How to Insert & Return a Row using a Function based on the Input parameter

Hi Guys, Plz help me the following code i am converting from Sql Server to Oracle.
I want equivalent code in Oracle.

RETURNS @DateRange TABLE(StartDate     DATETIME,EndDate DATETIME,[Name] NVARCHAR(500), [Description] Nvarchar(2000) )
AS
IF(LTRIM(RTRIM(@Period)) = 'LQ')
BEGIN
''''CALCULATION
          INSERT INTO @DateRange
                         StartDate,
                         EndDate,
[Name],
[description]
               SELECT     @StartDate,@EndDate,'Last Quarter',
'Last Quarter - '+ Cast(@StartDate as Nvarchar(11))+ ' to '+Cast(@EndDate as Nvarchar(11))
END
     RETURN
END
above Function i am using in another Procedure

               dbo.DateDimension DD,
               dbo.GetDateRange('LY') GDR
     WHERE     DD.DateKeyID = SF.BillDateKeyID AND
               DD.Date >= GDR.StartDate AND
               DD.Date < GDR.EndDate

  • How can I create an empty row on a #TempTable based on an input parameter

    So if my Line of Business is 'MC' or 'MG', I have to go over to Oracle and get its data accordingly. Then, when I create my final report result set, I think I'll want to UNION in that result set if my Parameter is 'MC' or 'MG'. I don't think I can UNION
    based on the value of the Parameter. So my thought process was to create an empty row on my #TempTable so when I UNION and my parameter is NOT 'MC' or 'MG' then it will have nothing to UNION in. My struggle is how do I create an empty row in my #TempTable
    if my parameter is NOT 'MC' or 'MG'
    If I am wwwaaayyy off here, please tell me so.
    This is my #TempTable Creation SQL...

    If I add an ELSE, it always comes back and tells me the #TempTable_Market_Prominence_Member_Data already exists. As if it's creating it regardless of the Top IF.
    Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.

    Hi ITBobbyP,
    The error came back from your ELSE Statement most probably caused by the reason mentioned in Hoffmann's post.
    Regarding your requirement, I would suggest you CREATE the [#TempTable_Market_Prominence_Member_Data] explicitly.
    CREATE TABLE [#TempTable_Market_Prominence_Member_Data]
    NAME_ID INT,
    MEMBER_ID INT,
    HIC_NUMBER VARCHAR(99),
    NAME_FIRST VARCHAR(99),
    NAME_LAST VARCHAR(99),
    START_DATE DATE,
    END_DATE DATE,
    COUNTY_CODE VARCHAR(99),
    PART_A_PAYMENT MONEY,
    PART_B_PAYMENT MONEY,
    STATUS VARCHAR(99),
    ORG_ID INT,
    PALN VARCHAR(99),
    ENROLL_DATE VARCHAR(99),
    PBP_ID INT,
    VALUE INT
    IF EXISTS
    (SELECT 1
    FROM [#TempTable_LineOfBusiness_Parameter]
    WHERE [#TempTable_LineOfBusiness_Parameter].[RESULT] IN ('MC','MG'))
    BEGIN
    INSERT INTO [#TempTable_Market_Prominence_Member_Data]
    SELECT *
    FROM OPENQUERY
    (RPDMHF,
    'SELECT HCFA_NAME_ORG.NAME_ID,
    HCFA_NAME_ORG.MEMBER_ID,
    HCFA_NAME_ORG.HIC_NUMBER,
    MEMBER.NAME_FIRST,
    MEMBER.NAME_LAST,
    HCFA_DATE.START_DATE,
    HCFA_DATE.END_DATE,
    HCFA_NAME_ORG.COUNTY_CODE,
    HCFA_NAME_ORG.PART_A_PAYMENT,
    HCFA_NAME_ORG.PART_B_PAYMENT,
    HCFA_NAME_ORG.STATUS,
    HCFA_NAME_ORG.ORG_ID,
    HCFA_NAME_ORG.PLAN,
    HCFA_NAME_ORG.ENROLL_DATE,

    WHERE HCFA_DATE.INDICATOR = ''plan''
    AND HCFA_DATE.START_DATE >= ''2015-01-01''
    END
    Explicitly creating the temp table will offer below benefit in this case.
    The ELSE statement is no longer needed, if the no rows get inserted into that table, it has nothing to union an empty table.
    With the column datatype defined, you can avoid such conversion error
    SELECT NULL AS COL1,NULL AS COL2 INTO #T
    SELECT COL1,COL2 FROM #T
    UNION
    SELECT 1,'ABC'--Conversion failed when converting the varchar value 'ABC' to data type int.

