help or fit in your case but still you can go through about its details to know what is already there:
    Oracle ATG Web Commerce - Bounced E-mail
    You may also refer to the InboundEmail event and API javadocs for InboundEmailMessage which are used in this bounced email detection feature:
    Oracle ATG Web Commerce - InboundEmail Event
    InboundEmailMessage (ATG Java API)
    Now based on all this, if you extend and customize a lot of things it would be bit complex and tedious to detect the inbound approval mail based on its content and then advance your workflow. Another approach can be to put a URL in the mail template of your notification email which the approver would have to click and on the landing page you can authenticate and advance your custom workflow as required.

  • How to read an external XML file in a indesign Plugin?

    Hi All,
    Can you please guide in reading an external XML file in a indesign Plugin in MAC system. I am an windows user.We are using this file for reading some inputs.
    Thanks,

    Hello Daniel,
    I am uncertain about the actual question. If you are developing a plug-in or otherwise interfacing with the guts of ID, I suggest asking the question in the SDK forum:
    InDesign SDK Forum
    Otherwise, what is it you are wanting to know concerning importing XML into InDesign?
