How to insert huge XML in CLOB using insert command in sql*plus....

How to upload huge XML into a CLOB column of a normal table using a script?
A simple insert statement does not seem to work.
Thanks & regards.

In SQL *Plus i'm trying to insert directly into the table.
My insert statement is like below :
Insert into ui_templates
(TEMPLATE_ID, TEMPLATE_NAME, CUSTOMER_ID, DESCRIPTION, XML_CONTENT)
Values
(1, 'Default', 1, 'Main Default Template', '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><xoraLayout:Layout name="MyLayout" version="1.0" ................<3357> chars long');

  • How to return two XML result sets using the function

    Hi Experts,
    Thanks.

So that I want to return two XML result sets if the query returns more than 50,000 records.
One XML result set with 50,000 and another XML result set with remaining records.
How to incorporate this in my function.
Have the function return a collection of CLOB then.
DBMS_XMLGEN can handle pagination so it's easy to adapt your existing code.

Post the 4 digit Oracle version.
Did you read the Doc for DBMS_LOB.CONVERTTOCLOB? - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28419/d_lob.htm
The function can convert data from one character set to another. If the source data uses a different character set than the target you need to provide the character set id of the source data.
The blob_csid parameter is where you would provide the value for the source character set.
If the source and target use the same character set then just pass zero. Your code is passing a one.
    >
    General Notes
You must specify the character set of the source data in the blob_csid parameter. You can pass a zero value for blob_csid. When you do so, the database assumes that the BLOB contains character data in the same character set as the destination CLOB.
    >
Same for 'lang_context' - your code is using 1; just use 0. It is an IN OUT
    >
    lang_context
(IN) Language context, such as shift status, for the current conversion.
(OUT) The language context at the time when the current conversion is done.
This information is returned so you can use it for subsequent conversions without losing or misinterpreting any source data. For the very first conversion, or if do not care, use the default value of zero.

  • Terminal - how to find my external hard drive using unix commands

just discovered terminal and using cd and ls commands, which are the only commands i know, i realized that i can't find my external hard drive. i thought it would be listed on my desktop, as it is in the OSX interface, but it isn't there.
not that im skilled enough to use terminal yet, but i thought the first step would be being able to navigate the computer's files.
really curious as to where my external hard drive is and how i can find it using unix commands in terminal.
i was trying to figure it out myself, then i thought surely someone knows this and could tell me in a sec.

"ls /Volumes" will list all volumes, including internal and external hard drives and mounted disk images. I find "disktool -l" more useful in scripts, as it tells you which volume names correspond to which "mount points" under /Volumes. Usually they're the same, but if you have two volumes with the same name, or you try to remount a removable volume before it is fully unmounted, you'll end up with a mount point that consists of the volume name with a numerical suffix.

  • How to parse/extract XML from clob field using ODI

    Hi,
I am very new to ODI. I have an oracle table which has clob field. This clob field contains xml. I would like to parse this xml and convert it to oracle table. Means I would like to make all the tags of xml as oracle table columns.
I have created a PL/SQL procedure and used XMLTABLE function and I have achieved my goal. The same this I am trying to do with ODI. Since I am new to ODI so any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

In 9.2, you are limited into your options. Have a look into, among others, updateXML. Updating tp 10gR2 will give you more options to succeed.

Below is my xml sample. Right now I use countNodes to count # of <Book> returned.

    <Book>C</Book>
    </ListOfBook>

My countNodes() failed and generated errors. How do I avoid this? Can I detect if <Book> exists first before doing countNodes() and if so how?
    I'm using SOA 11.1.1.2
    Thanks

Actualy the simplest way to be certain your <ListOfBook> is empty is to check the first element:
    If $ListOfBook/Book[1] != ''
If there aqre no Books - nothing happens.
About count nodes - it works. Pb=robably you have a mistake in countNodes definition (you can paste it here for commenting)

  • How to Convert as XML from SGML using FrameMaker

I have SGML files created by FM Structured App. I wanted to convert all these SGML files to XML files and save into Oracle XMLDB database.Any idea, like using FDK or any other way.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks in advance!!!
    Saket

    Saket, Russ,
You may not need the FDK at all. You can put the SGML documents into one directory and then use File > Utilities > Convert Structured Documents (in FM 7) or File > Structure Tools > Utilities > Convert Structured Documents (in FM 8) to import them all into FM. Then use Convert Documents to Structured Format to export the FM versions to XML.
Do all the SGML documents use the same application? Is there an XML version of the DTD available? If you need to create an XML DTD, you can generate it from the EDD, but you may need to change some of the general rules. I often use exclusions in my EDDs as well as general rules with expressions that are not permitted in XML. For example, I may have the general rule:
    title?, (#PCDATA | emphasizedphrase | xref)*
    in the EDD but
    (#PCDATA | title | emphasizedphrase | xref)*
in XML. Thus, the EDD restricts a title to the beginning of the defined element, where the DTD allows titles throughout the content. All content that is valid in FM will be valid in XML. The reverse is not true, but doesn't matter if the editing is being done in FM. I put both expressions in the EDD as general rules but use conditional text to distinguish them. I also make the exclusions conditional. Then I show or hide one set of conditions to import element definitions into FM documents and reverse the show/hide settings to create a DTD from the EDD.