  • How do I use a FF column as the input parameter to an Oracle Function?

    ... and have the value  returned by the function be written to the target DS.
    I am opening a FF and grabbing an integer from a column.
    I want to map an output column in a temp table to be the returned value of a function call that uses the input column integer as the in parameter.
    Any Ideas? Seems like it should be easy, but everything I try, bombs.

  • How can i dynamically select columns based on the input parameter?

    I have an input parameter which takes single numeric value.
    Based on this value i have to dynamically select table-columns .
    For eg: if i have following fields in my table :
    SEM_1
    SEM_2
    SEM_3 and SEM_4.
    And if i give numeric input as 2 , then i have to select "SEM_2" column only.
    if the input is 3 then i have to select "SEM_3" only and leave the rest of the columns.
    how do i achieve this dynamic feature in the "Select .....  From...... table...." statement in the ABAP??

    Hi,
    you should try something like this.
    TYPES: cond(72) TYPE c.
    data: condtab TYPE TABLE OF cond,
             condw type cond.
    data: lv_field(30) type c value 'SEM_'.
    write p_num to lv_field+4(1).
    condw = lv_field.
    append condw to condtab.
    SELECT (CONDTAB) FROM table INTO.....

  • How to change a region title based upon the input parameter?

    Hi All,
    I need to change the region's title dynamically based on the value of a select list in another region.
    Can anyone help me in this?
    Regards,
    Sakthi.

    Hi,
    You can use &P1_ITEM_NAME. (including the & and the .) in a region title - this string will be replaced by the value from the page item called P1_ITEM_NAME, so change the name to suit your page item

    Hi
    How to insert a new  row in the middle of an set of rows ? and How to Reset the line id after the new row added ?
    Regards,
    Sudhir B.

    Hai,
    just try this,
    Instead of using omatrix.Addrow(1,-1) use like
    omatrix.AddRow( RowCount , Position)
    RowCount
    The number of rows to add (default is 1)
    Position
    The position of the new rows (0-based; default is -1, meaning append row to the end)
    After adding rows in matrix For, sno.
    for i=1 to omatrix.visualrowcount
    otext=omatrix.getcellspecific("columnid",i)  '--where columnid is the unique id of the sno column
    otext.value=i
    next i
    Hope this helps you.

    Dear Sir,
    Accordingly your suggestion I check the SimpleBean class putting the constant values in this bean class.That is Sucessfully Inserted constant values in database.
    Like for example..

    package myfirstjava;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class myfirstjavabean
    private String firstMsg="Hello world";
    private String s="";
    public myfirstjavabean()
    public String getfirstMsg()
    return firstMsg;
    public void setfirstMsg(String firstMsg)
    this.firstMsg=firstMsg;
    public String getissueData() //method that create connection with database
    try
    System.out.println("Printed*************************************************************");
    getfirstMsg();
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    System.out.println("Loading....");
    Connection con=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:sampleMsg");
    System.out.println("Connected....");
    PreparedStatement st=con.prepareStatement("insert into Table1 values(?)");
    System.out.println("~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~");
    String Msg=getfirstMsg();
    st.setString(1,Msg);
    int y= st.executeUpdate();
    System.out.println(y);
    System.out.println("Query Executed");
    con.commit();
    con.close();
    s=  "Your logging is saved in DB ";
    System.out.println("Your logging is saved in DB *****************");
    return this.s;
    catch(Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    return "failed";
    }Vij.jsp:
    <html>
    <body>
    <jsp:useBean id="st" class="myfirstjava.myfirstjavabean" scope="request" />
    <jsp:getProperty name="st" property="firstMsg" />
    <jsp:getProperty name="st" property="issueData" />
    </body>
    </html>These above example sucessfully inserted the Hello World message in database.
    But which value I put user input at run time Its not inserted in database.

  • Returning Mutliple Records using a function

    I followed the instructions as per askTom at http://asktom.oracle.com/~tkyte/ResultSets/index.html

    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected NUMBER got CURSER
    Thanks
    anyhelp will be appreciated.
    Juan

    I thought that using a function will be the easyest Wrong. The easiest is definitely a sub-query:
    SELECT * FROM licences
    WHERE licence_id IN
        (  SELECT licence_id FROM table_1
           WHERE trading_name = 'ALBERTSON'
           UNION ALL
           SELECT licence_id FROM table_2
           WHERE business_name = 'ALBERTSON')The above is a template, which you will need to tweak to fit your needs.
    If you really want to do that in a function you could consider using a PIPELINED function that returns an array of licence IDs and use a TABLE() function on that. But I wouldn't recommend it unless you have additional processing which cannot be done in a SELECT statement.
    What does it mean "between program units"?Between two discrete program, er , units. The canonical example is a database accessor for a web application. A Java bean (or whatever) passes parameters to a stored procedure (function) which executes a query and returns a resultset in the form of a ref cursor. Of course the program units can be two PL/SQL procedures but I think that is less common.
    Cheers, APC

  • Unable to get the SharePoint 2013 List names using Client object model for the input URL

    Please can you help with this issue.
    We are not able to get the SharePoint 2013 List names using Client object model for the input URL.
    What we need is to use default credentials to authenticate user to get only those list which he has access to.
    clientContext.Credentials = Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials
    But in this case we are getting error saying ‘The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.’
    Instead of passing Default Credentials, if we pass the User credentials using:
    clientContext.Credentials = New Net.NetworkCredential("Administrator", "password", "contoso")
    It authenticates the user and works fine. Since we are developing a web part, it would not be possible to pass the user credentials. Also, the sample source code works perfectly fine on the SharePoint 2010 environment. We need to get the same functionality
    working for SharePoint 2013.
    We are also facing the same issue while authenticating PSI(Project Server Interface) Web services for Project Server 2013.
    Can you please let us know how we can overcome the above issue? Please let us know if you need any further information from our end on the same.
    Sample code is here: http://www.projectsolution.com/Data/Support/MS/SharePointTestApplication.zip

    Hi Mistry,
    I sure that CSOM will authenticate without passing the
    "clientContext.Credentials = Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials" by default. It will take the current login user credentials by default. For more details about the CSOM operations refer the below link.

    Hello Oracle!
    I've got problems using two function based indexes on geometries at once.
    The problem occures, when I use a spatial join between two geometries both using function based indexes.

    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION getQuad (centroid NUMBER) RETURN MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY DETERMINISTIC IS

    hi there,
    For a better audience for this question, I'd look at the database forum.
    guys on that will be a lot more familiar with FBIs

  • Error using LISTAGG function to aggregate the strings.

    HI
    I am using LISTAGG function to aggregate the strings but throws a error ORA - 19011
    The output of the aggregated function exeeds the varchar limit.
    I dont know how to change it to a LOB.
    Can you please help me.
    This is the code.
    I have used both the functions.
    RTRIM(XMLAGG(XMLELEMENT(e,FDCT.USER_NAME || ' ')).extract('//text()'), ' ')
    or
    LISTAGG(FDCT.USER_NAME, ',') WITHIN GROUP (ORDER BY FDCT.USER_NAME)
    Edited by: 787819 on Jun 22, 2011 1:46 PM

    If a function returns a VARCHAR2, then it will error (or sometimes truncate depending on function) when reaching the limit of the datatype.
    Perhaps an alternative would be to write your own user-defined aggregate function that works with a CLOB.
